//-------------------------------------------------------// La Vie En Rose. -by Cookie Crumbles- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Is This Just A Dream? //-------------------------------------------------------// Is This Just A Dream? The sun slowly rose high within the sky, greeting the world with a brand new day. Warmth basking everything once covered within freezing shadows, bringing with it hope and promise. I yawned aloud stretching my slender arms high above my head, violet colored hues glancing across my room. Everything was set up nice and tidy, just the way I liked everything dazzling and in a certain place. Brushing long auburn locks away from my face with a delicate hand, I slid out of bed and onto my feet with a lazy yawn escaping my lips. Everything felt nice and warm. So cozy. “I’m talking to YOU! Ya freak of nature!!!” I could feel a sharp pain across the back of my head as I winced in place, running my hand through my hair slowly. Yet as soon as the echo of a headache came it was gone. With uneasy steps I managed to get over to my dresser to make sure I was ok, violet eyes gazed to the mirror before me only to widen in shock. The glass was shattered but still whole, simply cracked beyond repair. No matter how deeply I searched for my reflection. She could not be found. “Need to tell Aria not to keep me up so long with that darn music channel of her’s.” I groaned under my breath gently as I swayed hips, walking to the door and exiting the room in a daze. Snow covered everything around us like a freezing blanket, Aria sat in a large pile of fresh powder shiver as teeth chattered aloud. She gazed towards me in silence, her lips starting to turn blue from the cold. I wanted her to say something, anything so I could know she was ok. “Pass the Oj Red.” Aria rolled her eyes at the kitchen table. Slumped over in a defiant arch as her eyes lifted locking with mine. I sighed looking away as my hand extended down reaching for the broken bottle before me, hands dripping with fresh blood. Softly I grasped the pitcher of Oj in my hand lifting it slowly as I placed it closer to my friend before me. “About time slowpoke.” Aria smirked swiftly, saying her own type of thank you. “Where is Sonata?” I asked my heart filled with a slight sense of worry, though I’d never admit to it. “You were supposed to protect her!!” Aria snapped to me voice filled with hate as she lifted up from the snow around her. “Sonata.” I looked down to the pool of blood below me. It was still warm and fresh. “I said WAKE UP!!!” I held to my head again, the world around me simply fading in and out of view. The table filled with food switching to a ruined one as rats scurried across the surface. I felt myself stumble across the tiled floor or maybe it was a snow covered one? “Yes Adagio?” Sonata spoke up from the kitchen as the headache began to fade away once more. I caught my balance as I quickly rushed to the kitchen door, the scent of frying bacon and eggs filling the air. The sweet scent of pancakes wafting across my nose. My hand pushed the door open hard as I could see Sonata before me a smile across her lips, eyes filled with happiness and optimism. “Don’t be afraid…” She spoke through her smile, holding to her side as blood oozed out from between her fingers. “Sonata...I...I.” I wanted to tell her everything yet how could I the room was empty, filled with just a cold chill and old destroyed boxes. “I said LOOK AT ME!” I quickly spun around from the sudden noise, my foot sliding across the ice on the floor before I came crashing down hard. The back of my head smacking the patch of ice on the floor with a loud pop, echoing around me much like a gunshot. I could only stare upward in a daze, my world spinning out of control as a shadow of a woman stepped forward. I tried to make her out but couldn't. The world would not stop spinning. “That’s a good girl. Stay down where you belong.” The voice hissed wickedly down to me. “Where is…” Her voice slowly faded away as I closed my eyes, I felt so tired. “Adagio!!! Wake up!!” I gasped for air as I swung up to my feet from the snow covered ground. Shivering from top to bottom I pulled down on my torn purple hoodie, not that it did much to protect me from the cold. Snow fell from high in the sky as my eyes came back into focus, gazing forward I could see Aria tapping her foot atop the sidewalk ahead from me. “You coming or not!?- If we lose daylight today we will have to spend the night in the alley again, I for one would love to skip that.” Aria grumbled aloud as she stomped off out of view. Looking around to the alley I was standing in I groaned, busted old boxes scattered everywhere and a torn blanket sat atop the snow. I can'’t believe we even made it through the night, it being so cold. Was it all just a nightmare? I squinted softly as I looked to the bright sun in the sky, it must have. Then why do I still have such a headache? Shaking off the feeling something was not quite right, I made my way out of the alley. Following the sounds of my burdens waiting for me. I guess in some way they were my friends. Even without our power. We decided to stay together. Could be we have grown used to each other. Or that I knew if i left them, those two would most likely be whisked away with the snow. As i said they were my burdens. And I always protected what belonged to me.
