Chapter 1: A mysterious, deadly, stranger...
So... After many months of school and work, I finally have some time to work on this story again (You guys have absolutely NO idea how hectic it is around here...) This story should be better now that I have a friend who is both a Brony and he wants to be a writer when he gets older! (Woo hoo! Editors!) I'm really sorry for those of you that actually read this... (How can you READ this btw?) I feel I've improved at story-making lately, and instead of deleting this, I decided to re-write it. (I'm sorry if this makes any of you mad, but I feel that this story got off on the wrong hoof...) So! without further ado, lets get this re-write started shall we? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've always felt like an outcast... My own family doesn't accept me... besides my sister that is... After that, My mother always tried to change who I was... My father, though not alcoholic, or an addict, or a bad person in general, always beat me... I don't know why, but he always did.
One day, as my sister and I were coming home, Our house was broken into, My parents murdered, and only one object was stolen... An old box that my father kept in a closet, all that was left in the house was a giant red cross drawn in my parents blood on the wall. My life has been downhill from there... I'm old enough to get a job an an apartment, but due to my missing school for an entire two years I was forced to go to High School until I was twenty, now I'm twenty three and my sister is only thirteen... She gets all of the attention... Our relatives always welcome her to parties and sleepovers, but as soon as I walk in, everyone gets quiet and stares at me... never a caring smile, or a worried frown, but always a look of fear and regret, That's all I ever get... The "Black Sheep" if you will...
Ponies... Now, most would probably shake their heads in confusion, like, "why's this guy talking about small horses?" Well... Seeing as how I can't afford cable, and all that I have left from when my parents died is an old computer what little money I do get I spend paying for the bills to my apartment, and internet, and seeing as how that's my only form of entertainment, It was only a matter of time before I found "Bronies"...
Now, looking back at my life, I tried to look at most things with an open, accepting mind... and seeing those happy, smiling ponies in their beautiful colorful world made me... happy...for the first time in years, I felt true happiness... Twilights' naivety, Applejacks' honor and strength, Raritys' selflessness, Fluttershys' kindness, Pinkie Pies' bouncy random, happiness, and last, but definitely not least, Rainbow Dashs' loyalty.
I liked to look at myself as if I were Rainbow Dash... I love my sister, and stand by her no matter what. Everyone who went to school with me knows I'm more than just athletic, I'm an exercise machine, benching more than two-fifty, and leg pressing more than three-eighty, great at running, climbing, and my favorite lately, free-running. Free-running has become second nature to me now... seeing as how I live in a big city, there's plenty of broken down buildings, and factories that have been around packed into the older part of the city, close to where I live , that can help me improve.
One day, by the biggest factory of the bunch, in my Gray-black jacket with the triangle at the end of the hood (like from Assassins creed, my favorite Video game series) my running shoes, a red shirt and a pair of black, baggy jeans, I started warming up for a good obstacle course run around the factory. Most of the older residents tell the kids from elementary and middle school to stay away from the factories and abandoned train depot, but no one tries to talk to the older, smarter teenagers, So a sight like a kid in his late teens to earl twenties was not an uncommon sight around that area.
I started running, my legs pumping as fast as they could, jumping over rails, dodging under bars, and swerving around corners and beams. I saw someone else, running close-by me, he was wearing a similar ensemble, only totally black and red, a red cross on the back of his jacket, and a black mask, a large rounded visor covered his face. I laughed, he looked like Snake Eyes from G.I. Joe. He nodded, I nodded back. He free-ran with me, the two of us dancing around the bars and rails of the abandoned factory. at a wall near a low window towards the back of the Factory, he sped up, leaping over the bars in front of us, holding them in front of him, fingers locked, inviting me to jump.
I smiled, and nodded, ran as fast as I could, and raised my foot, he launched me upwards, i grabbed onto the edge of the window, vaulting myself over on one hand, dropping and holding my hand down towards him, he stands up, calmly walking backwards, then ran, full speed towards the wall. He ran up the wall and grabbed my hand, I pulled him up, the both of us breathing heavily, he pulled off his visor, his eyes a strange magenta color, But I shouldn't talk considering my left eye is yellow and the right is red...
