Dear Princess Twilight,

Under your orders today at 0900 hours my team and I searched the residence of Lady Fluttershy and found something which we were not ready for, something that disturbed us greatly and has forced several members of my team to take time away from the guard.

But I digress, upon entering the residence we found that the entire property was in disarray. Furniture and decorations destroyed, broken or torn apart, slowly rotting food strewn everywhere and the corpses of several animals. Upon further searching her home, specifically her bedroom we found what I am writing to report to you.

It is with heavy heart that I must report to you that your friend has passed from this world.

I and my team would like to give you our most sincere of condolences. The bearer of kindness was truly a beautiful soul and the world will lament her passing.

But there is more that I must divulge and that is the reason why I must deliver this in writing rather than to report to you in pony. Please understand that what I am about to report to you will be disturbing and were you anypony else I would rather not release this information as it would otherwise be a matter for a Princess to deal with.

Upon entering the bedroom of Lady Fluttershy we found her hanging from the light fixture in the centre of her room, a chair knocked to the side, her body missing several chunks of flesh and a bloody rabbit in the corner of the room feasting on torn chunks of meat covered in yellow fur. When it noted our approach we were attacked and forced to defend ourselves. It appeared that the rabbit had become rabid upon the loss of it’s owner and sadly we had to put it down before it harmed any members of my team.

Further inspection of the body would indicate that she had been dead for several days but more experience eyes will give you more information if require it.

Found near the body was a note which appears to have been written by Lady Fluttershy prior to her passing and we believe that it would be best placed in your hooves as one of her closest friends and the resident Princess in Ponyville.

I’m sorry.

I’m sorry that you had to find me like this or read this.

How do you keep going when you are a failure?

I failed to protect my family, I lost my brother because I wasn’t strong enough to help him. I couldn’t help him see the wonderful pony he was and because of my failure he is gone.

I can’t make this better and I can’t forget who he could have been, if only I had been a better sister. I can’t take this anymore. It’s like he is in my head, blaming me for letting him die. It is my fault and I can’t deny that.

I see him everywhere. When I look out my window I see him in the trees watching me, blaming me. Any day now he will come out and take me with him. He wants revenge because he knows the truth, he knows I could have saved him, he knows that I could have been strong enough to protect him. I’m scared, I deserve to let him come and take me but I’m scared of what will happen.

I’m writing this to tell everypony that I’m sorry.

I can’t live with my failures and I am too scared of the punishment for failing.

Rainbow, Pinkie, Twilight, Applejack, Rarity, Spike and everypony else, I’m so sorry.

I’m sorry to inform you but Fluttershy is dead.

She killed herself and I don’t understand why.

She could have come to us but she didn’t, why couldn’t she just talk to us?

I have to go tell my friends but I don’t know what to say.
