Luna looks at the night sky that she created so many years ago. She was about to take flight when she heard someone knocking on her door.
“Come in,” she said calmly.
As the door open, Celestia entered her sister's room.
“Hey Lulu, how are you feeling?” she asked with a smile.
“I'm doing fine, Tia. I was enjoying the view here,” she responds.
Celestia walks to the balcony next to her sister, looking at the night sky.
“You you always did an amazing job with the night sky. Better then I ever could,” she told her.
“Thank you, sis. Was there a reason for you to come here?” Luna asked in curiosity.
“I wanted to check how my sister is doing on the night before her birthday,” she responded.
It is true, tomorrow was Luna's birthday. She was a bit nervous, but she knows that she'll have some fun. Not only with her sister, but with someone else.
“Don't worry about me, sis. I know I'll have fun with you,” she said.
“Glad to know. Well, I need to go. I hope you enjoys your night,” she said, walking towards the door.
“Alright. Good night, Tia,” she said.
“Good night,” she said closing the door behind her.
She smiles and started to walk towards the balcony again and open her wings. She started to fly towards a secret garden. The secret garden was in the Royal Garden, but only a few ponies knew about it. She went there to meet someone special.
You were in the center of the Secret Garden, waiting for someone special. You prepared a picnic for the both of you, but until she come you walk towards the river that was streaming nearby. You look at your reflexion.
You saw your black and white fur that splits exactly in the middle of your face and body, splitting your wings the same way, one black and one white. You're a bit of a taboo pony, being part bat-pony from your father's side, not only that, you can also control some magic from your mother's side, even if being a pegasus.
You may be a very odd pony, but you don't think that way. You see yourself unique rather that weird. And you're not the only one who things the same way.
“Hi Mirror,” said a gentle and elegant voice behind you.
You turn around to face the Princess of the Night herself.
“Greetings, Luna,” you told her.
“It's nice to see you again, Mirror. Sorry that it took a while, my sister came for a little visit,” she explained.
“It's okay, Luna. At least you're here now,” you respond.
“I see you have prepared a picnic,” she said, noticing the basket and the blanket on the ground.
“Yeah, I though it would be nice to celebrate your birthday now, since I'm not able to join you tomorrow,” you told her.
“Why thank you, Mirror. And thank you for understanding about not telling my sister about us,” she said, approaching you to the picnic carpet.
“You're welcome. I hope you'll enjoy the food. I prepared it all myself,” you told her, getting the food out of the basket.
You used your magic to pull out two plates for Luna and for yourself and the plates with food. There was a fruit salad, some daffodils sandwiches, different choices for beverages and a cake. Both of you were enjoying it, until you were about to drink from your glass and something hit it, making a soft sound since the glasses was made of crystal.
Luna perks her ears up as she heard the sound from the crystal glass. You looked to the glass with a very confused look, until Luna started to laugh.
“What's funny?” you asked her.
“It looks like that your fangs has finally appeared,” she said, pointing to them.
You touched your fangs and then look to the sky. The moon was about to hit the highest point, indicating that it's close to midnight.
“That would explain it. It's close to midnight,” you say out loud.
“That usually the time that your body usually change, correct?” she asks.
“That's correct,” you told her, blinking a few times.
She was surprised when after you blinked, it turned into similar eyes of that the Bat-ponies usually has. The last thing that changed was your wings. It started to fall off and disappeared, turning your wings into bat wings.
“There is my bat-pony,” she said as your little transformation was complete.
“I hope I didn't toke your appetite away for dessert,” you said.
“No, don't worry about that,” she respond.
You look at the basket and started to lift the birthday cake for Luna with your magic. The cake was decorated in a dark blue frosting with some constellations drawn on it.
“Oh wow,” she said, “That looks beautiful.”
“Thank you, sweetheart,” you responded.
After the dessert, both of you lay down and watch the starry sky.
“Mirror,” she started.
“Yes, Luna?”
“I'm glad that I met you,” she respond.
“I could say the same,” you respond with a smile.
Both of you look back at the night sky, until you remember that you had a little present for your princess.
“Luna, I got something for you,” you told her as you started to levitate the present from the basket.
