Chapter 1: We crash the wedding, literally
People yelling, getting their pictures taken in outfits, and stuff everywhere. Yup, this is what a con should look and sound like, what if feels like? Well, it's pretty cool.
I was standing in a big building for the RTX as people rushed around me in different costumes and having a good time. I for one was in the swing of things with my own costume, I dressed as Qrow from RWBY. I had everything for it, the shirt, pants, boots, cape, I even made the necklace and got contacts… even though I'm not wearing them at the moment since they make my eyes itch. The only thing I didn't get or make is his sword/scythe. There's a lot of components to it which I didn't have on hand and getting one online didn't work since the one run into the ‘it doesn't look right' or ‘too damn expensive’ so I went without one.
Now before I continue talking I can guess you all have questions, one is ‘Who the hell are you?!?’ well my name is Will, I’m twenty-two years old and I work two jobs, one at a junkyard and the other metal working. Normally it would hard to juggle two jobs but since both are owned by the same people and both paychecks are rolled into one you could say that I have one job. It hard work but I get by.
Anyway, I was standing at the con waiting for my cousin. She was trying to put on her costume in the bathroom… that was about two hours ago. I don’t know if it was that it was hard to put it on or it was the whole ‘girls take a long time in the bathroom. As I waited I had people ask me to pose for pictures and take pictures. I didn’t mind since I wasn’t doing anything at the time.
“Will!” I heard someone yell from behind me. I turned to see my cousin heading towards me. She had long brown hair, gold coloured eyes due to contacts, and tan skin. She wore a gray trench coat with clothing that reminds me of a wasteland vibe. She also had a big book strapped to her side. She also had the Reiterpallasch from Bloodborne, a rapier with a gun built into it.
“Sorry, there was a line up for the changing rooms and there wasn’t any other place and I dropped a piece of my costume and broke which was really sad and I almost cried and..” I covered her mouth with my hand and sighed.
“Alex, calm down there’s no need to freak out,” I told her as I saw tears in her eyes. I rolled my eyes and saw which piece she lose. A pair of brown bunny ears. I didn’t get why she needed them since she looked cool without them but she was going for, and I quote, ‘I want to be a wasteland sorceress faunus from Rwby if it goes that way.’ I thought it was cool but…
“I said this before and I’ll say it again, why a bunny?” I asked. She glared at me for that.
“What's wrong with bunnies? You have anything against bunnies?" she asked. I stared at her for a moment and looked around to avoid her glare.
“No… just asking," I told her. She stared at me for a minute then started to smile.
“Well doesn't matter now, now come on! We have a con to check out!” she said as she headed off somewhere. I chuckled and started to follow behind her.
It been a few hours and so far it's been awesome. All the costumes were cool, I got to play the new Rwby game for a bit and got to see some teasers for the upcoming fourth volume. The designs were cool and I wonder if they are planning to give Yang a robotic arm? That would be cool.
Alex was having the time of her life, last I saw her she was talking and taking pictures of someone that dressed up as Pinkie with Nora’s clothes and hammer. Yes I know who Pinkie is, Alex is a huge fan of the show and makes me watch the shows. Their not bad but I prefer the fanfics of the show, one of my top favorites is The Witching Hour by Chaotic Ink.
As she is doing that I went around and check out to booths, there was some really cool stuff to see. As I'm looking through I saw a booth run by some guy that's wearing a creepy costume. He wore some sort of jester costume with a grimm mask.
As I approach he turned and, I guessed, smiled at me. I couldn’t tell due to the mask.
“Hello, hello, hello! Why look at you, you look like Qrow from the show! So what can I get you today my good sir?” he asked me. I stared at him for a minute then to the table. There was some really cool stuff here. I looked up to see clothing and some weapons, then I saw Qrow’s weapon. It was just sitting there in its standby mode. It looks like the real thing.
“Mind if I take a closer look?” I asked as I pointed at the weapon. He turned and looked at the weapon.
