Chp.2 Kids say the silliest things
"Thank ya doc for letting me come in early" Applejack said. To be honest I loved her hospitality.
"No problem Applejack. Any injuries that I don't know about before we start the routine check up?" I asked her.
"None at all doc, I have a clean slate of health" She said.
"I'll see about that" I said jokingly. "Take a seat on the table"
She hopped up on the table and I reached for my stethoscope. As I put it against her chest she jumped back a bit from how cold the stethoscope was. I instructed her to breath in and out so I could listen to her lungs and heart. Everything was fine but I kept listening to the rhythm of her heart. I am a big musician but I became a doctor to please my parents.
"Everything alright doc" AJ asked.
"What? Oh sorry, everything sounds normal" She let out a smile and we continued on with her check up. Details I am not going to describe now because they are a little explicit but for the sake of you guys she was "clean as a whistle" One way to put it. Anyway AJ was on her way after about an hour passed and I still felt completely exhausted. I just wanted to sleep.
But you have to push on and I did. After the next couple of appointments and a very unexpected encounter with a patient with hoof in mouth disease and it was my lunch break. Just as tired as I was I still had to work the late shift for any unexpected nightly emergencies. Which have been happening a lot more recently. Maybe because it is the summer and more teenagers were trying stupid things.
"Nurse Redheart, I'm leaving for my lunch break" I yelled into the room she was currently in.
"Got it doctor Star" She yelled back.
I couldn't shake this feeling of exhaustion away from me. I had no idea what it was. I wasn't getting as much sleep as I would like to but I was told that 7 hours is enough sleep. Anyway I was going around to the market in the center of town to try to find something to eat that was cheap. I didn't bring much money with me. My drowsiness was probably the cause of this. I sighed when I saw how much I actually brought.
"Only five bits. What was I thinking this morning?" I asked myself and I accidently got some unwanted attention. They gave me crazy looks and all I was thinking was "piss off".
"Hey mister you look hungry. Why don't you try some delicious Sweet Apple Acres Apples" This little filly yelled at me when I happened to wander in front of her stand. I remembered this little filly from this morning she had that red colored hair and the bow in it.
"Um mister are you alright" She asked me. I must have been in a daze from my under slept state of 7 hours.
"What? Oh sorry. I'm fine and no thank you I have some apples at home." I started to walk away but the filly yanked back on my tail.
"C'mon please mister? I got to make a sale, it's the only way of getting my cutie mark. Please?" She looked at me with those "irresistible can't say no to" kind of eyes.
"Alright I'll take an apple" I said. Those eyes man. They get what they want.
"That'll be five bits" She said with the apple in her hoof.
"Don't you think that is a little expensive for an apple?" I asked her.
"My older sis told me it was five bits for an apple" I was about to hand over my bits to her when someone stopped me.
"Applebloom! It's five bits for a bushel one bit for every apple. Doctor Star what are you doing here?" she asked. She must have not noticed me before she stopped my purchase.
"Out for lunch. It isn't often that I run into patients on the street" I said and let out a smile.
"Wait, patient? Does that mean you have seen my sister naked?"

OMG! people have read this XD. Alright I know that the story hasn't gone its complete course with the tagged characters yet but trust me it will. I might do a dramatic reading of my fanfic on my youtube channel when it's finished. Chp.4 A lie to help a friend
It's easier to work with fainted patients; less motion for setting the bone in a broken wing which is a pain in the ass to begin with. She wasn't out for long though, she woke up about forty five seconds later, still kind of weary from the set of events that had just taken place.
"What happen?" She asked still all weary and what not.
"You broke your wing after a scooter related accident. Then you fainted after I popped the bone back into place" By this time I was already splinting the wing to her body. She had some tears running down her eyes and to be honest, I felt bad for the filly. Her wings represented her freedom that she had. I wish I could fly, but NO I had to be born a unicorn instead. I digress.
"Don't cry, your wings will be working again back in no time" I said and I tried to put a smile on my face.
"Do you know how long it will take?" She asked wiping tears from her eyes.
"I'm not gonna lie, probably about two months, give or take your recovery speed" I saw her heart sink in her eyes and she put her head down. She had more tears sweltering in her eyes. I didn't know what to say so I just kept my mouth shut. When I had finished bandaging her up she began to sob and buried her head in her front legs. I hate it when I see anyone this sad, or sad at all in fact.
