This is just the beginning this isn't the end

Rain drops streamed from the sky like the tears in her eyes. She could smell the strong scent of dirt and mud a grey smoothly polished rock sat before her.

She felt a gentle hoof placed on her shoulder when turning around she saw her teacher and a tired looking spike on her back with a pink hankerchif she wiped her tears from Starlights eyes with her magic aura .

"We are going to head home you can come when you like" Twilight said to her student who was obviously not ready to leave, she soon started to trot off into the night she looked back at her one last time and continued to walk slowly.

She never wanted to leave

Starlight leaned her head against the grave and started another round of constant sobbing and sniffling. She heard a pony walking behind her she was in the same state of sadness as herself. After she came closer she reconized her . The mare had a deep tan color coat with a brown mane her hooves were white .

The mare spoke up "I am sure you miss sunburst as much as me" the mare sat down next to starlight on the grassy muddy ground starlight replied "I want him back" Starlight knew he would never come back no matter how much she wished and prayed and hoped it would always be the same he would always be dead.

Starlight tried to remember the mares name, of course when you were a filly you never paid attention to things like you're friends parents firsts name though of course she heard her name several times during school, then it hit her Sunswirl she thought it was a beautiful name.

Starlight spoke gently "What if I never get over his death" she paused for a moment and looked up at the cloudy, rainy, foggy sky "what if I never live without thinking of his loss"

Sunswirl gave her a understanding face "of course we can never forget the death and we will always be sad when reminded of him because the thought of him still remains"

Starlight looked at her confused memories began to fill her mind.

Starlight and sunburst sat on a hill with a cool breeze blowing by the sun was begining to slowly set into the sky. Starlight did not know what to say first of course because she had never been on a date before.

Sunburst looked just as nervous and flushed as her. Starlight nervously dug her hoof at the ground and sunburst played with the end of his wizards cloak.

After about ten minuets Sunburst decided to speak

"How are the friendship lessons going"

" G..Good hows you're job"

"Fine"

It was like that for about an hour

Starlight decided to pick up the pace and kissed him right on the muzzle to her surprise sunburst kissed back they wrapped their fore hooves around each other. They soon broke up the kiss and they were both more flustered and sweaty then before it was both there first time ever kissing some pony it was truly magical.

It was the grand galloping gala the event starlight waited for all bucking year long it felt like an eternity before she finally got to go. She got a custom made dress it was light blue with sea green diamonds covering the back of it she wore red sparkling high heels that made her feel a couple inches taller, and she wore makeup (not allot though because she preferred natural)

The moment she walked through the castle doors she felt like she never had before it was so beautifully decorated so many ponies mostly Canterlot ponies dressed in the most elegant dresses and suits.

Soon she saw sunburst walk into the room he was dressed in his normal cape as usual but had his mane and tail completely brushed and trimmed it made him look absolutely amazing to her she trotted over to him and nuzzled him. They were both so happy to see each other life was busy and eventful so they hadn't seen each other is ages.

Sunburst and starlight headed to the classy ballroom it was filled with ponies from all over Equestria there was a band with of course Ponyville's best musician Octavia Melody.

"Do you want to dance?" Sunburst asked willingly

Starlight had never danced before and at first as she placed her hooves on sunburst and they got on both hooves they were constantly wobbling and falling but eventually she got used to it.

Then they sat on the castle balcony basking in the moonlight of course it was not cloudy because on this night the pegasi planned the most beautiful weather all year. They spent awhile in silence nuzzling each other.

She leaned up against sunburst and whispered "I love you"

Sunburst smiled

"I love you to"

Starlight and sunburst were eating at a three hooves cuisine (finally the food tasted like food because zesty finally decided to try different tastes and it turned out now she thinks froufrou food tastes like trash)

Starlight ordered a daisy sandwich and sunburst ordered a salad they sat and talked for hours about magic, princess flurry heart, and book organizing it was quite a normal conversation to those two.

Sunburst decided he had enough of small talk and with is magic he took out a small velvet box inside of the box was a golden ring with a beautiful shard of diamond in it

"Will you marry me"

"YES'"

Starlight was so tired that night from the gala so she trotted to her room in Celestia's castle it was a room with a giant window a nightstand and a queen sized mattress as soon as she snuggled under the covers she went out like a lightbulb.

The next morning she brushed her mane used makeup remover and made the bed so it looked just as nice as it did last night then she headed down to the dining room where the girls and spike were eating.

