Happy mother's day, Dashie
The Crying
Load Full StoryIt was a normal mother's day for Applejack. More or less. Woke up, bucked apples until nine,
then Big Mac, Applebloom, Granny Smith, and Applejack walked to the graveyard. Rainbow Dash had made it sunny in Ponyville so mother's could enjoy their day in peace. But over the graveyard a low mist hung in the air, and a small shower of rain. The Apples sat on the grass breathing in the damp air. They had done this every year, well twice a year. They sat looking at two graves that stood there before them. Apple Pie and Honeycrisp. It read.
"I miss em." Applebloom said. Hugging onto Big Mac's leg. Big Mac, who knew them the most, besides Granny Smith, only replie was.
"E'yup" he said in his deep voice. They stood there. Applejack tipped her hat toward the graves,
The last gift her father gave her.
"Happy mother's day." Applejack said. All the Apples looked at the verge of tears.
"We better be goin'n" Granny said. Applejack rose a hoof. Not wanting to leave.
"I'm goin' stay here for a little bit. Yal go on and head back." A.J said. Applebloom looked at her big sister. Tears were forming at the bottom of her eyes.
"Okay, but come on back, A.J." Applebloom said. Applejack smiled at them as they began to walk away.
"I will" she called. Applejack sat at their grave. She looked at them. She must of pondered
to much about them 'cause she was throw into a memory. But not just any memory.
The last memory Applejack had of them. The day they died.
Apple Pie, Honeycrisp, Big Mac, and Applejack troted down a path that lead to Ponyville.
They were laughing and smiling and talking.
"Then the Manticore said 'Well I'll be a Apple tree!', then poof! He turned right into an Apple tree!" Honeycrisp said. The Apples laughed. Grammy Smith had stayed home with their youngest, Applebloom. The family was going out to town to sell apples. Apple Pie had a cart full of apples and apple pies. They weren't worried about the creatures in the wood, they never came out. But the smell of apple pie tempted the hungry creatures lurking in the shadows, a roar filled the air. The family stopped dead in their tracks. A huge pony-eating Manticore stepped out of the shadows and into the pathway. It had smelled the pies, and the delicious pies was just on list for his dinner.
"Run." Apple Pie said to them. He wanted to protect his family. "Run now!" He ordered. Honeycrisp looked at him.
"Not without you." She said. She looked at her children, who were quivering in fear. "Run, run back to the barn" the fillie looked at her older brother, who nodded. The two young Apples started running, but before they could Apple Pie put his hat on the fille and told her.
"Take good, care of it would ya, Sugarcube?" He asked. Applejack nodded and began to run.
Suddenly A.J was zaped back into the present, not only because the memory was over or the
rain was slowly stopping, but because she heard crying. A slow sobbing echoed the graveyard. Applejack got up, she too was crying. She followed the sound of the crying it lead out of the graveyard and out into the Everfree Forest. Applejack wondered if she would wander out into Everfree Forest, but somepony may need help so she trotted into the maze of plants.
The crying continued becoming louder and louder as she went deeper into woods. Until she was at a medow, there was a large hill, and small flower clusters here and there. It was very beautiful, but that didn't explain why someone was crying. Applejack trotted over the hill and was shocked because a the bottom of the slope was the pony who was crying. The pegasus was a year or so younger than Applejack and was tiny. She was sitting by two graves. Applejack silently walked down the hill toward her.
"Howdy, y'all. Would ya mind tell me why- Rainbow?" Applejack broke off as she saw Rainbow's face red from tears. Rainbow got up and turned to face her tears still falling, what in all of Equestria was she doing here. I was so shocked. I couldn't even talk.
"What? Why? How?" I stammered. Rainbow looked down.
"You better sit down, Applejack. It's a long story." She told me.
