Anons Rainbro
Feel the Fire
Previous ChapterNext ChapterWalking down a road on the outskirts of town you hummed quietly to yourself. The Tipsy Owl wasn't too much farther and Rainbow wouldn't make it for at least another hour or so. A smile graced your features, you sure as hell beat him and now Blitz would have to play catch up when he got there. It would be great, a little comment about getting on your level would have him doing double shots to catch up.
Always a good time seeing a friend getting really trashed really quick. That wasn't really his fault though ponies have a low tolerance. Most of their drinks reflect that as well. Cider was one of the more potent things here and the liquor wasn't much better.
There was one drink here that did seem better than any of the stuff back on earth. It was real moonshine and it used some weird process where the still could only produce it during a full moon. Stuff was supposed to soak up some of the magic or something like that. Made about as much sense as anything else here.
Moonshine here felt kinda weird to drink, it was so cold it burned, all the way down your throat and into your stomach. Really refreshing afterwards though and man did it fuck your day up. Most places didn't carry it but this place did, that was the main reason for the Tipsy Owl being you and Blitzes chill spot.
The only thing that sucked about it was how freakin expensive the shit was. A shot was triple price of this worlds whiskey. Didn't matter all that much though since you had coins to spare. Blitz, on the other hand, had more of a... fruity taste in drinks. Gods you hated how that sounded but it was true. Everything he drank was really colorful and not too potent. Not that it mattered, two different approaches for the same result. As long as you weren't the only one getting plastered it was all that mattered.
When you saw the bar creeping around a corner you picked up the pace. After making it inside it was time to see how busy the place would be tonight. Looking around there was only a stray pony here or there. Good, doesn't look like it's gonna pick up anytime soon. Approaching the bar the pony behind it recognizes you immediately.
“Hey there Anon. Want the usual to start off with?”
“Sure, sounds good.”
As she turned to pour the shots there was that usual sway in her hips. She probably did it on purpose, trying to get you to notice. Wouldn't work though, not that she didn't look good. There was the slender form that went well with the cream coat and the brown mane done in a pixie cut which looked pretty good. The simple fact was she was a she, not really your style.
“Here you go hon, two shots of moonshine. I'll keep the bottle out for ya.” She winked and went on to cleaning behind the bar. Knocking one back and taking the other to a booth in the back corner you couldn't help but smile.
“She totally wants the D.” It was only a whisper but by the color of her cheeks she may have heard that one. Woops.
Relaxing into the well worn in seats of the booth you let out a sigh of relief. It was always nice to come here and let the stress of the day melt away. In this calm atmosphere it was easy to exist, like nothing else mattered while you were here, like a little slice of paradise.
“Hi Anon, how are you doing?”
Well damn, that was short lived. Looking at who budged in on your mojo it was just Carmella.
“Not bad, how about yourself?”
“Oh me? I'm good. Here I brought these for you. Mind if I sit down?”
She slid two shots of moonshine onto the table and sat down. Not that you minded, it's not like she made a statement and didn't ask or anything. The free shine did mean an automatic yes, but that was beside the point. Since she was here now that meant you had to talk with her and two more shots would make that hell of a lot less painful.
Taking a deep breath and slowly letting it out you grab a shot in each hand and knock them back one after another. Slamming the glasses down you started to feel better.
Carmella seemed to enjoy the display and was clapping her hooves together.
“Thanks for those Carmella, so what brings you here?”
“Oh I was just walking around and saw you come in here and thought; a nice cold drink sounds good right now. Then I remembered all you drink is moonshine so I brought some over for you.” She took a small sip of her cider and gave you the best innocent expression she could muster. It was bull, she was most likely following you for awhile and just waited outside coming up with that excuse. Weird. Actually now that you think about it drinking those shots probably wasn't a good call. Hopefully Rainbow got here before anything bad happened. The last place you wanted to be was tied to this creepy mares bed. Maybe that was an exaggeration, shit like that didn't really happen in this world but you never know. There always had to be a first.
“Hello? Equestria to Anon, anypony in there?”
“Hmh? Sorry spaced out there, did you ask something?” She looked none too pleased right about now. Maybe you should have paid attention to the crazy pony who gave you alcohol.
“If you're not going to listen to me and be a dismissive ass then I'll just leave! I don't know why I bother trying, your too stuck up that fag Rainbow Blitzes ass to notice anypony else. Have fun with your personal closet case.” She slugged down the rest of her cider and got up to leave.
If there was ever a time you really, really, Really, wanted to beat the everliving fuck out of someone as much as right now you couldn't recall. People back on earth tossed shit like that around all the time but after they got their asses kicked by said fag they usually kept their mouths shut. Standing up you go to block Carmellas path; for a moment she looked scared but that stuck up look soon came right back. Kneeling down to her level she stands frozen as you whisper in her ear.
“There is a lot of shit I will put up with, saying something like that about my best friend is not one of those things. You should be careful, ponies may be easy enough to understand but people are different. Never know what we could do, my people have burned and pillaged cities only to go home the next day and have dinner with our families. We are unpredictable, remember that.”
