Breaking at Tea

Fluttershy gave a sigh as she collapsed in exaustion onto her couch in the living room. She rubbed into the comfort of the couch, wishing she could stay forever as she hadn't had time to rest since she had breakfast that morning. First of all, feeding the animals was pretty tough on some days, and Angel made it specifically hard since he wouldn't share his nuts and berries with the other animals like he should have. Also, she had to clean her house since she was expecting a guest, who was coming any second now, much to her alarm as she realized.

Fluttershy slowly sat up and stood on the floor. With one last longing look to the couch, she headed to the kitchen to start preparing the tea for her Tuesday Tea with her guest. Fluttering her wings, she went to a high cabinet and opened it, and pulled out a kettle. She landed and started filling it with water. Fluttershy silently watched the water fill up. Once it was brimming to the top, she went to the stove and started the flames. Going back to the cabinet, she got out some green tea leaves and layed them in the kettle. She picked up the heavy kettle and put it on the stove.

Fluttershy walked across the kitchen and opened a cabinet and lifted out a basket of muffins she had baked with Pinkie the previous day that she had left over. Five were left, since Fluttershy decided to save some for the tea today. She set down the basket on the counter, and went into another cabinet and pulled out a container of sugar. Pulling open a drawer, she took out a spoon and put it with the sugar.

Fluttershy picked up all the items she had needed and flew out to the living room, and set the items down onto the coffee table by the couch Fluttershy had usually used at tea.

A knock on the door made Fluttershy's heart rate to increase. The thuds inh her chest continued to bang louder and louder as she trotted to the door with an excited pace. Discord was finally here. Fluttershy heard a loud whistle from the kitchen, telling her the tea was ready. Fluttershy sighed, smiling, and opened the door.

"Hello!" exclaimed Fluttershy. But, to her confusion, Discord wasn't there. Was she just pranked by some fillies and colts again, like one time a few months ago?

"Hello, my dear Fluttershy!" said Discord, as he flashed in front of her, which surprised hr.

"Discord!" snapped Fluttershy. "You know not to do that!" Discord groaned and rolled his eyes.

"Hey, lighten up," groaned Discord. "You need to take a joke sometimes." Fluttershy glared angrily at Discord.

"Sometimes doesn't mean every moment," retorted Fluttershy.

"I'm not here and pranking you every moment," replied Discord sassily. Fluttershy fluttered into the air and went into Discord's face, her hooves on her hips.

"Well, I guess tea is cancelled for today," said Fluttershy, and she turned her back to Discord, and was prepared to shut the door, much to her sadness.

"Wait, wait, wait!" cried out Discord. Fluttershy turned around, crossing her hooves "A prank is nothing to cancel our weekly tea over."

"Fine," huffed Fluttershy. "Say your sorry and I will let you in." Discord groaned. Fluttershy smirked, knowing she had him.

"Sorry," said Discord in a low, annoyed tone. "I can't believe what you have done to me. Now I have become a apologizing soft sissy." Fluttershy raised an eyebrow and gave Discord a timid look.

"At least that's better than the meanie you were," reminded Fluttershy truthfully. She cringed remembering her first encounter with Discord.

"Nngh, I suppose," replied Discord. Fluttershy smiled.

"Come in, the tea is ready!" said Fluttershy, as she moved to the side, letting Discord in. "I will get the tea. Just give me a moment to get it."

"Take your time, I have all the time in the world," said Discord, flashing in a clock for emphasis. Fluttershy gave another giggle and went to the kitchen, her eyes shining brightly. She hummed a melodic tune, and went to the stove, picking up the boiling tea. She went out into the living room, to the couch she and Discord were sitting, still humming. On the coffee table in front of her, Discord flashed in two teacups. Fluttershy poured the dark, hot drink into the cups.

"Would you like your usual ten teaspoons of sugar?" asked Fluttershy, smiling in amusement.

"Don't forget the chocolate milk!" replied Discord, flashing in some chocolate milk and pouring it into his cup. Fluttershy remembered when she gave Discord the idea on Hearths Warming when they ran out of cocoa and she added chocolate milk into tea instead.

"Okay, I can never forget that," said Fluttershy. She reached for the sugar container in front of her, and took the spoon out of it, mixing in the sugar. Fluttershy blew onto the drink, and handed it to Discord, who took it gratefully, and sipped it casually. Fluttershy picked up her own and added nothing. Nothing to her was better than plain, hot tea.

"So, anything happening in the 'Amazing Life of Fluttershy'?" asked Discord. Fluttershy scanned through what she heard if it had sarcasm, as she couldn't be sure.

"Well, nothing much," replied Fluttershy. "Just the usual taking care of my little friends and having visits from the others. Anything new for you?" Discord's eyes lit up, giving Fluttershy a hint something good was going on.

"Well, I have a confession to make, but I will tell you something smaller first," said Discord. Fluttershy tilted her head to the side, intrigued with whatever was so big.

"What is it, Discord?" asked Fluttershy.

"I told you, I will tell you after I say a few things!" huffed Discord.

