//-------------------------------------------------------// The Solar and Lunar war: How things came to be -by abronyshipnerd- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// How things came to be //-------------------------------------------------------// How things came to be How things came to be. I guess I should start at the beginning. 2 years ago, the 2 rulers of Equestria ruled in peace and harmony. Life was great, everyone was happy and friendship was everywhere like dandelions in a green field. Equestria wasn't perfect. But the citizens always found a way to overcome their problems. Or at least, most of them did… It was what had rekindled the feud between the 2 co-rulers of equestria. It had been a secret for a time, Princess Luna had wanted to directly intervene when King Sombra and the Crystal Empire returned. She cared about her subjects, and had wanted to attack and end Sombra’s reign right then and there, like she and her sister had done all those years ago. Despite them both no longer being connected to the elements of harmony, she was more than willing to bear arms for her subjects. But her elder sister, Celestia, denied her. Instead of putting trust in her sister, the princess of the sun put her trust in a unicorn mare named Twilight Sparkle. Luna knew that this ‘Twilight Sparkle’ did have something special, but Twilight was still paranoid, young, a unicorn not alicorn, and paranoid. Luna later found out that Twilight had almost failed her task 3 times, one time was so close that Sombra had almost been able to reach out and grab the crystal heart. The one thing that could save the empire, and it was that close to falling into the hooves of the most evil creature in existence. It wasn't long after the return of the Empire that Luna began to question her sister more and more. They began to drift apart, seeing each other less and less. Eventually it got so bad that the only times they would see each other was when they rose and lowered the sun and moon. They weren't even eating together anymore. Luna also began wondering if her sister was fit to rule. Some decisions Celestia made did not seem to benefit Equestria even in the slightest. It wasn't just when the country was in danger, it was the small things, when in court, or when political decisions had to be made. Curious, Luna began to ask a portion of the ponies that had attended court if they completely agreed. She was shocked at the results. The majority of those she asked actually did not fully agree to some of Celestia’s choices. These ponies however would never dare to question her. Some in fear, others in respect, some both. But there was question. A lot of question. Luna realized something that could tear the nation to pieces. Eventually someone would get bold enough to question Celestia. Luna knew if that happened, that pony could be in a lot of trouble. If he got in trouble because of that, it could have one of 2 efects. A: it would make everyone fear Celestia so they would never question her again. Or B: the ponies would be so scared they would leave Equestria, forever. Both could cause reigns of terror, or pure upheaval across the world. Luna felt she wouldn't be able to live with herself if that ever happened, so she made a decision with the best of intentions. But the outcome was not what she expected. 3 weeks before the war Canterlot Luna opened the door to the royal throne room where Princess Celestia was sitting. Probably doing paperwork like she usually did during this time of day. As Luna walked into the room, her sister glanced up at her for a moment, before resuming her paperwork without a second thought or even a simple ‘hello’. Luna stopped before her sister’s throne, cleared her throat, and simply said, “News from the south east.” Celestia paused for a moment, glanced at Luna again, then resumed while saying “Can’t this wait until after I finish my work Luna?” “This can not I’m afraid.” Celestia gave a light frustrated sigh. “Very well. What is this ‘important’ news you wish to talk about?” Luna took a deep breath, what she said next would determine the fate of Equestria and its subjects. “We are leaving.” That got Celestia’s attention. “What do you mean you're leaving?” “No, not just me.” Celestia was now genuinely confused. Luna continued before she could be questioned. “Recently I started asking random ponies if they agreed with your decisions. Many did not. Those that wish to secede have already moved to the southeast. Those that want to stay under your rule have left for the north west.” And you asked these ponies how?” “I asked them in their dreams. Every pony besides the ones here in Canterlot have been visited by me, and together we made a choice-” “You're not seceding Luna, no one is. I won't allow it.” After this was said, Celestia turned back to her paperwork nonchalantly. Luna took a deep, frustrated breath, and stated a fact that really got her sister’s attention. “It's not your choice. The ponies have made their decision. We are leaving Equestria, and you can't stop us.” The silence in the room was defining. Celestia stared at her sister, Luna had a firm look on her face. This really was happening. The princess of the sun could not believe what was transpiring right in front of her. A look of anger plastered itself on her face, with an edge in her tone said “And you never talked to me about this?” “You wouldn't have listened to me anyway. “ “I would listen to something like this.” “You didn't listen to me a thousand years ago. Why would you listen to me now?” “I do listen to what you say, your banishment taught me to do just that.” “Did it? Then what about our people? Have any of them, no, anyone at all ever questioned you since I was banished?” Celestia opened her mouth to snap out several times when one of her subjects questioned her. No matter how hard she tried however, she couldn't think up a single time someone had in the past thousand years. “I’ll take your confused/deep in thought face of confusion as a no.” With that, Luna turned and walked out the door. But not before Celestia could give one final message to her sister. “You step out that door you better never come back.” Luna paused for a second, looked at one of the open doors she was about to walk through, then continued out the door, slamming it shut behind her. It wasn't long after that that the cities that were now under Luna's rule lowered their Equestrian flags and raised a new flag. The flag of the Lunar Republic. https://camo.derpicdn.net/9d815e1c904515bc7be8688e8dc9683b2f5596ad?url=https%3A%2F%2Fimages.gamurs.com%2Fteam%2Favatar%2F593f8b49-171a-4328-9e61-90ff98f7749f.png Celestia was enraged. She became so angry at her sister, she ordered all Equestrian flags to be brought down and burned. She created her own seal, put that up in the previous flags’ place. The Solar Empire was born. https://camo.derpicdn.net/21f78a94c6de0a8fd92df3d258ac2d8231f75f53?url=http%3A%2F%2Fvignette1.wikia.nocookie.net%2Fmlp%2Fimages%2F1%2F19%2FSolar_Empire.png%2Frevision%2Flatest%3Fcb%3D20130326023104 Luna knew the path Celestia was taking would lead to only one thing. War. Knowing what was coming, Luna began preparations. Gathering all the military might that could be mustered on her side, she and her subjects prepared for battle. Even now, a month after the end of the war, I, Scootaloo, can still remember each detail vividly of my time in the Shadow Bolts. Just as my friend Applebloom became part of the ground forces in the Solar Empire. And Sweetie Belle a founder of the Peace Corps. We each have a story to tell, an account of our memories of a pointless war. One we will all share with you dear reader. Author's Note I'm planing on making this a series of novels. If I can get enough support and ideas from you guys in the comments. I'm first going to do Scootaloo, then Applebloom, and lastly Sweetie Belle. Btw this is my first story on Fimfiction. What do you think? Edit: should the stories be in first or third person? Please vote, won't continue with stories until I get a responce.