“Ahh good choice, I see that you don’t have the weapon for your costume, it might be your lucky day.” he stated as he took the sword down, handing it to me. I looked it over and saw that it was a 100% on the mark, I wonder if it goes from standby to battle mode?
“How much?” I asked the man. The man tilted his head and started to cackle.
“Hehe well since you’re in the costume and let's just say that I like you it will be… 200$ how does that sound?” the man asked. Wow, that’s cheap, if I would have guessed this thing would be up there in the thousands.
“Deal,” I said as I fished out the money and handed it to him.
“Good, now as a bonus, I’ll throw this in as well.” I looked up and saw him handing me what looked like bunny ears.
“Umm thank you?” I said as I took the ears. As I looked at them I heard Alex calling for me.
“Will! There you are, what have you been up to?” she asked.
“Oh, nothing just buying stuff, also here!” I said as I put the bunny ears on her head.
“Cool! Hey, you have your contacts on they look good on ya,” she said. I frowned I wasn’t wearing my contacts.
“Alex I’m not-” I stopped talking when I heard my voice. That wasn’t my voice, my voice sounded like Qrows. What the? I turned to look at the guy. “Hey, what’s going … and there’s a wall.”
Sure enough, there’s a wall. Why is there a wall there? What happened to the guy, hell what happened to everyone else? I looked around and saw that we were in a cave system with crystals all around. Oh, and Alex was freaking out.
“What’s going on! Where are we? How did we get here? AND WHY CAN’T I TAKE THESE EARS OFF?” she yelled the last part as she took both of the bunny ears and pulled. She made and face and let go of them. “Owww…”
I took a closer look at the ears and saw that they were attached to her head as if she was born with them. I checked my eyes for the contents and saw that I wasn’t wearing any.
“Alright, so you have now bunny ears and I have red eyes and sound like Qrow. We got turned into our costumes and are stuck in a cave.” when I said that Alex's eyes went wide.
“Oh my god, we were sent to another world! It’s like the rumors said, people have been disappearing at cons before. I thought it’s was just that rumors but now that it happened… hey are aren’t you freaking out?!” The now bunny Alex said. I blinked at her, why wasn’t I freaking out like her?
“I… guess there’s no point of freaking out, I read and written stories and I never thought freaking out is a good idea but…” I looked around and saw that the crystals were giving off light. “Better get it out of your system just to be on the safe side.”
“Yeah… wait why am I going to freak out and not you?” she asked me, I shrugged at her.
“That’s… true.” she looked around and took some steps back, taking a deep breath and…
“OH MY GOD WE ARE STUCK IN A DIFFERENT WORLD AND CHANGED INTO SOMEONE ELSE AND WE DON’T KNOW HOW TO GET HOME!!!!!!!!!”
“Who goes there!” we heard someone call out. I looked down the path and saw two beings walking towards us. I looked at Alex to see that she was scared.
“Everything is going to be fine.” I told her as I took a few steps forward. The beings walked out so I could see them… they were horses. Not like normal horses, oh no that would be crazy. They were walking like people but look like colourful horses, they also were wearing armor and holding spears.
“Who and what are you?” one of them asked. I eyed them for a moment before speaking.
“We mean no harm, we’re just lost,” I told them. They looked at one another and looked at me.
“Odd place to be lost at, there’s a flipping blizzard out there and by the way you are dress you should be dead right now.” the stallion said.
“Well, we didn’t bring any coats with us,” I told them. They began to whisper for a bit. I moved my hand to the sword that I had, it felt real in my hands and it was heavy. They looked back at me to speak.
“Listen until the blizzard passes we’re stuck here so we’re going to camp here. If you want you can stay with us until the morning were we going to the Crystal Empire.” the stallion explained. I nodded at them and looked at Alex. She looks like she was figuring something out.
