//-------------------------------------------------------// My life, in the realm of ponies........ -by Sir Well Borne- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: My arrival..... >>Edited<< //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: My arrival..... >>Edited<< Date:? Time:? Location:? I... have a migraine. I have a migraine, and feel like lead...... Those were the first thoughts I had when I awoke - those that I could recall, anyway - with more (and more painful) ones to come over the next half-hour. I, at that moment, had no clue as to why I felt so. As my other sense's came to me, more questions began flooding my mind, the biggest being of where I was. And so I laid there, wherever I was, while I straightened my mind out. Alright, I thought a while after the migraine had subsided. I'm laying in some grass somewhere. This I could tell by my hearing and sight, the latter of which I had just been able to keep open, the stinging pain I had from them finally residing. And I am clothed, but in what? At this last thought, I moved myself to see, but got more then the answer I seek't. Well to answer what I wore first; I had a tan flat top cap on my head, then there was a long sleeved navy blue dress shirt, that of which I had a leather vest that I made over it(with it's many pockets all filled with something), and to cover it all, was an olive drab surplus ww2 trench coat, and around my neck I had a leather book bag(also something I made). But of course that wasn't as mind boggling, as the gray hoof I now had in my face, or the forest green with light gray spotted fur to the now >foreleg< it was connected to. "All right, I now have hooves, what else is new." So I stared at my now right hoof at first for awhile, then moved over to my left; and as I was on my back, I looked down to my rear legs that where slightly spread. "Oh, so that's why there's a draft down there." I said this as I spy'ed my necked lower half, which I must mention, there is no magic keeping things covered down there. I'll, just have to play calm and carry on; I'll have ta work on being calm, tho. I had to shake my head at that. Right, I need to get righted, then see about walking. And so I began the task of getting to my belly first, which was simply bringing my right legs in, then swinging my left and using the momentum from that to be as I needed to . Then to stand, with my legs now under me and positioned, I (gently) put force in to them till I was at my full height. The balance was a bit tricky, what with now 4 legs, but "much" easier to get a hold of while standing then most would think. Now you may be wondering why I'm acting the way I am, and not freaking out like a chicken with it's head cut off, well here's my answer. It's cliche, I'v read enough fanfic's about this happening before, so I mostly know what was going to happen next. Second, I think I know (or at lest half of) what I was, which is an earth pony, which I believe I was also a sub race off of that that I called a Grimm, but I didn't know for sure on the latter bit. And third, what use would it be to me, when calmness and logic would be of best use at the moment? So I did what I did. Well anyways, now that I was standing at my full height, I took the time to observe my surroundings. I was in some tall brown grass that came up to just before my lower shoulder, behind and to my right was a forest (that with there being no leaves, told me it must be fall or early winter) I had no name for as of yet, and in front of me was a path that lead to who know were; and a large mountain ranged beyond that. Further observance around me and lifting the left side of my coat up with a hoof revealed, I had a neon green on beige cutey mark of the Trinity symbol (as I know I would), and a dark brown with burgundy over toned mane an tail. And besides that, I could see on a "vary tall" mountain to the right of me, with something on it that gave me a "vary" good clue as to "where" I now was. "Well, that's Canterlot, so it look's like I have much before me." I said as a frown came to my breaded mussel, not that I was upset over ending up in Equestria; just that.... well... my family... What ever did this to me better take care of them, that's all I had to say. Shaking my head to dismiss said thoughts, I brought my self back to the here and now, knowing that my own survival at that time was a better thing to think about. After a moment, I decided there was only one thing I could do at this time, and that is to walk. And so with that I took my first step (which was easy with 4 legs for balance) , then my next and so forth as I moved (slowly at first) to stand on the path I was near, and I turned to my left as I kept walking; that soon became a steady trot. And I was on my way towards Sunbutt's castle. What ever town this leads me to, I do hope I'll be able to get lodging and or food, heck do I even have any bits on me? That last thought made me stop, I hadn't looked in my vest pockets yet, so I took a moment just to see how much money I may of had on me; if