Luna is Eats Some Ice Cream

Jess laid in bed, waiting for sleepiness to take over.

Too bad it didn't.

And one would think that having a literal goddess of night right in your house would help.

Again, wrong.

The 'goddess' was Princess Luna, and she and Jess didn't really meet on good standards.  I mean, how would you react if a unknown creature popped into your shower as you were taking a bath? not very pleasant, right? However, Jess managed to hear Luna out, before any of them could get hurt.

Jess' stomach growled softly, and she grimaced. Putting on her night slippers, she walked out of her room and into her kitchen, looking for anything to drown that hunger. But as she tip-toed down the hallway, she saw a light appear from the kitchen; probably from her fridge. Again, tip-toeing, to the kitchen, she found Princess Luna eating some cake.

Jess turned on the light, frightening Luna in the process. "Couldn't sleep Luna?" she asked, reaching for the fridge as well.

Luna nodded. "Yes. I don't know why, but yes. You too?"

Jess sighed. "Yep, and I though having you in the house was going to help me," she chuckled.

"I do not think my presence helps anyone sleep." Luna smiled. "If anything, it would be my renderings of night."

As Jess continued to dig for something, she asked, "So what has you up?"

"It is nothing. I was just thinking... about some things..." Luna replied.

"Your home?"

"Y-yes. How did you know?"

"When ever someone- or in your case, somepony- says 'I was thinking about things', you can be sure they're thinking of home, am I right?"

"I suppose you're not wrong about that..."

"So," hauling out a tub of ice cream balls, or rather, mochi ice cream, she continued, "Tell me. what's going on in your regal head of yours?"

Luna slightly smiled at the nickname. "I was thinking about my sister.." she said, using her magic to pick a lime green mochi.

"Celestia? The sun one?"

"Yes.. I'm leaving responsibilities to her again,"

"What was the first time?"

"I-" she paused, wondering whether or not it would be fine to tell Jess about Nightmare Moon. Sighing, she pressed on. "Back then, we would rule over our land, Equestria, together. But... I became envious that my older sister got all the spotlight for raising the sun, but I didn't get any for raising the moon. Ponies would frolic around in the sun, but sleep at night. It was common sense sure, but... it made me bitter. Angry, so angry I stopped raising the moon. That's when she broke out.

"Nightmare Moon."

"I threatened to put eternal night over them so they could see me, but it just made them scared. I loved it though. Soon, my older sister had to summon the Elements of Harmony to save me, and banished my to the moon for a thousand years. During those years, my sister had to raise both the sun and the moon, putting a great stress on her. Only did I return and the Elements that I was able to raise the moon again, relieving my sister.

"But, now that I have disappeared without a trace, my sister will have to raise and lower the sun and moon, putting great stress over her again. I... I don't want to worry my older sister like that again." Luna sighed.

Jess took all this in slowly, while eating the ice cream. "But that's what older sisters do," she whispered.

"What?"

"Celestia worries about you because your her little sister. When she banished you to the moon, she was probably crying soon after, devastated that she had to do such a thing. However... I think she did it to protect you."

"I see.." Luna said, closing her eyes.

"It's cliche, but it's the truth," Jess smiled, and gasped slightly. "Luna, aren't you going to eat that ice cream?"

"This one..?" she said, tossing the mochi ice cream ball she had picked up earlier. "Ice cream..?"

"Yeah, it's a special type if ice cream. Take a bite."

Looking at it curiously, Luna took a small bite, taking the skin and some of the filling inside. Soon after, sparks came out of her horn as she chewed slowly.

"Luna? Are you ok?!"

A few moments later, she swallowed, and gasped, "So sweet!! The creamy filling, and the texture!" Her face went near ecstasy, as she took more small bites of the ball.

Jess nervously grinned. "I've got some more here, if you would like," she said, offering the tub to her.

"Ah!" breathed Luna as she got another one. "So plushy! Whoever created this is a genius! Say, what are these?"

"Mochi ice cream. They use mochi to surround the ice cream inside," Jess answered while Luna took two more out.

"Very clever!"

"Hey, if you eat too much, you're going to have a stomach ache-"

"Nothing much for my magic!" Luna persisted, now throwing more of the said things into her gaping maw.

Jess sighed, and smiled. "I guess there's no stopping you..."

The toilet flushed as Luna wandered out tiredly.

"I told you," Jess giggled.

"Quiet," said Luna pouted.