"Hey," He called over to me, smirking. "Are you Jacob Angelo?"
"Yeah, you heard of me?" I respond, I was rather surprised he knew my name, only my old teachers and my family knew my name, my family simply because they're my family, and my teachers because not once did I ever say a single word after my parents' death, not even in my performing arts class, where all I did was write plays for the actors to perform.
"I have something for you." He said, reaching into the pocket on his knee, "Here," He held out a pistol, hammer cocked back, my eyes went wide. "If the knights can't use it, no one should." His eyes narrowed, he pulled the trigger...
"Are you sure he'll be okay Fluttershy?" I heard a slightly familiar voice say, I slowly opened my eyes, the light burning my retinas, I raised my arm, It looked like a huge blob in front of my eyes, my eyes adjusted to the light quickly, but my eyesight still blurry, my hearing a bi muffled, everything sounded distant...
"The poor dear! would you look at that hole in his side!" A white blob appeared by my side.
"Rarity! back away, he's waking up!" The first voice said, which seemed to come from a purple blob towards the back of the room.
My eyesight cleared, and I looked around the room, it seemed to be made out of wood, lots of colorful books, shades, and curtains smothered the small window, a lamp was the only light on the room, though covered up, I could smell fresh air and hear Crickets chirping outside. I looked towards the foot of the bed, a group of colorful, intrigued... Ponies? Where... staring at me...
The violet one , a unicorn from the looks of it, walked, or should I say, trotted over to me, head cocked, "Hey there, how are you feeling?" She asked, a look of genuine worry spread across her face.
"Well, my side is in a lot of pain and I'm talking to a pony... So yeah..." From that I only got a puzzled look from her, almost as if talking horses are normal.
"You silly! Of course we can talk!" A Pink one with a dark magenta puff of hair on her head shouted out, bouncing up and down, "That's why you can talk!"
"Huh?" I picked up my arm, it was a lot clearer now, a gray-ish silver coat running over my skin, a hard hoof at the end. "Huh... I'm a pony too... um.. can you excuse me for a second while I..." I fell back, fading into unconsciousness as a group of six ponies rushed towards me, worried look on their faces.
"A pony huh..?" were my last thoughts as I slipped into the peaceful quietness of my mind...
The double life I'm not so glad to lead...
Chapter 2: Trying not to lose my mind.
So, after clearing up my schedule and working out and making a deal with my boss, I've figured out that I can work on the chapters for this story on either Saturday nights, or Sundays, so expect a LOT more work on this one than the last story, for those of you who have rated to story, thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate it, and if you ever find something confusing, or strange, just let me know, I'll try to fix it as quickly as I can, now that I've gotten that cleared up, let's get back to the story.
I was awake, it was bright outside, and it smelled... Nice... My eyes were closed, but I already knew I wasn't anywhere near the city... It was much too quiet and I didn't choke if I breathed in too much, or too quickly.
I opened my eyes to find myself in a brightly decorated room, wooden, and also there was what appeared to be a veggie sandwich, orange juice, and a muffin, I reached for the glass, and saw my arm, my eyes went wide as I stared at it, I was no longer sleepy, or tired, because all I saw was a stumpy looking thing, and a hard, brownish, black hoof at the end.
I remained silent for a time, staring at the appendage, then panic took over as I yelled at the top of my lungs,"AAAAAAAH!" I tried to pick myself off of the bed by sitting up, but found it an awkward thing to do with hips built for four-legged animals, I fell off of the bed, I landed on something, and I heard a 'pop', and insane amount of pain shot through something, at first I had thought it was my arm, but then looking back at the hoofed limb, I realized it was something else, I tried to get up, failing miserably the first few time, then finally righting myself, I looked at my back, and saw two grayish-silver appendages, one twisted at an awkward angle, thinking about it, I simply though, "Wings. I have wings." I was stopped mid thought by a wave of pure pain, I yelled again.