"Don't cry, the EMT's that were here are going to get your parents now they should be here soon" I said with a smile on my face, but what I heard next made my heart sink.
"I don't have any parents. I live at the Ponyville orphanage." This probably brought more tears to her eyes. I felt like a dick to bring that up.
"I'm sorry to hear that." That is all I could say, and I felt like a dick for it to.
"I'm sorry to." She said which made me raise an eyebrow.
"Why are you sorry."
"To waste your time, just like I wasted my parents time" Ugh that hit me in my heartstrings.
"You didn't waste my time at all. I'm on emergency calls for the rest of the day." It's what we do from making our work stale. switch off every now and then. "What's your name" It's about time I asked.
"Scootaloo" She said in between sobs.
"My name is doctor Star, but you can call me North" I said, trying to muster up another smile. I could hear yelling down the hall way. Something told me it was Helga, the orphanage's head honcho. She completely ignored the nurse yelling at her to wait in the waiting room. Needless to say she was a stereotypical orphanage runner or whatever they call themselves. Completely ignoring the nurses she barged into our room and looked down at Scootaloo, and then to me.
"Thank you so much for bandaging up Scootaloo for me, she had me so worried." She said in the most obnoxious, uptight voice I have ever heard and Scootaloo shot her a dirty look.
"It's my job. I say I'm second best at it, reason why I say that is because my father is still here." I said and she laughed.
"Now if you don't mind I will be bringing Scootaloo back home now" She said and I watched Scootaloo's ears drop. I couldn't just let Helga take her back. I could only do one thing at the moment.
"But I do mind you see, Scoot's needs to stay here for a couple of days so we can monitor her condition. A broken wing is serious and needs special treatment." I completely made that bullshit lie up.
"I have never heard of such a thing in my entire life." She said and looked at me in disgust.
"Better believe it. You can come back in...lets say about a week" I lied again.
"Fine" She said, and she walked out of the room. Scootaloo had stopped crying and she almost had a smile on her face.
"I completely lied to her. I hope you know that." I told her. She laughed a little, still kinda sobbing.
"You didn't have to do that." She said. I smiled and said.
"I know. I just couldn't stand to see you go back there. I could tell how much you hate it."
She shouted "Finally somepony believes me!"

Chp.5 A new lease-on-life
The week past that Scootaloo had stayed and she went back to the orphanage. She still had regular check ups with me though and she stopped by quite frequently during my lunch breaks. Needless to say I felt like we had a connection of some sort. We understood each other on a different level. She had told me all about her dreams of wanting to be a great flier and be part of the Wonderbolts someday. She was always going on crazy adventures with the CMC to find their cutie marks. I kept telling her that she wouldn't find her cutie mark like that but she ignored me just like a typical girl would when they "pursue their dreams".
Anyway she has an appointment with me today to change her cast, she has been complaining about the smell, and I can't blame her. And Just as clockwork she arrived with Helga. She made me want to punch trees. And not Fluttershy don't worry. Scootaloo had a sad look on her face. I assumed that it was because Helga chewed her out for something. She always had something to say to pretty much everyone, and she took it out on Scootaloo the most. It pissed me off. We said our usual and friendly hellos to one another and then Scootaloo followed me to my room.
"What's the matter Scoots? You look so glum." I said trying to start a conversation. I figured she would comeback at me with a witty comment but instead she flung her arms around me and started to cry. "Whoa, sweetie whats wrong" I asked and I put a hoof around her. She didn't respond right away, her sobbing kept breaking her sentences. When she had calmed down enough she had finally told me what was bothering her.
"I didn't get adopted" She finally broke out in between her sobs and squeezed me tighter. I could only do the same.
"I'm so sorry" Was the only thing I could say. I really felt bad for her. She had been talking about this for quite a while now and I hoped that she would finally have a family to call her own.
"Don't be sorry. It's not your fault. And besides, maybe I'm not supposed to have a family." At this point she had stopped crying.
"That's not true Scoots. I'm sure you will have a family that will love you" She didn't respond. I cut off her cast and I washed her wing to try to prevent further stinkage. She had healed a bit faster than what I had expected. I put a new fresh cast on her wing and with that I was finished. Although the silence irked me. She hasn't been this quiet since the day I met her. She finally broke the silence.
"Hey doc?" She said with her ears down.
"Yes Scootaloo?"
