Chapter 2: Coincidence.......

Date:?

Time:Afternoon.

Location:Streets of Ponyville.

Clip clop clip clop clip clop went the sound of my hurried trotting, looking for some where to hid from the downpour to come; a fine mist had started when I'd just been on the edge of town, and getting heavier each second.

Drat, I need to find a pavilion, or a store, or.. a porch? That last bit was from sighting Rarities shop/home, it had a good over hang, and I don't think she'll mind (I saw a few banch's). So ya, and no sooner did I step on it, that it began pouring; hard. So there I be, contenplating what my next move would be, obviously not going anywhere till it subsided. After taking a seat on a banch before one of the show widows, which had a nice yellow dress on disply (He, that was a funny episode.), I got to work on what to do next (after dislogen my mind of funny pones, That is.).

Right, I have fifty bits, I don't think I'll be in a hotel with that. A tent? sure, I can swing that. Now what of food? I'll need to find a job, tho it will take me some time; what about gress?.. And so on and so forth, I was wondering if Apple Jack my have a job open (tho highly unlikely, it was winter after all.), when I noticed somepony else was on the porch.

"Hello there, young sir, are you doing alright?" Said Rarity, she'ed just walked out the front door, she must have noticed me by the window.

"I'm doing fine, ma'am, how are you? This should be interesting.

"I fine, think you; and what, my I ask, is your name?"

"Well Borne, and your's, ma'am?

"Why, it's Rarity Balla."

"It's good to meet you, Lady Balla, my I ask why you came out here?" She gained a light blush with her smile at that, and responded as so.

"Well, Sir Borne," She gigled at that. "I saw you thru my window, and was wondering if you where new in town?

Right on the dot, I see. "I am, in fact, and was wondering what I'll do next; after this storm stops, of course."

A look of understanding came over her face, and, was that a bit of regrat? "Ah, well you won't be going any where in this weather, I'm afraid. It's sceduled to last for the next three days.

Blasted, at the look on my face, she said. "would you like to come in? they say they'll lighting it up at noon tomorrow till two, mind staying till then."

I accepted her offer, and followed her in, but not before cleaning my hooves on the door mat. Of coarse we entered the show room frist, I won't go into detail on that, as who's ever seen it (like I have or other wise) knows it. Passing that, we entered a hallway that seemed to be in the middle of the house; with a stair case to the left on entering it, with a window and small table on the right end. Going to the right, and entering the last of three doors on the home side to the bottom half of the house by the table, we entered (what I think is) the living room. She said to have a seat, as she walked thru a two way door on entering that led to the kitchen, I took to one of the two wing backs (but not before taking my coat off and hanging it from said chair.).

In detailing of the room I now was in, the wall's where a burgundy with purple overtone; with cherry wood echted in a flower pattren, for the molding. The outer curved wall had four large bay windows, with lincoln green and gold embroidered draps; the wall with the door to the kitchen had a small fire place with red brick molding, with a family porteit over it. There was a long dark tan sofa that curved under the windows, with the wing backs (same color) on ether end of a coffe table, which was a nice oak on top a decorective rug; and the room had wooden flooring. There where metel plant stands, with potted ivy, where the sraight and curved walls met. In all words for it, it had a warm feeling to it, like the type you'd want to snuggle in.

Anyways, it wasn't long before she returned, carrying a plat of pin wheels with her. After she set them on the coffe table, she sat/leaned back into the couch, and plucked up one of the treats to eat with her magic.

"So, darling, what brings you to Ponyville?" She asked before takeing a bit, I reached out and took one before anwsering.

"Well, I'v found my self in need of a new pleace to live, along with a job to get said pleace; and this town was nearest."

"Oh? so you had to leave your home? what forced you to do so?"

Crums! I thought, thats something I didn't have -nor wished to give- the answer to yet. How am I to tell her I just popped into existence, with out sounding like a nut? Or, haveing to explane 'where' I came from and what I was if she believes me?

Luckly, my trublesome experason and silence, must of clicked something in her head.

