The Tale of Darkmoon (Naruto Xover)
Celestia sighed.
It was over.
She had just banished her own sister, Princess Luna, to the moon.
She didn’t have a choice. Her sister had become corrupted by jealousy and greed, transforming her into Nightmare Moon. No compassion was left; only a desire to bring eternal night. As a result, Celestia was forced to do the unthinkable; use the Elements of Harmony against her.
But she knew there would be consequences. For one, Luna’s son, Darkmoon. What was she to tell him? That she had to banish his mother? Surely not!
Darkmoon was Luna’s son, birthed to her by a human from another world. A world populated by the human race, capable of many great feats of strength and skill. Humans with such capabilities were called ‘Shinobi’ by the natives. Darkmoon had been born with a human body, much to Luna’s disappointment, as she had desired an Alicorn child. She had gotten over her disappointment quickly, however, when the father offered to train the young boy to become a Shinobi.
Darkmoon had grown quickly over the years, learning quickly from his father the ways of the shinobi. Father, Mother, and Aunt were all proud of the child’s progress. Celestia had even commented on his skills, saying that he could make for a great guard someday, if the need ever arose.
Celestia swallowed nervously. She hadn’t a clue how to explain things to Darkmoon. Suddenly, she heard a loud crash echo from deep within the Everfree Forest. She quickly dashed off in the direction of the noise.
She soon arrived in a large clearing, one that hadn’t been there before. To her horror, laying against the trunk of a tree was Darkmoon’s father.
“Oh, no! Are you okay?” she cried as she dashed over to him, seeing all the blood running down his chest, almost like a waterfall.
“I’m fine… “ he said between gasps. “Ir’s Darkmoon that I’m more concerned for.”
“Why? What’s wrong?” she asked, looking around for any signs of the boy.
“I’m afraid the worst has come,” the father said, his breathing ragged. “The monster has awakened.”
“Monster? What are you talking about?” Celestia said, alarmed by the man’s words.
“I’ve never had to tell anypony this, but… Darkmoon is a jinchuuriki.”
“What!? Why have you not told anypony?”
“It wasn’t necessary at the time. The bijuu inside him has been dormant this whole time.”
Celestia heaved a huge sigh before asking, “Where is Darkmoon now?”
Darkmoon’s father pointed. “That way. Celestia, I need you to look after him for me.”
Celestia looked over where he pointed, then back to him. “What about you? Aren’t you going to look after him too?”
“Me? No, I’m afraid not. Look at me, Celestia. I’m dieing.” he said, smiling. “I hope you’ll do what’s best for him.”
“No! Don’t leave me, please!”
“Heh, you're right. It’s wouldn’t be right to leave you a body to bury.” His eyes suddenly changed, becoming red in color with a black, pinwheel-like pattern on it. “Kamui!” he shouted, and his body disappeared in a swirling mass, leaving Celestia alone in the clearing.
Celestia took off in the direction indicated by Darkmoon’s father, hoping to find the boy quickly. What she found both shocked and frightened her.
Standing in the forest was a large creature, crouched down on all fours, four tails protruding from its backside. The creature appeared to be dark red in color, and a large shell seemed to be protruding from its back.
“D- Darkmoon? Is that you?” Celestia asked, fear in her voice.
The creature turned to look at her, its eyes blank and empty. It growled softly at her, then let out a loud, beastial roar. The roar sent shockwaves out, forcing Celestia to erect a barrier around herself for protection. The shockwaves demolished everything around her.
She swallowed hard. This wasn’t going to be easy…
Darkmoon was sitting on his knees, a blank look on his face. He had watched his Aunt Celestia banish his mother, and in that moment, he had lost control of himself. His tailed beast, called Jubi, had taken his body over, and he was too far gone to notice what he was doing.
Suddenly, a loud scream tore through his senses. He recognised the voice. Aunt Celestia! She was in trouble! He looked around, noticing that he appeared to be standing in a large room, larger than the throne room. In front of him was an enormous cage door, and beyond that, his bijuu.
“Jubi!” he called. “Stop this right now!”
The beast laughed. “And why would I do that? I’m in control now, and it’s only a matter of time before the seal breaks. I’ve already eliminated one of the greatest threats to me. Now only one remains, and she will be far easier to deal with.”
Darkmoon gasped. “What? Father? No…” He closed his eyes, tears beginning to stream down. He heard the sound of Jubi laughing at him.
Darkmoon slowly stood up, his head down. “You forgot to get rid of the most important threat, Jubi.”
The tailed beast looked at him, still chuckling slightly. “Oh? And who might that be?”
Darkmoon lifted his head, his eyes opening. To Jubi’s surprise, he saw Darkmoon’s eyes were now red, with two black tomoe in each one. “Me!” he said, beginning to make rapid movements with his hands, creating hand seals. Once he finished, he yelled out, “Wood Style! Tailed Beast Suppression Technique!”
The fight was going horribly for Celestia. She had several gashes from where the creature had clawed her, as well as multiple burn marks from where the creature had slapped her with its tails. Her eyesight had gone hazy; her breathing had become ragged. The creature raised its arm high, ready to deal the finishing blow. Celestia closed her eyes, saying softly, “I’m sorry, sister. I tried…”
Suddenly, she heard the creature give out a loud roar. She opened her eyes to see mutiple wooden pillars rising up out of the ground, wrapping around the creature’s limbs. The creature slowly began to change shape, becoming more humanoid. Its tails receded, as well as its other beastial fetures. Once the process was complete, Darkmoon was in the creture’s place, hanging by the wooden pillars. The pillars receded, lowering him onto the ground softly. He looked around, gasping when he noticed Celestia.
“Aunt Tia!” he shouted, running over to her. He held his hands out over her wounds, a green glow emanating from them. He began to quickly heal her, muttering, “Please don’t die, please don’t die…”
Celestia felt her wounds healing slowly, and she looked up at Darkmoon, noticing his eyes. “Darkmoon,” she said, “Your eyes…”
“I know,” he said. “Now, don’t move. I need to heal your wounds so we can go back to the castle.”
“Listen, Darkmoon. About your parents…”
“I know, Aunt Tia. You did what you had to do.”
Darkmoon slowly picked up Celestia, her large body feeling quite heavy in his arms. He slowly began to walk back to the castle, many thoughts weighing on his mind. His father was dead. His mother was banished. He had lost control of his bijuu, and had almost killed his aunt in the process. But there were some positives. He had regained control of himself. He had awakened his Sharingan. And most importantly, he still had his Aunt.
Darkmoon looked over, noticing that Aunt Tia had fallen asleep in his arms. He smiled and walked into the castle, laying her down in a nearby sofa. He ran up to her room, grabbed some blankets, then came back and threw them over her.
“Sleep well, Aunt Tia.” he said, “See you in the morning.”
