My name is Doctor. Not Doctor whooves. A lot of ponies confuse me for the pony who plays the 10th doctor whooves. I may not be Doctor whooves but we have a lot in common. I have been cursed with immortality well technically long lasting life. I also seem to carry a curse of bringing bad luck and death with me where ever I go. Everypony I have ever cared about is dead. Well except for two ponies. It was a vices cycle of sadness and disappointment. Until I meant a very special pony.
Now you have to understand I made a promise to myself years ago that I would never get close to any pony. But we all know that the only reason I'm writing this is because of course I broke that promise. A long while ago I moved to the sleepy little town called Ponyville. A town where everypony knew everypony. And a new pony was the talk of the town for weeks. It was a change of pace sense I had been living in Canterlot for a while so leaving for the small town made sense to me. A new quite place great to research time travel without raising suspicions. When I got their a bright pink pony by the name of Pinkie pie greeted and showed me around town. From town land marks such as sweet Apple archers to the golden oaks library. It used to be a town exclusively inhabited by earth ponies and you could tell by their traditions. Which was good news for an earth pony such as myself. But by the time I had processed the thought, Pinkie pie ended the neck snappingly fast tour at the town's bakery, Sugar Cube Corner. That's when I met her. A grey pegasus mare with a blond mane. Her name is Derpy. I still don't know what it was about her that made me realize that she was going to change my life. But she did and I'm forever greatest to her. She said hello to me before leaving with a basket of muffins. Pinkie told me who she was and that she was the mail mare for part of the town. I hadn't realized how lonely I had been till I started to talk to pinkie. She asked the usual questions like where I was from and why I moved to Ponyville. It was actually pretty nice to talk to another pony after years of never even knowing my neighbors. After I was done talking to Pinkie I went outside and walked around the town. I was greeted with a friendly hello by almost everypony I came across. It was weird to me that they were so nice. But then again I had just left a big city.
It was sunset by the time I got home that day. I was greeted by a small purple unicorn with a fumiualry basket of muffins. She told me her name was Dinky and that she was the daughter of my next door neighbor. Well adopted daughter. Before I got the chance to ask who my neighbor was, I found that Dinky was a rather curious pony. she talked till the time her mother came to get her and by then she had asked me about a million questions. Well if we want to be more accurate it was about one hundred and three questions. Anyway Derpy came over to get dinky. Derpy has a kind and sweet smile. The kind that is lost to most city ponies.
A few moments went by of silence before Derpy introduced herself and apologize for Dinky being so noisy. I told her not to worry about it. Then she left. I walked into my house. It was just big enough for one pony. Which at the time was fine by me. I unpacked the few things I owned. I never traveled with to much especially sense most of my inventions didn't work.
I had been in town for almost a month I hadn't really talked to anypony. Well except for Derpy and Dinky. Derpy and I had become not to good but still friends. Derpy would invite me over to her house after she was done with work for tea and muffins from time to time. She is a great baker by the way. Dinky was a polite young pony with lots and lots of energy. She was at school most days I came over but the days she wasn't I was prepared to answer as many questions as I thought a filly could ask. Even so sometimes she asked a question that caught me off guard. As Derpy and I became better friends somethings about my past would slip out from time to time. There comes a point in some friendships where the two ponies try to figure out weather they should be friends or something more. When it came to that point in Derpy and I's friendship I thought that I thought I should tell her about my curse. I told her that I was born with a rare birth defect and that my parents research a spell to try and save me, but they ended up cursing me with longevity. I didn't tell her how long that was but I guess she could figure it out when I was talking after Princess Luna returned. I thought it would ruin things between us but it only seemed to make things stronger. So I promised that as long as it wouldn't put her in danger I would be honest with her. Somethings I told her I thought she would run but she tried her best to understand. And everything was perfect and quite. I felt normal, no I felt happy. I forgot about my curse for years that well Derpy and I where dating and married before we knew it. I have had happiness before but not for as long as this lasted. Years of joy and love and happiness. We traveled and star gazed and went to visit Canterlot and Manehatten and Dinky did really well in school and I couldn't have been happier. But one Dinky started feel ill, I was waiting for the day some thing would change that happiness to grief and sorrow. Derpy knew that for some reason trouble always followed me. We just didn't expect for things to happen the way they did. Just when I thought Dinky was getting better she started getting really sick. A rare disease that only affected unicorns took Dinky. Derpy and i where devised. Dinky had become like a daughter to me. She fought so hard to live but a lass the disease took her. The house was quite and dark and sad. I know a house can't be sad but there was a sadness always lingering in the air. Derpy and I weren't the only ones affected. All of Ponyville grieved with us. Everypony knew who Dinky was. Dinky's marefriend went to the funeral and wasn't seen again till months later.
After Dinky was... laid to rest. I wrote a note to Derpy explaining my guilt and why I left. I felt so much guilt. I was the reason Dinky died. I knew I was cursed and I put Dinky and Derpy in danger. I didn't want to watch Derpy die as well. So I left. It was the most selfish thing anypony could ever do. And I regret my discussion to leave every single day. I should have been there for Derpy. But I can't change what happened without distorting the fabric of time it's self.
Anyway when I left I "grieved". The thing about having indefinite life is you grieve very differently from others. Instead of feeling something you become numb. Physically and emotionally you just feel nothing. Because when you've been around for as long as I have, You see so much death and destruction that you become rather use to it. It's a horrible thing to say but it's true. So I left for Manehatten where I could be numb and emotionless and no pony would think twice. My memories of my time their have blurred together. I vaguely remember trying to figure out how I could have saved Dinky without destroy time and space was we know it.