"Does the world hate me?" She asked beginning to tear up again.
"I don't know if the world hates you Scoots, but I don't think that matters because even if the world hates you there are people that will always love you for who you are."
"That doesn't make me feel any better." I saw a tear drop hit the floor. I almost began to tear up.
"I'm sorry. I'm sure you will find a family who will love you" I couldn't help but tear up.
"Are you ok doc?" She asked and I cleared my throat.
"I'm fine Scoots. I'm finished with your cast. Best not keep Helga waiting." She gave me a hug and replied.
"You looked like you needed one." And she walked out to the waiting room and left with Helga.
I couldn't take it anymore. I shut the door to my room and I let the tears stream down from my eyes. Somepony has to show that filly what it is like to have a family. I couldn't stand to see her like the way she is now. She has to get out of that orphanage. Once I had calmed down I went to go see nurse RedHeart about my schedule and what I had left.
"Nurse RedHeart? What does my schedule look like for the rest of my day?" I asked, hoping for a blank one.
"You get off at five doctor Star."
"Thanks nurse." I quickly trotted back to my room to get my things ready. It was already four thirty so I figured I could sneak out now and get away with it. I heard my door open. Standing at it was Nurse RedHeart.
"I know what you are thinking Doctor. You are going to adopt that filly aren't you?"
"Somepony has to show her that she can have a family to call her own. I can't let her stay in that orphanage until they kick her out. And plus I feel she has given me a new lease-on-life" I told her. She smiled.
"Well doctor, I hope that you two learn a lot about each other in the years to come." I smiled back to her and with that I was on my way to go "rescue" Scootaloo, in some sense. I don't think that I have ever run as fast in my life, especially towards an orphanage. Out of breath I reached towards the door and it just blew open. Who do I see standing in front of the door? AppleJack and AppleBloom.
"Howdy Doctor Star, What are y'all doin' here?" AJ asked me.
"I-I uh was looking to adopt somepony." I came out with the truth.
"Well congratulations doc' you seem like you can handle the responsibility. I was here to get my sis' and see her back home."
"Yeah, I was just here to say goodbye to Scootaloo" AppleBloom said. I cleared my throat.
"Speaking of Scoots, She was the filly i was going to adopt." In sync both of the Apple sisters' mouths hit the floor.

"If you both excuse me, I must go in before they 'close' or whatever it is orphanages do" I rolled my eyes at the later half of that statement.
"Yes of course doc. C'mon AppleBloom we best get goin" And with that the Apple sisters left. I opened the doors to this hell hole and saw a couple of foals around the stairs and they had a tiny glimmer of light in their eyes when I walked through the door. I felt really bad for these children, having to deal with all of this. I can only imagine what kind of pain these foals have to go through when they see others with a family and not understanding why they didn't have one. I asked one of them to get Helga for me and they walked reluctantly towards a room off the set of stairs that I couldn't see. I could hear her talking back to the kid who I'd sent to get her. I guess everyone felt her wrath with good or bad intentions. She was walking down the stairs and noticed me Immediately.
"Don't tell me that another one of My Little Ponies is in your care again Doctor" Her voice was so snooty.
"No, I was actually looking to adopt." It got really quiet when I said that.
"Tonight? You have got to be kidding Doctor. The adoption process takes months to complete. To make sure you are satisfied with your decision."
"I already know who I will be picking Helga. Scootaloo." She looked at me like I had two heads.
"Scootaloo? I'm sorry Doctor but you can't just walk into my orphanage and say who you are going to pick. They have to agree to being adopted to."
"Fine. Can I at least talk to her."
"I guess so. I will bring you to her room." She very reluctantly escorted me down the hallway to where she slept along with about nine other fillies. We walked in the room and they all stared me down as soon as I set hoof into the room.
"Doctor Star? Is there something wrong with my wing?" Scootaloo asked looking quite surprised to see me.
"I don't know, is there" I smiled when I asked that. "Helga can you leave us be for the moment?" I asked and she rolled her eyes and left.
"So Doc, why are you here?" Scootaloo finally asked me.
"Well Scoots I remembered how down you were today about not getting adopted. So I was thinking, how would you like it to come stay with me?" Her eyes brightened when I asked her.
"Me stay with you? You mean it? Seriously?"
"Yeah why not?" I asked her and she wrapped her arms around me.
