Rainbow Dash pushed her front door open. After stepping inside, she closed it slowly and sighed softly. The interior of her house was mostly blue. The floor and the walls all shared the same shade of light blue. She nonchalantly walked toward her bedroom. As she walked, she didn’t feel any pressure on her legs. Her body was limp and numb. The exhaustion made her want to lay in bed and sleep for all eternity. She knew that was probably not going to happen.
After climbing into bed, without even bothering to cover herself with her white blanket, she merely closed her eyes and attempted to fall into slumber. Everything was silent, so silent, in fact, that Rainbow could only hear her own breathing. She decided to focus on her breathing in order to reach her goal faster. After few minutes of quietness, she groaned. Damn it.
She lifted the pillow and retrieved the book that was under it. After putting the pillow in its original place, she lay on her back and opened the book. She started reading to herself:
“Unscrupulous was the only word that could describe him. All she ever strived for was to get a hold of that golden dagger and destroy it. No being should ever be able to contain such immense power. That dagger was going to bring chaos and destruction to the world, she knew it. Daring Do got on her legs once more. She was not about to give up on her goal. While she struggled to remain conscious despite the pain she was feeling throughout her body, the gray stallion smirked and-“
This used to work. Now it doesnt, it just bored me to death. She tossed the book to her right, making it land on the floor. A few pages got crumpled as a consequence. Rainbow Dash blinked slowly, and sighed deeply once more. Why can’t I just relax for a moment? What is wrong with me? I am so sick of feeling like this, UGH!
Her entire body remained numb as she stared blankly at the ceiling. Inactivity was something her body was not used to. Yet, her mind was too tired to actually do something besides laying in bed. This internal conflict was making her uncomfortable. When did I start feeling this way? I need to make it stop, it’s driving me insane!
Rainbow stopped herself for a moment and moved her head to the left, to look at the clock that was on the kitchen table. It was six p.m. The sun was about to set. She could see the light in the house getting dimmer. She frowned and curled up absentmindedly. I wish I could fall asleep and never wake up...
Her eyes closed for a few seconds. When she opened them, she realised what she was doing. She immediately looked back and grasped the kitchen clock from the wooden table. It was half past four a.m. Rainbow Dash bit her lower lip and shook her head firmly. This is insane. I’m not going to do it. I swear I will never do it. I just need to chill out. Maybe if I go outside, get some air or something I will feel better.
She closed the drawer swiftly and trotted towards the window next to the front door. It was still cold and dark outside. After observing the sky for a moment, she pushed the door open and walked outside. She was used to this kind of weather, not necessarily too cold, but not comfortable either. Maybe some ponies would rather stay home to get warmth, but she was actually quite fond of this temperature. For the first time in some months, her body didn’t feel numb at all. The fresh morning wind blowing her mane felt actually quite nice to her.
This is better. At least now I feel more alive. Now, everypony’s asleep at this hour. Where should I go? What can I do? Sleep is obviously out of question today. Now I need to find something to entertain myself with. Well, I think I can pay a visit to AJ, since she’s the one who wakes up super early. Yeah, that’ll be nice.