any. Well, it didn't take much to find a coin purse, it was black with a metal clam shell opening. And so I opened it, doing my best not to lose what ever is in it, I use my right hoof to pour some out in to my left hoof and count; I'v got fifty bits. Now hold on.... I think to myself, looking at the coin purse then the coin's in my hooves. How am I holding this stuff? Now that was a good question, many had asked and many had there own idea's in the fandom, but what about in this world? So I examined them after putting the bit's away, the inside of my leg from the hoof to the top of the fetlock was clear of fur, and had ridge's like a finger; and the fetlock it self was just as flexible as an index finger. Well I saw that it could easily hold and move large objects, how was I able to hold my coin pouch? So, I went and tried to pick up a pebble, and I did. Gecko grip!! Now that would explain it, or at lest to me. And so, with that answer found and the pebble touched away, I restarted my journey. I believe it was 30 minutes latter, as I had checked my pocket watch, that I heard then saw a train; the Pony Express in all it's wonder'es colors. I couldn't help but grin as I watch'd it puff on and away behind me, as it came from the way I'm heading, hopefully from a town not far from where I was now. And so, I trotted on, and on; till I came to the top of a hill over looking a valley. "Well, there she be, Ponyville." I't looked a lot like that in the show, besides of coarse aaah? Well, nothing, it looked completely the same to me as it did in the show. Tho things looked a lot more real from the show, like something you'd see done by one Baron Engel on DA (http://baron-engel.deviantart.com/art/Ponyville-Library-study-346527797), which made a lot of sense when ya thought about it (that is if you think of Equess as a real place, don't care if ya don't). I stood there for some time, thinking about if this was real or not, it could still be a dream that I'm having; more realistic then my last one fer sure. It was around this time, that I was suddenly struck by a gust of fresh chilly wind, that caused me to look up at the slightly cloudy sky. A slightly cloudy sky that was rapidly being filled with dark storm clouds that were being herded by Pegasus ponies, and would be getting me all wet here shortly if I didn't get to town in time. "Oh sissally, I'd better get going!" And so I did, speeding up to a light gallop as I headed down the hill for my destination, hoping to find some shelter when I got there. But first, I thought as I turned off the path and to some dense bushes near the forest.I need to relieve myself. So I answered natures call, and would soon be on my way again, with so many question's on my mind to answer; and with these five at the top. Where shall I go? What shall I do? When shall I do this and/or that? Who shall I meet? And why doe's this all happen to me? And my finale thought to all that. I shall let the force, and what friends I my make, show me the way. Author's Note I hope that you all like what ya read, please, give all the constructive criticism ya can give me.:raritywink: https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/raritywink.png S.W.B. P.S. "This chapter has been edited." //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Coincidence....... //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Coincidence....... Date:? Time:Afternoon. Location:Streets of Ponyville. Clip clop clip clop clip clop went the sound of my hurried trotting, looking for some where to hid from the downpour to come; a fine mist had started when I'd just been on the edge of town, and getting heavier each second. Drat, I need to find a pavilion, or a store, or.. a porch? That last bit was from sighting Rarities shop/home, it had a good over hang, and I don't think she'll mind (I saw a few banch's). So ya, and no sooner did I step on it, that it began pouring; hard. So there I be, contenplating what my next move would be, obviously not going anywhere till it subsided. After taking a seat on a banch before one of the show widows, which had a nice yellow dress on disply (He, that was a funny episode.), I got to work on what to do next (after dislogen my mind of funny pones, That is.). Right, I have fifty bits, I don't think I'll be in a hotel with that. A tent? sure, I can swing that. Now what of food? I'll need to find a job, tho it will take me some time; what about gress?.. And so on and so forth, I was wondering if Apple Jack my have a job open (tho highly unlikely, it was winter after all.), when I noticed somepony else was on the porch. "Hello there, young sir, are you doing alright?" Said Rarity, she'ed just walked out the front door, she must have noticed me by the window. "I'm doing fine, ma'am, how are you? This should be interesting. "I fine, think you; and what, my I ask, is your name?" "Well Borne, and your's, ma'am? "Why, it's Rarity Balla." "It's good to meet you, Lady Balla, my I ask why you came out here?" She gained a light blush with her smile at that, and responded