Chapter one
enlistment
It was a cold night,a monsoon tore around cloudsdale . A Pegasus named ace tried to duck under her umbrella but it was useless, wind and rain whipped around a recruitment post that Ace ran into. The door crashed behind her as a major with a clean fatigue said in a distressed voice “ you ok?” “yea.” Ace said bleakly. Ace staggered to the booth the major was sitting behind. The recruitment post had little isle between the display cases of medals upon medals, she walked along the polished wood floors down the aisle
and pictures of an admiral she didn't know line the walls but supposed she should she would figure who he was when she got the exam.
Then the major asked her name ,where she was born ,and if she had any relatives already in the pegasus air force. In fact she did, her sister was 1 year older than her ,17 to be exact. “What position you want to test for.” The major said with curiosity. “I want to be in the FOB’s.” she replied. “
The major seemed concerned that she wanted to be in a forward operating base.
“In that case your in shoes no one else wants to be in ,you’ll be in Red squadron. IF… you pass the tests.”
Two months later she was sent to a remote training facility just outside of north Yakkastan her training included her carrying 50 pound saddlebags, which progressed in weight by the week. She had met a stallion her age named kansas, he was a large muscular figure with a brownish red coat. “Okay im officially done with battle saddle training, my backs got a ache in it so bad that i could rest it for a thousand years and it would still hurt.” Ace explained while walking into the girls tent with the rest of the trainees. She laid on her leather mattress. The tent had a rough dirt floor that was unwelcoming to the acheing ponies. To Aces left she spotted her picture of Carolina, her older sister, inside a silver lined frame. And next to hers Silver arrow’s mother and father sat in a poorly built rusty iron frame, ace couldn’t count the times Silver arrow told them that the reason why he kept the iron frame. She kept it because her father before her used it to hold a picture of his parents and siblings and so on and so on. That dresser held all of there clothes and bags in individual lockers and kept their family photos and heirlooms on the metal hunk of junk. This tent had been there lives for almost a month and a quarter. And they weren't about to leave.