"Ah, I'm sorry, I did not mean to pry..." She said with a worried look, as tho she offended me.

"Thats alright," I replied. "it's just hard for me to talk of, at the moment." And silence befell us, it looked like she was contenplating something; while I begen thinking of what my answers would be, if such was asked again. I was interupted by her clearing her throat, which got her my atention before she asked something else.

"So, ack-um... So who did you get that vest from? it looks like it was made with inexperienced hooves."

Now that brought a smile to my mussle. "Well I did, and it was, or rather is, my practice model. You see, I'm into leather working, and I made this as a way to hone my skill. Learning by doing, as it were." Yes, something to talk of!

She blinked at surprise at that, and adopted an intrigued look. "You made that?"

"Yes, not to mantion my book bag, which, I actully made before this vest."

"Imperasive" She gave a nod of her head. "Tho, the vest looks to need more work."

I gave a huff at how right she was. "Indeed, and I shoulden't of made some of the pokets as I did."

She toke on another contenplative look, and I eat a few of the warps as the silence continued, it was five minutes I think till she ask me the following.

"So, do you think you could do some leather work for me?"

What this? "That depends, on the why and the what it is, could you elaborate?"

"Well you see, I was commissioned by this lady griffin to make her some boots, and part of the deal was that she'ed send me the materials to be used for them. Well you see, I didn't know at the time what said materials were to be used; and well... I don't like crafting things out of the skin of a once liveing being."

I rased a brow at that, She took on a project, without knowing all the details? Well, thats naivaty for you. "So, you haven't tried talking to her about it?"

She gave a shea at that. "I would have tryed that, but, she didn't give me an adderasse to send mail to her by. And she just said that, she'ed come by to see how I'm doing on them, and pay me if there ready."

I was inceradless as I ask, both in face and tone. "So you coulden't find some one else that my know?"

She gave a huff of ferustrastion there. "Indeed, and apperently, she's done the same to many others -like myself- that I know of."

Huh..? "Hold on now, ya mean other ponies that make clothes, are getting a similar task?"

At a nod and an "Indeed" she continued with. "And I don't even know "how" to craft leather in the frist place."

This is odd, like a-light blub moment- "This sounds an afully lot like a tast of some sort, like, she's trying to find the best of the best for a job or something like that"

"That's what many of us are thinking, to, but we don't know for what. And, many of us aren't even trying to make what she asked for, just like me."

I think I see now... "So that's why you just asked me to do it for you?"

"Yes, seeing as you have some experence, and no reluctants, I would greatly apercette it."

I started thinking it over, as I eat my fith and went for my sixth pinwheel, before asking- "So, when will she be by to check on them?"

"I don't know, mayby a week? she naver said when." Said Rarity with a worrid experesion.

I thought for another moment, before asking- "How much would you pay me, if I did what you are asking?" I know, I'm a terrible person, but I'm low on bits.

She was quick to anwser with- "500 bit's" What the?!...

"You'd give me that much? just to get it over with?.."

"Yes, I can pay you that and more, and I can do so as soon as you'v finessed the last stich, to."

She can...? With a very bewelderd expression, I starad at her, did she really mean- "How can you do that?" I mean, how much was a bit worth to a doller? it should be about even. And a simple pair of boots -at least the good kind, not the overly fencie- are about -and under- 200 bucks.

"Well as a Dame, for wielding an elament of harmony, and comeing to the ad of Equestira many times over; I'm on the royal stimpid, so I always have more then I need." She said with a smile.

Now "that" made senses, I just need to know one last thing- "Do you have all the tools I'd need?"

"Yes, that griffin actully sent those to."

"I'm in, then, as long as you have a pattern I can use."

And so begain, my frist part time job.

Along with a headack from a very bugging question. How the hack did this all happen?!...

Author's Note

My inner architect came out in this one, the flatry was just how it went, and I kinda rushed it at the end. This was soppose to be longer, but oh well. As aways, give all the constructive criticism ya can give me.
