When the unexpected happens
She just sat there. She just waited there. Not that there was much else to do. She checked the clock again. It was now 1:30 pm. She took another deep breath trying to calm her nerves. It failed. She wiped another tear away as she tried to hold it together. It failed. Soon the tears ran across her face as her body shook. She pulls her hat down and buries her face into the sweaty darkness; hopping that when she looks up she’ll be anywhere else, but she’s not. She’s still sitting in the hospital as doctors and nurses try to put her brother back together. She checks the clock. It’s now 1:33.
Soon enough the sound of hoof steps come clanging through the sterile halls. She expected them to come as soon as they heard what happened, but part of her didn’t want them to come. Not that she didn’t appreciate her friends being there for her; It’s just she didn’t much feel like dealing with all the questions and panic that was to come from them. She checked the clock again. It was now 1:35 pm. She took another deep breath to calm her nerves. It failed.
As the minutes turned into and hours and as the hours dragged on her friends one by one took a seat next to her. One by one they all got the hint that she was not in the mood to answer questions or even talk really. So they all sat there. Waiting. When suddenly the mare jumped to her hooves and at a break neck speed ran down the hall and out of the hospital. She ran from the hospital and through the streets of ponyville. She ran up the dirt road leading to the farm. She ran through the gate and stopped. There he was still working like always and she felt like such a fool for being waiting around the hospital half the day when she should have been at home helping him like she was supposed to do instead of going to the bar the night before and getting drunk and sleeping with ra-
“Excuse me miss Apple Jack. My name is Cross Stitch and I’m your brother’s surgeon. Me and my team have finished operating on your brother and have done all we can. That being said I have some good news and some bad news.”
She looked him in the eye swallowing what felt like a massive frog in her throat. “This is all mah fault.”
