War stories - Season 1 - The first great war

"Another one!" The rainbow-maned mare exclaimed as she shoved the empty glass to her right , and joined the 15 others.

"Ma'am I think ya had enough." The barkeeper answered polity

"What?! I'm ... I'm not even tipsy!" The mare slurred

"You're kidding right?" The keeper asked sarcastically

"Oh come on, one last drink. Please?" The mare pleaded. The barkeeper just sighed and slid over another hard cider.

"Last one." He said, the mare grinned and took a sip of the drink.

"Hey babe." A voice to her left said

"What?" The mare asked without looking at him

"Come on, don't be like that. Look at me when I talk to you." The voice answered and threw a hoof around Rainbow

"Get... yer hoofs off from me." The mare threatened a bit slurred

"Hey! I said look at me when I talk to you!" The stallion replied sounding a bit angry

"And I told ya to get yer hoofs of of me. And this is my last warning. I give you 5 seconds" Rainbow replied slurred and took another sip from the mug. The stallion started to look even more angry. Rainbow grabbed  the mug and slammed it into his face, the stallion let out a pained scream as the mug broke under the force. The stallion grabbed his head

"You'll pay for that!" He hissed through gritted teeth and slammed into the mare a second later. The two ponies slammed into the ground, The mare kicked the stallion of from her with her back hoofs, sending him flying onto a table, breaking it. The stallion slowly got up grabbed a bottle and threw it at Rainbow. The mare ducked just in time to dodge it, but once again got slammed into the ground as the stallion slammed into her. She started to see him twice as he started to punch at her.Rainbow held her hoofs over her head to keep it save, after the 5th punch she gave a left hook right against his face, this dazed the stallion and then she gave him a right hook and the left again. The stallion jump away from the mare in an effort to get some space, needless to say it didn't work. The swung at him again but the stallion ducked and threw the mare on a table to his right. Rainbow gave out a low groan of pain as she got up, she jumped at the stallion who once again just ducked but this time Rainbow kicked into his face with her left back hoof, which toppled the stallion over, not even a second later Rainbow was on top of him and started to barrage him with punches. She got about 6 in before the stallion got knocked out and the mare was breathing quiet heavily. When she heard somepony clear his throat behind her, she turned her head and her ears fell back at the sight.

Outside the bar Applejack and Twilight walked side by side, Twilight just got back from getting her groceries and Applejack from selling her apples. They talked about how great their day has been so far, that is until they heard a voice shouting and looked at the source

"Hey come on guys! He started it!" The rainbow-maned mare shouted and then got thrown face first into the dirt.

"And stay outside!" One of the two big stallion exclaimed and they walked back inside

"Yeah you better run, before I come for you again!" The mare exclaimed, then grabbed her jaw and started to walk away while she mumbled something no pony could understood

"I'm seriously worried about Rainbow, Applejack." Twilight said

"Yer tellin' me, she's gettIn' worse by the day. Ain't there anythin' we can do for her..." The farm pony pondered

"I'm not sure. Getting dropped from the Wonderbolts really got to her, I think only time will tell." Twilight answered with a sigh

"Ah hope she'll be okay." Applejack mumbled

"We went through worse together." Twilight replied

"And that's what's scary. We went through it together! Ya saw her when tank had ta hibernate, so ah don't know... droppin' outta the Wonderbolts might've been to much." AJ said, concern in her voice

"Come on AJ, we're talking about Rainbow here. The most cockiest pony in all of Equestria. And not to forget, she can ask us if she needs help." Twilight reminded

"Ah guess yer right." AJ figured

"Hey AJ, you want some pancakes?" Twilight asked, the farm pony looked at her confusion written in her face for a second... that was util her stomach grumbled and she gave a small chuckle

"Sure thing Twi." She replied and they made their way to the castle

About an hour later

Applejack was walking down the dirt road to Sweet Apple Acres, her belly full of pancakes. Her brother seemed to be done with his chores. Applejack opened the door to the wooden house and made her way up to her room, she stop on the stairs midway when she heard snoring... and it wasn't Big Macintosh. So when she walked down the stairs again she did that with caution, her eyes widened when she saw a familiar cyan pegasus with a rainbow mane laying on the couch. Applejack turned her head when she heard a wooden stair creak behind her, she saw Big Macintosh walk down the stairs with a blanket on his back.