“Alright, it’s better than the blizzard.” They nodded and headed back to where they came. I began to follow them until I was stopped by Alex.
“Oh man Will, we’re in the world of My Little Pony. You know what that means!” she asked me. I shrugged at her and I saw stairs in her now golden eyes. “That means that we’re going to met all of my favorite characters!
She was now dancing a little and acting all excited about it. I chuckled and pulled her were the other two want. At least she’s not freaking out.
STORYTIME!
There’s a story that’s older than most kingdoms, a story of beings known as Huntsman. One who’s a mastery over both magic and dust. Her magic rivals that to the princesses, the power to either wipe the land clean and raise anew.
The other skilled with his weapon, some say that both crows and ravens are his eyes to watch over the land for danger. He knows no match in combat and none has bested him.
They were there to fight off the beasts known as Grimm, protectors of Equestria. But after a war that was won, they vanished. No one knows where they disappeared to and of why but one thing is known, when Equestria is in danger they will return to protect the land once more.
They are the first, they are the first Huntsman.
Twilight
Another dead end. This is the third time I lead us to a dead end, I can’t help it I have no idea where I was going in the crystal caverns. Everything looks the same. I walked quickly as I hold my side.
“Twilight, you need to rest.” My soon to be sister-in-law said to me.
“I’m fine Cadence, you don’t need to worry.” I lied to her. In truth I felt blood coming from my side. I used some of my magic to heal the wound but I’m not that great with healing magic. I felt light headed but I kept pushing forward. “We need to get back before that… bug marries my brother.”
Princess Mi Amore Cadenza or Cadence was going to marry my older brother, Shining Armor today. But thanks to Chrysalis she kidnapped Cadence and shapeshift into her. I don’t know what she’s planning to do but we have to stop her. I started to breathe heavy as my vision to blur. I put my hand on the wall to breath as the pain from my side began to worsen.
“Twilight we need to stop, you’re killing yourself!.” Candace said. I grind my teeth and glared at her.
“I said I was fine.” I growled at her. She flinched at that and looked worried. I took some deep breaths to calm myself. “I’m… I’m sorry it’s just… I don’t know her plan for marrying my brother and I really don’t want that to happen.”
“I know, I also don’t want her to marry my Shiny.” She crossed her arms and huffed. “Shiny is mine and I work so hard to make him mine.”
I stared at her for a moment. Shiny… wow just wow. We continued on down where ever we were until I stopped and saw a set of doors. Just a pair of doors with symbols on them.
Those symbols, they look familiar. Where have I seen them before?
“Oh, my Celestia! Can it be!” Cadence said as she rushed passed me to look at the doors. I followed behind her as I looked at the doors.
“Cadence, you know these doors?” I asked her.
“Yes, yes I do. Twilight remember that story that I read to you when you were just a filly?” I paused a moment before answering.
“How can't I; you told me the story about the huntsman about a million times," I told her as I walked beside her. She was looking at the door.
“Remember when they vanished and no pony could find them, well I had a hunch that they would be close. Just… not this close.”
She placed her hand on the door and it shook and slowly opened. We went inside of the room and as the room lit up there were two giant crystals. One was a golden brown and a darkened gray. We walked a bit closer and I saw the brown gem crystal began to glow.
"Greetings, you have traveled far to come here and have fought many battles.” a female voice said. I blink and looked at Cadence and mouthed ‘What?’ she just shrugged.
“Are you… are you the two huntsmans?” Candace asked.
“Yes… yes, we are, we’re known as the first huntsman. One that is mastered the way of magic and dust and the other-”
A loud snoring sound came out of nowhere that interrupted the brown crystal. I looked around to see where it was coming from.
“God dang it Qrow! I was trying to be epic and cool and you have gone and ruined it!” The voice said. The gray crystal slowly began to lit up.
“What are you yelling about? I’m trying to sleep here.” a male voice said. The sound of yawning was heard before he spoke again. “Now… why are there two ponies here, with one of them bleeding badly?”
