This is the story of my first official OC Bismuth, a child born from a mistake and as seen to most as nothing more than a mistake. Join as he learns of his ill fate and struggles to overcome it in hopes of becoming a productive member of society. Enjoy.

The mysterious case of Bismuth
In the center of town square of the Crystal Empire a tourist group was visiting the heart of the city and of course no visit would be complete without visiting the one and only Crystal heart inside the majestic tower. The tourist group leader Quicksnap was giving a very informative lecture of the history of the beloved sacred item and how it thwarted the return of the dreaded dark King Sombra, when he was done it was time to ask questions when one of the tour members suddenly raised their hand.
"Yes! You sir, in the very back." Quicksnap said pointing over to the stallion at the back of the crowd, the stallion was dressed in a suspicious brown trench coat and fedora while wearing a pair of deep dark sunglasses.
"Could you tell us more about King Sombra? Like has there ever been any remains of him when the Elements of harmony defeated him for the second time?"
"Excellent question sir, even though that information is not exactly provided in the tour but from what some witnesses say they spotted the very end of Sombra's devilish horn break off and land during that fateful day."
"Do you know where exactly?" the stallion said pushing his way towards the front of the crowd along with two other mysteriously dressed ponies.
"Uh, about over yonder. At the very far edge of the city."
"Thanks for info, you dumb pathetic ponies!" the stallion laughed before erupting in a cloud of green flames showing his true form as a changeling drone along with the other mysterious ponies before all three sprouted their transparent insect wings and flew out of the tower laughing wickedly as a crowd of ponies down below screamed at the sight of them.
A team of royal guards charged into view with the intention of stopping and capturing the intruders, the first changeling growled upon seeing them.
"Take care of 'em! I'll get the horn!" he snarled at the other two.
The two changelings flew lower and started charging towards the guards who were charging up their horns for a massive magical attack, the twin drones coughed up and spat out dual acidic globs of green goo which landed on the ground burning it and opening up a giant hole rather instantly which the guards failed to slow down and fell inside. As for the leader changeling he made his way to the far edge of the Crystal Empire where a small tip of a dismembered horn could be seen poking out from the ground from above.
"Bingo! Come to papa!" he snickered as he made a beeline downwards and landed before he began digging up the old relic.
The horn was severely scratched and beaten up weathered down from being buried for such a long time, it may not looked like it but the horn truly was a treasure worth looking for.
"The queen is gonna be so pleased with me! You're my ticket to the easy life!" he said holding the horn close and kissing it.
"Ahem, I believe you're not welcomed here." a familiar voice said.
The changeling gasped aloud before turning to face Shining Armor who was somehow waiting for him as he slowly walked towards him.
"Back off Shining! I only came for the horn!"
"It's a shame that you're not leaving here with it. Now hand it over."
"Over my dead body! Come and get it you dumb pony!"
The changeling leader flew over Shining's head and started heading back towards the Crystal Empire with Shining Armor chasing after him firing a series of blasts at him, the other changelings were still hanging around the hole they made with the guards still trapped inside when they spotted their leader flying back towards them.
"Here! Take the horn!" he said throwing the broken horn high into the sky before getting blasted to the ground by Shining Armor.
One of the duo grabbed the horn before flying off with Shining Armor in close pursuit.
"Oh god, oh god, oh god! What do I do? What do I do? What do I do?" the changeling said as Shining Armor was quickly catching up to him before tackling him to the ground.
"Give me the horn!" Shining demanded reaching for the horn.
"You want it? Go get it!"
The changeling threw the horn high into the air again before landing in the hands of the last changeling before he too started flying away.
"Oh come on!"
Shining Armor started up the chase again following after the last changeling who was much smaller and weaker than the first two, this was starting to show as he wasn't able to stay in the air for so long and the heavy horn was starting to slip out from his tiny hands wearing him down a bit. He soon lost his grip on the relic as it started plummeting towards the ground in dead center of town square, the horn shattered upon hitting the ground breaking up into thousands of black shard pieces. Shining Armor walked up to the sea of shards picking up one of the them and taking a closer look at it, light soft whispers could be heard coming from the shard piece right before it was yanked out of his hand by an unseen invisible force affecting the other shards as well keeping them all levitated in the air. A crackle of purple electricity surged through the shards as they began swirling around in a violent motion in the form of a giant purple hurricane, the tail of the hurricane dug deep into the ground like a drill creating a massive swirling vortex with the gravity pulling qualities of a black hole. Several ponies screamed in terror as they were being sucked towards the mysterious void, Shining Armor used his magic to create a aura around the ponies suspending them in the air and keeping them safe before he too started feeling the unbelievable strength of the black hole. He dug his feet into the ground trying to slow down the pull but force was still too great, closer and closer he was dragged towards the unknown darkness thinking it will lead to certain death. All he could think about was his loving wife, blossoming young child, and the grilled cheese sandwich he left on the breakfast table this morning. The grilled cheese!
In a final attempt of bravery he fired one last magical beam coating in a powerful aura into the eye of the void, suddenly the force of the pull was weakening gradually at first but then all at once causing Shining Armor to fall to the ground on his face. After prying his face off the ground he could see the vortex moving wildly loosing it's shape and power before suddenly vanishing in a giant purple puff of smoke leaving behind a enormous crater in the ground with something small glowing inside. Shining slowly poked his head over the edge to see what was glowing, what he saw took his breath away.