You brought the present in front of Luna and she used her magic to open it gently. What she saw took her breath away. There was a necklace with a moon pendant made of diamond and platinum. It was the most expansive present you ever bought, but it was worth every bit.
“Mirror, it's beautiful,” she finally managed to say.
“Just like you,” you said to her and she blushes. “May I?”
“You may,” she respond.
You grab the necklace with your magic and slowly put it around Luna's neck.
“Mirror, thank you. For everything you've given to me,” she said.
“It was my honor,” you respond.
“Mirror, I'm sorry but I need to return to the castle, but I have one request for you,” she said.
“Of course. What do you request of me?” you asked her curiously.
“I wish for you to come to my party tomorrow evening,” she said.
“I'll try to come. I'm not a royalty, but I'll try,” you responded.
“Thank you, Mirror. I wish you a good night,” she said before taking flight.
“Good night and a happy birthday,” you said, flying closer to her and giving her a kiss on her cheek.
She started to blush before she quickly fly away. That's a thing that you always liked about her, she's so shy when it comes to kissing. After the kiss, you started to fly back towards your home. When you enter your home and started to think of a way to enter the castle. Then you remember that your father is a Royal Guard for princess Luna. You know that your father can get you inside the castle with now problem.
So you have a plan to enter the castle, you a special suit in your drawer, so you're prepared for the party tomorrow.
The party is about to start and all the guest are waiting for Luna. Celestia is about to check on her sister, when she noticed that the door was open.
“Luna, are you there?” she ask, entering her room.
“I am, sis,” Luna respond, wearing her dress.
“Are you nervous for your birthday?” Celestia asked, approaching her sister.
“A little bit,” she admitted.
“Well, no need to worry. There are ponies that you're very familiar with, like Twilight and her friends,” she said.
“Thanks for letting me know. I'll be down in a minute,” she said, looking down at the balcony one last time.
“Okay then, sis,” she said.
Luna saw that Celestia had left the room. She went to her nightstand and grab her necklace. She admire it for a moment before putting around neck. She look at herself in the mirror and then started to walk towards her sister and her guests.
“Alright, this way, Mirror,” said your father, leading you around the different corridors of the castle.
“Okay,” you said, following him.
“You really care about this mare, don't you?” he asked.
“Yes, I do. And in a way, so do you,” you responded.
“Oh, who is this mare then?” he asked in curiosity.
“Luna.”
Your father stopped in his track, not believing the name that just left your mouth.
“You're kidding, right?” he asked.
“No, I'm not,” you respond.
He was speechless. He shook his head as he continued his way through the corridor.
Luna arrived at the room where the party was prepared. As she saw everyone in the room everyone screamed “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”
She celebrated with Twilight, her friends and her sister, but it wasn't long before they noticed the necklace that she was wearing.
“Wow, that looks beautiful, princess,” said Twilight.
“Thank you, Twilight. A special friend of mine gave it to me,” she said.
“Oh? Is it somepony we know of?” asked Celestia.
“No, I doubt it,” she respond.
“Is he going to make an appearance tonight?” asked Rarity.
“I'm not sure, but I hope so,” she said with a smile.
She looked at the clock and saw that it was nearing midnight and she knew if you were in the castle, you'd change any moment into your bat form.
You were following your father towards the garden, where the firework will be fired into the sky later. You then notice a familiar felling going through your body.
“Dad, give me a moment,” you said.
“What's wrong, Mirror?” he asked, looking a bit worried.
“It's... time to change,” you said, feeling your fangs grow.
“Oh, is it almost midnight already?” he asked looking at the sky.
“Feels like it,” you respond, feeling your wings changing from the feathered ones to the leathered ones with the feathers falling, vanishing most of them.
You blinked a couple of time to finish the transformation.
“Feeling better?” he asked.
“Yeah. One question, dad,” you started.
“What is it?” he asked.
“Do you know when the princess come?” you asked.
“She'll probably comes soon, since it's around midnight,” he responded.
“Alright, thank you dad,” you said.
“You're welcome. I wish you good luck with the lady,” he said, starting to leave the garden.
“Thank you,” you said, before you started to fly upwards, looking for a hiding spot.
