The annual Spring Talent Show is in two weeks, and Sweetie Belle wants to perform her (work in progress) song along with Apple Bloom and Scootaloo. Unfortunately, the two of them want to showcase their own talents as individuals, leaving Sweetie in the dust, as well as conscious about her stage fright.

By chance one Saturday afternoon, she crosses paths with a free-spirited, jazz singing runaway by the name of Owl "Ollie" Jolson performing on the street for loose bits. After convincing Rarity and her parents to let him stay in their home, the filly and the owl form a close bond and help each other overcome their fears and obstacles.
