Newly Found Notes of Starswirl The Bearded
burp
"Excuse me! Twilight! The princess sent you a scroll!" Shouted Spike, who ran up the stairs to her room where she was sleeping, waving a scroll in his claw. The princess of friendship did not stir from her slumber up until, "It says Celestia found some important info on Starswirl!"
"WHAT!!!" exclaimed a half awake Twilight, trying to remove herself from the tangle of bedsheets. Once victorious, she snatched the scroll in her magic, opened it and began to read out loud.
Dear Princess Twilight,
While I was exploring the castle, I stumbled upon a door I had never seen before, after opening it with my magic, I went inside to investigate.
The walls of the chamber were coated in dusty bookcases, all of which were empty, save a single book in the corner. Upon further investigation, new information has been found on Starswirl the Bearded, I require you to come to Canterlot as of immediately. This is very urgent.
Signed, Princess Celestia.
"Spike! Gather your stuff and hop on! We are going to Canterlot RIGHT BUCKING NOW!" Screeched the lavender alicorn, not letting Spike move from the spot, lifting him onto her back with her magic, and flew out her open windowing the night sky.
*Around Two Hours Later*
"Princess Celestia! We came as soon as we got the message! Princess?" inquired Twilight, approaching the hunched over figures around the crystal table, noticing that Cadence, Shining Armour and Luna were worriedly looking at a disheveled Celestia as the tall alicorn paced with a dusty book in her face.
"Twily! Sit down, Celestia was waiting for you and she's about to spill the beans!" said Shining, motioning to the seat on his left. Once everypony was seated, the princess of the sun lowered the book onto the middle of the table and faced the four other rulers, and softly put her hooves through her mane.
"I apologize for bringing you all here in the middle of the night, but this is URGENT information and even I'm not quite sure what to do with it." she said while looking hopefully to the other alicorns and the one unicorn.
"Auntie, could you portray the notes? Maybe if we see it, it will be easier to comprehend and explain!" suggested Cadence, motioning to the book with her horn, Celestia nodded and a golden glow enveloped everypony in the room and the book. A shimmering apparition came to view and they all floated into it, kind of a type of time travel but not at all. A gruff voice resonated around the ponies, narrating the story.
"Sunday 6th moon 3:30, I was preparing dinner for my children after a long day of extreme spell casting. I had to prepare them for the transmogrification spells of tomorrow..." The voice faded out and they saw a spitting image of the ancient sorcerer standing over a huge pot of soup,
*In the vision world*
"Contrast! Power Surge! Get down here! Dinner is almost ready!" Starswirl shouted to the stairs, expecting his two children to come barreling down, instead a black and blue alicorn mare with silver blue wings flew through the open window, while the front door swung open and a young alicorn stallion with multiple colours trotted in.
"Sorry dad, Contrast and I were playing war in the front yard." said the black alicorn, glaring her bright green eyes at her brother.
"Yeah, I set the hedge on fire by accident." said the multicoloured stallion, shaking water out of his white mane and wringing out his pinkish tail. "And Surge blasted me with water." giving his sister a equal amount of glare with his yellow red striped eyes. The alicorn siblings sat down at the table as their father set two steaming bowls of hot soup in front of them.
"Now now, the hedge will grow back and you will dry. Now it's time to eat, tomorrow is transmogrifying day!" exclaimed the cheery unicorn mage, who sat down with his children as they began eating.
"We know dad, I can't wait! I want to mogrify into something cool! Like a giant bug!" said Power Surge with a mouth full of noodles, spraying soup on her brother, who was in the line of fire.
"No way! Bugs aren't cool! Dragons and snakes are AWESOMER!" retaliated Contrast, using his white and blue striped horn to lift his napkin over his muzzle and wipe the soup saliva mix off. Starswirl merely chuckled at their antics, which occurred every time they weren't moving around or casting spells. After all the food was eaten and the children tucked into bed, he retired to his chambers himself, practicing the spell once more before laying down to rest.
"Hey."
"..."
"Hey."
"..."