"Big Mac, can ya tell me what Rainbow is doing' here?" The orange farm pony asked

"Ah found her passed out under a tree, when walking back from mah chores." The red stallion replied

"Seriously? Again" The mare asked

"Eeyup." The stallion answered flatly, Applejack gave out a small chuckle

"Well see ya tomorrow then... both of ya." Applejack said with a yawn and started to make her way up the stairs and into her room again

"Good night." The red stallion replied and threw the blanket over Rainbow and then made his way up the stairs and into his room too

"Wait a minute grandma... how do you know what they did, when you weren't there... or asleep?" Silver Shadow asked

"I'll explain later in another story, just be patient." The cyan pegasus answered. Silver Shadow nodded in acknowledgement

"The next day wasn't too pleasant obviously" Rainbow continued

As Applejack walked down the stairs and into the kitchen she saw Rainbow still sleeping on the couch, she made her way into the kitchen and saw Big Macintosh and Granny Smith already sitting at the table and eating.

"Mornin'" She said and sat down on the bench and started her breakfast

"Mornin'" Both of them replied, before any of them could say anything else they heard a fourth voice

"Mornin' ya'll." Applebloom said and sat down on the bench and grabbed an apple "What's Rainbow doin' here?" She asked

"Big Mac found her passed out yesterday and brought her in." Applejack replied

"Oh my, is she okay?" Bloom asked a bit worried

"Eeyup, she's gonna have one heck of a headache though" Big Macintosh replied and took another bite of his bread, the breakfast was pretty quiet with the exception of Applebloom talking about her adventures with the other crusaders.

"Okay Bloom, it's time fer school." Granny Smith said, the filly grabbed her saddlebags with her lunch in it and made her way to Ponyville

"And you two, better get ready. We got lot's ta do. Big Macintosh yer gonna take the east field, Applejack you'll look for the animals and then take the south field" Granny Smith instructed, the two siblings nodded and finished their breakfast and laid their dishes into the sink and got to work. The old mare smiled as she watched her grand children walk out, she always did. A few seconds later she walked over to the sink and started to clean the dishes, while doing so the old mare heard a groan indicating that the pegasus mare just woke up

"Good mornin', Miss Dash." Granny smith hollered

"Where am I?" The rainbow-maned pegasus asked loudly,  the sound of hoofs walking on wood could be heard a second later

"Why your at sweet apple acres, youngens." The old mare replied

"Again? How is it I always end up here." Rainbow Dash asked rather herself than Granny smith, who just shrugged

"How ya doin'?" She asked

"Better than the last few times..." Rainbow answered with a yawn

"Sit down and eat somethin' it'll help a bit." The earth pony instructed

"How come your telling me that now and not the other times?" Rainbow asked and grabbed a plate and laid a slice of bread with butter on it and started to eat. The old mare again just shrugged

"*Sigh* what am I gonna do..." Rainbow mumbled

"Yer gonna, eat your breakfast and take it easy on the drinking." The old mare answered

"I'm not talking about that... what am I gonna do with my life..." The pegasus replied

"Well what yer good at?" Granny smith asked

"I was good a flying." The mare replied

"Okay better question, what is or was yer dream?"

"Well my dream always has been to be a Wonderbolt... and of course I made it, but now I'm out again... training for over 12 years and get kicked out in about 5 years." Rainbow answered with a sniff

"Why did ya wanted ta be a Wonderbolt?" The earth pony asked

"Except the obvious? Well... it was to... make my mother proud, besides I always loved flying." the mare answered

"And is she proud?"

"I... I don't know." Rainbow answered a bit sadly

"Ya ain't havin' contact anymore?" She asked

"Yeah let's keep it at that." Rainbow answered the pain about the subject could be heard in her voice, Granny Smith nodded

"So a Wonderbolt to honor you mother, and your father?" The old mare asked, Rainbow's eyes widened

"Come to think of it... he was in the Royal Guard..." Rainbow replied

"Royal Guard huh? Well if the recruit times are still the same they she be  recruitin' in a few months." Granny Smith answered

"A few months?! What am I supposed to do until then?!" The mare asked again rather herself than Granny Smith

"Well how 'bout gettin' yer big butt off the couch and start trainin'?" The old mare stated

"Yes! That's a great... wait... what'cha mean by big butt? It's not any big-" The pegasus stopped as she examined her butt, which indeed has gotten bigger from the months of doing nothing except eating and drinking and being in self pity. "ahem... training. yes" Rainbow said