A quiet voice emanated from below, "Oh my, you're awake!" I panicked as soon as I heard loud "Thumps" coming from the stairs outside of the door, I ran behind the bed, one wing in pain, the other flapping wildly, knocking against the headrest repeatedly, my hurt wing flapped too, causing even more pain to shoot though it, I held it down as best I could, the other still flapping loudly. The door creaked as it opened, and I heard a kind voice ask, "Are you okay in here?" My wings shot straight up, I had to hold them down to keep them from giving away my hiding place, of course, this made my injured wing pulse pain, I involuntarily whimpered, then shove my hoof over my mouth, my wings shot up again, knocking against the wood loudly.
"There you are!" I heard the voice say a loud series of clops got louder as she got closer to me, I tensed up, expecting my kidnapper to be holding a knife or a gun, next to the bed,"Hi there." A Creamish-yellow head popped out from behind behind the headrest, pink hair covering one of her eyes, which were kind and seemed to ooze kindness. "Are you okay?" She asked, genuinely worried, I was breathing heavily, I launched myself away from her, smashing my head against the hard wood of the wall. She cringed as I curled up in a ball, holding the top of my head, clenching my teeth.
"DAMMIT!" I yelled loudly, she backed away a bit, I just stayed there and rubbed my head a bit, then tried to hide behind the small table next to the bed, cowering in fear.
"It's okay, I won't hurt you." She smiled, her face seemed very kind, her eyes pools of calming blue water. She held out a hoof. At first I hesitated, then looking again into her eyes, I hooked my hoof around hers and she helped me up onto my hooves. I winced as my wing seemed to become a pain factory again, She looked at it, and said, "Oh, your poor wing... You need help... well... If you want help that is..." She blushed lightly, looking down.
"Um... sure... thanks..." I said, She was taller than me, She also had wings from the look of it, I held my broken wing out to the side, pain shot through it again, I winced and tried to hold as still as possible so she could see. She looked at it, she shifted it around a bit, being very careful not to cause too much discomfort.
"Um... does it hurt when I do this?" She pushed a bit on the joint that was sort of like an elbow, I winced and she stopped. "I see, you must popped it out of place..." She walked out, then came back in with a first aid kit. "please try to stay still for this, it'll only take a minute..." She was right, it did in fact take only a minute... but it was a very painful minute...
"Thanks again Fluttershy, I owe you one... " I looked back at my wing, a splint holding it in place, bandages keeping it tightly against my body.
She smiled kindly, "It's no problem, um... I'm sorry, what IS your name?"
"It's-" I stopped, what WAS my name? "I... I don't know..." My head dropped, staring down at the colorful rug on the floor. I tried to look through my memories, trying to see if I could find myself, but they all stopped at this morning. I had absolutely no Idea who I was... "I don't know who I am..."
She looked at me, her eyes full of worry, "We should get you to Twilight, she'll know what to do..." She got up from her sitting position, and grabbed a small bag by the front door, she swung it across the back and opened the door, "I'll try to be back as soon as possible, but if you see anypony coming this way, ask their names before letting them in, okay?"
"Alright." She smiled again, "There's a list of people coming by today on the table, just check those names to see if someone who needs heir pet returned comes by."
"Alright." she walked out, leaving me alone. I walked out the back door, looking around, a chicken coop sat near the back left corner of the fenced off yard, a thick, dark forest loomed menacingly in the back ground, several animals were out and playing in he backyard, enjoying themselves. I laid down on a spot of tall grass, looking around again. Man... I must be going crazy... I closed my eyes, then heard a flapping over me.
"Hey!" A sassy female voice said, "Where's Tank?" I opened my eyes to find an annoyed looking cyan pegasus glaring at me. "Well?" Sh landed, her rose colored eyes had filled my vision before, and now I could see her Rainbow hair flowing down along her back and neck, a cloud with a multi-colored lightning bolt was on her flank.
"Let me guess, Rainbow Dash?" I stood up, Fluttershy had told me about Rainbow, She talked about her in an almost fangirl- like way, "You here for your tortoise?"
"Yeah! Why else would I come by?" She looked at me in an uninterested way, but her eyes kept getting wide and then she made them smaller again. "Who are you anyway?"
