Two Assassins and a Crazy King
Installment 1: Gaining entry
Load Full Story“Hard way it is then?” I called out before quickly rushing forward with supernatural speed. I quickly slipped behind the crystal soldiers back as I reached forward with my talons and took a hold of his head as I jerked it to the side with a satisfying crunch, before letting go as his body hit the ground with a cold thud. I wiped my talons off in the ground as my partner came up behind me and said,
“Oh great you've done it again Jay! I mean, really, Jay, is it too much to ask for you to hide the body!” He said in an aggravated tone.
“Stop complaining. I got the job done didn’t I? Besides, where do you expect me to hide a body out in the middle of a freaking snow covered wasteland?!” I let out a long sigh as I took in our surroundings. Me and my partner, Gemini, are an elite assassination team that works under the orders of Princess Celestia. 3 Weeks ago we were sent to the crystal empire with one clear goal, Kill King Sombra and end the war.
Simple enough right? Wrong. King Sombra is protected by an elite guard, as well as an entire army under his full control. And this is precisely why Celestia sent us: Jay’s Cry and Gemini.
“Now that that's taken care of, we need to find a ways into the empire that can get us past the guards,” said Gemini as he slid the body into a nearby river.
“So let me get this, straight” I said as gemini walked back from the river. “We have to infiltrate the highest security area in all of Equestria without being discovered by Sombras army? And we have to get close enough to assassinate arguably one of the most powerful ponies in the world?” Gemini nodded as he responded with a matter-O-factly tone of voice,
“Yeah that pretty much sums it up,”
“Well then, this should be fun,” I replied in a sarcastic tone. “How about we do some scouting around the perimeter of the empire to see if we can find any entrance points?” I suggested to Gemini.
“Sounds good to me, but I do have one question: which way are we gonna check first?” he asked me.
“How about we go right first, since i’ll bet it’s the ‘right’ way,” I looked at Gemini with a smirk. He let out a sigh as he face hoofed before muttering in response,
“Shut Up, just please, shut up.”
“Fine, fun killer,” I shot back at him before gathering up my belongings. After we both had everything picked up, we started to move as stealthily as we could towards the outer perimeter of the empire. As we got closer, nothing stood out until what appeared to be a small hole in the thick crystal wall that surrounded the empire.
I crouched down low to the grown next to Gemini and whispered to him, “I think i've spotted a small hole in the wall, so i need you to have my back got it? Gemini nodded as I slowly made my ways as carefully as I could to the hole. Midway to the hole I was spotted by one of the guards on the wall.
“Guards, raise the alarms, there's an intruder down by the wall!” The guard yelled out from his perch.
“Well, isn't this just great?” I muttered as I unfurled my wings and took to the skies. A couple of minutes later we had a pile of dead bodies to throw in the river, as well as bloody talons and hooves.
After several minutes of clean up we finally got to investigate the hole in the wall and much to our approval the hole was just big enough for the duo to crawl through.
Several hours of crawling later…
After what felt like hours of crawling we finally found the holes exit which deposited us on the outer edge of the empire. As we exited the tunnel Gemini jumped out of the hole and started to run around and yell out,
“Sweet land! Oh I shall never leave you again!” As I watched him I rolled my eyes before replying,
“So now be need to find a way to eliminate Sombra’s personal guard before we go after him,” As I finished I looked over at Gemini as he nodded.”This should fun” I muttered to myself in a voice just low enough for Gemini to miss it.
Before we set off we each put on long cloaks with hoods as our disguises.
“This is the worst plan in the history of this war!”
“Shhhh! We have to keep it down so no one hears us! Gemini hissed at me. The two of us were walking along the streets of the crystal empire using shitty robes as our disguises. As we walked along the streets of the crystal empire what I saw disturbed me deeper than I would've ever imagined.
The streets were completely deserted, except for the few homeless ponies who were laying on the sides of streets. The buildings were all broken down with unhinged doors, broken windows, and cowering ponies that watched as we walked by.
“This is wrong” I whispered to Gemini.
“I know, Sombra must have little to no care for his citizens if this is the state of his empire,” Gemini whispered back.
“I guess that makes sense cons-”
“You two stay where you are!” The two of us whipped our heads forwards, to see three of Sombra’s soldiers walking towards. The three of them had full war gear on and looked ready for battle.
The one in the middle stepped forward and asked us for our names. We stayed silent hoping they would go away. After we refused the soldier on the left lept forward and pinned me to the wall.
Stay calm I told myself over and over.
“Come on spit it out we don’t have all day!” The soldier yelled into my ear before saying “You two are stubborn as griffons!”
My eyes lit with rage as a burning fury was let loose. I could stand his taunts and demands but that's where it ended! I would not stand insults to me kind!
I let out a battle cry as I wrapped my talons around the soldier's neck. The stallion quickly unpinned me as he used his hoofs to try and get my talons off of his neck. But it was to no avail as he fell loose in my talons.I dropped the soldier as the other two fled from the scene.
I looked over at Gemini and Smiled as he rolled his eyes. We were about to start walking again until we heard a sound from behind us. As we turned around we spotted a grey stallion motioning for us to follow him.
“This is a terrible idea,” Gemini grumbled as we followed him into the alley.
“Don’t jinx it” I responded as the stallion stopped in front of a wall. The stallion looked to make sure no one was looking before he motioned for us to follow him as he walked straight through the wall. We looked in disbelief for a couple of moments, before walking through the wall after him.
“Welcome to the crystal resistance!” Then stallion said as we entered a room filled with hundreds of ponies all wearing full battle armor.
“Wow…” was I could say to the massive army that stood before me.
