The beginning (written from OC's point of view).
So my name is Adagio Azalea, you can just call me what you want. This is the beginning of my story. I was born in Las Pegasus into the life of a street performer. I don't want to name my parents, so I'll call my mother Allure and my father Panto. They were good at magic and comedy, respectively. Anyways, my parents were great street performers, but it wasn't the best way to live. I grew up knowing that we were always on the edge of financial ruin, but even still, I felt that we could bounce back from it. I had high hopes as a colt. To help out my parents, I got involved in street performing at a young age. I tried absolutely everything-magic, comedy, dancing, acting, all kinds of things. But I just wasn't good enough at them. I brought in a few spare bits occasionally, but I'm pretty sure they were given out of pity. Eventually, I ran out of things to try. Then, my mother suggested singing. I never considered my voice to be anything special, but I gave it a shot. It was the best thing I've done in my life. I stopped at a point on the strip, and belted it. I pulled in about 34 bits from it. And attracted the attention of a talent scout, whose name was Flair something. He needed an act that could put him on the map, and offered me and my family 45% percent of the money that was earned. Anything to get us more cash. So I said yes, and soon enough, the venue came around. I'd been practicing for it for the entire week before. Right before I went out on stage, Flair whatever stopped me, smiled at me and said "The ponies want a good show, and I know you'll give it to them". Then I went out stage, and if I'm honest, I don't remember my performance. What I remember is what happened after, lights in my face ponies cheering, the huge smile on my face. I walk of the stage and as I walk backstage, I look back, and notice an eighth note on my flank, which clearly wasn't there before. I walked out of the building, and preceded to scream "WOOOOOOOO" for a solid 20 seconds. Things were looking way up. I got my cutie mark, I put on more shows, my family had more cash, and life was great.
That's when the depression hit.
It was absolutely out of nowhere, like I just got hit by a train. Remember the high hopes that I said I had? It all dissappeared. Some time had passed, and I started cancelling shows to take care of my mental health, I was losing popularity with the crowd, and I wasn't bringing in any cash for the family. Well, for the family and Flair. Not that it mattered, my parents had more than enough, and Flair had found somepony else to be the face of his "talent agency". The last time I saw him, he looked me dead in the eye, and said to me "Sorry kid. You had your time, but now it's finished". Asshole. It translated to, "You were talented once, but now, no". I still live with that. So there I was, depressed and with no help. I never told my mom or dad, and my therapist was USELESS. I needed somepony to blame. So I blamed the city. Las Pegasus, a legal gambling scheme in the desert. It held happiness so close to me, and took it all away. So I left. I took the bits that I needed, left the rest for my mom and dad along with a farewell note, and left. That's the story up to speed. I don't know where I'm going now. Maybe Manehattan. Maybe Ponyville. I don't know. I do know that things aren't going down, but they're never going to be looking up, either.
