I am a loving mother and wife to my… Former husband Eclipse Lulamoon. Oh he was such a charming man. A bit of show off, but still a great father and husband that I will always love. He died last year in a car “accident” after his brakes stopped working. Everyone thinks it was just an accident, but I know the truth. My husband was murdered. Just like the rest besides me and my daughter Trixie. She is currently resting in bed in the other room while I was looking at myself in the mirror in the bathroom. We are currently in a motel in the bad part of town. It's not ideal, but we are low on options at the moment. Trixie doesn't know about all this yet and after tonight I hope she never will. Trixie is only 7 years old, but is very brave, kind, and has the Lunamoon ego. I don't know if it's genetic or if it's something else, but every member of the Lunamoon family has huge ego about something. Mine is my looks, Eclipse was his intelligence, and Trixie’s was her magic. We may be boastful, but we most of the time we can can back up our claims. I mean look at my figure. I can top any model in the world with figure like this even after having a child. You can bet your ass that momma still got it. Just look- I then stopped checking myself in the mirror and gave myself a good slap to the face. Now is not the time melody. I was a beautiful mate though I stood slightly taller than a average unicorn with a dark red fur and a white mane with hint of blue just like me daughter. Trixie’s father was by noble stands a surprise since he was a earth pony. He had the same fur coat as our daughter with long dark grey mane. Oh he might have been a bragger, but he did have magnificent mind when it came to the magical quantum theory spectrum. I hardly understood a word he said when in ‘lecture mode’ ,but I always loved him. And I know he loves me and Trixie just as much. Speaking of I think it's time to spend a little time with her. I then step out of the bathroom to see Trixie laying on the only bed playing with a toy cars. She noticed me and immediately stopped. “Hey mom am I going to be in bathroom for a long time when I get older like you do?” I simply chuckled as walked over gave my daughter a hug. “Most likely. That's kinda a natural thing for women.” “Does it really take that long to go poopy?” I couldn't help but laugh at that. “Oh no sweetie it's not like that.” “Then why do they do it?” “You will find out for yourself when you get older. Now what we're doing while I was in the bathroom?” She then cheered up completely forgotten what we just talked about. Thank Luna for children’s short attention spans. “The Great And Powerful Trixie! Is using her great magic to make the already fast cars go to super speeds! Watch and be amazed!” Trixie then used her magic to make the cars do a lot of impressive tricks. It was adorable too impress me with magic. Honestly for a filly her age it is impressive. She even knows a firework spells as well. Unfortunately those were harder to control. Glad we got it learned properly quick before she burned down all of canterlot. I then clap my as she finishes with her tricks. “Another great performance Trixie.” “That's The Great And Powerful Trixie to you mother!” “Now Trixie, it's very rude to talk to mother like that.” “I will talk to my mother however I wish!” “I wouldn't advise that, not unless you want to get attacked by the…” I grabbed Trixie and started tickling. “Tickle Monster!” Trixie struggling not to laugh and talk at the same time. “No Haha I'll Behave Haha Just Stop Please Hahahaha!” I continued tickling for a few seconds. “Well, since you said please.” I stopped and said. “Now Trixie remember never be too rude to somebody or it just might come to bite you in butt later in life.” “What will bite Trixie’s butt?” I just simply chuckled. “No Trixie, it's just an expression. It means that if you do something bad or be mean to someone most likely that thing or person will come back to return the favor.” Trixie then looked sad. “But, Trixie doesn't want to be bad.” “Oh no Trixie you are not a bad pony not in the slightest.” I then pulled Trixie into a hug. “You are the best filly that I could ever ask for. I would never let anything bad happen to you by and any means. So, always remember the mommy loves you.” Trixie then gave the best cutie sad eyes she ever laid her eyes on. “Promise?” I gave the most motherly smile I could to my daughter. “I promise.” Trixie then hugs back as tight as she can. I made sure I hugged back tight as well. When I let go Trixie went back to playing with her toy cars. “Hey Trixie mind keeping it quiet for a bit. Mommy needs to take nap alright.” “Alright mother. I'll be quiet as possible. So Says The Great And Powerf-” “Shhhh!” “Oh, sorry.” I simply chuckled. She then laid down in bed and gently went to sleep. I look at my surroundings. I appear to be in a dark black void. There is some form of ground I am standing, but I can't really see anything. But I know someone is here. A old friend. “Nightmare. I