Fallout: A Brony Tale

22 Years later Alex has grown up and has become a very talented young woman with an amazing amount of imagination and creativity which she uses both of those a lot in her job as Vault 46's gunsmith. Because she is a gunsmith she works closely with the security staff of the Vault which to her isn't all that great as she and her father who is the commanding officer, do not have a very great relationship due to his very strict attitude.

"ALEX WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!" Conner shouts.

"Oh sorry dad I must have switched the guns by accident I'll go get yours now." Alex says calmly.

"I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT THE GUN ALEX, I'M TALKING ABOUT THIS!" Conner shouts while pointing at a picture of Rainbow Dash's cutie mark on the handle of the 10mm pistol.

"I'm sorry dad It's just a habit of mine I just really love those old MLP Holotapes Grandma gave me and I just have this urge to express it." Alex says nervously.

"*sigh* you now you SHOULD have grown out of that kid's show 13 years ago Alex, I'm glad your taking pride in that imagination of yours but come on you should be spending more time making the security staff 10mm pistols and not this My Little Pony stuff, what am I going to say to the Overseer the next time a radroach infestation appears and all are guns are covered in my little ponies? not to mention how much the other security officers would have laughed at me." Conner said crossly.

"*sigh* I really am sorry dad here's your real gun I promise this won't happen again." Alex said sadly.

"Good I hope not. Now finish up here and get back home the overseer has an announcement tomorrow morning and he wants the entire vault to hear it." Conner says.

"Okay." Alex says while hiding her disappointment.

"Damn I was really hoping to hang out with Jennifer tomorrow morning *sigh* oh well guess I'll have to reschedule." Alex thinks silently.

That night Alex instead of going to bed she stayed up to watch a couple episodes of My Little Pony Season 4.

"Wow Twilight is soooo cool she reminds me so much of myself." Alex thinks in awe.

"To think she became an Alicorn Princess, I wonder if I have some sort of special purpose one that certainly doesn't involve staying in this place?" Alex wonders.

before heading to bed she descides to read a couple chapters of her favorite MLP fan fiction Fallout Equestria.

"It's really uncanny how much this pre-war story parallels how the world is now, maybe the author was a time traveler *giggle* like Dr. Whooves and Derpy." Alex thinks to herself.

suddenly Alex starts to overhear her parents having a conversation in the other room, curious she puts her ear to the cold metal door and listens.

"Honey I think your overreacting I mean her fascination with that show has been a positive influence on her life." Mabel says to Conner. "I mean she has never misbehaved, she did very well in school, she's very talented and intelligent, and is known through out the Vault for her kind and selfless nature you should go easier on her and for once be proud of her." Mabel tells Conner.

"I Don't know Mabel I just feel like this has gotten out of control I mean she's covered every last inch of her life with that show and now she's listening to that damned wasteland radio station "Pone-3 Radio" I just don't want her to get made fun of Mabel." Conner says to Mabel.

"Are you serious, Conner?  The entire Vault is practically in love with her!  Even the security staff like her!  It seems to me that you just can't move past the small thing that makes our daughter different than the rest of the Vault, and I think you are worried YOU will be laughed at Conner, not Alex!" Mabel says sternly to Conner.

"Whatever Mabel I still agree with the Overseer's orders end of discussion." Conner says before leaving the room.

Alex then hears both her parents exit the living room and enter their bed room. "Damn I knew dad had a strong opinion about me being a pegasister but for him to have a full on argument with mom about it that just seems extreme for something so small about me I'm glad mom is defending me, though I wonder what dad meant by "the Overseer's orders" what orders is he talking about and who gave them to him? Alex thinks to herself. oh well I'm pretty sure I'll find out about it in the morning." Alex thinks to herself.

Suddenly the doors of her bedroom slide open and her mother walks in.

"Hey honey did you hear some of that?" Mabel asks Alex.

"Just a bit, sorry I didn't mean to eavesdrop." Alex says back to her mother.

"That's okay sweetie, but I'm sure you heard the part about the Overseers orders?" Mabel asks Alex.

"I heard dad mention it but I didn't here what the orders were, Why do you ask?" Alex asks her mom.

"Because that's part of the reason I'm giving you these." Mabel then holds out a large backpack and a holotape.