Standing and glaring down at the horrified pony you make your way back to the booth. The front door to the bar slamming shut before you even sat down. Letting a breath go it was evident that she wouldn't come anywhere close to you in the near future. It was for the best, the stalking was getting pretty bad.
The door opened and in walked Rainbow Blitz a look of mild confusion on his face. He trotted over to the booth to sit down. Waving at the bartender she came over with Rainbows favorite drink, a blue latitude. Taking a swig and sitting the glass back down he decided to ask what was on his mind.
“So why did Carmella go running out of here? Did you shoot her down or something?”
“Na she was just talking shit and I told her off, I wouldn't speak to her if I were you.”
“What the hell did you say to her?”
“I just told her about people stuff, guess it scared the poor thing” Rainbow didn't seem to find this as amusing as you did. Blitz wouldn't understand the why if you didn't tell what was said, but it wasn't like you were going to tell him the shit that came from Carmellas mouth. The pegasus was sensitive on the topic and this was supposed to be a fun night for the two of you.
“Just don't worry about it man so how did work go?”
He seemed to still be slightly worried about what Carmella for one reason or another but pressed forward. “We had to do the setup for a big storm that's scheduled to start tomorrow morning and go pretty much all day. Not gonna be able to do much while it's going on so you mind if I hang out at your house?”
“I gave you a key for a reason dude, no need to ask. You pretty much live there anyway.”
“Awesome so how many are you in for?”
“Got three down and its only been about twenty minutes, give or take.”
“Shit. Can't let you get that far ahead of me that quick.” With that he chugged the rest of his drink and waved for another. After it was brought over he was about to go for number two you put a hand on top of the glass to stop him.
“What gives Anon?”
You take a second to give him a cheeky grin. Then slowly you slide the shot of moonshine over to him.
“How about you do one round with the big boy?” Waving to the bartender she brings over two more shots.
“Ha, you're on! I bet this stuff doesn't even burn like regular liquor mister 'big boy.'”
“Tough talk coming from a baby blue pony with rainbow hair.”
That got Rainbow going, he shot you a dirty look before swiping two of your shots and downing them in a rapid succession. The first second or so he seemed perfectly fine, that was the cold part. As his face scrunched up you could tell the burning hit. Poor dude was having it rough. Banging a hoof on the table as he held his face with the other. Struggling to regain the use of his esophagus Rainbow stopped. Seeming to have just won a tough fight.
Being unable and unwilling to hold anything in, you let loose a torrent of laughter while clapping. Going on like that for a few minutes before you see it fit to stop.
“By the Gods dude, that was fuckin dope. Also hilarious but still dope.” Holding out a fist Blitz bumps it with his hoof.
“Thanks Anon, I don't see how you drink that stuff all the time. That hurt my soul dude.”
“Naw man, the stuff from Earth is about as harsh as this. I'm just used to it is all.”
Rainbow seemed to have spaced out... and was slowly swaying side to side with a dumbass grin on his face. Yup, he was gone. Guess it was your turn to play the catch up game. Waving over the bartender again two more shots were placed on the table.
“Aw, look at the hyooman losing to a pony half his size.” Rainbow attempted to lean on his hoof and look smug, but missed and instead his head landed on the table. Didn't stop him though, had to admire that.
“Not gonna be losing for long Blitzy.” Shooting a wink is his direction you line up the three shots and down them one after another. After the last glass is sat back down you breathe a sigh of relief as the moonshine works its magic. Looking across the table Rainbow seemed to be having trouble holding himself up. Struggling to stand you reposition yourself beside Rainbow Blitz, he seemed caught off guard.
“Hey uhm, Anon, what you doing all the way over here?”
“Looked like you were struggling, figured I would help you out.” Putting an arm around Rainbow Blitz he tenses for a moment before relaxing.
“That better dude? Not gonna fall are ya?”
He leaned into your side, head pressing to your chest. “I'll be good, thanks."
“No prob dude.”
While it was nice the two of you couldn't stay like that forever. When you felt sober enough to make it to the house in one piece you picked up Rainbow and put him on your back. He didn't process alcohol nearly as quickly as you did and looked like he was ready to zonk out.
“Yo Rainbro, hold onto my neck. I don't need you falling off me.”
He made a series of grumbling noises and complied. The walk to your house wasn't too long and the moon lit the path well enough that you didn't run into anything. Unlocking the door you walk inside. It was almost pitch black, luckily you had a decent amount of experience traversing the house drunk and in the dark. After closing the door you made your way back to the bedroom. Gently laying Rainbow down and covering him up.
The soft moonlight that came through the window was enough to make out his features. Hair sticking out every direction, soft smile on his lips... it warmed your heart. Seeing that look made you feel whole, like nothing could stop you as long as Rainbow wore that expression. Leaning down you place a gentle kiss on his forehead.
“Sweet dreams Blitzy.”
Pulling back you move to the other side of the bed and take off the your shirt. Slipping under the covers the world of sleep quickly takes hold.
Unbeknownst to you Rainbow Blitz lay awake mere inches away. His voice was inaudible as he tried to grasp what had just happened.
“He... kissed me?”