Later at the castle:
Princess Cadance was carrying Flurry Heart in her arms along with several servants and maids was walking frantically through the halls signing off on several official documents and making sure the castle was properly cleaned after another one of Flurry Heart's magical lessons (last time she turned several of the maids into Swiss cheese platters) she was nearly at her wit's end when she was relieved to see Shining Armor along with several royal guards fly into the castle, in his hands was something wrapped in a white blanket.
"Shinning Armor! Oh thank Celestia, I hope you're here to help out."
"Yes I did, but before I do....you really need to see this."
"What is it?"
Cadance handed one of the maids Flurry Heart before getting closer to Shining Armor, she gently moved the white blanket to see a foal no older than a newborn sleeping inside Shining's arms. It was a small unicorn colt with a deep purple glossy coat and a silver based mane with the very tips colored with every known color in the rainbow, the small child stirred in his sleep before slowly opening up his wide eyes revealing a vast pool of baby blue.
"Wh-Where did he come from?"
Shining Armor explained everything, from the Changelings invading the city from the strange phenomenon in town square where the small foal was found at the bottom of the crater. Cadence was surprised and was in awe of how a living thing could result in the destruction of some dusty old relic.
"He's all alone, with no one to care for him." she said taking the small child out of her husband's arms.
"Well, I wouldn't say that. I'm sure that there's plenty of foster homes in Equestria."
She looked at him as if that was the most offensive thing she had ever heard.
"Or...not." Shining said sheepishly scratching the back of his head.
Cadance started cooing with the small foal making him laugh and babble when he suddenly grasped her hand and brought it close to him as if it was the safest coziest thing in the world, it made her giant heart melt. Shining knew that look in her eye all too well.
"Cadence, I know what you are thinking but caring for Flurry Heart and the kingdom is already a full time job. For Celestia's sake you've been running yourself ragged lately."
"It doesn't matter Shining, this child is a pure miracle of life. Born from mere magic, if Celestia was here she would say the same thing."
"But, Cadance...."
That's when Shining looked at the child again, the small colt was giggling and laughing in Cadance's arms. He knew it would be cruel and a shame to drive such a child away.
"Okay, it's up to you Cadance. What do you want to do with him?"
"I think you know my answer."
"I figured. So, what do you suppose we call 'em?"
"Hmmm...."
Cadance looked at colt's mane, how it shimmered with a metallic crystal like texture glowing in a variety of colors much like a certain element she was especially fond of.
"How about...Bismuth?"
"Bismuth? Huh...you know, I kinda like that name. Has a nice ring to it."
"Bismuth it is then. Hi, Bismuth."
Bismuth cooed before sticking his hand in his drooling mouth sucking on it. Flurry Heart started struggling to get out of the maid's arms before she fluttered over to her parents hovering just above Bismuth.
"Flurry Heart, say hello to your new baby brother." Shining Armor said holding his toddler daughter closer to the baby.
The two stared at each other before Bismuth suddenly sneezed releasing a multi-colored lighting cloud which floated around a bit before he tried to eat it thinking it was candy shocking him in the process, the two giggled as the surrounding adults laughed along with them. That night Cadance cradled young Bismuth in her arms rocking him slowly to sleep before placing him inside a nursery crib at the foot of their bed in their bedroom. Cadance and Shining Armor soon got into bed before kissing each other goodnight and going to sleep.
The next day:
Cadance and Shining woke up to the sound of loud crashing like a collection of fine china hitting the hard ground simultaneously, Cadence immediately looked in the crib to see that Bismuth was missing.
"Shining, Shining where's the baby?"
"Which one?" he asked with a yawn.
"Bismuth! He's not in his crib!"
"What!?! Where is he then!?!"
"I don't know!"
There was another sudden loud crash followed by a maid screaming .
"That sounded like it came from the hallway, come on!"
The two put on their morning robes before heading into the hallway only to duck as two fast moving objects flew by overhead, it was Bismuth coated in a deep blue magical floating electric aura and Flurry Heart flapping her wings frantically to try and catch up with her sibling laughing and giggling away as they flew through the halls causing several servants to hit the ground for cover.
"Bismuth! Flurry Heart! Stop!" Cadance called out as she ran after them.
"This Is a great way to start the day." Shining Armor sighed as he joined in the chase.
The sibling foals flew into the throne room doing corkscrews and loop-da-loops in midair before finally Bismuth came in contact face first into one of the crystal pillars holding up the ceiling, a domino effect began as the first pillar started toppling the others in succession creating a sea of dust and leaving a mess of rubble. Bismuth poked his head from underneath the rubble before smiling sheepishly, the crowd of maids and servants glared at the young colt for his reckless behavior.
"Like I said, a great way to start the day." Shining sighed.
"Wait, Shining...does Bismuth look a bit older to you?" Cadance asked as she picked up the young colt and held him in her arms.
"Older? What do you mean?"
Bismuth who was no bigger than an infant was now about the same size as Flurry Heart, if not bigger.
"Huh, that's weird."
"You don't think this has something to do with him appearing out of a hurricane?"