know you're here. I know you like to make an entrance, but now is not the time.” Then appeared in A smoky flash was the infamous nightmare moon. She stranded tall completely without her armor or a cutie mark standing before me with a reassuring smile. “Sorry melody old habits die hard.” I simply smirked. “I spose I should have expected that from a previous mental patient.” “Hey now I know I wasn't exactly same when you found me, but that what happens when your trapped in a limbo like prison for 900 years with nothing to do.” I laughed a bit. “Best decision I ever made when I stopped using that family dream ring. Or else I wouldn't have my best friend.” “Oh stop, you make me blush. It still amazes me that a simple mare like you could redeem me of all ponies.” I then spoke in a matter of fact tone. “Yea especially after killing Celestia and taking over equestria for ten years before Luna took control and blasted herself with the elements of harmony.” “The elements may not be able to kill, but being blasted out of a physical body still hurts like hell.” I chuckled. “I bet.” We both laughed very hard after that. Things quickly went into awkward silence after that. Nightmare then had a worried expression. She knew why I was here. Nightmare then spoke. “Are you sure you want to this? Is this really the only way? Please, there has to be another way?” “I'm sorry nightmare I don't have a-” Nightmare interpreted a little louder then she was intending. “No! There has to be something?! Please Melody.” Nightmare was grabbing onto melody. Nightmare was doing her best not to cry. “I don't… I can't stay in the darkness alone… Not again… Please. I can't lose you… I don't want to be alone.” Melody was a tiny bit shocked to see nightmare act like this, but I suppose being trapped in dark isolation for over 900 years will do that to you. So I did the only thing I could. I hugged back and tried to calm her down. “Shh. It's ok. Look, I know you don't want to lose a friend, but please, I need someone to make sure my daughter is safe from the ponies after me. Please, I know we won't see each other again, but please for me keep my daughter safe. Promise? I want to make sure that you will keep her safe. Please nightmare. Promise me you will keep Trixie safe. Please.” Nightmare looked into my eyes. The eyes of a desperate mother. A woman that has no other options left. Nightmare then spoke and hugged at the same time trying not to cry. Still trying to keep her composure.  “I Promise Melody.” “Thank you. And it's alright. It's just us here. You can let it out.” Nightmare couldn't hold the flood gates anymore and cried into my fur with all she had. Nightmare couldn't stop crying for 5 minutes straight. After she let it out all her tears we let go as nightmare tried to recompose herself. She then spoke. “Goodbye old friend. Thanks for helping me all these years. I'll keep my promise.” I smiled starting to awake. “I know you will.” I sat quietly in my husband’s study at his old desk. I haven't gone in it since Eclipse died. But, considering my situation I figured it was about time I went in. I sat in his old chair awaiting for the inevitable. I sat there waiting with one of my hooves behind my back. I am currently in the Lunamoon mansion. A light and dark blue two story Victorian style mansion. It came with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a study which is where I am, a large kitchen, another large dining room, a basement, and finally a garage filled with a few sports cars. The current room was green wall paper with large book shelf covering the entire left wall, a few paintings, some nicknacks, a map of equestria painted on the ceiling, his dark brown desk, a big window that points to the backyard of the house, and green swivel chair I was currently sitting in waiting as the seconds go by. Waiting. I then decide to look in the drawer of my husbands desk. I found a pack of cigarettes and a lighter. I haven't smoked since high school, but… “What the hell.” I then uses my magic to light a cigarette and start smoking. Then a voice from the entrance of the study. “You know those things can kill you right?” I then look to see a female bat pony wearing the classic night guard armor except with the armor being black instead of dark purple. She also had a scar going down her left eye to what looks like a blind eye. I then replied. “Something tells this won't be the cause of my death tonight. Especially to a crazy cult called the children of the night.” The mare just had a smug expression.