"The holotape is able to store up to 5 terabytes of data and the backpack is large enough to store all you're pony related clothes, posters, and books so before you go to bed I suggest you pack everything up quickly and quietly so your father doesn't hear you, and on the front there's two pockets for your My Little Pony full season holotapes and your pony hologames and while you're at it start backing up your Terminal's data then hide the holotape in jour pipboy's holotape player." Mabel then hands over the items to Alex.

"But mom why do I have to do this?" Alex asks her mother.

"Please sweetie if you want to keep all your My Little Pony stuff you have to do as I say okay." Mabel reassures Alex. Mabel then leaves Alex to do as she is told." Alex's mother them leaves the room to return to bed.

"That was weird, "if you want to keep your My Little Pony stuff you have to do as I say" what did she mean?" "is dad planning something drastic? What are the Overseers orders?" Alex asks herself many more questions but she snaps out of it and gets to work on storing away all her My Little Pony things.

"heh I see Dana was the one who made this backpack only she would go would go out of her way to knit an image of Twilight's cutie mark on the front, and I'm just going to guess that mom got this data storage holotape from Daniel, I can tell cuz he wrote his initials on the back "DM" Daniel Mannerman." Thought Alex as he inspects the items given to her by her mother.

"Oh that reminds me! Alex then rushes to her dresser and begins pushing it out of the way revealing a safe with a keypad.

"CMC3BFF." whispers Alex as she types the password.

As the safe door opens it reveals a 22Lr carbine rifle with a picture of Fluttershy below the receiver and the word Fluttershy written with pink permanent marker in front of the rear sight, the 10mm pistol with Rainbow Dash's cutie mark on the grip that Alex's father got angry with her about, along with a black tactical belt with Rainbow Dash's cutie mark on one holster and Applejack's cutie mark on the other, a black bandolier with a rifle holster on the back with Fluttershy's cutie mark, a purple mlp themed pipboy shell with a picture of the elements of harmony on the back, a yellow medical pack with the emblem of the ministry of peace from Fallout Equestria, upon opening it to check if the contents are still ok she sees 3 stimpacks, a pack of mentats, 4 cans of purified water, some bandages, 2 bags of radaway, 2 bottles of rad-X, and 2 syringes of med-X.

"Good there all still here." Alex tells herself before closing the med kit and mounting it on the side of her back pack, she then pulls out of the safe a canteen with a yellow 46 on it with the rainbow lightning bolt of rainbow dash's cutie mark going through the 6, and last she pulls out a custom replica of the Lil'Mac revolver from Fallout Equestria and puts it in the Applejack holster of her tactical belt.

After her room is completely empty of My Little Pony merchandise she checks the clock on her pipboy and finds it's 2:00 AM.

"Fuck I still have to back up my terminal!" Alex says worryingly.

"She quickly flips a switch inside the safe and the inside begins to expand, the backpack just barely fit through the entrance but it was successfully put in the safe, Alex then proceeds to close the safe and retypes the password to lock it, next she inserted the data storage holotape into her terminal and it automatically began to copy all the data on the terminal's data on to it self, it copied all things from pictures, full episodes of mlp, fanfics, emails, games, game mods, 3D models, and blueprints for guns and robots, and surprisingly it was finished after 20 minutes.

"Damn Daniel you are a wizard with computers." Alex thinks to herself.

Alex then puts the holotape in her pipboy to check if all the data on her terminal made it onto the holotape.

"Yep it's all here every last bit of data on the terminal made it safely thank god and I still have 5 terabytes left I think I could fit an entire robot's AI on this thing. Alex says in relief."

After all was said and done she went to bed and fell asleep. The next morning Alex gets up gets a shower, brushes her hair, then puts on the one mlp themed Vault 46 jumpsuit she didn't put into her backpack and headed to her gun store, a couple hours of repairing guns for the security staff and selling guns to the security staff later the overseer's loud speaker activates.

Attention Vault 46 residence please gather in the main hall for a major announcement. Overseer Adam orders.

Well it seems all my questions I asked last night will be answered. Alex inquires.

While walking down the hallway to the main hall Alex comes by her friend Daniel Mannerman and his Mr. Handy Charles.

"Hey Daniel hey Charlie What's up." Alex asks happily.

"Oh hey Alex." says Daniel

"Good day miss Alex." Charlie says cheerily.

"Thanks for that holotape you gave my mom yesterday." Alex says to Daniel

"Yo...Your welcome." Daniels says back to Alex

"Heh awkward as always Daniel." Alex thinks to her self silently.

