The City On The Mountainside...
Wander Among The Terror
Previous ChapterNext ChapterWhere the sun doesn't shine, and the lunar light can't reach, deep within Canterlot are the crystal caves. Long-forgotten from the ponies of the city, home to only one little pony who to was forgotten by the very people she held dear. Cloaked in white, she sat on a cliff edge looking down into an abyss of crystals. She held a book, her horn glowed orange being her source of light in the caves, she skimmed though the books disturbing pages.
"I'm in awe of this book!", she spoke grinning. "The knowledge it contains, the power it has. With this our plans can go on without a hitch!", she said flipping to another page.
"That is not why I have tasked you to retrieve it", a disembodied voice spoke with a stentorian tone.
"Don't get all riled up, I know you don't want me using it for anything but the tasks. I just think that we don't have to spend all this waiting if we just use to book", the mare avowed.
"No! I need not let them fall swift. They must have anguish upon death. A swift clearing will not in sure my resurrection", boomed the disembodied voice.
"Yeah, yeah I know. I was just rattling your cage anyways", she said mockingly.
"You continue to mock me. Do not forget who is granting you the retribution you have long sought after", It spoke again scolding the mare who sighed. "What of the six, have you done anything to prevent thier intervention,", stressed the voice.
"I have sent one of the beasts from that world to take care of them",
"You underestimate them", it said.
"Please, they are nothing without the elements. I could easily do it myself with no help from you", she boasted holding her hoof to her chest.
"I admire your pride, but I do hope you speak a truth for the beast has failed in the task", it said with doubt.
She frowned at the news. "They will be dead once they enter the city! Our guests will make sure of that", She said with a serious tone.
"And if they fail", the voice said.
"Then I will take care of them personally!", she said with anger slipping though her clenched teeth. She calmed herself down before speaking again. "Now if you excuse me, I believe we have important matters to attend too. I don't want to keep this city waiting, but first I think I need to have a talk with a certain Princess", she said with a sly smile plastered on her face before she chuckled lightly.
"I'll get our guests ready, for our main event", The mare nodded in agreement before strolling away from the abyss.
Away from the abyss and closer to the cave entrance she leisurely smiled before stomping the crystal floor three times. "Come on my lovelies, it is time we introduced ourselves to Canterlot", The cloaked mare said loudly into The cave. A faint click-clack and stomping sound approached the mare from the darkness of the cave, followed by heavy puffs of air. Both sounds grew louder as they came closer. Another sound more faint but growing came from behind the mare, the sound of wings flapping. Upon close proximity the beast stopped and the other hovered above before landing with a thud next to the mare who smiled at their arrivals. They were at either sides of the mare, eyes glowing within the dark cave
At Canterlot castle, Celestia sat on her throne. A pony with large glasses held up a stack of papers to Celestia whom paid no mind to them as she thought about this new threat. What could this be, another power hungry being, some ruler looking to expand thier empire, or another confused pony. Celestia wondered if her kingdom would ever be at peace, at least for more then a thousand years. All this was of course wishful thinking. She let out a long sigh before returning her attention to the papers held up to her by the pony.
She skimmed through many of the less important one only stopping at certain papers. This went on for a good few minutes before her royal guards ponies barged into her throne room all panting visibly terrified.
"Princess Celestia!", one spoke with both panic and scared tone. "A dragon is attacking Canterlot and is on approach to the castle", The pony said his helmet to his chest as he adress Celestia even in his current state.
This caused a gasp of all the ponies who were in the throne room, save for Celestia who only had a worried look. "Hold it off as long as you can, Get the ponies to safety, and awaken my sister! I'll join the rest of you as soon as everyone is safe", Celestia exclaimed with herself looking worried. The ponies of the room quickly evacuated leaving Celestia who made sure they left safely.
She galloped for the exit but was stopped at the sudden dimness of the room, she turned towards the glass window panes. A large wide silhouette showed behind the windows. Celestia eyes widened as the silhouette grew larger, she braced herself.
Glass, and wall shattered as the dragon crashed through the glass pane windows. Fragments of the wall skid across the room floor, glass quickly covered the floor. Celestia let down her magic spherical shield before coughing from the dust. The dust settled and at the center of the room in front of Celestia was the dragon that her guards spoke of. A green rough scaled, two hind legged dragon with the wings it has posing as front legs. A wyvern was what stood in front of Celestia. It's yellow beady eyes stared at her for what felt like the longest time. Celestia readied herself for battle with her horn glowing light yellow but before she could attack a sinister laugh filled the room.
The Wyvern lowered itself down letting off a white cloaked pony who was responsible for the laugh. She closed in on Celestia before stopping to caress the Wyvern.
"And here I thought that we could have killed you with our little stunt", she spoke with a honeyed voice. "I thought you weak, as you let others do your dirty work for you but I should know better then to underestimate the Princess of Equestria", She smiled under her hood. Celestia didn't say a word.