as so. "Well, Sir Borne," She gigled at that. "I saw you thru my window, and was wondering if you where new in town? Right on the dot, I see. "I am, in fact, and was wondering what I'll do next; after this storm stops, of course." A look of understanding came over her face, and, was that a bit of regrat? "Ah, well you won't be going any where in this weather, I'm afraid. It's sceduled to last for the next three days. Blasted, at the look on my face, she said. "would you like to come in? they say they'll lighting it up at noon tomorrow till two, mind staying till then." I accepted her offer, and followed her in, but not before cleaning my hooves on the door mat. Of coarse we entered the show room frist, I won't go into detail on that, as who's ever seen it (like I have or other wise) knows it. Passing that, we entered a hallway that seemed to be in the middle of the house; with a stair case to the left on entering it, with a window and small table on the right end. Going to the right, and entering the last of three doors on the home side to the bottom half of the house by the table, we entered (what I think is) the living room. She said to have a seat, as she walked thru a two way door on entering that led to the kitchen, I took to one of the two wing backs (but not before taking my coat off and hanging it from said chair.). In detailing of the room I now was in, the wall's where a burgundy with purple overtone; with cherry wood echted in a flower pattren, for the molding. The outer curved wall had four large bay windows, with lincoln green and gold embroidered draps; the wall with the door to the kitchen had a small fire place with red brick molding, with a family porteit over it. There was a long dark tan sofa that curved under the windows, with the wing backs (same color) on ether end of a coffe table, which was a nice oak on top a decorective rug; and the room had wooden flooring. There where metel plant stands, with potted ivy, where the sraight and curved walls met. In all words for it, it had a warm feeling to it, like the type you'd want to snuggle in. Anyways, it wasn't long before she returned, carrying a plat of pin wheels (http://allrecipes.com/recipe/14961/party-pinwheels/) with her. After she set them on the coffe table, she sat/leaned back into the couch, and plucked up one of the treats to eat with her magic. "So, darling, what brings you to Ponyville?" She asked before takeing a bit, I reached out and took one before anwsering. "Well, I'v found my self in need of a new pleace to live, along with a job to get said pleace; and this town was nearest." "Oh? so you had to leave your home? what forced you to do so?" Crums! I thought, thats something I didn't have -nor wished to give- the answer to yet. How am I to tell her I just popped into existence, with out sounding like a nut? Or, haveing to explane 'where' I came from and what I was if she believes me? Luckly, my trublesome experason and silence, must of clicked something in her head. "Ah, I'm sorry, I did not mean to pry..." She said with a worried look, as tho she offended me. "Thats alright," I replied. "it's just hard for me to talk of, at the moment." And silence befell us, it looked like she was contenplating something; while I begen thinking of what my answers would be, if such was asked again. I was interupted by her clearing her throat, which got her my atention before she asked something else. "So, ack-um... So who did you get that vest from? it looks like it was made with inexperienced hooves." Now that brought a smile to my mussle. "Well I did, and it was, or rather is, my practice model. You see, I'm into leather working, and I made this as a way to hone my skill. Learning by doing, as it were." Yes, something to talk of! She blinked at surprise at that, and adopted an intrigued look. "You made that?" "Yes, not to mantion my book bag, which, I actully made before this vest." "Imperasive" She gave a nod of her head. "Tho, the vest looks to need more work." I gave a huff at how right she was. "Indeed, and I shoulden't of made some of the pokets as I did." She toke on another contenplative look, and I eat a few of the warps as the silence continued, it was five minutes I think till she ask me the following. "So, do you think you could do some leather work for me?" What this? "That depends, on the why and the what it is, could you elaborate?" "Well you see, I was commissioned by this lady griffin to make her some boots, and part of the deal was that she'ed send me the materials to be used for them. Well you see, I didn't know at the time what said materials were to be used; and well... I don't like crafting things out of the skin of a once liveing being." I rased a brow at that, She took on a project, without knowing all the details? Well, thats naivaty for you. "So, you haven't tried talking to her about it?" She gave a shea at that. "I would have tryed that, but, she didn't give me an adderasse to send mail to her by. And she just said that, she'ed come by to see how I'm doing on them, and pay me if there