"You know I did think that, but I think it's best we call Twilight to see what she thinks of the situation."
In a few hours Twilight along with her trusty assistant Spike was knocking at the castle door.
"What do you think Princess Cadance and Shining Armor called us for?" Spike asked.
"I don't have the foggiest idea, it sounded pretty important in the letter. I hope nothing bad has happened."
Twilight knocked again only to have a group of maids and servants grab Twilight and Spike before pulling them inside.
"We're so glad you're here Princess Twilight, we knew from the moment it all started it was only going to get worse!"
"What's getting worse?"
"Follow us, and you'll see."
Twilight and Spike followed the group through the castle, the hallways were tattered and covered in burn marks.
"Whoa, was there a....dragon loose in the castle? And from the looks of things, it was a pretty big one." Spike gulped.
"Believe me, we wish it was a dragon."
"Then what could it be?"
"Step inside, and have a look for yourself." one of the servants said opening the door to the throne room.
Twilight and Spike entered to see Cadance and Shining Armor chasing after Bismuth who was airborne again only this time he was riding a multi-colored thundercloud firing silver lighting bolts in every direction hitting anything and everything in the throne room.
"Li-zard!" Bismuth giggled before he fired a lighting bolt in Spike's direction.
Spike screamed before jumping back just before the bolt hit the ground leaving a searing mark on the carpet before he started running away with the lighting cloud jockey hot on his tail, this became quite literal as Bismuth fired another bolt hitting Spike on his tail causing him to cry out in pain before jumping inside a vase to hide. As for Twilight she suddenly teleported herself in the air while using her wings to keep her up looking around to see where Bismuth went who immediately ran into her and taking her along for the ride.
"Young colt, stop this cloud right now!"
Bismuth babbled in agreement right before the cloud made a tire screeching halting sound with the momentum throwing Twilight off and landed on the ground with her eyes swirling. Bismuth clapped his hands together laughing allowing Cadance to sneak behind him and grab him off the cloud.
"Gotcha you naughty little colt. Twilight? Twilight are you okay?"
"I'm okay, right as rain. Speaking of which...why is it dripping wet in here?"
"That would be because of Bismuth here, somehow a giant rain cloud appeared the moment he started crying when he wouldn't go down for a nap."
"Bismuth? Like the element on the periodic table?"
"Yes, exactly! Shining here didn't get it at first. Anyway, I suppose we should do some explaining."
"Yes, please do." Spike said as he climbed out from inside the vase and started massaging his burned tail.
Shining Armor and Cadance explained all the events that happened yesterday finishing up with the decision to adopt the young unicorn...and the hectic morning they've been having so far but more importantly the fact that the young colt seemed to be growing at a rapid rate along with the amount of unstable magic he possesses.
"Looks like a real situation, to be honest I've never heard of rapid age progression but I'm sure it's just a hiccup of an early growth spurt is all."
"And the magic?"
"All unicorns have massive bursts of magical energy that comes and goes periodically, just like Flurry Heart."
"You're absolutely right Twilight. In fact, why don't you watch Bismuth for a while until we finish repairing the castle?" Shining Armor suggested.
"Shining, he's only been here for one night. I don't think he's ready to leave home yet, besides I'm sure Twilight is busy herself."
"On no really, I'm not. In fact I'd love to watch over him in the meantime while you two gather yourselves together. It's the least I can do."
"Are you sure? I'm not gonna lie, this one is a bit of a handful."
"You have nothing to worry about, me and my friends are considered the best babysitters in Ponyville. Besides if I'm trouble I'll just pop back here."
Cadance thought about this for a while.
"Okay, okay. You promise you'll come back if anything goes wrong?"
"I promise."
Cadance looked into Bismuth's eyes, he cooed and babbled as he placed his small hand on her nose making her laugh.
"....Okay. Be good to Auntie Twilight, mommy's gonna miss you." she said before placing a kiss on his forehead.
Bismuth was handed over to Twilight who immediately started tickling him and babbling with him.
Back in PonyVille:
Applejack, Rainbowdash, Fluttershy, Rarity, and Pinkie Pie was waiting outside the castle door for Twilight and Spike to return so they could talk about preparations for the upcoming fall festival.
"Howdy Twilight, so glad you're here. We need to talk about what kind of decorations are gonna be used at the festival-hey, who's the little youngin?" Applejack asked as soon as Twilight and Spike walked into view.
"Girls, I'd like to introduce you all to Shining Armor and Cadance's new child Bismuth!" she said holding up the small babbling child up for her friends to see.
"~Awww." they all said unison.
"Wait, Cadance and Shining Armor had another kid? Since when?" Rainbow Dash said crossing her arms and raining an eyebrow.
"Yesterday I suppose, from what they told me he just popped up."
Rarity and Fluttershy ran past Rainbow knocking her out of the way so they could get closer to the child.
"Oh my Celestia, he is too cute! I could just dip him in some chocolate and eat 'em up. Yes I would, yes I would." Rarity said playing with Bismuth's tiny hands making him laugh.
"So are you babysitting him Twi? Because if-if you are I could help if you want." Fluttershy asked.
"Oh that's a great idea Fluttershy, in fact you can all help."