"Hey do you know what this announcement the overseer wants us to hear is going to be about?" Daniel asks Alex

"I heard my dad tell mom about some orders the overseer received but I don't know what they are though." Alex responds.

"Orders? Orders from who?" Daniel wonders

"From Vault-Tec perhaps, even with Vault-Tec destroyed the orders could have been sent from a automatic system." Charlie suggests.

"Maybe but that doesn't answer what these orders are about." Daniel says to Charles.

"Oh well we'll find out soon enough." Alex says to Daniel

"Yea anyway we'll see you later Alex." Daniel says to Alex

"Ta ta miss Alex." Charles says to Alex

"Bye you guys." Alex waves goodbye to Daniel and Charlie.

After 5 minutes of walking from her gun store to the main hall it seemed the overseer had just arrived.

"Oh yea made it just in time!" Alex thought to her self

"Residence of Vault 46 it is with great pride that I tell you that I have been contacted by none other than Vault-Tec." Overseer Adam declares with some curious whispers in the crowd.

"They have contacted me to give orders, orders that I hesitate to follow but will still do so with loyalty and pride in my heart." Overseer Adam speaks loudly.

"From now on entertainment of any kind is banned and any resident that refuses to follow this new rule will meet with imprisonment and potentially, exile." Overseer Adam declares as the crowd gasps in shock.

"Unfortunately my orders require me to make an example of the most entertaining resident in Vault 46." Overseer Adam declares aggressively as Alex's heart begins racing.

"Oh shit! Mom said everyone loves me to dad! Okay okay calm down Alex he's your dad he would never turn you in." Alex thinks to herself to prevent herself from breathing any faster until she notices her father standing right behind her.

"*gasp* dad?" Alex says quietly desperately trying to hide her fear but to no prevail.

The crowd begins to spread out to give Conner some room with a shocked and worried look on there faces as Conner grabs Alex's arms.

"Dad! What are you doing!?" Alex cries as her father begins pushing her closer to the overseer.

"Alex it pains me to do this, it truly does, but an example must be made to ensure that order is kept." Overseer Adam says to a scared Alex and a worried crowd.

"DAD! What is wrong with you, I'm your daughter" Alex screams desperately as she and her father exit the hall and into the stair way to the Vault's prison with the vault's population watching with widened eyes with some having hands over there mouths, and others having there mouths gaping.

When they arrive to the prison cells Alex's father shoves her inside one of them, she then loses her balance and falls backwards, her bottom landing on the cold hard floor and her back hitting the side of the metal bed as her father shuts the creaky medal cell door.

"Dad what's the matter with you?" Alex says to her father on the verge of tears.

Without even looking back Conner just exits the prison area.

"FUCK!" Alex screams in anger than bangs the cell bars ounce than sits on the medal bed, hides her face in her knees and begins crying.

"How....could he do this" Alex cries.

Later that night Alex is awoken to the footsteps coming down the stairs, she opens her eyes and wipes the dry tears from the bottom of her eyes and waits for who ever it is to arrive.

"Ms. Alex are you awake?" Charlie says quietly.

"*sniffle* yea, I am now." Alex says while wiping the remainder of dry tears from her cheek.

"Sorry dear I wish we didn't have to wake you but it's important." Dana says to Alex.

"What are you two doing down here, what if you get caught, and Charlie where's Daniel?" Alex says to Dana and Charlie.

"Hush love, we have something for you." Dana says to Alex before Charlie reaches into the compartment in his back and pulls out Alex's backpack.

"My backpack! how did you get it?" Alex asks the two.

"Your mother let us and Daniel into your room to find it and your mother remembered the safe you had installed, and luckily that ol' hacking module you installed in me came into good use after all." Charlie says to Alex.

"As for Daniel, when we where on are way here we heard they were put under close observation to make sure they didn't act out against the overseer. Lucky we got done when we did right?" Dana explains to Alex

"Now sweetie, Charlie, Daniel, your mother, and I have come up with a plan to get you out so listen up. We've been hearing lots of hissing and rustling in the walls lately so it's safe to assume there will be another radroach infestation soon, when that happens Charlie is going to come down here and break you out with his laser blaster, then you both are going to make a break for the vault entrance and your going to leave." Dana says seriously to Alex.

"But Charlie what about Daniel?" Alex asks Charlie.

"Mr. Daniel has given me specific instructions to serve you from the infestation and then on." Charlie says to Alex.

"Okay I'm in." Alex says with confidence.