ready." I was inceradless as I ask, both in face and tone. "So you coulden't find some one else that my know?" She gave a huff of ferustrastion there. "Indeed, and apperently, she's done the same to many others -like myself- that I know of." Huh..? "Hold on now, ya mean other ponies that make clothes, are getting a similar task?" At a nod and an "Indeed" she continued with. "And I don't even know "how" to craft leather in the frist place." This is odd, like a-light blub moment- "This sounds an afully lot like a tast of some sort, like, she's trying to find the best of the best for a job or something like that" "That's what many of us are thinking, to, but we don't know for what. And, many of us aren't even trying to make what she asked for, just like me." I think I see now... "So that's why you just asked me to do it for you?" "Yes, seeing as you have some experence, and no reluctants, I would greatly apercette it." I started thinking it over, as I eat my fith and went for my sixth pinwheel, before asking- "So, when will she be by to check on them?" "I don't know, mayby a week? she naver said when." Said Rarity with a worrid experesion. I thought for another moment, before asking- "How much would you pay me, if I did what you are asking?" I know, I'm a terrible person, but I'm low on bits. She was quick to anwser with- "500 bit's" What the?!... "You'd give me that much? just to get it over with?.." "Yes, I can pay you that and more, and I can do so as soon as you'v finessed the last stich, to." She can...? With a very bewelderd expression, I starad at her, did she really mean- "How can you do that?" I mean, how much was a bit worth to a doller? it should be about even. And a simple pair of boots -at least the good kind, not the overly fencie- are about -and under- 200 bucks. "Well as a Dame, for wielding an elament of harmony, and comeing to the ad of Equestira many times over; I'm on the royal stimpid, so I always have more then I need." She said with a smile. Now "that" made senses, I just need to know one last thing- "Do you have all the tools I'd need?" "Yes, that griffin actully sent those to." "I'm in, then, as long as you have a pattern I can use." And so begain, my frist part time job. Along with a headack from a very bugging question. How the hack did this all happen?!... Author's Note My inner architect came out in this one, the flatry was just how it went, and I kinda rushed it at the end. This was soppose to be longer, but oh well. As aways, give all the constructive criticism ya can give me. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: Of griffins and poems... //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: Of griffins and poems... Date; Second day on Eques. Time; 11:30AM Location; Rarity's boutique. A recap from yesterday: After Finishing off the food, we went across the hall to her workroom, which took a third of the business side to her house. The room was painted cerulean blue with a hard wood white painted floor, with a rack of blots and a wall of thread spools before a door along the outer wall; along the inner wall was a large table to draw out and cut patterns, along with a peddle powered sewing machine, and a round podium in the center of it all. She went to the door which lead down to her basement/storage for the leather, giving it to me, I got to work. As I began by sketching out the pattern to the leather, we started some simple chit chat on current happening's in town, its amazing what one may learn threw idle talk. What I learned in order from the first: There was a motel (a small hotel) in town on "North Lunar Road" on the east side, which was called "Hornton's Stables", Rarity said it was the better one of three in town; with good pricing and clean rooms. To go to town hall when I was ready to buy a house, with warning of Pinkies party's, the last part unneed but meh. That noponies where hiring till spring for part time farm jobs, so I may just have to camp out till then, which I was fine with; and I did not let Rarity know that last bit. That she had a sister(like I didn't know but didn't say.), and that Sweety was on a sleep over with the other CMC. And the finale thing I learned, which I become most fascinated in and asked for all the details I could; Chrysalis had attacked equestria again, foalnapping all of the most important ponies(yes, she got them all.), and it was a reformed changeling named Thorax (with Starlight Discord and Trixey) who saved the day. When night had falling, I kept working till the clock in the work room struck 11:00PM, the sole's to the boots where done(made of two rawhide pieces each) and the uppers where half done(made of burgundy tanned and teal inlaid leather); hoof sewing is hard and long work. Rarity lead me on up to the spare room she had, going up the stairs that split at the landing, we went half way on the "infinite" hallway to reach it(the thing went along the outer wall with a panoramic view, with the rooms to the center of the house.). The room itself was small, with a simple wood floor and peach