Equestria stands upon the edge of a precipice. In an age of fire and waning magic, chaos reigns over the few ponies who have not succumbed to madness. These mad Hollow ponies wander aimlessly, driven by a base instinct to attack any who carry the faintest sliver of sanity within themselves.

One of these few ponies, Ember Heart, finds herself torn from a life of forced solitude into a conflict over the fate of ponykind. Armed only with her wits, a trusty blade, and a hoofful of friends, Ember Heart must rise to become a champion of prophecy or a harbinger of darkness. If she doesn't go Hollow first.