"Good morning everyone"

Upon closer inspection they were all acting strange for one thing Pinkie Pies mane was slowly deflating ,Rarity's mane was not combed out and shiny , Twilight had the most nervous smile ever.

"Do you think she heard?" Rainbow Dash whispered

Starlight began to worry "Did something happen?" she asked

"Starlight last night ...."

Twilight didn't know how to put it in the proper way.

"Sunburst got killed"

Starlight's heart stopped No no no no no please no her life shattered right in front of her how come this happened to her, she thought this was her fault

"how?"

"A unicorn shot him with a powerful magic beam"

She wished she could just kill that unicorn her eyes filled with tears why did this happen to him why did he die? Why couldn't she just die instead of him?

Starlight went back to reality and shoved her memories aside she remembered where she was sitting next to Sunswirl who was staring at the cold ground.

Sunswirl stood back up and stretched her legs she shook the water off of her and wiped the mud off her hooves and started to walk out of the area and waved goodbye to Starlight

Now she was all alone.

It was now close to midnight and the rain and thunder still remained it was such a disgusting day to be out it was so humid and wet of course maybe some fillies like this kind of weather.

Starlight layed down on the grass and started to pray eventually she fell asleep.

She awoke to a brilliant light shining up in the sky it was coming from the moon soon the flash of light faded it revealed a purple alicorn with a sparkling mane and tail her cutie mark was a moon.

Starlight gasped "P..Princess Luna"

Princess Luna walked closer to the unicorn "Death is such a horrible thing" the alicorn said then Princess Luna stared at the moon as if she was trying to remember something.

"I once knew a pony who could understand me she had a interest in the moon and stars even though she could not see them we were best friends but I remember the day she died from old age of course me being a immortal alicorn I will never die and I will watch most everyone I care about die someday"

Starlight looked up at Luna "But how did you get over it"

Luna's horn lit up creating a aura around them and they started to float up into the sky and as they got further she realized they were not in Ponyville but in Canterlot.

They floated towards a window in the castle inside the room was a young alicorn sobbing while holding a vase inside of it was something white and sparkling but she could not make out what it was.

Starlight looked puzzled "Is that you?"

Princess Luna nodded her head.

Soon a white alicorn with long pink hair entered the room and was talking to the young princess Luna soon the tone changed as she held the vase more tightly in her hooves she screamed at the other alicorn and ran off into the hallway.

A moment later they appeared in the throne room

"Is it really the last one we have?"

"It has been over a thousand years sister and... she only made so many"

"Can we not save it?"

"you know she wouldn't have wanted that"

"But she..I never got to..."

'I am sorry for that I know she was a dear friend to you"

"The only one who truly knew my night"

"She still knows it you know that"

"Princess the weather captains are waiting for you're signal"

Soon she lifted the small blue vase with her aura and tipped it downwards and a little snowflake fell out of it gently it flew down towards the snowy winter ground.

"What what was that snowflake" The unicorn asked

Luna beamed "The first hoof made snowflake she made it"

Starlight stood in shock

"How how did you let it go wasn't it dear to you?"

Luna nodded her head.

"Yes but I remembered that I loved her and she still lives on the inside plus no pony enjoyed me being sad every single living breathing day so I decided to change and accept that shes in my heart guiding me"

"GLIM GLAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM WAKE UPPPPPP"

The first thing she saw was pinkie pie hoping around her also all of her friends were there standing around her. They all looked worried for her she glanced at the walls how did she get in a room?

"Where am I" she groaned

"In you're bedroom darling" Rarity answered

"Last night Twilight found you asleep so she took you back to the castle" Applejack said.

"Oh we were so worried for you" Fluttershy added.

"We are so glad you're okay how about you get some more rest" Twilight said.

a moment later she found herself alone in her bedroom this gave her time to think. Starlight wondered was that a dream or did I actually meet princess Luna she really did not care but dream or not she understood what she meant and she knew what she had to do.

She browsed through the drawers of her vanity until she found the small velvet box it was still in mint condition and the ring was sparkling and dazzling as usual.

She layed the ring on the center of her bedroom floor and she tilted her head towards the ceiling soon her magic aura rasped the ring as it floated up in the room.

The metal slowly tansformed into a single green stem and the diamond began to shimmer and shine brighter then ever before and it started to transform into rainbowfied petals.

Next to the grave she placed the mystical flower and she stood up she felt something new relief as if all this stress and worry disappeared from her soul it was exactly what she wanted to feel.
