Richard and Rarity
Chapter 19
Previous ChapterNext ChapterIt has been months for Rarity since Richard left Equestria...
“I’m so fat!” Rarity whined looked at herself in the mirror.
“Maybe you should cut down on the hayburgers,” Twilight suggested.
“But I can’t help it, I’m always hungry,” Rarity complained trying to find a dress that would fit her.
“Ever since Richard left, ya haven’t been yerself,” Applejack said digging herself out of a pile of clothes.
“That must be it! I’m eating to fill in my emptiness,” Rarity said trying to rationalize her condition.
“Muffin?” Pinkie said offering a white muffin with blue icing and multicolored sprinkles.
Rarity tried to resist but Pinkie kept teasing her with it until she started to chase her around her house.
“You know the last time I saw somepony like this, was when Mrs. Cake was pregnant,” Pinkie said and then noticed that Rarity stopped chasing her.
“I think, I need to sit down,” Rarity said feeling dizzy.
“Maybe you should see Dr. Horse just in case,” Twilight suggested.
“But it can’t be…” She looked at her friends worried.
“Someone has been naughty,” Rainbow said with a smirk but got bonked by Applejack. “Ouch!” She said rubbing her head.
“I’ll walk you to the office Rarity,” Fluttershy said in a gentle voice.
*Beep beep beep* Richard awoke to the sound of his alarm clock, he rolled over and pressed a button on the clock silencing the alarm.
With a yawn, he slowly sat up on the side of the bed, looked at his hands and wiggled his fingers. Discord changed him back to human as promised. Twilight told him that she was going to work on the mirror and try to resolve the time dilation issue. Rarity cried and promised to visit him often, that was a month ago, so in the meantime it was business as usual, work, eat, sleep and repeat.
“Meow,” The cat said as it brushed its body against his leg.
“Ginger, how’s my favorite cat?” He said, reaching down to pet her.
After taking a shower, he got dressed and had his breakfast. Then put on his winter jacket, boots, toque and mitts before opening the front door. He headed back to work for the day, leaving the comfort of his house behind.
Not longer after that, the mirror in the spare bedroom started to glow. Bags of luggage popped out of the mirror one by one landing on the floor until there was a small mountain. Rarity then stepped through the mirror into the bedroom, she was wearing a light purple dress mixed with layers of light blue and a pink flounce.
“Richard I’m back!” She called out but didn’t get an answer.
Another pony stepped out of the mirror after her, it was an older pink colored unicorn with blue eyes and a bouffant style mane that was light purple with gray streaks and matching tail. She was wearing an orange blouse with white pants.
“Rarity please, don’t strain yourself, let me help with your bags,” Cookie Crumbles said as her horn glowed picking up all the bags off the floor.
“Richard!” She called again but didn’t get an answer. “I don’t think he is home right now, mom please, I can carry my bags,” Rarity said looking back.
“Nonsense, let your mother help you,” Cookie insisted.
“This way mom,” She said, deciding not to argue.
Rarity walked into the large bedroom and immediately picked up Richard's smell. She looked around and noticing that it was a mess, her horn glowed and she started to make clean up.
“MEOW!” The cat cried out from the hallway looking up at Cookie and then ran away.
“This place is infested with vermin,” She said looking around.
“Mom that was Richard’s pet cat, she is harmless,” Rarity said as she finished making the bed.
“I’m looking forward to giving him a lecture for leaving you in this state,” Cookie walked into the bedroom and dropped the bags on the bed.
“Mom, please let me handle this,” Rarity said feeling stressed.
“And if he tries to run, I’m going to tie him up, and bring him back to Equestria,” Mom said in a stern voice.
“Yes, Mother,” Rarity rubbed her temples, trying to stay calm.
That evening after work Richard returned home, with a yawn, he opened the front door and walked into his house. He noticed that the light was on in the kitchen as he removed his winter jacket and boots.
“Richard your home!” Rarity called out as she walked out of the kitchen dress in a pink and purple apron.
