|Ten Years Ago...|
I get out of bed and head over to my closet grabbing my saddle bags. Do I realy want to do this? I think for a moment but continue with the original plan. I quietly take my school supplies out and set them on the floor. I pull down two hoodies and put them in my bag, I pull another down and slip it over my head pushing my hooves through the sleeves. I also sneak downstairs and grab some food out of the pantry making sure i'd have enough for the trip im making.
I trot over to the door and put my hoove on it. I hesitate... but I my emotions aside and open the door.As I trot away I start looking back at the cloud home but I stop myself. No looking back... I continue away from the floating home. Into the streets.
I refocus on the present and fly into the city of cloudsdale and land on the closest street. The air smells of precipitation as I inhale deeply. Its been so long, old city. I approach the dreaded street that I hated so much, ten years last I saw it. The air grew colder and flakes of ice begin to fall. I walk down the street and stop infront of my old home admiring the foals playing on the street.
Go... I walk up to the door and ring the doorbell. A muffled trot can be heard on the other side. The deadbolt unlocks and the door swings inward. "hello? did you need somthing dear?" an older (but not old) mare asks.
"Y-yes um, dose Mr. Strike still live here?" I ask the mare.
She looks at me for a moment and answers "Im afraid not dear, i've owned this house for two years now," my heart sank "I would check city hall, they may know were he moved to." the mare recommends.
"Sorry for bothering you, thanks anyways." and with that she bids me farewell and closes the door. I trot down the street and past the foals at play. My red scarf dances in the cold air as a soft wind toys with it. I Explore the city and see how much its really changed, Old businesses replaced by new. trash litters the streets and the cloud beneath me feels as solid as the earth itself.
I approach the city hall and climb the stairs up to the building. White cloud columns support the building and the inside is extremely clean. I walk up to the front dest and a stalion wearing a suit looks up to me. "How may I help you ma'am?" the stalion says
"Im looking for my fathers current address." I respectfully respond
"Whats his name?" he adds.
"His name is Rainbow Strike."
"Ok I will be back in one second." The dark grey stallion in the suit says as he gets up. I waited for ten mayby twenty minutes reading Equestrian Flyers, my favorite magazine. The stallion returned. "excuse me ma'am, you wouldent happen to be Ms.Dash would you?" he asks.
"Yes thats me." I answer.
"If so... then.... well im sorry for your loss. Mr. Strike died two years ago, he passed from natural causes." He apologises. My heart sinks as the words of my fathers death hit me. "He left you this." The stalion puts a metal box on the counter.
"T-Thank you." I say as I leave. I fly down below the city of cloudsdale over to ponyville. I find a familiar medow and land in it. At the top of the medow was two gravestones. This is the place my parents had met. They had both agreed to be buried here, my mom was layed here when I was two after an accident involving storm clouds got her.
I walk to the top were my parents rest and I sit down. I lay the box down infront of myself and open it. Inside theres two thing; A picture of Mom, Dad, and me at home. Then a letter underneath it. It was from my dad.
Dear, My little Dashie
If your reading this then Im dead. Im sorry I was so hard on you growing up. Its my fault you ran off. Im also sorry for not being able to give you the attention you needed as a kid. Theres alot of wrongs i've done in my life. I tried my hardest and tried to keep you happy. Years have passed and I still haven't seen you. Im not sure I ever will. But I just wanted to let you know that I love you, and I always will. Im sorry.

Tears flow down the side of my face as I read the letter. The snow getting thicker and colder. I look up at the gravestones as I finish the letter. "I-Im sorry dad, I didn't mean to cause you so much grief... None of this was your fault. Im such an idiot..." I regret. "Im sorry for being so stubborn," I say. "Im sorry... so sorry... I regret ever running away, but now its to late... I wish I stayed,"
"I wish I could be with you and mom"
