Taking over an empire is hard. Surviving being blown up by a magical explosion is next to impossible. Pulling oneself back together, atom by atom, is also a very difficult task, especially when you re-materialise in the middle of a craggy landscape, miles away from where you started -- and as the opposite sex.

However, Queen Umbra, formerly King Sombra, can bounce back from anything, and likes to think she can do anything. Commanding unimaginably powerful and versatile shadow magic: child's play. Warping granite to one's will using nothing but one's own raw energy and mastery over the ancient art of earthbending: a trivial matter.

But dealing with a heat cycle is another matter entirely.

Used to her new body under normal circumstances, but unaccustomed to dealing with such things, Umbra enters heat for the first time since becoming a mare. With no slaves or servants at hand, she'll have to make do.

Besides, she's got an awful lot of free time to think things through, what with the whole lack of a kingdom to rule. And despite her fall from power, there are surely ways and means -- it all depends on who one knows, after all.