I felt the pain from my side as I put my back to the wall. I felt light headed and my vision blurred a bit. I felt Cadence by me and saw her look worried, she looked over at the two crystals.
“Please, we need your help. My husband is going to marry a changeling and my sister-in-law is bleeding badly, so please help.” she pleaded.
“Well we would love to help…”
“But can’t.” the male voice again interrupted the other again.
“Why can’t we, they’re in trouble so we have to help!” the female voice said.
“Uhh did you forget that we’re stuck in crystals?”
“... Oh yeah forgot about that.” Cadence looked at the crystals with a frowned.
“You two are Equestria's protectors when the land is needed help you will come, that what the story goes.” No one spoke for a bit until the female voice spoke up.
“Like what Qrow says we’re stuck in crystal and have no idea how to break out, also the land has been in danger at many times and we didn’t get out so how do you think that now would be a good time…”
Crack, snap, crack.
The sound of crystal breaking as cracks form on the crystals.
“Oh you gotta be kidding me.”
“Well that’s convenient.” the male voice said as both crystals shined brightly and exploded. With the last bit of magic, I made a shield to protect us from the chunks of crystal flying towards us. After that, I dropped my shield as stairs appeared in my vision. The pain was burning at my side but it began to dull. I looked over and saw a green glow around my body.
I felt my magic returned as I sat up. I looked and saw that all my wounds were gone and looked up to see someone standing in front of me. She wore a dark brown tattered trench coat with dark clothes underneath. She had a rapier at her side and a big book on the other, she had short brown hair with what looked like bunny ears on her head. Her eyes were the colour of gold as her hand was glowing green.
“Well not the best way to met each other but it’s a start.” she said as the magic faded as she walked towards us.
“Thank you, thank you very much,” Cadence said. The woman smiled at us.
“No problem, with out me you would have been dead. Yup, I’m great!” she boasted. I groaned at this, she sounds like Trixie.
“We need to get back up to the castle, we need to stop the wedding,” I said as I stood up. The woman looked at me for a moment.
“Right hold on, hey Qrow you up?” she called out. We looked over at where the other crystal was but it was too gone, but no one is there. “Qrow?”
Dusk
I don’t like weddings, I really don’t. Too many ponies and no way to get them to avoid you. I sighed as I watched as Princess Cadence walk towards Shining. Shining was staring off into space which was odd but today was his and it’s going to be perfect.
Well almost perfect.
“Umm, do you think we were a bit mean to Twilight about this whole thing?” Fluttershy asked.
“Oh don’t worry about it darling, I just guessed that she was stressed about the whole thing.” Rarity said. She looked over and frowned. “Though yelling to her brother was a bit extreme.
“Twilight was just blowing off some steam, in a couple of hours she will be fine and everything will go back to normal,” I said. I saw Cadence standing a still space out Shining as Princess Celestia began speaking.
“Dearly beloved, we’re gathered here today to join this stallion and mare in holy matrimony.” she looks over at Shining with a smile.
“Do you Shining Armor take this mare to be your wife, to love and care for to the end of days?”
“I… Do…” Shining said. I frowned at that it sounded… robotic.
“And do you Princess Mi Amore Cadenza take this stallion to be your husband, to love and care for to the end of days?”
“I do.” she said with a grin.
“And with the power in me, I pronounce you hus-” Before she could say the word a bright light burst into the room that made us covered our eyes. I heard an thud and a groan as the light disappeared. I looked and saw somepony standing up. He wore a gray shirt with a dark red tattered cape with black pants and two rings on his right hand. I sat that he was hairless other than the top of his head which was black. He had some sort of sword on his back as he holds his head.
“Ugg that was something,” he said as he began to look around. He cracked his neck and moved his hand to grab something. He pulled out a flask and opened it to take a swig of it.
“So… did I miss the ‘I object' part?”