Rainbowdash suddenly pulled her head out of the ground after getting knocked out of the way when she heard that.
"But what about the fall festival? There's still a lot of work to do."
"Relax Rainbowdash, there's still plenty of time left to take care of everything. It's what I always say, don't worry about every little thing." Pinkie said hugging her friend.
"Since when do you say that?"
"Just now."
Rainbow rolled her eyes and sighed, the others laughed right before Bismuth started crying.
"Looks like somepony's hungry wungry, let's get him inside so we can feed him." Twilight said handing him over to Spike before opening the castle doors allowing everyone to enter the main chambers before using her magic to materialize a high chair into view while Spike placed Bismuth inside.
"Hey Twilight, did Shining Armor and Cadance specify what we should be feeding him?" Spike asked as Bismuth continued to cry.
"I don't think so Spike, I'm making some baby food right now."
Twilight soon returned with a bowl of orange mush with a spoon before placing it in front of the crying Bismuth, the small colt stopped abruptly before sniffing the food but immediately knocked it over in disgust before crying all over again.
"Yikes, looks we got a pickey eater here." Spike said quickly cleaning up the mess off the floor.
"We can handle this, we can definitely handle this. We just need to find something he likes. Does anypony have any ideas?"
"I got this, I'll be darned if anypony could pass up a freshly picked apple from Sweet Apple Acres." Applejack said proudly placing a fresh red apple in front of Bismuth.
The young colt immediately knocked the fruit away sending it flying and hitting Rainbowdash in the face with a splat.
"Huh, I guess I'm darned then. I guess we'll have to feed him something else then, how hard could it be?"
[one long food montage later]
The entire room was covered in a variety of sticky foods which none of them Bismuth ate, everyone was exhausted to the bone laying out on the floor as the colt still cried.
"Ugh, what does he want?" Rainbow groaned as she covered her ears.
"If it's not food, then what could he want?" Fluttershy asked.
Bismuth suddenly stopped crying and started playing around with some jelly he somehow shaped in the form of a ball laughing aloud as he bounced it around. That's when Twilight got an idea.
"I think I know what to do."

True to her word Twilight solved the problem by bringing Bismuth to one of the most fun places in PonyVille, none other then Sweet Apple Acres where around this time of year the leaves would change their colors and fall off creating an endless sea of leaf piles to play in. Granny Smith was sitting on the front porch in her rocking chair watching Big Mac and Applebloom rake all the leaves into giant piles, as soon as he saw the first pile Bismuth struggled out of Twilight's hand and run towards it.
"Phew, that's the last of 'em Big Mac." Applebloom said wiping a stream of sweat off her brow.
"Eeyup." the giant red stallion nodded in agreement right before Bismuth brushed right passed them jumping straight into the pile of leaves sending them everywhere much to the their inconvenience.
"Sorry 'bout that, this little one was just bored is all. I'll help clean up when he's done." Applejack apologized.
"I sure hope so, you know how long it took to rake all these leaves? An hour, maybe even two." Applebloom sighed.
As for Bismuth he was having the time of his life jumping from leaf pile to life pile toppling each one down whooping and hollering as he did so. Just then Spike's stomach started rumbling.
"Heh, guess we were so busy trying to feed Bismuth I forgot to feed myself."
"Well lucky for you all I baked some lip smackin' apple pies, come on in and have a slice." Granny Smith said leading everyone inside.
As they ate a thought occurred to Pinkie Pie.
"Hey Twilight, since Bismuth is adopted does anyone know his birthday?"
Twilight gulped loudly when she realized that.
"H-His birthday? Why would we be worrying about that?" she asked not wanting to tell her friends exactly how Bismuth came to be thinking they would not understand and would look at him in a negative way.
Unfortunately she was trying to convince Ponyville's #1 party planner otherwise.
"Well I for one think he deserves a party either way, so why not today!?!"
Everyone chatted in agreement.
"Um, I guess that would be okay. There's nothing wrong with a little celebration."
Unfortunately Pinkie doesn't know the word little when it comes to parties as she converted PonyVille into party central with wild colorful decorations, food, games, music, live entertainment placed everywhere. Bismuth along with some other kids were bobbing for apples when he almost fell in if it wasn't for Rainbowdash catching him at the last second.
"Careful now little tyke, we don't need you getting wet." Rainbow said before Bismuth hugged her, she was surprised at first but then returned the hug before setting him back down so he could run around with the other kids.
"Hey Rainbow, how do you like the party?" Pinkie asked as she bounced up to her on her spring of a tail.
"You know, I wasn't so sure about this new kid but...I think he's growing on me a little."
"Glad to hear it. Speaking of which it's time for Bismuth to blow out his birthday candles!"
Everyone gathered around a wide party table as Mr. and Mrs.Cake placed a giant birthday cake in front of Bismuth before Pinkie Pie started singing the birthday song polka style dressed in a clown outfit and riding a unicycle before finishing in a firework display, Bismuth inhaled deeply before blowing out the candles and everyone cheered when suddenly Discord appeared out of the cake playing a wacky looking kazoo.
"Right here Discord." Fluttershy said holding Bismuth up to his face.
"Goo!"
Discord suddenly gasped and screamed before turning into a chicken and vanishing with a pop.
