A little colt could be seen running around the castle, trying to get beyond the guards that were casing him. He made a sharp turn towards a room, where he hid from the guards. He was sure he was safe, until a pony found him. Then he knew he was in deep trouble.
"Hey! No fair!" The little colt pouted.
"You know your not allowed to run in the castle Dusk."
"Sorry aunty."
Dusk didn't get why he wasn't allowed to run around the castle, he saw guards running around. But then again, they WERE guards. Plus, he thought that the 'No running around the castle' rule, was to keep him safe and unharmed. His aunt made it clear that he couldn't run around the castle, but he was allowed to come to the day court.
Celestia pretty much knew that Dusk would run around the castle no matter what, but it was still a rule to not run around. But Dusk was still young, so it would take time for him to actually follow that rule.
"Dusk, what's the reason for running around the castle this time?"
"Idiot guards tried to get me to sleep."
"They just think your tired during the day."
"....Oh. Hey aunty?"
"Yes Dusk?"
"Where's mommy?"
That question got Celestia off guard. How was she going to answer that? What was she going to say? 'Sorry Dusk, but I pretty much kicked mommy's ass all the way to the moon'? Celestia knew that Dusk thought that his mother was on a trip, and she had told him that she would be back 2 months from now.
Dusk had believed that his mom was on a trip, but she didn't come back when the two moths passed. He was getting confused, and he wanted to see his mommy. He didn't get to see her in forever. He wanted to meet his mother, yet it seemed like it was going to be a long time until he could.
"Dusk, mommy's....well she's....*Sigh* Dusk, I need to tell you something."
"What aunty?"
"Dusk, when you were a baby, there was a fight. Between me and mommy. Well not between me and mommy, but someone was pretending to be mommy."
"What happened?"
"Things got pretty bad, and I had to send the evil pony away."
"Where?"
"....The moon."
Dusk started to shake, even though he had only heard a little bit of the story about the fight and how it ended, he was still scared. Celestia tried her best to calm Dusk down, soon his shaking stopped. Dusk looked at the sky, it was almost evening. He looked back at his aunt and back at the sky.
"Mommy's where?"
"The moon Dusk. For a thousand years."
Celestia saw that Dusk was getting teary eyed. Dusk didn't even see that he was getting teary eyed, he wasn't surprised when he felt his aunt's wing pulling him into a hug.
"Why? Why is mommy on the moon aunty?"
"Dusk, something happened to mommy and something needed to be done."
"But why send her to the moon?"
"I didn't expect to send her to the moon Dusk. I'm sure that she's happy that your growing up."
That same night, Dusk was staying with his aunt. He was sleeping peacefully, until he heard a voice talking with his aunt. He didn't know the voice well, but it could just be a guard or something.
"Princess Celestia, About the young filly that signed up for the class...."
"I'm sure she'll be a wonder student."
"And what happens when she meets Dusk?"
"I'm sure they'll get along great."
Dusk stayed sleeping, after the voice disappeared he heard his aunt speak again. But this time, it sounded like she was crying her heart out.
"I'm so sorry Dusk. I didn't mean to strip you from your mother."
What did she mean by that? She didn't do anything to him or his mother. He was sure that his aunt calmed down, but that was until he heard a voice. It sounded calm and oddly familiar.
"It's not your fault."
"Yes it is! If I had only listened, then..."
"You need to let go of the pain. And rise Dusk."
"Your right. I do need to rise Dusk.....For you."
"I'm sure you'll do a wonder job. He'll meet me one day."
"Your right. He will."
Was that his mother that was talking with his aunt? What did they mean by 'One day?' Why couldn't just meet her now? She was in the room right? So why not now? Why another day? All he knew was, his aunt was crying while talking with his mother. He was surprised when he felt a hoof brushing his mane out of his face, it could just be his aunt.
"One day Dusk, one day."
How long would he have to wait? Just how long? Could he actually wait? It was only a matter of time before this thousand years banishment was over right? So, how many more years would he have to wait? Dusk wasn't sure he could wait anymore, he was sure that his aunt was getting more sad as the years went now.
' I don't want to wait.'
'You need to Dusk.'
'Mommy?!'
'Yes Dusk. Don't worry, we'll meet one day.'
'One day?'
'Yes Dusk. One day. You just need to wait for that day.'
'But I don't want to wait!'

Okay so there's the sequel to Baby of the night. I might have a sequel to this when he actually meets his mother, and spends time with her. But I don't know if I'll do a sequel to this. Might happen, might not.