painted walls, the cover on the bed was brown; and the head board dark green. The small dresser bed stand and coat rack, along with the rug next to the left side of the bed, where also dark green. Now for what I found on me: The vest had the aforementioned bits and pocket watch; it also held an 8 ounce flask and magnesium fire starter, a brass compass an chain and my 4 inch master barlow, along with a steampunk-ed pack of cards and 9 inch collapsible spy glass. My trench coat had a pair of black leather gloves, and brown knitted gloves(for hooves of coarse), it also had my old engineers hat I'v had from when I was five. Now that was one pocket, the other had my electrical tape wrapped camo flashlight, and my horse brush. And finally my black leather book bag that had three books in it: A black paper back journal, which I wrote mine and others quotes on philosophy in, along with a few songs an poems. A travel journal of sorts, which was a brown leather binder, with blank tanish paper(was also empty). Then finally a gray fabric/paper back book with faded gold lettering, called "The Book of Runes" by Ralph H. Blum, which I'd saved from a black moldy death. Now surprisingly, and unsurprising to; the picture of Odin hanging by his feet from the world tree, was replaced with a (I believe his counterparts) earth pony form. Now, I may have thought to hit the sack early, but that's just because the boredom of sewing zapped my energy, but I'm a night owl by habit. I should study up on these runes, such magic is more prevalent here, and there'ed be a reason it came with me. So with that thought, I got comfy and began reading, I fall asleep in chapter three. I awoke the next day by someone prodding my shoulder, I mumbled in distaste at that, thinking it was my mom or sister with the broom. I was about to voice my compliant, when the one doing the prodding spoke up. "Well's darling, you need to get up, it's nearly 10:30." I was in a stupor for lase then a second, before I remembered where I was, and whom was talking. "Fine," I mumbled "I'll be down shortly...." "Good, I'll go warm your breakfast up-." "No need," Sitting up, still in my shirt, with her to my right side and left of the bed. "I'll do that my~yawn~self." I gave my host a drowse look before sliding off the bed; I moved to the dresser to pier at the mirror, piking up my brush I'd left atop it, I began working my mane to my usual combed back styli. After a moment she said. "So, your studying magic, what type, my I ask?" "Runic, and why'd ya ask." I answered, giving her a glance, she was floating the book before her. "Well I'v never seen an earth pony study, let alone practices, any form of magic. beyond of coarse, the farming they do." "Well not all earth ponies are the same, just like no two unicorns or Pegasus are." "Oh... sorry, I didn't mean to be rude." I looked to her at that, a bit confused, before seeing how I'd replied. "Ah! no need to be, I'm always blunt when I wake up." I said as I cracked my now longer neck, heh, I could do a 180 twist now. She seemed to smile at that, before setting the book on the night stand, and walking to the door. "Well I'll let you be to ready yourself, I'll be waiting in the kitchen for you." "And I'll be there soon." I answered, deciding to take off my shirt and brush my coat out after she left, which felt oddly good to do. Finishing my tail off last, I put my shirt and hat back on (the former with some difficulty), and headed on out and down to the guest bathroom. This room was the first to the right on descending the stairs before the kitchen, and pretty much looked like a human bathroom, besides of coarse the low an troth like toilet. I took care of my business quickly, skipping the sower, I walked on over and opened the door to the kitchen... ... ... ... To see a griffin drinking tea with Rarity. I was a bit surprised at that, then a plessent smile covered my face as they looked to, Rarity beaming on my arrival. "Ah Well's, I was just telling her about you." "A pleasure to meet you, Mr. Borne." Said the griffin-ess, extending her talons to shack my hoof, I walked in a few pace's and took it. Shacking it gently, I replied. "A pleasure to meet you as well, miss..?" "Baroness Greta, Greta Gelding," Yes, I heard that last name right. "so your the pony making my boots?" Nodding my head and tilting it in respect, I took note of how she looked before answering. She had brown fur, with darker brown wings and tail fluff, she had a very light teal pattern over wight plumage; and she wore a gray teal scarf held in place by a gold talon pin. “Yes, yes I am, would you like to see how there coming along?” I asked, a bit nerviness growing in me. “No need, Miss Rarity showed them to me already, she was just explaining how you to work for her to make them.” “Ah,” I answered, a bit disappointed in not being the one to show her. “then, may I ask ‘why’ you just drop’d the project on her, with out asking if she’ed be ok working with leather?” A fare question. She took a moment to put her thoughts together before she