"Discord..." Fluttershy's eyes got big. Unlucky for her, Discord turned away.

"I'm just going to start talking," groaned Discord. "So, I have a new home in the Canterlot Castle, instead of my pocket dimension, first of all."

"Is it forced or by your own will?" asked Fluttershy. "You loved your pocket dimension, and I hope you're not bored at the Castle where you can't do any of your chaos."

"I went there on my own accord," replied Discord. "I live with the love of my life now." Fluttershy tilted her head in confusion.

"What do you mean?" asked Fluttershy. Discord's face flushed, and he rubbed his arm with his lion paw.

"Well, you see," started Discord, and Fluttershy started feeling impatient. "Well..."

"Discord, you can tell me," said Fluttershy, giving Discord an assuring smile.

"Well, then, I better get it out," said Discord. "It's amazing, really."

"Then tell me," said Fluttershy. "I'm your friend, you can say anything you need to."

"I'm getting married to Princess Celestia!" exclaimed Discord giddily.

"W-W-What?" Fluttershy felt a feeling inside of her she hadn't felt in a long time since... Could it be? Suddenly, she felt suspicious. Discord once said he was going to marry Rainbow, but he didn't. Maybe it was another prank.

"I'm getting married to Princess Celestia," repeated Discord, grinning. Fluttershy crossed her hooves, giving him a disbelieving glare. "No, I'm serious! I actually am." Fluttershy felt something bang inside of her, and shatter. A tear formed in the corner of her eye.

"O-Oh," replied Fluttershy, her voice cracking slightly. "Well, that's.... nice." What was this feeling? Why wasn't she truly happy for her own friend?

"Nice?!" repeated Discord, a bit loudly. "It's amazing!"

"Yeah," agreed Fluttershy, softly. Discord grinned. Silence followed awkwardly. Fluttershy dragged her hoof across the top of the couch. Discord cleared his throat.

"So, want to know when our wedding is?" asked Discord.

"Of course," replied Fluttershy, smiling warmly.

"Well, it is next Tuesday at three," said Discord, and Fluttershy's smile wavered. "I'm sorry it's on our Tuesday Tea. Maybe we can reschedule it to next Friday or something."

"Friday is nice," replied Fluttershy. "Whatever time makes you feel comfortable." Fluttershy wished she didn't have to give up that day, but it was for Discord's happiness, and that was what Fluttershy wanted.

"And one last thing," said Discord.

"Yes?" asked Fluttershy, thinking this news would not hurt her anymore. Fluttershy did not understand why she was feeling the pain she felt.

"Will you be my best mare?" asked Discord.

"W-What?" The surprises kept on coming.

"Well, I would think you would love to be my best mare," explained Discord. "I have to start repaying you for being my first friend, and the one who reformed me. I would never have been in love with Celestia if you haven't." Fluttershy gave a weak smile.

"I'd love to be your best mare," said Fluttershy, a tear rolling down her face, but she forced a smile, to show it as a tear of joy. Discord grinned.

"My dear, thank you so much!" exclaimed Discord. "I can't wait for the wedding. But, it would be all thanks to you."  Fluttershy sighed inwardly. Fluttershy would have to find out why she was feeling so upset. Maybe Rarity could help? After all, Rarity always knew about how ponies were feeling. After all, her other friends couldn't be as much help, though Fluttershy hated to think like that as she loved her friends.

"So, Before the wedding, would you like to help me Thursday to find a suit for me?" asked Discord.

"Okay," replied Fluttershy.

"Thank you," said Discord. His eyes watered a bit. "You have no idea what this means to me." Discord suddenly gasped, and clutched his head. Fluttershy gasped and lunged forward to Discord.

"Discord! What's wrong?" asked Fluttershy, as she examined his head for any problems.

"I-I don't-nngh- know!" replied Discord. "I-I-I am s-suddenl-ly-ack- f-feeling a t-terr-r-ible m-migraine."

"Oh no!" exclaimed Fluttershy, and before she could go to the kitchen and grab a medicine for headaches, a scroll appeared in front of Discord. He looked at it, moaning in pain. He quickly handed it to Fluttershy.

"R-Read it to me," said Discord. Fluttershy took a minute to look at it.

"It says: Discord, Come back home quickly. It's time for your medicine, signed Celestia," read Fluttershy. She tilted her head. Did she know this was happening.

"Well, I gotta go!" said Discord quickly, and he disappeared, leaving a paper behind. Fluttershy picked it up.

"Sorry, see you Thursday," read Fluttershy, and she gave a small giggle. But, her laughter stopped, as her worries kicked in. Discord was on medicine now. Was something wrong with his health? Fluttershy sighed. Before she went out with Discord, she would talk to Rarity. Fluttershy would go tomorrow, but she remembered Rarity had gone to Manehatten and wouldn't be back until tomorrow night. Fluttershy sighed sadly, wondering why she felt so bad about Discord was getting married, and went to her room and layed in her soft bed. In moments, she drifted off into much needed sleep.