"YES! Please take me with you. C'mon lets get out of here!" She was already beginning to pack stuff.
"Hold on Scoots I have to fill out some paper work and all this other stuff first." Helga walked in at that moment with a clip board with some papers attached.
"I can see that there really is no separating you two. Doctor if you could sign here you and Scootaloo can be on your way." I walked over and skimmed through the papers before I signed anything. Everything seemed pretty legit so I signed where it was necessary.
"Doc can we go now?" Scootaloo said with her suitcase in her mouth.
"Sure thing Scoots. Thank you Helga for letting me take her" She just nodded. And with that we were on our way as a family.

Have you ever looked at someone and thought to yourself "they are going to change my life forever"? Yeah, neither have I. Let me start at the very beginning of when one little filly changed my life forever.
I am a doctor here in Ponyville and I was walking to my job just as any other day would predict. An endless, vicious and monotonous cycle that would make anypony go insane. As I was walking past the statue of Celestia I noticed three little fillies playing around. Nothing out of the normal there right? Fillies play around this entire town. I had no clue why they caught my eye so much. Maybe it was that I missed the freedom of childhood.
One quick mention about my eyes, they are special. The doctors have no idea why I have It. I can see the aurora, the life essence of ponies and all other beings. I can choose to use it at my own volition. Anyway I digress.
I arrived at work early so I could prepare my station for the check ups and other various medical things I would do throughout the day. I was particularly tired this morning. It probably something that coffee couldn’t fix.
"Doctor Star, your first patient is here"
"It's too early for a patient now. And my first appointment was scheduled for eleven. It's only 9:30" I felt a little nasty when I said that to be completely honest.
"You are looking at tomorrow's schedule. Right now she is scheduled to be here at 9:45 and she is early" Ok now I just feel like a complete asshole.
"Today is Tuesday?" I asked
"Yes Doctor Star" Nurse Redheart assured me.
"Alright send her in. And nurse, I'm sorry about earlier I just haven’t been getting as much sleep as I would like to" On that note she left and she brought my first appointment in, Applejack.

Chp.3 Lunch Break Adventures
Apple Jack's cheeks turned as read as the apples she sold and I could barely contain my laughter. I never thought I would stoop so low to laugh at perverted jokes.
"Why would you ever think that?" I asked Apple Bloom, still trying to hold down my smile.
"Well don't doctors have to do that to check to see if your healthy n' stuff" she said still not understanding what she said before hand. Apple Jack's cheeks looked hot enough to boil water on them and she pulled her hat over her face.
"Apple Bloom I think all this work has gone to your head. Why don't you head down home back on the farm, I'm sure Granny Smith will need your help with something" AJ said loosing some tint in her cheeks.
"But--"
"No buts Missy, run along now" Apple Bloom groaned and she threw her apron on the ground and walked off. I turned to look at AJ but she looked away.
"Your sister didn't embarrass you that bad did she?" I asked her she turned to me and said
"What? No of course not. Hehe, you know how kids are" She said, her cheeks returning to the rosy color they were before.
"AJ relax, Everything is on a professional level" I tried to reassure her but I probably made it worse.
"Don't you have some diseases to cure or something?" She asked, probably just to get rid of me.
"Nope, It's my lunch break. Now can I have the apple that I payed for, I'm kind of hungry" My stomach let out a roar and she handed me the apple. She turned away to go and haggle another customer. So instead of causing more harm I just simply walked away and ate my apple which got stuck in my teeth(Don't you just hate that?) so I was picking at the skin in my teeth the entire way back to the hospital. I didn't want my patients to think that I didn't take care of my dental hygiene.
I was back in the hospital for all about two minutes when a couple of EMT's arrived with an orange colored filly who's coat was stained with some blood. I ran up to see what was going on.
"What happened" I asked one of the EMT's there.
"She was on her scooter when she crashed and received an open fracture on her wing. (Doctor speak for the bone went through the skin).
"Get her into my room, I'll patch her up" The EMT's brought her in and sat her down on the table. "You guys can leave us, after all you two are still on call (Ready at moments notice. They don't have to stay unless a serious emergency is at hand). Her wing was still bleeding, but not as bad due to the clotting that has already taken place.
"Alright sweetie, I have to put the bone back into your skin. This is going to hurt" I told her and she simply nodded and she looked away from what I was about to do. I grabbed on to the bone and I shoved it back into place. She screamed and fainted.