entered. “Well, I made a bet with one Marchioness Gigi, the bet was that with each pony I found that was wiling or ok with crafting leather, I’d win 5000 bit’s.” “That’s a lot of money..” I mentioned. “That it is, but it came with the rule that I could not ask the pony directly, I had to give out commissions like I did to Rarity. I got a thoughtful and understanding look on my face at that. “Now that.. makes sense.” I said, nodding my head. “your welcome.” she replied. We were just standing there for a while after that, an awkward feeling filling the air, I was thinking of what to say before she talked first. “So... when should the boots be ready?” “Tomorrow... tomorrow evening at the late’es” She nodded at this. “Then I’ll get out of your manes till then, Dame Bella, Mr. Borne...” And with some small goodbyes, she was gone... ... ...? “That wan’t rather quick, didn’t it? I mean, how long was she here before I came down?” I asked Rarity, who nodded at that. “<-What’s this word?-> right darling, she arrived the moment after I step’ed off the stairs wearing a poncho, and hurriedly asked me about the boots and had me show her. If I had to judge, I’d say she was dispirit...” She frowned a bit at that. I nodded in understanding to that, looking to the where the front door is, which Greta had left by. “Well, whatever the case, will see her tomorrow.” Turning back to my host, I finely asked. “So.. wheres the food?” After reheating the scrambled egg’s an hash browns, that had a mix of green an red pepper an onion, I was back on the boots round 11:13. It was 12:30 when I heard the front door open, and the resounding call after it. “Rarity! I’m home!”c ”That’s the little marshmallow if I’v ever heard one, I grinned at my inner serchashim. “she’s the cutest of the three, I wonder when her first concert will be..” My random thought’s were interrupted before they could go further. “Umm, who are you...?” came the question from the door leading to the show room. I stopped an looked up from my work on the table, to the teenage filly before me, she was half way thru the door with a cautions look on her face. “I’m Well’s, your sister is giving me lodging from the rain..” “Oh? um, my names Sweet’y Bella.. could you tell me where my sister is?” “A pleasure to meet you, young Bella; and yes, I believe she’s in the living room.” “Thank you..” She replied hastly, before trotting thru the workroom to the other door (keeping her distance from me), and closing it behind her. I didn’t notice at first, but a moment later, there was a “definitely pleasant” musk in the air. ”What the..?!” I thought, surprised; A want to investigate and understand came over me, sending me to my hooves, I moved as quietly as I could on the wood floor(wearing boots most the time made me a master at that before gaining hooves), till I was on the carpet of the hall way. It wasn’t because my head was clouded by arousal from the musk of a mare in heat that moved me(How I knew that did not matter), but rather by an intuitive urge to know more, that would sprout at random sometimes back home; being in a new world just impounded it in me harder to act on it. ”Never know what you’ll learn...” Leaning my head down to the bottom of the living room door, I listened intently, my breaths shallow... ”...So, you’v made a herd with Apple Bloom and Scootaloo, and Rumbles now your stallion?” I heard Rarity speak, she didn’t sound happy or upset. “Yes, and I don’t care if you, mom or dad disapprove, I’m not leaving my herd mates!” Spoke Sweet’y bell defiantly. “It’s not that, dear, it’s because this is your first heat, and your only 16. I’m worried about if you can handle being with foal...” I brought my head back up after that, and walked in to the kitchen next door, grabbing myself a glass of water as I digested what I just heard. ”I wondered when I would learn of those things, but I still don’t know enough; meh, shouldn't be much longer till I do.” And with that thought gone, I took a little break, and I snatch an apple from the fruit bowl. I wondered into my room that night, the boots were finished, I’d ask Greta about payment tomorrow. While I was working, I decided that I’d write a diary of my time here, or at lest of the bigger things that happened; deciding to write down my arrival on Equss first. So I sat down at the bed stand, with the empty journal, and took my pen in hoof: wondering what I should writ. I didn't want it to be straight, that is understandable to everypony, for I didn't wish other's to find out right off the bat that i’m a human in pony skin; just in case something bad would happen from it. ”poems,” I thought, and a smile touched my lips. ”the rhyming type, only I will understand them in full cause I’m the writer!” With my thoughts in place, and conjuring the rhyming words, I began to write... I am beveled, by the force'es that have deviled, that have caused me to be traveled. But besides that I shall settle, and hope I never need do battle, so that I my sit back and drink my tea of nettle. May the force be with my family. S. Well