Our Town Full of True Friends

"Oh, I'm sorry Starlight,"  said Sunburst's mother, Moon Beam. "But Sunburst has already left for Magic School.  I thought he had told you that?" she questioned.

"No, he didn't,"  Starlight responded.  "I haven't seen him sense he got his cutie-mark,"  she said while looking down at her hooves with a sad expression on her face.

"I had no idea, Honey,"  Moon Beam said with surprise.  "If I had known that he hadn't said good-bye to you I would have made sure to stop by the orphanage on the way to the train station so that he could have, even though we were in a rush you are his best friend."

"No, no it's fine.  I understand,"  though as she was saying this a thought came to her mind.  'Am I really his best friend he?  He just forgot about me when he got his cutie-mark and then left without saying good-bye.  I would have understood if he had just come to say that he was going to magic school, but no!  I guess I'm just not that important to him anymore now that he has a cutie-mark!'  she ranted in her mind.

"Well, good-bye Mrs. Beam, I'll see you around,"  Starlight said while turning around to go back to the orphanage.

"Good-bye Starlight, again I'm sorry,"  said Moon Beam.

"It's okay,"  she said.

'I'm never going to let anypony be forgotten because of a cutie-mark ever again.

~~~SOME YEARS LATER~~~

Starlight Glimmer had gotten her own cutie-mark in magic about 40 moons later and had been working hard ever sense in order to create a spell to help other ponies that had been abandoned like her or weren't appreciated for their talents.  She had decided when she was younger that when she became an adult that she would travel Equestria in search of ponies that needed a friend to help them and to help her with her goal.

She had reached that age about three moons ago and she took that time to get ready for a long trip.  She had a few spells that she had made that could work, she also had one in particular that she thought would work the best for what she was planning considering the fact that it was the most easily reversed.  Starlight double, than triple checked her saddle bags and when she was sure that she had everything that she would need she started to walk out of town.

When she got to the entrance of the town she looked back one last time, knowing that she wouldn't be coming back, and whispered "Good-bye."