“I would recommend not to speak so insulting about my husband’s organization Melody Lunamoon. You don't want to end up like your husband, do you?” “Oh go fuck yourself. Just because you lunatics can't be the vessels for your queen you need to something to blame your bloodthirst on. And your husband is the craziest of them all.” The bat pony then started to look more agitated. “Please don't speak so rude of my husband. Or else your death will be more painful.” The bat pony unicorn then pulled out her pistol from her belt and pointed it at Melody’s head. She then looked around to see if the filly was here. “Where is your spoiled little child?” I the spoke as intimidating as I could. “It will be a cold day in hell before I tell you.” Before she could respond with she just got a call on her walkie talkie. She picked up to hear another pony. Sounds male. “Hey Solitaire Stare. We checked the whole house and we can't find the kid, but we might think she is in the basement since it has the door with the most locks on it. Should we breach it?” Solitaire just smirked and said. “Go ahead.” “Roger that. Do you want some back up or something for the mother?.” Solitaire Stare them looked at melody. “No. I got this. Over and out.” She turned off her walkie talkie and put it on her belt. “So miss melody. Do you have any final requests?” I then sighed. “Can I finish my cigarette?” Solitaire rolled her eyes then nodded. As I smoke with a grin on my face. Solitaire then spoke. “Why are you smiling? Have you accepted your family's demise?” I simply looked her with grin. “No. I just find it funny how easy you think this is.” Solitaire then looked confused. “What do you mean? I have you at gunpoint, my men are about to kill the last of the Lunamoon family, and there is no way of escape. I think it's safe to say that we are going to win.” I still kept my grin. “That's what you think. After all, a mother will always protect her children I can promise you that. And I always keep my promises.” Before Solitaire could respond her one of her men shouting from the walkie talkie. She looked away from me for a second and picked up the walkie talkie to hear what's being said. “THE BASEMENT IS FILLED TO THE BRIM WITH EXPLOSIVES!!! EVERYONE RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!” When she looked back to see me holding the detonator in the hoof I had behind my back. Solitaire stared at the me in total fear. I still kept my grin as I spoke my final words. “I'll see you in hell.” She activated the detonator. BOOM!!! Meanwhile in the ponyville orphanage is Trixie resting in one of their beds sound asleep completely unaware of the events of what just happened. Trixie was sitting in a dark endless void. She was alone, confused, and scared. She called out if anyone was there. “Hello? Is anyone here?” A voice from right behind her. “Hello and yes.” Trixie jumped a little in surprise. She turned around to see the tallest pony she has ever seen. She has wings, a horn, aqua eyes, black and blue fur, and cool looking mane that looks like it was made of the night itself. “Hello little Trixie. It is a pleasure to finally meet you.” Trixie then spoke in shy tone. “Who… Who are you?” The tall mare then spoke in almost a kind and almost motherly tone. “I am a very close friend your mother. My name is nightmare moon, but you can call me however you can call me whatever you like.” “Hmm… Nightmare moon. Why does that sound fa… fa…” “I believe the word your looking for is familiar?” “Yea that's is it.” Nightmare then looked a little disappointed and looked away from Trixie. “Well… I don't exactly have a nice past. I'm not proud of it. But, I'm trying my best redeem myself. Your is a very special pony to me and I am making sure I keep my promise.” “What promise was that?” “To make sure that I protect you.” Trixie was a little confused by that, but she calmed down when she saw how sincere nightmare was being. “Can I call you moony? It's close to your name and it sounds less thre… thre…” “Threatening?” Trixie nodded. Nightmare though about for a few seconds. “I won't mind. You can call me that.” Trixie cheered up a bit more. “Ok Moony. Can Trixie ask you something?” Nightmare chuckled remembering that Trixie only talks in third person. “Sure go ahead.” “When will Trixie see my mother again?” Nightmare’s expression almost immediately turned sad. “I'm afraid that you won't see her for a very long time.” Trixie then started to realize what she actually meant. “Is… Is… mother going to see daddy?” Nightmare didn't know how to respond to that, but she simply nodded. Trixie then looked sad, but then spoke again. “Is mother at least happy?” Nightmare was really caught off guard by that question. “What?” Trixie still keeping the same sad expression. “Is mother happy with daddy?” Nightmare was absolutely dumbfounded. She didn't know Trixie would be so mature about this because of her age. But she did her best to reassure the filly. She then bent down and got closer to Trixie. “I believe she is. And I know they both still love you very much.” Trixie still looking sad then looked directly in nightmare’s eyes and said. “You really think so?” Nightmare then gave the warmest smile she could and Spoke as reassuring as possible. “I know so.” Trixie then got up and got closer to nightmare and started to hug her with a few tears in her eyes. “Will you stay with me? Trixie doesn't want to be alone.” Nightmare then hugged back and spoke in the same motherly tone. “I promise.”