Borne. Day: 4 Location: The porch of Carousel Boutique Time: 10:20 "Thank you for letting me stay till the rains stop'd, Miss Rarity" I said as we step'd out into the crisp morning. "Your welcome, darling; tho, I wish you'd earned more from making those boots." Ah yes, the boots. Having finished them at dusk two days ago, after I met Greta, I was asleep when she came by yesterday morn. With Rarity being the only one up then, Greta paid 200 bit's for the boots and left; Rarity later told me that was a rather cheap price. Still "At lest she left the tools, scraps, and two hides behind in her rush; that should provide me something someday." Said items where now in a pair of decent sized thick silver gray canvas saddle bags with brash buckles, thanks to the mare herself. "And I'm glad you will find a use for them, Luna knows I couldn't; tho, I wish you'd take the 500 bits for doing it for me-." "And again, 200 plus the 50 I have will do for me, I'm not about to buy a house or waste it on useless nick nacks. And really, were pretty much even." She sighed, but agreed nonetheless. "Alright, if that's what you wish." I nodded to this, with a smile that she returned, and began the farewell's. "Well, it's been good knowing you, Rarity." "You as well, Well's, and don't be a stranger next time your around." "And until then, may the force be with you, my lady." And with a tilt/nod of my head, I was off to find that motel she told me about. 100 bit's to book a room, then 5 extra bit's each day stayed. Of coarse I didn't book it. No, instead I kept to my original plan, and bought a one pony tent and bed roll for fifty bits at Mr Rich's Barnyard bargains (not cheap but doable), and set off to find a place outside town to make camp. On the way, I enjoyed the scenery, and began thinking of my next move. What to do, what to do... I have shelter from most things now, and money to buy food(not for to long, tho; I know what I said to Rarity, but that's because we were even.), and I have a somewhat sell able craft on hoof. What to do... My thoughts all lead to the same thing, get a job, ether long term or an odd job. The only thing now, was to figure out how? While I have gone job looking back home, I did not see internet at Rarity's, only a telephone like you'd see in old westerns. So that left me street add's, and bulletin boards, nether of which I'd seen as of ye- Ah, there's one by town hall. And so there was, a bulletin board like you'd see in parks, which I quickly trotted up to to see the dozen or so adds on things that may (or may not) help me. Hmm, 'Life Jackets for sell', 'Pet Sitter for Cat', 'Dogs For Sell'- And on an on it went, there was someone selling a hot tub, to. Mmm, 'Old Bowie Knife and hatchet with harness an sheath's, for 30 Bits', ah, now that's a deal!.. I took that one down and pocketed it, a good tool an weapon are always nice to have. I'll go find this Dust Tales when I'm done here. Hmm, what else is there... I found something of interest soon after, a job request for workers; a fix it an clean up crew they called it, it was a town wide clean up for the three day storm. "Right, that's what I'll be doing, just have to make camp first then go get signed up." So off I went, knowing exactly what to do. Day 6 Well yesterday was fun. After waking up in a "very" cold tent (due to wet fire kindling), I made my way to check myself in for the town clean up crew; after receiving a bright green vest with a paper name tag (paid workers got a vest, volunteers got non.), I was giving the job of hauling debris to a specified dump site. I did the job with flying color's. Sure it was difficult at first, getting used to pulling a wagon full of branches, leafs and other things. And it was trying, making my legs wobbly towards the end of the day. But it was all worth it, and a bit educational when we all went on break for lunch. You see, I met a very curios Rose Luck, who was wondering who I was, and stated that it wasn't often that they had a lunar earthpony in town. Being told I was what they know as a lunar pony help'd somewhat, considering I had a dogs tail, teeth and rear dew claws. Guess I won't be calling myself a Grimm, or maybe I'll be called a dogpone? Maybe Grimm is a nickname like threstle possible is for lunar pagesus's? Meh, I'll learn when I hear it said or read it. Anyways, before lunchtime broke, Rose ask'd me if I would care to join her at her place for dinner, I accepted. So when the day was done, and after I was paid (which was 15 bits an hour for hualing so I earn'd 90 bits for six.), I met her at the giving address. Dinner was nice, consisting of potato soup and sour dough bread with hard cider to drink, it was very filling. After we finished eating, we went to the family room and talked about some stuff, taking our cider with us. Can't remember the details to well, after my forth cider (still a light wight). But I do remember as she said something, me agreeing, then her leading me to her bedroom. I was sober enough to remember every detail from what happened next, and boy