"Good now just sit here and be patient till the infestation. And Alex, you were the best apprentice I ever had keep practicing your knitting." Dana says to Alex.

After Dana and Charlie leave Alex lays back down on the cold metal bench like bed, she winces as her hands touch the metal because it was so cold.

Alex is later awoken ounce again to the sounds of yelling, screaming, and gunshots, and looks up to see a radroach crawling on the outside of her cell only for it to be shot with a laser coming from the stairs.

"Ms. Alex it's time!!" Charlie says quickly as he begins to use his laser to melt the lock on her cell.

When the lock is off and the door slides open Charlie hands Alex's backpack to her.

"Here you'll need this incase we come across some radroaches we can't avoid." Charlie says as he hands Alex her 22Lr carbine rifle.

"Thanks but keep the backpack, it might slow us down, just give it to me when we're outside the vault." Alex says to Charlie.

Alex, gun in hand, follows Charlie to the entrance of the vault to make there escape when they hear a desperate cry for help.

"HELP!" Cries a nearby security guard.

Hearing this, Alex instinctively runs to his aid.

"Ms. Alex are you sure this is wise, I mean he might drag you back to that cell." Charlie says worryingly.

"I can't just leave him to die Charlie." Alex says  to Charlie

upon arriving at the security guard's  location Alex could see why he was in trouble, this security guard had a radroach pulling on his jumpsuit's leg, a radroach was on his back attempting to bite through his armor, and there was a small radroach was on the visor of the guard's security helmet  fluttering it wings to distract him with the security guard desperately trying to get it off, and it appeared the guard's pistol was out of ammo, so in order to save him Alex fired a couple warning shots at the radroach pulling on his leg but it just hissed at her, seeing she couldn't scare the radroaches away from him Alex activated V.A.T.S to make it more likely to hit the radroaches and not the security guard. "*pow* *pow* *pow*" The radroaches fell to the ground lifeless.

"*pant* Thank you kindly for the assistance I thought I was a goner......wait a minute aren't you Conner's girl, the gunsmith?  " the security guard asked.

"Ummm....uh......ye....yes." Alex said hesitantly.

"Relax I won't send you back to prison." the security guard said calmly to Alex.

"Oh thank you! but why?" Alex asked.

"For one you saved my life and sending you to prison wouldn't be the best way to show gratitude, and for two I believe the overseer was wrong to do that to you anyway." The security guard said to Alex.

"But never mind that you better skedaddle before another security guard who isn't as nice as me comes by. hurry! " the security guard said to Alex.

"Thank you!" Alex said while she and Charlie ran quickly to the entrance.

When they finally arrived at the entrance Charlie approached the vault door control panel.

"Give me a moment while a hack the door mum."  Charlie said to Alex.

"Alright." Alex said to Charlie.

To pass the time, Alex leaned up against the wall and drank some Nuka-Cola when she suddenly hears a familiar voice that makes her drop her Nuka-Cola bottle and makes her blood run cold.

"ALEX!" Conner said crossly.

"DAD!" Alex said with a mixture of surprise and terror.

"I THOUGHT I HEARD SOMETHING IN HERE!" Conner said sternly.

"Stay away from her!" Charlie screamed at Conner before he fired a laser at the floor next to him causing him to jump behind cover.

"MS. ALEX WE NEED TO GO!" Charlie yelled before she sprinted for the door.

"ALEX STOP!" Conner yelled before pulling his gun out and firing a couple shots at Alex.

"GAHAAAA!!!" Alex cried as one of Conner's bullets crazes her leg but she keeps sprinting and Conner shuts the door behind her.

"Blimey we made it hooray for us, yes?.....Alex?" Charlie says as Charlie notices Alex sitting on the ground crying while holding the small bleeding wound on her leg.

"Oh dear Ms. Alex you're bleeding! Here take your backpack back" Charlie says before handing Alex her backpack.

Alex grabs the custom Ministry Of Peace first aid kit box on her backpack and opens it then grabs a stimpacks and a roll of bandages, she the raps the bandages around the wound and injects the stimpacks into her thigh.

"He....he shot me...MY dad shot me." Alex says to Charlie.

"He did indeed, it's despicable how his loyalty to Overseer Adam is greater than his loyalty to his own family." Charlie says to Alex with a small bit of anger in his voice.

"Come on mum get up we Can't just stay here the rest of are lives, we have a post nuclear world to explore." Charlie says calmly as he helps Alex up and letting her put wait on his pincer arm to help her walk.