"Ooooo-kay, what was that all about?" Raindow asked.
"I don't have the foggiest clue, then again it is Discord." Applejack said before eating the piece of cake that landed on top of her hat.
The next day:
Twilight woke up in her bed to the smell of something burning.
"Spike, what did I tell you without cooking without me supervising?" she yawned groggily.
"I'm not cooking anything Twilight." Spike said as he walked into her bedroom with a cup of coffee in hand.
"Wait, if you're not cooking...then who is?"
"How about we answer that after we figure out where Bismuth is?" Spike said pointing at the empty crib.
Both rushed out of the bedroom calling out Bismuth's name realizing the smoke filling up the hallways. They soon found the small colt in the kitchen, the only thing was he wasn't small anymore. He looked to be about Twilight's age dressed in a black tank top T-shirt and blue jeans as he was humming along a morning tune cooking breakfast, well burning would be a better word.
"Morning Auntie, wants some eggs?" he said holding up a pan of flaming omelets.
"Uh, no thanks."
"Suit yourself, more for me." he said picking up a flaming omelet and eating it no problem.
"B-Bismuth?" Spike said in disbelief.
"Yeah? You want eggs Spike? I made 'em extra spicy for ya."
"More like smoldering."
"Can we forget about the eggs please? Bismuth, why do you look that? How do you even look like that?"
"Um...you mean my six pack? Yeah, all I did was exercise all night and they just appeared. Pretty cool right?"
"Yeah but, wait you said since last night? As in you didn't get any sleep?"
"Well I did but then I woke up in a pretty cramped crib, I could barely moved in it so I decided to get some fresh air and going out for an all night jog."
"It makes since that you woke up in a cramped crib because you're the size of a full grown stallion, and you can speak in clear sentences. I can't even figure out how that's even possible!" Twilight said nearly putting pieces of her mane out.
"Do you think it something to do with magic?" Spike asked.
"There's literally no other explanation. I'm just worried about what Shining Armor and Cadance thinks about this."
"What they don't know won't kill them."
Suddenly Spike burped up a column of fire and smoke leaving behind a scroll which he immediately opened up and read.
"Who's it from?"
"Cadance and Shining Armor, they'll be here by this afternoon."
"What!?!"
"Relax Twi, we still have plenty of time until then."
Suddenly there was a knock on the front castle door.
"Twilight, it's us Cadance and Shining."
"Scratch that, we don't have any time."
Twilight fainted, Spike quickly revived her by pouring the rest of his coffee of her.
"Spike! That was hot!"
There was a another knock.
"Twilight? Are you home?"
"We have no choice, we have to tell them."
Twilight opened the castle door slightly just enough so they could see her face.
"There you are Twilight, you really had us worried there for a second." Cadance sighed in relief.
"H-Hey, I thought you guys weren't supposed to be here until this afternoon."
"Well that was the plan, until Ms.Worrypants over here wanted to go as soon as possible." Shining sighed.
"Oh I'm sorry Shining, but you know how I get when I miss someone. Speaking of which I've been missing Bismuth all night, I need to see him. Where is he?"
"Um, he's inside of course. He's totally fine. Totally fine."
"That's great, um can we see him?"
"Oh sure, sure. Just uh, follow me."
Shining and Candance followed Twilight inside the castle, meanwhile Spike had re-entered the kitchen with a fire extinguisher in hand when he noticed Bismuth no longer there but a note was left on the stove.
"Went to go out and get more eggs, be back later. Bismuth.
"Uh-oh." Spike said right before he saw Twilight heading towards the kitchen, he waved his arms to warn her.
Twilight stopped dead in her tracks before she started blocking the doorway.
"Twilight what are you doing?" Shining asked as he tried looking past her until finally getting passed her only to see Spike in the kitchen.
"Twilight where's Bismuth?" Cadance asked sounding worried all over again.
"I-I...."
Cadance ran out the doorway shouting out Bismuth name with Shining Armor and Twilight running after her.
Meanwhile, at the PonyVille farmer's market:
Bismuth was browsing through the selection of fresh produce and other goods when a familiar blur of baby blue whizzed by past him with incredible speed.
"Rainbowdash!" he called as he ran after her excited to see a familiar face.
"Huh? Who's calling me?" she asked as she slowed down just enough for the stallion to catch up.
"Hey Rainbowdash!"
"Um, hey bud. Uh , do I know you from somewhere?" she asked scratching the back of her head.
"Of course, it was my birthday yesterday."
"It was? Sorry bro, I must've missed it."
"What do you mean? You were there."

"Actually Spike, there's a bit of a catch. Zecora said the bell could only be used once so we gotta make it count."
"Ah, yes of course. There's always a catch."
"Wait how do we know that the bell will work? I mean, don't get me wrong but all of our magic goes away as soon as he even gets near us." Shining Armor said.
Twilight looked down at the bell, it was true that there was no guarantee that this rusty heap of clay was going to do anything but it was their only hope at this point.
"We'll just have to rely on faith then."
"Uh, guys? I really think you should see this." Spike said pointing out at the horizon.
