A Day At The Amusement Park
Rainbow Dash lay in her hospital bed, listening to the beeping of the heart machine. Her eyes scanned over the white ceiling of the room. So much white. Rainbow's eyes already hurt looking at the ceiling. She looked over to the bed next to hers, where a pegasus stallion lay there, sleeping. His chest rose and fell with the beeps of the moniter. She smile weakly. She couldn't believe she was in a hospital, with her husband.
"Soarin?" Rainbow said as she tapped the stallion with her cerulean hoof. He woke up with a start, the moniter's pace quickening. "Soarin, it's me." A slight undertone of terror hid in her otherwise confident voice.
He turned to face Rainbow. She smiled, her eyes sparkling. He smiled too, as the monitor's beeping slowed down. Good, she didn't have to call the nurses. She hated them fussing over Soarin and herself.
Usually, Rainbow hated the obnoxious sound of the moniter, but now hearing the steady beeps calmed her racing mind. "Yeah?" His voice was raspy but steady, just like Rainbow's.
"I want to just...just...well, just talk. We haven't had a decent conversation. I want to take my mind off this place." She waved her hoof around the room. "I've visited this place too many times. And that's something I'm pretty much not proud of." She gave a sheepish smile.
"What about the first time I met you?" Soarin asked. "You were so excited to meet the team."
She gave him a weak smile, but her eyes were full of happiness. " I remember I just won the Best Young Fliers Competition. The prize was a day with the Wonderbolts. "
I remember the day like no other. I won the competition, and I met my idols. For the first time, I met the ponies who changed my life....
