If I Know What Love Is, It Is Because Of You
Dear Rainbow Dash,
I know that this may seem strange. A letter, from me, to you? I know that I never write you, unless you're away, or unable to speak in person. Well, I just figured that what I'm about to tell you can not be expressed in words. What I'm about to confess, is something I'm incapable of saying to your face.
Dashie, I am in love with you. I don't know what love is all that much, but I do know, that when I'm with you, you make me feel good. You make my little heart flutter in joy. When you smile, it lights up my world, especially when my world is feeling gray. The way you cheer me on, because you know that I can't fly well without a little motivation. When you help me with my animals, even though I know you hate doing it. When you laugh at my jokes, even though they're stupid. When you say how much you love my singing, even when I'm flat. How you say I'm beautiful. It makes me feel giddy. I love the way you make me feel, and the way you make me laugh, love myself, love me, how kindly you treat me. I love you. I know that this may seem crazy, and that you probably are reading this and crying, because I just ruined our friendship with my silly feelings. But, Dashie, if I don't tell you, I'm going to continue to shrivel up inside, until I die, and wake up crying at 3:00 a.m. every day. I just want you to know, that every time I see you, be with you, I just know, that I am hopelessly in love with my best friend.
I don't know if you feel the same way. Sometimes I feel like you give me signs, but, I don't know what is flirting, cause I suck at it. Heh. Now, I want you to know, that if you don't feel the same way, that you can just kindly reject my feelings, and not freak out. I'm sorry that I couldn't keep it in, and I just needed to let you know. I'm sorry that I can't be what you want... personality wise, or even... gender. I'm sorry. I want us to stay friends though, please, even if it's awkward. We share friends, we're elements of harmony, we need to stay friends, or the harmony will be broken. So we should stay friends, not for my sake, but Twilight's, Pinkie's, Applejack's, Rarity's... Equestria's. Heh, funny, the world relies on us staying friends. Well, back to the point. If you do love me, well then. Please, get back to me as soon as possible.
Love,
Fluttershy
And with that, Fluttershy wrapped the little piece of paper in a rose patterned envelope, and with a shaking hoof, a pounding heart, and a churning stomach, she mailed it.
What now? The yellow mare thought to herself as she watched the mailmare take her letter, and drive off with it, off to Rainbow's house, and the words into her head.
Author's Note
I know it's short, but my creativity is weak today.
Pacing back and forth in you room listening to sad music is going to get you nowhere, Fluttershy. You need to tell her, or this feeling is going to haunt you, haunt you until she finds a mare she loves. And then they get married, and you cry at the reception, and not because the wedding is beautiful. And then you get drunk, and wake up the next morning in some other mare's bed, regretful for the rest of your life. If you just tell her, you can get this off your chest. What's the worst that could happen? Well, she could completely reject your love and affection, think you're crazy, and never speak to you again. Never whisper your name... never think of you again... in a good way. Or, she could accept your feelings, and you could finally kiss her little blue snout, call her baby, maybe even someday call her your wife. And adopt a little foal, maybe a couple. Yeah, I think I'll focus on the "what if she loves me back" side of this. But what if she- no, stop. The more important thing to think about is how you're going to tell her that you love her... that you want to curl up in her wing, staring into the night sky, picking a star to share for eternity... unless it burns out, and you don't love each other anymore. And you break up, and you don't stay friends. What would happen to the elements of harmony then? Oh, see there you go again, worrying over spilled milk... wait, that's not the phrase... whatever.
How am I going to tell her? If I see her in person, then I will get too scared, blush till my whole body's red. I'll squeal, and jump, hide under my mane. I know myself, and no matter how confident I think I am, I know deep down that I'm not. Alright, telling her in person; no. What If I got someone to tell her for me? Well, that's not very romantic. She might think it's a joke, and then laugh it off, till the next time she sees me and I so foolishly bring it up, and she feels bad for not taking it seriously. Or doesn't like me back... and I embarrass myself double. Getting someone else to tell her; nope. What does that leave?! I don't know what to do, I don't want to end up lonely, and regret not telling her!
How about I write a love letter? That seems a bit, old fashioned, but, why not? It is romantic, and I have seen it done a lot in movies. Yeah! That sounds like a good idea. Now... where did I leave my quill?
Author's Note
I got the idea for this because of the TV show, Glee. I think that Will and Emma are adorable, and I am so happy that they got together. (Yeah, I know they break up, but they get back together in the end, get married, and have a kid named Danny... I may or may not of did some "research"). Well, Emma reminds me of Fluttershy in a way.