In the far distant blocking the sun with it's massive numbers was a biggest swarm of changelings ever seen slowly closing the distance between them and the outskirts of Canterlot. The royal guards quickly formed a line readying their horns before releasing a barrage of magical blasts at the incoming swarm shooting down several changelings but not enough to suppress them, the swarm flew over the wooden barricades before firing acid globs of goo at the guards who broke their line trying to avoid them as another wave of soldiers started charging towards the front lines to help. Hours passed as the fight raged on, magical beams and globs of acid were flying everywhere in every direction as more guards were arrived to the field and more changelings breached through the barricades after gnawing against them for a while. More hours have passed as nightfall was soon nearing, Twilight was watching from the throne room window along with everyone else except she noticed that the changelings were not really focusing all their efforts on the fight but on the barricades until it dawned on her that they were not the actual attack. But if they weren't, what was? This question was soon answered as the ground started shaking like an earthquake, but this was far worst. They gasped as they spotted a army of creatures far too horrible looking to describe let along exist in the first place marching towards Canterlot underneath a familiar sinister black cloud, Blackburn's dark laughter echoing through everyone's minds making their heads ache severely when suddenly entire roof of the castle was torn off as a violent black hurricane filled the sky firing hundreds of lighting bolts everywhere as he started materialize in midair.
"He's here! Twilight, I hope that bell works 'cuz it's now or never!" Rainbowdash yelled out of her aching head.
Twilight held the bell up towards Blackburn before she began ringing it. At first nothing happened as the room was filled with awkward silence as the idea of the bell not working started to fill her mind when suddenly a powerful white aura surrounded the bell before firing a massive beam.
"Ahhhhhhhh!" Blackburn screamed as he was blasted into oblivion and turned into a smoking pile of dust.

Nah, I'm just kidding. Fooled you though right? Yes I did.
Anyway while a beam did fire from the bell and hit Blackburn instead of him turning into dust something more "magical" happened as the black aura was forcefully leaving his body forming a massive cloud of sand like darkness leaving behind Bismuth still in the body of a giant stallion who laid on the floor out cold.
"Bismuth!" everyone cheered surrounding him as he woke up like he was taking a nap.
"Wh-Wha? Where I am? I just had the weirdest dream that I was leading an army of flying insects and some ugly looking monsters and-oh my Celestia it's all real."
"Glad to have you back bud." Rainbow said giving him a pat on the back as Cadance and Shining Armor was hugging him happy to see their child was safe and sound and that everything was okay now.
Well, let's not say that yet.
Behind them the cloud of darkness was shifting around wildly before reforming the same body all over again until Blackburn was standing once again only this time he was a bit bigger and stronger looking as his body seemed more....alive.
"After so long....my curse has FINALLY BEEN BROKEN! AFTER SO LONG.....I...AM...TRULY...ALIVE!"

"No, no this wasn't supposed to happen!" Twilight said in disbelief.
Blackburn simply turned to face her, an evil grin appearing on his face.
"THIS...THIS WAS ALWAYS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN!" he laughed evilly as the thunderclouds above raged on.
Sombra's revival, Bismuth's birth, and Blackburn's rise
Bismuth's sacrifice and Blackburn's lament
Thousands of Canterlot citizens including the princesses, the Mane 6, and Spike were then placed in the deep underneath the ground in Canterlot dungeons guarded by armed changeling brutes while they were chained to the ground in their individual cells. Any small shred of hope was lost at this point.
"C-Come on everypony, l-let's uh sing a song. Yeah! That will lighten up our spirits. You start us off Twi!" Pinkie pie said pulling out an accordion from her puffy pink mane.
"How about a song about how we failed?" Twilight said glumly.
"That's not very....uplifting."
Suddenly a changeling guard came by snatching the accordion away from the peppy pink pony before smashing it on the ground and stomping on it crushing Pinkie's heart to hundreds of tiny pieces, which in turn broke into much smaller pieces.
"Cheese Sandwich gave me that accordion." she whimpered much to the guard's annoyance.
"Yeah? Well you can spend the rest of your time here crying about it!" he said turning his back on her with a huff.
Bismuth watched this from his cell and couldn't help but feel bad for her. This all may not be exactly his fault but he wanted to do something, he felt the need to do something about all of this but had no idea what. Just then one of the changeling guards came by his cell.
"Lord Blackburn asks for your presence in the throne room."
Later, in the throne room:
A wedding like celebration was commencing as thousands of changelings and misshaped creatures sat in their seats as Blackburn stood just in front of his new throne as the throne room doors were suddenly pushed open with magic as Queen Chrysalis stood there dressed in a black wedding gown like dress but instead of a bouquet of flowers in her hands was a giant crown helmet made out of black obsidian shards with a single ruby jewel shard in the base of the forehead. She walked slowly and elegantly swaying her wide hips side to side holding the crown helmet high for everyone to marvel at, she soon made it to the stairs leading up to the throne before taking a knee and holding the crown as an offering. Blackburn walked down the steps and took a knee right in front of her allowing her to place the crown on top of his head, immediately two twin devil like horns shot out from the front of the crown glowing with red energy.
"I now deem you, Lord Blackburn." Chrysalis announced.
Every changeling and creature bowed in respect of their proud new overlord and leader when Bismuth was brought into the throne room by one of the guards before being thrown to the ground with a loud thud getting the attention of everyone in the room.
