Life, Balance And Harmony. Not That Easy to Deal With
Dark.
Wherever I look, everything is dark.
Dark and cold… huh, I guess I should have started to panic when everything around me disappeared.
All I can remember is that I was at home, reading an article published on a blog when that weird guy came and gave me that strange orb.
Hell, that article was so interesting that I didn't even care or question this guy and his strange... orb... or whatever it is. Instead, I just took it blindly, like an idiot.
I guess I should have been worried.
Now everything around me is… well in fact there isn't a lot of things. Only me, that orb, and the void.
Yep I definitly should have been worried.
Now I'm just stuck in the middle of nowhere (literally), trying to figure out what I should do... if I can still do something.
At least I can breath and my heart is still beating so I guess I'm still alive.
"*sigh* I didn't expect that to happend" I muttered to myself "Okay I wanted something new in my boring life but … not THAT !"
Honestly, I didn't know what to do. How could I know that a guy like me would experience something like this? I mean, I was just your average guy! Maybe a bit taller than most other guys, but hey! I was totally normal! My brown eyes scanned the darkness around me... and I ran my hands through my black hair... I was alone, engulfed in darkness.
'Okay... recap... everything happened because I touched this strange orb... so, maybe, if I touch it again something new will happen maybe? Lets hope so.'
I tried to approach the orb, and as I touched it, I sensed my body melting.
"GYAAAAH ! I'M BURNING ! AAAAAAAH !!"
The pain stopped progressively, and as I looked at my body, I saw that it was shining. It was so bright, looking at it was actually really hard.
I sighed in relief as the pain was vanishing, and when I looked up, I saw a sort of face, which was extremely bright.
"Greetings Dan Statera" A voice said.
"Ha !" I screamed "Who's there ? Show yourself ! "
And then, what seems like the mouth of the face started to move.
"No need to be afraid, my child. I will not harm you" The face spoke "In fact, I want to help you. I am sure you have a lot of questions, and I will be glad to answer them."
"What ?! Are you kidding ? How can I trust... something like you ?! You... I don't even know what you are !"
"As I told you my child, I will answer to all of your questions, so go ahead"
"How could I even... you know what ? Nevermind. But I really hope you have answers for me. So, first question : what happened ? I mean I was in my house, and when I touched that orb, I found myself here."
"Yes I figured out you will be asking this first. Allow me to explain : I came from a world where balance and harmony are… important. But after the harmony has been broken due to a few events, I was obliged to do a lot of things in order to restore it." He explained
'Harmony ? What is he talking about ? I thought.
"I don't understand anything at all. What do you mean by harmony ? And is there a reason for me being here ?"
"This 'orb' as you call it, is in fact an artifact. It's called the Sphere of Equilibrium. The Sphere reflects the balance in my world. If the balance in the world is disturbed, this orb will show it. » He took a deep breath « And the reason why I brought you here is that I need you to take the Sphere and go in my world in order to prevent any disturbance from the balance and harmony in the world »
I didn't know what to say... I didn't even know what to think.
This...face.... took me away from my home. My world. My Life...all because he needs help with his world? What the fuck? That was so unbelievable. I sorta didn't believe it myself.
This has to be a dream. Yeah this is a dream. I'm gonna weak up and all of this will be over.
"Sorry but this is not a dream" He said "I also wished it was a dream, everything was not real but saddly, it is. I really need your help. I cannot speak with you forever. My power is decreasing."
"Ok, ok. So let me get this straight. You are ... hum … some powerful being whose role is to watch out for balance and harmony in a world which has screw it up ?" I asked, not totally sure what else to say.
"Indeed, but the other inhabitants of my world have restored the balance and the harmony in it. Now I am asking you to replace me as the new god of life, balance and harmony"
"…"
"So what is your answer ? Do you agree ? Will you watch and protect the balance and harmony of the world, and make sure no one try to perturb it ?"
"... Are ... ARE YOU KIDDING ME ??! How could I … I … I don't even … Did you juste say you are a GOD ??!"
"Well, yes I am. Does it really matter ?"
"Does it matter ?! Of course it is ! You are a GOD ! You should be able to do everything you want ! So why are you asking ME, a mortal, to help you with YOUR job ?! I really don't understand what is wrong with you !"
"… I am dying"
"What ? You ...you're dying ? But you're a god ! Aren't you supposed to be immortal or something ?"
"I thought that too, but it seems the constant fighting for balance and harmony exhausted me. Damn you Discord ..."
"Huh ? What was that ?"
"It was nothing my child, do not worry. So, do you understand why my request is so important now ?"
"Yeah I think I get it. But ..."
"What is it my child ?"
"Why me ? There is a lot of people in my world, and I don't think I'm the best person to help you. So why did you choose me instead of someone else ?"
"I cannot answer you directly, but you must know that I chose you because you have something special in you. You cannot feel it now, but you have great … potential. Something is resonating within you and I felt it so that's why I chose you."
"Potential ? Resonating ? What do you mean ?"
"Sorry my child, it's time for me to leave, but let me assure you that you will find out by yourself the answers you are seeking for. Just don't forget : Your goal is to preserve the balance and harmony. Farewell Dan Statera, I wish you good luck my child"
And with that, the face disappeared.
"Well, I … wait what is wrong with the orb ? " I asked to no one in particularly as I saw the orb shining and rising above me
Whitout warning, the orb disappeared. After this, my eyes closed and I felt my consciousness fade.