Anyway It took a lot longer than I thought to pull myself out of the numbness but when I did I realized how long it had been. Eight years. Eight years I had abandoned Derpy. Eight years and I only wrote Derpy once and I never sent it. When I realized what that meant, at first I had no plans to try to fix our probably destroyed relationship but when I started to spend nights awake worrying about her, I went back to Ponyville.
Ponyville what used to be a sleepy little town was now starting to look more like a small city. I walked around town looking for her. When I saw her again she was at Sugar Cube Corner with a child. He didn't get my attention at first because, What I was going to say to her kept playing over and over in my head. She saw me before I could say anything. She ran over to me. I was expecting to get hit in the face but she just said "hi". I was shocked I was expecting anger and frustration not relief. she said to me was "eight years must of felt like eight days to a pony who has been around as long as you have." I smiled and nodded. I couldn't really think of what to say, I just stood there and thanked Celestia that Derpy was as kind as she is. She seemed to be holding back, her expression was unreadable. That's when I noticed the foal. I started to notice somethings about him. He had a grey coat, a dark brown mane and blue eyes. It was as if he were my foal. I was picking apart the similarities so much that I at first I didn't hear Derpy confirm my suspensions. She told me his name is Time Turner. Which she knew was a name I went by for a while when princess Celestia had started to suspect there was a pony who wasn't aging in Canterlot. At first I panicked at the thought of having a foal. Especially after when happened to Dinky. Derpy had invited me to the house. She said she would explain everything when we got their. The walk to the house was quite. I looked around Ponyville and saw so much change. There where griffins and yaks and a whole new hippogriff species. Ponyville was so diverse that it had completely changed the face of the small town in only eight years. One of the few things that hadn't change was Derpy's home. Well technically our home but it was Derpy's before I moved in and well Derpy lived their while I was gone. Anyway... We walked into the house and Time Turner was sent to bed. Derpy put a pot of tea on the stove and i sat quietly at the kitchen table. There was silences then Derpy sat down at the table across from me. Her face was blurred with relief and anger and sadness? She stared at the wall just behind my head. I still remember the exact words she said to me. She told me "I don't know how I'm supposed to feel. You left me when times got tuff. But I understand. I was left alone with a foal but it was my fault I didn't tell you. I defended your actions. But I was still furious at you." Tears started to well up in her eyes. "In one week I lost my daughter, then my husband and then I found out I was having a foal." Tears where streaming down her face as she kept talking. "I love you but I'm furious at you! I want Time Turner to have his father but not like this! I lost so much and I don't know what to do. I'm relived to see you but I'm mad that you left!" Derpy was about to continue but the tea pot started boiling. She got up to get the tea and sat their thinking about everything she said. I stared down at the table thinking and coming up with anything to say. That's when i noticed something. I got up to take a better look. It was an old picture of me, Derpy and Dinky. It was from around the time we first met. I looked around a little more and noticed more and more things Derpy had kept. I asked her why she kept some of the things she did. She explained she knew that i would be back. When I asked her how she knew, she told me she didn't know. She just wanted to keep memories of happier times. We sat down at the table an odd mixture of joy and frustration hung in the air. We started talking. She still had mixed emotions but we chatted about Ponyville had changed and something just clicked. Sure things weren't exactly the same but there was much less tension in the air. Derpy had calmed down but she still had the mixed emotions in her face. We got onto the odd subject of immortality. For the first time all day there was a clear darkness in her face. She had explained to me that she was immortal as well. After she told me I promised for as long as time and emotions allowed I would never ever leave again.
I had family that would join me on the trip till the end of days. And we where happy. Time Turner was a rather shy and quiet pony. But unlike the former bearer of the element of kindness it wasn't what was essentially social anxiety. He spent most of his days reading and sometimes he wrote. He got a mark of immortality. A broken hour glass with bubbles spilling out. I had an hour glass and Derpy had bubbles. The bubbles represented that she was stuck in a time bubble. Timer Turner eventually grew to be a an excellent public speaker and is parent of a really happy and loving relationship. But I'll never know how that turns out. Because of course I can't have true happiness for more than a hoof full of years. It all started a few moons ago. Derpy noticed a grey strand in my mane. Thousands of years and now when I've found my happily ever after, I am betrayed by my own body. I'm aging like a normal pony would have if they had my body. It's so bittersweet. I have to leave Derpy and Time Turner but I finally get to get rid of my curse. Maybe when I die I'll see Dinky and my parents again and maybe I'll be able to met Derpy's mom. Derpy's father told me Derpy's mom was a kind pony willing to do anything for her child. Derpy had offered to find her mother's research to see if she could fix it so we could both live. I told her not to. Time Turner was furious when I said I didn't want to be fixed. All I could say was that he would understand when he gets much older. He didn't speak to me for days after that. But eventually he calmed down enough to try to understand I told him my true age. That's when he realized the true meaning of immortality. I had been born the day nightmare moon was banished to the moon. One thousand forty-five years ago. Time Turner was still very angry that I wouldn't let him try to get my immortality back but at least he tried to understand my disinterest. As the years went on I stared to understand why a pony would risk everything to try to live forever. Getting old is awful. My joints hurt most days and I can't do things I would normally do. It's frustrating but it's less annoying then knowing that my life may never end. Derpy and Time Turner have started to wonder if there time will run out. I hope for there sake it'll run out when they are ready. As I write this Time Turner is still trying figure out if there's something he can do and Derpy is pacing wondering what's going to happen next. I'm in my final days. I just hope my family remembers that I love them. I hope their lives are full of love, and happiness. I'm going to miss them but with any luck I'll see them again.