A few of the smaller animals had been fighting earlier, one of them stormed off, a raccoon, and climbed up into the tree near the cottage, one of the squirrels had gotten into t tree and gotten mad at the raccoon, which in turn lead to the raccoon being pushed off of the tree and onto Rainbow Dash, who fell on me, knocking me into the back of the cottage, breaking the wooden splint Fluttershy had painfully put on me, and also knocking me out, Not two days and I'm already getting major injuries... man... my life sucks... I slowly drifted into unconsciousness as Rainbow Dash trotted over to me, she was freaking out, shaking me by my shoulders.
"Come on! Twilight will kill me if I hurt you..." She said, her voice slowly getting distant. and then nothing... nothing, but Nightmares...
The double life I'm not so glad to lead...
Chapter 3: Nightmare fuel...
Welp I've decided that I'll wait until maybe I get a couple more views on this story before I really keep going with it, (unless you guys reading this REALLY want me to keep it going) But even though this is technically an old story, I hope you'll share it and spread it around to your friends!
A loud voice...
Dangling chains...
A free-runner with a bullet wound in his side...
a familiar face...
Blood dripping from walls...
The stench of decay...
Purple eyes...
I woke up again in a different place this time though a large hollowed out tree... filled with books... I never was a fan of books, because of my shunning in my family, I never learned to read until I got into third grade, I'm still incredibly bad at it...
I tried standing up, but again, I fell on the floor my bandaged wing, once again, serving as a very painful cushion for my fall. I got on my hooves, my wing throbbing with agony and tried to find my way down.
The place was absolutely filled with books, wall to wall, floor to ceiling, some of them were even in small, color coded baskets at the foot of the shelves. I continued walking, taking in all of the rings and layers of the tree/library thing and started looking for a window. It had started raining, I'm pretty sure it was actually the thunder from the storm that woke me up...
"How in the hell did it start raining? It was sunny when I woke up this morning..." I said to no one in particular, my voice echoing softly through the large room,
"Oh well... this place must be like Missouri...'If you want the weather to change, just wait five minutes!' Wait... What's Missouri...?" I shook my head and continued on my way down, I could hear faint voices and even bigger books, Damn... I thought, This tree must be really damn big... I walked down and saw a bunch of ponies sitting, or rather laying in front of a fireplace in the center of the room, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy on the other side of the room, Rainbow Dash with her head bowed and Fluttershy staring at her, attempting to be scolding, but looking adorable instead.
"What do you have to say for yourself?" Asked Fluttershy, her eyes straight and staring at Rainbow in such a way that made me both cringe and try not to die from how cute it was, it almost made me forget about my wing... almost...
"Sorry! okay? That stupid furball knocked me into him..." Dash blushed as she said this, looking like a little kid, defeated but still defiant. I tried going down the stairs slowly an quietly but my wing bumped into a book that was sticking out and I involuntarily whimpered, then I put my hoof up to my mouth and lost my balance, causing me to fall down an entire flight of thirty steps. Landing on, surprise, surprise, my bad wing.
"Fuck!" I yelled as the ponies turned to me, looking surprised and worried.
"Are you alright dear?" the white unicorn said, she was a sight alright, dressed as if she were going to a funeral, all black and enough makeup to cut through three inches of it before hitting skin...
"Yeah... I'm fi-," I couldn't finish before my wing cramped up and I fell back onto the ground again in agony, my joints burning and my nerves flooded with pain, my face twisting and my teeth grinding.
"Your not fine, Applejack, go and take him upstairs, I'll make him something to calm down that cramp..." the purple unicorn trotted off and an orange pony in a stetson got under me and picked me up on her back.
"Hoo-wee! Yah sure are heavy! Ev'n if you are just a lil' pipsqueak!" She chuckled and carried me back into the bed upstairs, my wing once again twisted at an awkward angle and my back aching from the cramp.
"Who're you calling a pipsqueak?" I said back, only now realizing how much bigger than me she actually was.
"You, tiny." She chuckled again and left me on my own as she walked down the stairs.
I started to calm down. I felt tired after all that pain, the energy in my body was all drained and my head was pounding, I started to slowly drift off, even if I did roll in my sleep, at least I'd be asleep so I wouldn't feel the pain from my wing.
But that wasn't the pain I felt in my sleep...
Not at all...