"I bring you the prisoner you asked for milord."
"Ah yes, the one known to the commoners as Bismuth. I must say, even though you technically had no hand in this I couldn't have done it without you."
"Uh, thanks?"
Everyone laughed.
"Wait, what I meant to say is...why did you do all this?"
Blackburn stopped laughing abruptly.
"Why? WHY!?! WHY DID I BRING THIS PATHETIC NATION TO IT'S KNEES!?! I merely accomplished something I left behind when I first fell in battle. The same battle that shaped all of history marking up to this very day. Many of my comrades and allies had fell before my eyes moments before I did, to this day I STILL feel their pain and sorrow. The moment I felt a blade pierce through me I realized something, that the world wasn't made to be fair. We are separated by those strong enough to conquer and those that are too weak to do anything. This is the true nature of the world."
"Listen, I may not have been on this earth long but from what I can tell there's much more to life than that."
"There is nothing more...in fact you weren't even meant to be here!"
"W-Wait what?"
"That fateful day you were created I was supposed to be in control but that damn stallion shot me before I had total control giving you an actual conscious. You were are just a mistake."
Hearing the explanation for his entire existent made him feel empty inside knowing that he was just the result of a curse gone wrong.
"But I guess that is a bit harsh to hear, therefore I am willing to cut you a deal." he said with the first form of sincerity in his voice.
"A deal? What kind of deal?"
"A seat of power in my new empire, simple is that."
The deal sounded rather perfect, to be granted power and rule all of Equestria. Yet memories of his parents, Twilight, Spike, Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbowdash, Pinkie pie, and Pinkie pie's accordion prevent him from taking the deal.
"I'm sorry, I just can't accept."
"....And I'm sorry, for thinking you were actually smart. Send him back to the dungeons."
That's when Bismuth noticed the iron sword mounted up against a marble column as a decoration and made a lunge for it, several changelings flew towards him as he landed far passed the sword and instead grabbing the discarded clay bell on the floor before aiming it at Blackburn who immediately laughed.
"You stupid pony! You do realize that only works once right?"
Bismuth ignored his taunt and threw the bell at him who merely swat it away and the bell flew high into the air hitting another marble column leaving a large crack on it, the crack slowly grew until the top half started leaning with Chrysalis standing underneath it. Blackburn noticed this and quickly pushed her out of the way just before the column fell on top of him with a cloud of dust, everyone gasped as the Blackburn pushed the large column off of him damaging his armor as well as his crown helmet just a bit.
"You.....ARE GONNA PAY FOR THAT!" he yelled as he lunged at Bismuth slamming his giant fist into his chest sending them both crashing down and creating a giant hole in the floor before landing in the room directly underneath where Bismuth did the same throwing a mighty blow sending Blackburn crashing against a nearby wall sending dust everywhere.
The fight went on going breaking each floor until finally hitting the underground dungeon flattening the two changeling guards into pancakes with Bismuth being pinned down and Blackburn holding him by the neck until his horn started glowing a white aura unleasing a powerful beam sending Blackburn up the hundred of floors until he hit the ceiling of the throne room and falling to the ground landing on top of even more changelings with Bismuth teleporting in front of him with his horn powering up for another attack. But before he could Blackburn pulled out a giant black crystal shard from his bare chest causing him to scream and pain.
"I...WILL NOT LOSE TO THE LIKES OF YOU!"
At first Bismuth thought this was a petty attempt at suicide when Blackburn crushed the giant shard in his hands releasing a tornado of smoke surrounding him as he began his final transformation growing armor like scales, wide scaly wings big enough to knock down the walls to the castle, a long thick scaly tail, a giant reptile like body. He became a giant dragon of ice cold darkness looking down at Bismuth with enraged eyes before belching a hurricane of black fire burning the ground around Bismuth's feet.
"THIS IS YOUR END PATHETIC HERO!" he snarled with fire spilling out from his mouth.
Bismuth simply stood there staring up at the dragon.
"Why don't you tremble? What hope could you possibly have left!?!"
"Because...I have with me the one thing that can still defeat you."
"SHOW ME THEN! SHOW ME THE INSTRUMENT OF MY ALLEGED DEFEAT!"
"Okay...*sigh* here it is."
Bismuth slowly extended his arm for Blackburn to see.
".....What is it? Is it invisible? How come I can't see anything?"
"Because....it's just my hand. I want you to take it."
"...You want me to take your hand?" Blackburn asked in confusion holding up his sharp claws.
"Not like that! I mean it as an act of friendship."
".......Fr-Friendship?" he said losing his intimidating voice for a moment.
"Yes."
"ELABORATE!"
"Okay okay! Just, look down there." Bismuth said pointing down at the last few ponies not placed in the dungeons.
They were scared, cold, and alone. A stallion and a mare even had a young foal no older than a newborn to look after. At that moment a flood of memories started rushing back to Blackburn, the same brief yet special childhood memories he shared with Bismuth making him come to the conclusion that he....was wrong.
"For so long, I've felt nothing. Nothing but pain and endless suffering for thousands of years trapped in an endless void of darkness asleep to the truth that now rest before my eyes.......Bismuth."
"Yeah?"
".....I would like to wake up now....please."
