//-------------------------------------------------------// Doughnuts -by PlanetKiller- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// So Sweet and Sticky //-------------------------------------------------------// So Sweet and Sticky So Sweet and Sticky The tomato hung in the air; round, red, and rotten. Exploding on contact with its target, it covered the hapless colt in red. He heard the cheers and jeers of the bullies behind as he ran. While he was used to the bullying, it always brought tears to his pomegranate eyes. Doughnut Steel was unsure if it was his olive green coat, or silver mane, that fueled their hate. Being an earth pony could have also been a reason, as most of the bullies were unicorns and pegasi. After running until he could no longer hear his classmates, Doughnut slowed to a walk. Going home was not a viable option, as he had noting to do there. His parent were always busy with the steel refinery in Canterlot, but stayed in Ponyville for Doughnut’s sake. It hurt when they forgot his cute-ceañera. Doughnut was proud of his cutie mark, the elements of iron and carbon. These were the two main components for most types of steel. When he had shown his father, all he said was “That’s nice”; he didn’t even look up from his work. Mother was almost always in Canterlot, and paid even less attention to Doughnut. It didn’t help that the bullies knew where he lived. With nopony to look out for him, nowhere was safe. Sometimes, he wished he could just disappear. Doughnut had even entertained the notion of running away. There were always tales of fillies and colts seeking their fortune when they acquired their cutie marks. If a timid pegasus or a perky pink pony could do it, so could he. It was late evening when the young colt wandered into Sugarcube Corner. He sat alone in a corner and waited for closing time. Hopefully, nopony would bully him in a public setting, and he could kill time until he had to get home. Once home; he’d do his homework, eat, bathe, sleep, and suffer the same repetition tomorrow. “Happy cute-ceañera, it’s on the house.” Doughnut awoke to see a cute pink mare with beautiful blue eyes set a chocolate cupcake before him. Her kindness was so sweet that he could not hold his feelings. The tears burst froth from the dam. “I’m here, just let it all out” the pink mare consoled as she hugged him. After several minutes, Doughnut was able to regain his composure. It was then he noticed the shop had been closed an hour before he had awoken. Voicing his apologies, he made for the door. “Wait” Pinkie’s outcry stopped Doughnut in his tracks. “You’re Doughnut Steel, right?” The colt nodded. “I’ve been waiting for you, my pinkie sense told me you would come and seeing a pony neglected makes me sad” Pinkie’s poofy mane now hung limp “let me throw you at least one party before you go.” “What do I call you?” Doughnut wanted to know the name of his host. “You may call me Pinkamena” Doughnut agreed to the party, but Pinkamena had to set things up first. She used the cupcake as incentive for him to close his eyes and brought him to the basement for an intimate party. She took some time setting things up, but needed his help for the final decorations. Upon opening his eyes, Doughnut was greeted wit the most unique decorations. Various pink, red, and blue balloons of numerous shapes floated around the room. Ornate masks covered the walls, and some were used as table centerpieces. Colorful banners and streamers also adorned the wall. In the center of it was the most beautiful mare he had ever seen. Pinkie Pie was wearing a colorful harlequin-patterned dress. It was short enough that the balloons of her cutie mark could be seen. Tenderly, she kissed his forehead. The decorations were unfinished, so she had an important job for him. She asked Doughnut to get on a bare table. He winced as she deftly opened the container of decorations. Doughnut’s job was to hold it open as Pinkamena retrieved the contents. Looking inside, Doughnut saw various pink balloons, tinsel, food, and other party favors. Before Pinkamena started decorating, she had a tender, intimate, moment with the colt of honor. He gave a bow, she gave a curtsy. She was his first, he took her mercy. They knew each as friends, with benefits to both. He the guest, and her the host. After catching their breath, she began to unpack the decorations. Removing a small green balloon, she inflated it to the size of a pear with helium. Pinkamena fastened this balloon to Doughnut’s hoof and let it float. Next she removed a long pink balloon. After inflating it, she crafted it into a balloon version of herself. “This is for you” Pinkamena handed the balloon to Doughnut. Doughnut accepted it with tears in his eyes. Long, pink, tinsel was the next thing out of the container. It had to be cut into several lengths before being hung up. Soft and smooth, it glistened in the light. Pinkamena hung it on the walls that didn’t have banners. Doughnut watched, ensnared by the pink pony’s beauty. He was getting tired; Pinkamena noticed. “One more balloon, and we’ll take a break” she promised. Doughnut noticed that Pinkamena liked balloons as she removed a large, pink, oblong one. This was one of a pair, but she only needed one for now. Inflating it with helium, she let it float to the ceiling. Her skill at decorating took his breath away. As she allowed him to rest, she prepared a meal for them from ingredients in the container. Noticing that the poor colt had been getting thin, she wanted him to have a good meal before he departed. “I hope you enjoy it” Pinkamena set the food tray upon his chest. Their shared meal consisted of large kidney beans, a peeled and salted pomegranate, and an olive smoothie with heavy cream. It wasn’t normal party fare, but Pinkamena wanted to make sure the colt ate healthy. Doughnut was still growing, and Pinkamena was getting tired of sweets. She was going to make cupcakes with him later anyway, and their shared meal assured a part of him would stay with her; forever. While he ate, she painted his face with red hoof-paint. He couldn’t perceive the depth of Pinkamena’s love for him, or much of anything in his short youth, but he enjoyed her company. The colt’s plight in life had moved her so, but she hid her emotions. Doughnut thanked Pinkamena for the unique meal, he was ready to continue with the decorations. Just one final decoration before the party was complete. They had to hurry though, time was running out before Doughnut had to leave. He shed tears for the one who cared, a show of emotions she hadn’t dared. Uncovering his heart to his only friend, she promised company until the end. A giant ruby was all that had to be set out. Pinkamena removed it from its nest in the container. It was the crowning jewel of a centerpiece, a tribute to life to the young colt. Fortunately, he was able to see it before he had to leave. The two of them spent the last few moments together before he left. One final time, she accepted his bow with a curtsy. “Farewell, my sweet Doughnut” She kissed his forehead, and he smiled, before he departed. His departure left her empty, and Pinkamena finally shed her tears. Her wails could be heard in the darkened streets, if there were ponies around to hear them. Doughnut had truly touched her within, but he had left with a smile. She was happy to have given him one smile, but Pinkamena was tired and needed sleep. She decided to clean up tomorrow. Dashie would get a special party next week, but tonight she would cry herself to sleep. Author's Note He gave a bow, she gave a curtsy. She was his first, he took her mercy. They knew each as friends, with benefits to both. He the guest, and her the host. This popped into my head and I unfortunately thought about the motions. I might write something not-dark next.