howdy, she was nice, and I found I was twice of what I was before. Ack-am, anyways, after having a small talk with her on what happened in the morning, along with acknowledging that she wasn't in heat, we decided all was fine and that we'ed go our own ways. Tho before I left, she made a very good point in saying to drop by next time I was in Ponyville, tho I don't know when if ever I'll be back. Hm? why was I leaving PonyVille? well that had a simple answer. Ya see this town saw a lot of action, and was home to our favorite heroins, and those are the reasons why I was leaving. There where to many stories based off a main character that lived in this town that also fall in love with the, or one of the main six, making it an almost cliche thing to happen. So since I didn't wan't that to happen, or to somehow get tag'ed along to the show (that is to somehow mess with it's fate), I was leaving as soon as possible. After I met this Dusty Tails of coarse. And I just arrived at said ponies house, all pack'd an ready to go, just have to buy what I'd come for and be on my why. So I knock'd on the door, and waited, wasn't to long before someone came to answer. "Hello?" "Yes, are you Dusty Tails?" "That I am, can I help you?" Answer'ed the Dusty tan mane'd and dark brown elderly stallion. "Yes, my names Well Borne," I replied, bringing out the add I had tucked in my coat. "and I came by to see if you still have these things on hoof? or have you all ready sold them? He gave it one glance, then he's face lit up in understanding. "Ah, no no, I still haven't found a buyer yet. Why, are you interested?" "Indeed I am," I said, putting the add back. "would it be alright if I came in and had a look over of them first? I'd like to see what I'm getting before I buy." "Oh, yes yes, please step inside, an shut the door behind you." I did so as I followed him in, he lead me to the family room, which was as you'd expect to see in a simple cottage. "Make your self comfortable, I'll be right back with the harness an tools." "Thank you." I said as he went to get said items, and I removed my pack for the sort time I was there, it wasn't long before he returned with the harness draped over his forhalf. Now I should mention I had many ideas of what said harness may look like, and of how it would work, and it fit one of them. The harness looked like one you'd see in any of Baron Engels work, which included the front pouch/bag; but in place of the side bags were the sheaths with the hatchet strapped on the left, an Bowie on the right. He used his mouth to remove them from his back, and place them on the coffee table for me to look over. "Soo, ya travail much?" "Not usually, no. But recent events set me up to do so." Hmm, harness seems in good shape. "So I'd guess. you aren't sleeping in the woods, are you? I looked to the old pony, as I examined the Bowie, catching his glance at my pack. "I have no home, and no great savings in which to rent a room, I'm pretty much winging it on odd jobs till spring comes." Some small notices, no rust, has a whetstone with the sheath... "Hmm," *Ah-oh, that sounded thoughtful.* "would you take a free room if it was available? I put down the breaded hatchet, and gave my full attention to the pony before me. "That depends, while I'd like some free room an board thru the winter; would it be truly free, or are there some hidden cost?" He shook his head. "No hidden cost's. Ya see, I have some old friends who give a free room an board to any pony that may need it. As long as they follow the guidelines giving for living there, no payment in bits will be ask'd for." Now I was incredulous. I mean, that would be to good a deal. But, ponies? Ugh! Still tho... Now it was my turn to shake my head in aspiration, with which I gave a sigh. "Alright, where are they?" "In the town of Nigh'tingale, a three hour train ride from here." I nodded "And how much would the ticket cost?" "They were 20 bit's, one way, last time I went to see them." Sounds reasonable enough. "Then that's where I'll go next." I gave Dusty a curt smile, while he seemed to beam. "But not until after I buy this gear." That made him snort. I'd ask'd Dusty for directions for when I got there, he said to just ask where the bunk house was when I got there, or to ask for the WoodCutters; giving me the impressing that they were well known. Anyways, after spending my bit's on the harness, knife an hatchet, along with the ticket at the station (leaving me with 240 to work with) I was on my way. What ever I did next when I got there, would shape my life and lively hood for quite some time to come, I could only hope it was for the good. Here I go, leaving the twilight zone, or am I just entering? I don't know, what shall be, or already is. I just know, to enjoy myself as I can, for my time here may be fleeting. S' Well's Author's Note There is to be a large time skip ahead, just letting you know so you don't get to confused. And I had to add one cliche, I think you can all see it. Also, what mistakes or any did I make this time that I missed?
