Chapter 4

Previous Chapter

Fluttershy walked around the mall. She thought I gotta find a store. A store that has the one thing. That ONE little gift! She walked into the book store and browsed around, until she found the perfect apple in the tree.

Fluttershy sat in her chair and held her gift bag close. The sound of foot steps filled her ears and she quickly put the bag under the table, where it can't be seen. The door opened and Golden Dust walked in. Fluttershy tapped the meeting table with her fingers nervously. Golden Dust sat down in her chair and observed Fluttershy's nervous behavior. After about two minutes of silence, Golden Dust spoke.

"Why are you acting so nervous? D-did I do something wrong?" Fluttershy perked up and spoke.

"No, no ,no! I just... I just..." Fluttershy sighed. "I guess I should just spill the beans." Fluttershy scooted her chair back and grabbed her gift bag out from under the table and stood up. She walked up to Golden Dust and gave her the bag. "I got you a gift. When I saw this, It just seemed to suit you. I thought you liked video games, so....?" Golden Dust was stunned. She hesitated and opened the bag.

"The Ultimate Guide to Making Your Own Video Games? Are you serious!?!" Golden Dust smiled so wide.

Fluttershy nodded. "I figured that since you like video games, that you might want to learn how to MAKE video games!" Fluttershy smiled nervously as Golden Dust looked up at her with wide eyes. Golden Dust suddenly jumped up and hugged Fluttershy.

"Thank you very much!" Golden Dust let Fluttershy go and her smiled slowly faded and Golden Dust looked away from Fluttershy's gaze. Fluttershy knew what it was.

"Even though I got you a present and we're friends, your still scared to tell me why your sad." Golden Dust suddenly looked at Fluttershy with a semi shocked face.

"Wait. We're friends?"

"Well... I guess. I do really want to be your friend." Fluttershy said.

Golden Dust sighed. "Your right. Even though your my friend, I'm scared." Golden Dust was on the verge of tears and she looked away from Fluttershy again. Fluttershy suddenly hugged Golden Dust as she cried.

"I know. I know your scared. I know because I was there once. But I got over my fear by trusting my friends. You need to trust me. You CAN trust me!" Golden Dust was shocked at first. But she relaxed and hugged Fluttershy back.

"I understand. I guess I can at least explain what makes me afraid to make friends." The girls sat down in two chairs and Golden Dust continued. "I used to live in the city and I had this friend named Twinkle Shine. We were so close together. But..." Golden Dust's tears were coming back. "Just over two years ago, she....She killed herself....I don't why she did it! Despite what my parents said, I still blamed myself for her death! I still do! If I was there for her more, maybe I could've been able to tell what was bothering her!" Fluttershy made an assertive look and she grabbed to Golden's head to face Fluttershy, and Fluttershy spoke.

"Golden Dust! I'm sure that nothing was your fault for her death. She probably just didn't tell you because she didn't want to burden you with her problems. Either way, NOTHING you did made her kill herself!"

"Than why does it hurt so much!?"

"It hurts so much because you love her! You thought of her as your bestest friend. You may miss her, but you have to let go. I know it's not that easy, but Twinkle Shine wouldn't want you to obsess over her death for the rest of your life. Now... Is there anything else in the story that you forgot to mention?"

"Oh... Well.... I guess that since she passed away, I became very depressed. I wouldn't talk about anything else and I was constantly sad. Eventually, the other students didn't want to be around me anymore because of my depression, so they all stopped talking to me. My friend killing herself and everyone else in school refusing to talk to me because of my sad attitude, BOTH only made my depression even harder to deal with. Finally, I tried to kill myself. But I failed. After that, my parents had enough and decided to send me to another school..."

Fluttershy looked down. That explained everything. Every little detail she said explained all of her questions. The bell suddenly rung. Fluttershy and Golden Dust stood up and gathered their stuff and just before they left the room, Fluttershy said, "Thank you Golden. We can continue this tomorrow." Fluttershy than walked down the hallway and Golden Dust smiled before she moved on to her next class.
