Chapter 1: Into the unknown

Previous Chapter

"Work faster you beasts!" The sound of whip's cracking was apparent all across the valley, where countless human's were forced to mine rare minerals and fend off beasts that could endanger their lives.

Loud groans can be heard from a nearby human who retaliated against his pony masters. He clenched his fists in rage and throw all of his might against the white earth pony whom has been whipping them for several hours. The human pushed the pony to the ground and punched him in the face before smashing his head to the ground.

The earth pony was seriously taking it's toll with extreme prejudice, nothing even fighting back against the beast on front of me- but instead snickering every time his head was forcefully pushed to the ground. Before the human could deal the finishing blow, a red beam of magic hit his back, causing him to fall to the ground unconscious. The earth pony stood up and spat blood to the human's face. He smiled at it's hopelessness and proceeded to whip the human's again.

A group of Royal Guards soon arrived and dragged the human to the pen, where he would be thrown into the pit. To say that the pit looked like shit was a bit of an understatement. The pit itself was covered with bodies of humans, all bruised up or died from severe lack of food.

A particular human cried mentally for help, not wanting the guards to hear her pleads for help. After all, an intelligent human is a dead human. She could only hope that one day, a miracle would happen that would liberate humanity from the hands of cruelty.

For more than a millennia, they have felt endless sadness, sorrow, and pain. There is no such thing as a free and intelligent human

Twilight Remedy's POV

As the Union-class ship; Terra's Might exited from slipspace, it rocked violently as it processed the sheer harshness of the jump. Before they were exploring the unknown sectors, hoping to find some worlds that the Empire could settle or better yet. Forerunner artefacts. But as they reached the previous destination, they found out that they were being pulled into a collapsing star -- something that you wouldn't want to be near of. With only minutes left, the captain of the ship; Twilight Remedy, initiated an emergency jump -- a form of jump that could be seriously dangerous when not handled properly -- and randomly chose a star light years away from the nova.

Now there they are, drifting through the emptiness of space, waiting for the main power to turn back on. Inside the ship's bridge, a young lady with tan skin and purple hair alongside pink streaks on it, rubbed her head to ease her headache. Her name was Twilight Remedy, descendant of the first Grand Admiral of the Unified Species Empire; Benedict Remedy, the man who -- a hundred years ago -- stopped an entire Rakni fleet with a handful of frigates and cruisers. Of course she retained her father's intelligence, after all many people had high expectations for her.

She looked left and right and see that the crew members are still recovering after the rough jump. "Serina, where are we?"
