My parents last lie

The train rumbled beneath my hooves, very few people were aboard the tram. First there was  Derpy who was along side me, I know I was not much older than a foal, but if I had my Cutie Mark and could fly, I am old enough to date Derpy. She was smart, attractive, and plain adorable. She had a really bad vocal issue and her voice was a bit odd, but just because  you cant verbalize how smart you are does not mean you arent. I was also like that, my voice was okay but every smart thought  I tried to use felt like pushing a brick through a drinking straw. Probably why I passed the first year of secondary school with D's. I looked out the window and the first thing I see is a train infront of is going at a slower speed, before I could even consider pulling the emergency break we colided and I jumped on Derpy and huddled over her, the last thing I remember was the entire car leaning to the right. I woke up, Derpy laying on my chest. My head throbbed as a picked up Derpy and set her on my back, vision going white I walked along the isle of the overturned train and found my mom and dad. "Mom? Dad? Wak-" she looked at me, a piece of rebar stick through her abdomen. "Mom is going to be alright, So is dad, but I need to to go and save yourself. Help will get here I know it." She said. "MOM! NO! I AM GOING TO ST-" She looked at me. tears welling in her eyes. "Sticks, I love you okay? I promise I will be okay. There is a town near here, JUST GO NOW!" I knew she was lying, but I left anyway, there was no convincing her. "By mom.... I love you SO much." She smiled and looked at me. "I love you too." I carried Derpy out of the window and dragged Photo Phinish behind me. Photo must have been struck on the head because she was a total jerk from then on. I turned my attention to Derpy who was waking up.

"Uhg... What happened? Sticky?" I was about to respond but I heard a crash, I turned around and the trains colapsed, driving the rebar through my mom and stabbing it through her skull. "No!" I yelled, tearing up. "BUCKIGN CELESTIA DAMMIT! NO! NO! NO!" I screamed, my voice cracking. I fell back on my haunches, looking down at the ground blankly. "No..." Derpy came over to me and wrapped her forelegs around my chest, hugging me. She looked into my eyes, they were the most beautiful things I have ever seen, despite having gone crossed from the crash, they still retained their beauty. "Sticks." She said "Oh buck no..." "Sticks" "Celestia n-" I was interupted by being dragged into a kiss. It seemed to last forever. Once it finally broke she spoke. "Sticks I love you." I looked at her, shocked, happy, and sad at the same time. "I love you too Derpy." I said. "I always have, I just never sai-" "Hush" she said, hugging me. "We have to get out of here." I got up and pointed my forehoof to the city about a quarter-mile away from the crash. We walked to the town and stopped at a bakery, "Feel like some food, Sticks?" "Okay, what do you want?" "Muffins" She stated plainly. After we got some muffins and sat down at a booth, I said. "I never thought this would go badly, just a simple train ride, but the odds of life and death show no mercy." Our conversation was halted by a loud boom.

After a little while two pegisi entered the store. One sporting a jersey and a medal titled "Best young fliers competition 1st" and the other carrying saddlebags stuffed with flowers. The mare who we bought the food from came up to the counter. "Hi Rainbow, hi fluttershy. I heard you won." Rainbow Dash gave a victorious smile and Fluttershy looked down. They walked up to me and Derpy. "Hey, are you new? I havent seen you around ponyville." I looked up "Yeah, my name is Sticks. Only people who hate me call me Sticky, so dont use that."  She smiled and stuck out a hoof, I bumbed it. "My name is Rainbow Dash, winner of the best young fliers competition and first ever pony to do the sonic rainboom. But call me Rainbow okay? Nice to meet you."  I nodded. "Say" she added. "Why are your eyes all teared up, something wrong, bro?" I looked down at the table, frowning. "I dont wanna talk about it okay? It is just too soon." She toned down a bit. "Well, can I sit here with my friend? Come on." She gestured to her friend. "Introduce yourself." She walked over and spoke. "Hi my n....." What was that?" I asked "My name is flutter..." I broke eye contact to see if it would help. "Didnt catch that." "Fluttershy." She whispered at barley audiable volume. "Well hi Fluttershy, my name is Sticks, and this is Derpy." "Well hi Derpy." Rainbow said. Derpy waved. "Hi." Rainbow Dash held back a snicker. They all sat down at the booth and began small talk. Simple things like what they plan to do living in Ponyville and such. After confessing that we had no bits and no home Rainbow offered to let us stay at her place. "Yeah, Sticks you seem pretty cool. You know what? You can crash at my place till you get back on your feet." I looked at her. "Oh thank you so much, Dash. I will pay you back I swear." "Oh no need dude, I got room so it is all good, no fees required. "Wait." I said. "Wont your parents care?" "I ran away a long time ago Sticks, I live on my own." She announced. "Parents wanted me to be a salespony, but I did not want to do that. I would not of left if they just let me be and do what I wanted to do with my life." She looked at the time. "Yeah well it is getting late, lets get to my place, Shy, wanna stay over too?" She looked up from her side of the table. "Oh okay, that would be great." She said awkwardly quiet. So they all got up and flew to Dash's cloud home. "You can take the guest room with your friend Derpy. But you will have to share a bed, that okay Sticks?" "Yeah I guess" I said "Is that okay with you Derps?" I asked. "Yeah, its fine with me." Rainbow yawned  "Well I guess I will be heading to bed, night." "Night." I said back as I went into the guest room. We sat on the cloud bed and relaxed, clearing our heads. I flicked off the lamp and lie down on my side. I could not see but I knew Derpy was doing the same thing. I pulled her in to a hug and we sat there in an embrace until we drifted off to sleep.