"Speechless, I know but don't be in awe of me yet Princess for that comes later. Right now you show be scared or confused at the very least", Still Celestia remained silent. "Don't give me such a stern look Princess-", Wyvern's eyes widened as it sensed a peculiar presence before it pulled the mare under it as a blue beam of magic passed by that was intended to hit the cloaked mare almost striking Celestia as it struck the wall behind her instead. With the coast cleared the Wyvern turned itself around and lunged at the perpetrator knocking her down and holding her down with its hind leg. The alicorn struggled underneath she shot beams of magic at Wyvern who dodged them all.
"Luna!", Celestia yelled attempting to aid Luna before an orange aura held her back.
"Very sly Celestia , keeping me monologuing so your sister could have the jump on me", The mare said chuckling to herself. "Bring her!", she exclaimed to the Wyvern who did as he was told, flying low with Luna in his hind claws. He dropped her in front of the mare rather forcefully before landing next to the mare again. "Good boy, now let me handle them", She petted the Wyvern. "I was surprised to hear that your sister had returned. I thought you would have forgotten about her too but I digress", she said.
"What is your goal in all of this", Celestia finally spoke. "And In dangering my subjects will not help lighten your sentence, but we can forgive all you have done if you surrender now", Celestia said hoping to resolve this with little trouble at least.
"Spare me you goodie-two shoe speech about forgiveness and what not. I'm not here to get reformed like your other so-called baddies. I'm here for one thing only. To end your kingdom, starting with your precious city of Canterlot", The mare said quite annoyed at the Princess who failed to see what she wanted.
"Who are you to threaten us, the Princesses of Equestria whom hold more power then any regular unicorn who seeks to dethrone us", Luna said harshly.
"Oh I can assure you that i'm no ordinary unicorn, and I do not seek to dethrone anypony. As for who I am. You may call me Regalia. Your Sister knew me all to well", The mare answered.
"I have no memory of a unicorn such as yourself", Celestia added.
"Well then, this might help jog your memory", Regalia stomped her hoof three times before a flying bat-winged creature swooped in though the hole in the wall. It appeared to be reminiscent of the creature that Luna showed before but was larger, with smaller horns.
"If only gargoyles looked like this in Equestria", Regalia said what the creature was seeing how they were confused on it's appearance. The gargoyle lands beside her, handing her a gold tiara that seemed to be lacking a gem in the middle of it. She threw the tiara at Celestia who in turn caught it via her magic.
"W-where did you get this!", Celestia exclaimed. She seemed shocked by the tiara.
"You can't bury everything in the past Princess. In due time you will remember who I am but before that you will see this city fall", she said with a dead serious tone looking at Celestia with a stern look. With her eyes locked on Celestia, Luna seized the opportunity by charging up a spell and released it covering the room In a blue smokescreen. Regalia coughed before using her own magic to clear the room. Luna was gone only Celestia stayed where she was as Wyvern made sure she stayed put, pinning her down as soon as Luna cast the spell.
"Now what does your Sister think she's doing", Regalia said smiling.
"Going...for help", Celestia assured Regalia.
"Oh my dear delusional Princess, no one will be able to help this city or those who choose to enter", Regalia's horn glowed orange to red before a beam of red shot up.
The beam reached a certain height into the air before encasing the whole city of Canterlot in a red spherical bubble.
"I think you need to send a letter to your prized pupil and her special friends about your current predicament"

Fluttershy awoke with a fright from her sleep, panting rapidly, gulping air. She laid on her couch, though she could have sworn she fainted on the floor. At the table across from her were two bowls, one filled with water the other with good. She reached for the bowl of water drinking a considerable amount, nearly choking as she saw the masked being standing motionless a few feet from her with the Crow still on it's shoulder. They stared at each other for a long period of time, Fluttershy was the one to break the ice.
*cough* "Did you do this?", Fluttershy said pointing at both bowls. Jason nodded slowly. He turned himself around and headed for the door. "Wait, you ummm don't have to leave yet," Fluttershy interjected causing Jason to stop. She then remembered the creature from last night and trotted to her back door. The door wasn't on the floor and neither was creature. A trail of blood lead outside promoting Fluttershy to realize what happened to the body. She felt herself get sick again at the blood trail, more so when she remembered last night. Fluttershy wasn't mentally or physically ready for any of this, tears formed in her closed eyes before steaming down. A combination of sickness and sadness filled Fluttershy. She felt the cold touch of the beings finger wiping away one tear from her cheek and the sound of the Crow chirping.
"I...I..I wouldn't be here if it weren't for you. Thank you", she said smiling though her tears. Jason said nothing as he exit from the cottage, Machete in hand. "W...Wait, do you have a name", Jason paused then continued to walk away from the cottage and the forest. The crow flew off his shoulder and landed in front of Fluttershy.
*Squawk*
Fluttershy smiled. His name was Jason. Her unlikely savior.