"Contrast I know your awake!" whisper shouted the black alicorn, nudging the blue and purple wings of her sibling. Who simply grunted in response. "Come on! I wanna tell you something!" she whispered again, nudging him harder. He simply rolled farther away from her reach. Easily fed up, she grabbed the pink of his tail in her mouth and pulled.
"OOWWW!" he howled as his sister spat out his tail fur. "WHAT DO YOU WANT!"
"Just wanted to say how much cooler bugs are then dragons." replied a smug Power Surge. A angry growl escaped Contrast as he tackled his sister off her bed and they started wrestling on the floor.
"GO TO SLEEP YOU TWO! POWER STOP BITING YOUR BROTHER AND CONTRAST QUIT STRANGLING YOUR SITER WITH YOUR WINGS! DON'T MAKE ME COME UP THERE!" shouted a angry Starswirl, who had his rest interrupted by his house shaking and the books above his bed falling on his head.
"Sorry dad!" exclaimed the two scared foals, ducking under their respective bed covers and quickly falling into a uneasy slumber.
*The next day in the vision*
"Ready?" Star swirl asked his two children, who were giddily bouncing and flying around the place.
"YES YES YES!" they both exclaimed, quickly calming down and standing stock still in front of their father, who prepared his spell in his head.
"Power Surge! What do you want to mogrify into?"
"A cool giant bug!" she answered.
"Contrast!?"
"Anything awesome!" he replied. A bright beam of yellow magic shot out of his horn towards his lovely children. Star swirl opened his eyes, expecting to see a giant beetle and a small dragon, instead, what he saw was a horror that permanently scarred his mind. The screams to haunt him forever.
His son was writhing in agony on the ground, his body elongating and the hair on his tail solidified into a pink dragon tail, his hind legs changed into a goat leg and a lizard leg. His forelegs strengthening and becoming a lion paw and a claw. The yellow of his eyes grew to cover the whites, his pupils turning red. The blue and white striped horn on his head split in two, one a pearly white antler, the other becoming bumpier and longer. and finally, the blue and purple feathers of his wings changed, one wing became fleshy and rigid, a bat wing. While the other changed sky blue and feathery.
Starswirl faced his daughter, who was flying about frantically, though the sound of flapping wings changed quickly to a irritating buzz. She crashed into the wall, a sickening crush resonated through the chamber, her black coat turned solid, became a insect shell. Her flowing blue mane turned cobweb like, sticking to her head as her horn grew jagged, pointed at the end. She tried to stand as her legs started to resemble swiss cheese with all the holes in them, her wings had become see-through, the pupils in her emerald eyes turned to slits and her teeth to fangs.
"HELP US!!" they chorused his now monstrous children, scared and in pain from the transformation. In a panic Starswirl tried his failsafe spell, only to see no result. He watched helplessly as his beloved children became monsters, once they were completely transformed, Contrast was a draconequus. Power Surge was a bug pony mix, called a Changeling.
Starswirl could not bear the thought of having his children live in a body that was not theirs, so he cast an amnesia spell on both, gave them new names, and let them go.
*Back to Canterlot with the narrator.*
"I let them go. I couldn't bring myself to do anymore magic, so this will be my final entry. I will banish myself for the unintended cruelty against my own children. If anypony finds and reads this, I beg of you, do not bring harm upon the ones named, Discord and Chrysalis. Goodbye." finished the voice, as the real world faded back into view.
"THAT WAS SO SAD!" bawled Shining Armour, who began to cry into his beloved wife's shoulder. The rest nodded in agreement.
"I think it would be best if we left this wedge of history alone for the time being." suggested Luna, checking the time to see when her sister would have to raise the sun.
"I agree with Luna on this one, I don't think a certain draconequus could bear to know his past if it were this..." said Twilight, picking up a sleeping Spike and placing him gently on her back. "We best be going, big day tomorrow. Good night everypony."
"Good night Twilight." said Celestia as she closed the book and brought it back to the hidden room where she found it. With a final, sad glance at the heartbreaking history, she sealed the door shut. Sealing the past with it.