She ran to the front entrance and stood up to hug him. Richard was speechless and hugged her back, she looked disappointed, but he got the message and bent down to kiss her. Richard then noticed that her belly looked bigger than last time he saw her.
“What a surprise when did you get here?” He asked her.
“This morning, and not a moment too soon, your house really needed a good cleaning.” Rarity said pointing at him.
“Ahem!” Cookie cleared her throat and clopping her hooves to get their attention.
“Richard this is my mother Cookie Crumbles,” She said introducing her.
“Nice to meet you,” Richard said nervously noticing they way she was looking at him.
“So this is the HU-MON who left my daughter with a bun in the ov… Mmmfmm,” Cookie tried to say but was cut off when her blue apron was lifted over her mouth.
“Mom, please!” Rarity pleaded as her horn glowed.
Richard scratched his head, confused and looked and Rarity who looked back with a big fake smile. Cookie’s horn glowed as she pushed her apron down looking annoyed.
“Dinner's ready,” She said leading him to the kitchen table.
The tablecloth was a light green with yellow ribbons around the edges, there was a vase in the middle with a random assortment of flowers. The meal prepared was a vegetarian delight with salad, beans, olives, tomatoes, and potatoes.
“Wow, you have been busy,” Richard commented though he really wanted a steak.
“Actually, my mother did most of the work,” Rarity said and sat down next to him.
“That's right, she needs to take it easy and eat well,” Cookie said as she sat down looking at them both.
“Well then compliments to the chef,” He raised his glass to Cookie and drank from it.
During the rest of the meal, there was some ideal chat about what was going on the Equestria.
“Tell me more about yourself Richard?” Cookie asked him.
“I was born in Canada, but my parents moved to Pennsylvania when I was two years old. Went to Youngsville Elementary and then Fairview High after that I tried college but didn’t make it past the second year…” Richard was explaining his unremarkable life.
“What you are doing now?” Cookie interrupted him.
“I work at a department store in sales and service... Rarity let me help with the dishes,” He said and stood up.
“It’s quite alright dear,” Rarity said.
“Come on, move over, I got this,” Richard gently bumped her aside.
Rarity leaned against him as he washed the dishes and looked back noticing that her mother was smiling.
That evening Rarity sat down on the couch next to Richard and cuddled up.
“Richard we need to talk,” Rarity said, taking a deep breath.
“Sure, what’s up?” He said, caressing her mane.
“I’ll be in the bedroom if you need me,” Cookie said and left them alone.
Rarity swallowed hard as horn glowed removing her dress revealing her swollen belly. At first he thought she was coming onto him and been eating a lot.
“After you left Equestria, I started to think that maybe, it would be best that I don't see you again,” She said in a sad voice.
“Wait a minute, did you come all this way to break up with me?” Richard asked sounding upset.
“No, let me finish, then this happened,” Rarity said and touched her belly with her hoof. “So I went to see the doctor and that's when I found out that I was pregnant,” She said looking at him.
“Pr, pre, pregnant, as in with child, who, who is the father?” He said feeling light headed.
“It’s you, dear, there is no one else,” She said looking in his eyes.
“That’s impossible your a pony and I am a human,” Richard said, trying to think of an explanation.
“Nothing is impossible, after all, I am a magic unicorn pony from Equestria,” Rarity said as her eye’s glowed the same color as her horn.
He reached over and touched her belly that was covered with soft white fur with his hands feeling. Richard felt a kick and looked up at Rarity who looked back at him with a gentle smile.
“We're going to have a baby,” He said.
Later on, Cookie came out of the bedroom to check, she found Richard laid his head on Rarity's lap with his ear against her belly.
“You can put the rope away Mom,” Rarity said when she saw her.
Cookie turned around and headed back into the hallway, a yellow glowing bundle of rope followed her.
“Do you know if it’s going to be a girl or a boy?” Richard said, looking up at her.
“I don’t know if it is going to be a pony,” She said, looking worried.
