One Question
Curtain Call looked in his mirror. Inside he saw something he had seen over a thousand times before. It was the same light blue unicorn, with the same swept back silver hair, the same golden eyes, and the same cutie mark. There seemed to be something different this time, but Curtain could not figure out what it was. Everything looked the same as before, so why was he in his bathroom staring at his reflection in the dead of night?
"What's so strange today?" Curtain didn't expect an answer. It was said in an attempt to organize his thoughts. His thoughts, unfortunately, were not helpful. All they did was make him realize that this feeling of strangeness has existed within him for a while now, yet no answer could be found in his head.
The mirror did not have an answer either.
Several Months Ago
Curtain was lying in bed with the mare he loved more than anything in Equestria in his forearms. Moon Light was leaning into him, and all was right in the world for a moment. Unfortunately, the piece and quiet couldn't last forever.
"I don't think I'm a mare," Curtain moved to look his love in her eyes, and waited for her to continue, "I hate being a mare sometimes. I look in the mirror and something is wrong but I can never place it and there are times when I want to be able to rest my head on yours or be the one to take you onto the bed and I've been feeling like this for awhile and I've looked up some stuff but I don't know if I'd rather be a stallion all the time or not and I still want to have children that are biologically ours but I'm tired off not saying something and please don't hate me!" Moon Light had been rambling, now she was trying to hide behind her auburn mane.
Curtain Call didn't know how to respond at first; it took him a moment to sort through all that his love's confession. Yet when he stared at her... at his true love he knew there was only one response. "Moon LIght my dear, whether you feel like a mare or a stallion I could never hate you." Curtain could see Mool Light's emerald eyes sparkle as he said this. The twitch of amethyst wings was all the warning Curtain would receive before he was lost in his love's affection.
Things changed after that. Nothing big at first, but the subtle things would grow. Moon Light adopted the alias of Lunar Eclipse when the mare felt more like a stallion. Lunar was confident and strong. Curtain found he loved being held within his grasp. While Moon Light still enjoyed being held by Curtain Call; Curtain couldn't help but feel complete in Lunar's arms. Overtime, the line between Moon Light and Lunar Eclipse blurred until they became the best of both. Yet even then Curtain found himself in his lover's embrace more than not.
One day towards the beginning of summer Curtain made a joke. "Since you've been stealing my clothes so often Lunar why don't I steal some of Moon Light's?" It was meant as a joke. It was supposed to be a joke. A short time later, Curtain was wearing a dress for a day after he lost a bet with Lunar/Moon, he wasn't sure which one.
"You look great in that dress 'Collie'!" Curtain blushed at his love's reaction; yet it was not from embarrassment, but from pride.
"Really?"
"Absolutely beautiful."
Curtain Call had never been called beautiful before, but he found he liked it.
A Question at an Interview
"What does your cutie mark mean to you and how did you find it?"
"That's an easy one. See my cutie mark for those who don't know are the classical theatre masks of Comedy and Tragedy. What it means to me is that I can easily enter the roles I want to play. See, I've always wanted to be an actor even before I had a magic butt tattoo. The stage has always called to me.
"When I was young, my brother Treble and I would build these elaborate worlds to play in. He was typically the hero and I was whatever was needed. I even had different names to use as recurring characters. Call was the sidekick, he was who I played when the hero needed assistance or support. Curt was the rival or the antagonist, which ever worked better for our games. Lastly there was C.C.: C.C. may have been my favorite role just for how much fun it was to play. She was the kind of character that broke most of the stereotypes about fillies that us colts had, and she would typically attempt to escape her tower or she would provide the last bit of help that our hero needed. We had a running gag that she hated to be called a colt ‘cause we thought it was funny since she was just a role I played. It was after a whole day of adventure with me switching these roles back and forth that I got my cutie mark. I didn't even realize it until I got home that night."
A Second Question
Curtain wasn't sure what he was doing. Lunar Light as his love was now named had gotten out of bed to begin getting ready for work. Curtain meanwhile had put on one of Moon Lights old dresses and was staring at himself in the mirror. He was trying to answer a question he had the night before. However, a new question had developed, one that made him rethink his life. Rethink the random thoughts he could remember thinking. Why can't colts do that? Sometimes I wish I didn't have to deal with stupid thing between my legs. I wonder what would happen if I just kissed him? I want to be held like I'm hold her sometime. Really, what's wrong with a stallion sitting in the restroom. I have to admit this dress does feel nice. Why can't stallions carry purses, it seems so useful.
"Who am I?"
Yet the mirror didn't have an answer.