"Then take my hand."
Blackburn looked at his claws in confusion.
"Um, here. Just...let me in." Bismuth said as his horn glowed and he started levitating loser to the dragon's scaly chest before it opened up like a door revealing a portal of pure nothingness but he stepped inside anyway.
He drifted inside what felt like cold vacuum of space until finding a floating husk of a stone body with no details to speak of suspended in midair like he was, he quickly floated over to it before grabbing the figure's hand and holding it tightly before he hugged the figure. At first nothing happened but then the lifeless body started to move returning the hug and like that the cold vacuum of space was gifted with light filling up the cold empty feeling, the dragon's scales started to glow and gain the colors of the rainbow before unleashing a blast of healing light in all directions repairing the castle walls and all the ponies who were trapped underground were brought inside the throne room with a flash just in time to see the glowing dragon being bathed in a heavenly light before it opened up it's mouth letting a single pony out. That pony wasn't Bismuth but Blackburn except the once cold and distant giant of a stallion now had a lighter shade of a rich emerald coat and a light lavender shapeless cloud like mane/tail. Blackburn stood up and faced the crowd of ponies before looking down at his hands, it has been forever since he had last seen his true self he dropped to his knees as tears filled his eyes for at long last he could hear his very own heart beat and the angry voices of grief and misery in his head no longer bothering him anymore.
"I...feel now." he said before looking up at the multicolored dragon realizing he had left Bismuth still inside yet the dragon didn't seem angry at all.
"How does it feel? To be alive once again." Bismuth's voice could be heard coming from inside the dragon.
"It's wonderful, but what about you? You're trapped in there because of me."
"No Blackburn, this was my intention. You have nothing to apologize for."
"......Jupiter."
"Huh?"
"King Jupiter, that is my true name."
"Ah, well then. King Jupiter, since you have proven you have seen the error of your ways...I grant you pardon and your freedom.
"Thank you."
"But in return, you must take my place."
"Your place?"
"As the beloved adopted son of Cadnace and Shining Armor and prince of the Crystal Empire."
"This....I can do. But what about you? What you will do?"
"That is for me to find out for I have decided to leave Equestria to find my own path, but before I do...I think there's someone who really needs some love herself."
Chrysalis soon stepped forward from the crowd for she had seen everything and now knows what she wants, she walked up to King Jupiter and handed him his helmet crown that has long since fell off during battle. He looked down at the cracked form of headwear and immediately threw it over his shoulder before grabbing her by her arms and pulling her in for a kiss that lasted for a few seconds until he broke away.
"Thank you for everything Chrysalis, I bet you'll find somepony worth living the rest of your life with someday." he said before he tried to walk away to be stopped as she grabbed his arm.
"I already have." she said before pulling him in for another kiss.
Everyone in the throne room cheered, even the changelings and the grotesque looking creatures from Tartarus couldn't help but tear up the beautiful sight. That's when Discord appeared right next to dragon Bismuth.
"Awww, how heartbreakingly sweet. I don't suppose you do weddings eh Bismuth?"
Three days later:
After PonyVille and Canterlot had been restored to their former glory nearly everyone in Equestria showed up for the biggest wedding in the history of Canterlot as ponies, changelings, and unknown creatures alike sat in attendance as King Jupiter stood proudly next to Dragon Bismuth who doubled as not only his best stallion but as the official for the wedding. The throne room doors soon opened up revealing Chrysalis dressed in a fabulously prim and elegant white wedding gown with her long teal hair in a long French braid holding a bouquet of green and white roses as she was followed by the Mane 6 as well as Cadance all dressed in brides maid outfits made unique to specify each mare's style and cutie mark thanks to Rarity. Pretty angelic music styling's were made by the amazing piano player Deemo (look him up if you don't know) as Chrysalis walked up to the altar and joined hands with King Jupiter as Cadance stood next to Shining Armor.
"You sure you'll alright with this?" Shining armor said raising an eyebrow.
"Well to be completely honest, my mind is yelling no...but my heart is screaming yes."
"That's my girl."
"Mares, gentlecolts, changelings, and....uh, other creatures. We are gathered here today to rejoice at the union of these once lost souls down the path of much sought after path of righteousness leading their love and happiness guide them. Let us began with the rings."
"Got ya covered." Spike said happily holding up the pillow holding the rings for Chrysalis and Jupiter to collect.
"Thank you Spike." Chrysalis said before placing a kiss on the small dragon's forehead.
"Wow, you really have changed. I like the new you."
"As do I Spike, as do I."
The two placed their rings on each other before holding hands again.
"The path of righteousness is open, you may now kiss the bride."
Chrysalis and Jupiter passionately kissed as a flock of doves were released into the air and everyone cheered loudly.
"Well, that's that then. I guess I should be taking my leave now."
"You're leaving so soon? At least stay for some cake first." Chrysalis said.
"I would, I really would...but my path is out there somewhere. And it is up to me to find it for myself. Goodbye everypony." Bismuth said right before flapping his mighty wings and flying out the open window leaving a trail of light after him.
"Goodbye Bismuth!"
"We'll never forget you!"
"Visit us anytime! O-Or sooner even!"
"Goodbye everypony, let our paths one day cross again. Until then never forgot who you are!"
