Chapters My name is Nutmeg. I'm nineteen years old and I'm a earth pony. I have a light gray and dark brown mane and live in Ponyville. Or rather, I was living here until now. I've been packing up my things for about a month and I finally got everything ready. I had been dreaming this day since I was twelve when I wanted to live it up in the big city. My dream was to bake fresh bread and have it shared all over Equestria. Saving up bits to make my move wasn’t easy but everypony I knew helped along the way. Unfortunately, that also meant leaving behind them as well... there were tears when I arrived to say goodbye but I knew if I wanted to make a positive difference in my life and others’, I had to chase my dream. Everypony gather around to see me off but I didn't see my two closest friends or my sister. I thought maybe they were being held up by something.
"I know it's hard to leave your friends but I promise I will try to come by whenever I can." I reassured them.
As I said that, my parents showed up. They had something in their straw baskets. They handed it to me and smiled.
"I always told myself this day would come but I never wanted it to happen." My mother said tearing up.
"I knew there was something special about you, Nutmeg. Just know we love you very much and wish for the best." My father with a smile, placed a hoof on my shoulder.
I smiled back.
"I know and I promise I won't forget about you. Mom, you’ve been so caring, so loving and helpful in taking care of me. There's no amount of thanks in the world that will pay for this. Dad, I'm glad you pushed me to chasing my dream. I can't thank you enough."
They both hugged me almost not wanting to let go and I placed the last of my things into a wood cart. As I was about to leave, I ran back inside my home to grab a photo of my family and I. I called out my little sister but no response. I just assumed she was out somewhere. Hard to believe it had been nineteen years since I was born. I grabbed the photo by my bedside table and went back outside. I still didn't see any sign of my two friends. I wish I had seen them off but I guess they are busy. Well, I knew I would see them again someday. I told the movers that was everything and they thanked me. I paid them and they went on there way with a different bigger cart.
"Hey dad? If you see my friends or little miss troublemaker, please tell them I will miss them." I requested.
He nodded and now that everything was complete, I started to head out pulling the cart behind me. I waved goodbye one last time before they disappeared out of my view. I knew it would take about three day to get there so I had time to spare. Still, I wish they had been there... Oh well, I can't dwell on it forever. I knew I would see them again sooner or later. I had other equipment that is suppose to arrive in about the same time so I couldn’t slack off. I kept moving and after about an hour of walking, my hooves began to ache. Carrying this by myself wasn't such a smart move, especially when I wasn’t such a strong earth pony. Ah, I knew I regret this but somehow, it slipped my mind on how heavy this was.
Still, I couldn’t stop now. Maybe if I was lucky, I might of found a place or somepony that could of helped. I kept moving and as I did, I realized it was midday. I didn't have the time on me but if I had to guess, it's close to one in the afternoon. I decided to stop for a moment to grab the basket my parents handed to me. I shuffled through the back of the cart to find it. I should've been more organized with everything... After going through it, I found it. It contained apples, oats, corn, and oranges. It was so cluttered, I'm more surprised it didn't get squashed in there.
I took an orange out and placed the basket in the front so it wouldn't be fruit juice. I continued walking while taking a bite of the peeled orange. It was pretty good and it helped me power through the journey. I kept up the pace for what I thought was hours and I noticed that Luna’s moon had risen. I decided that I had walked long enough and set up for the night. I went to the cart and grabbed a pitching tent and after taking sometime of fumbling with nets and wires, I manage to set it up. I moved the cart closer to the tent so I could tell if something or somepony tried to go through it. I knew that I was close to Canterlot. If I kept pushing forward, I may get there by the end of the day tomorrow. I closed my eyes and went to sleep.

I woke up to the sun barely poking over the horizon. Ah, day two... I looked over to the cart and nothing seemed to be missing. However on a closer inspection some food had disappeared. It was then I heard cracking of twigs next to it and saw somepony. I quickly jumped in front of him before he could escape.
"What do you think you're doing?!" I asked, angrily ready to give him Tartarus.
He looked at me with fear in his eyes and his wings closely tucked in, paralyzed like a defenseless rabbit. I calmed down and asked again.
"Sorry... I-I was just hungry and I have been traveling for quite a while. When I smelled food from that cart, I couldn't help myself. I knew it was wrong but I hadn't eaten in days." He winced.
I gave a big sigh of relief. I thought it was a dangerous pony I was dealing with. I let him go and asked,
"So where are you going?"
"Well, I was on my way to Neighagara Falls and got myself lost. You wouldn't happen to know where it is do you?" He asked like a lost child in a market.
I've heard of it but never been there. If memory serves, it should be near Canterlot.
"I believe it's near Canterlot but a bit more up." I told him.
He smiled and asked,
"If it's not to much trouble, mind if I ask for your name?"
"It's Nutmeg."
"Oh, So your musky. Nice. Well, the names Leaf."
"Well Leaf, if you were hungry, all you had to do was ask, and I would have been more then happy to give you some food."
"Yea sorry... Say, where are you heading?"
"I'm on my way to Canterlot now. I plan on opening a baking store there. I just headed out yesterday."
"Well... Tell you what. I'll help you carry that cart to make up for the food I took. How does that sound?" He asked with a smile.
Well I can use the help. I barely survived yesterday and considering how heavy it is, I guess it wouldn't hurt.
"Ok, I'll take you up on your offer." I said.
I grabbed the tent equipment and after folding it up, I placed it back into the cart. With that done, we moved out. After a few minutes of no words exchanged, I decided to strike up a conversation.
"So, why are you heading to Neighagara Falls exactly?" I asked.
"I heard the view was amazing and since I'm a traveler, I had to give it a short."
A traveler, huh? I dreamed of being one but I knew I would be gone all the time. At least with baking, you can take a break from and it's not a thousand degrees out... metaphorically speaking.
"So where're you from?" I stroke up another question.
"I lived in Los Pegasus but I grew bored there so I decided to go see the world. I bet you're wondering why I'm not flying aren't you? Well, the answer's simple. I like to walk place to place so I can see everything up close. I hate keeping my head in the clouds both metaphorically and literally. Clouds dry up and disappear while the real world stays on the ground "
I supposed that made sense but I failed to see how he was starving if he can just fly place to place. I was almost jealous to be honest. As we kept talking, I noticed he was getting tired.
"I can take over if you want." I said.
He shook his head.
"Na. Don't worry about it. But it's not to much trouble, can you hand me an apple from your basket?"
I nodded and went in the back to grab the fruit. I tossed him the apple.
"Thanks." He said catching it with one hoof.
He took a bite and we continued on our journey . Time flew and we talked night came I started to notice lights in the distance. Maybe a camp was nearby. As we moved closer to it, I saw it. Canterlot. A city blooming with towers, brightly shining through the darkness of the night. Finally, we made it and with a day to spare. I was almost there but it would still take a good few hours to get there
"Ok, you can stop carrying the cart now." I told him.
He stopped and I unhooked the harness off him.
"Could you grab the tent please?" I asked.
He nodded and went behind the cart shuffling through it. I looked at the city getting lost in all of its beauty. All of a sudden I was startled by Leaf moving the tent in front of my face.
"Oh, Sorry. I was just letting you know that I got it." He said.
I thanked him and started to set up the tent. I hadn't account for another pony so there wasn't enough room for both of us.
"Leaf, you can take the tent if you want. I'll be up for a bit."
"Thanks." He smiled.
He went in and almost immediately, I heard him snoring. Hmm, he must have been tired after carrying the cart. Can't blame him though. I was the exact same way on the first day minus the snoring. I let out a sigh and realize I would be in Canterlot by tomorrow morning. I yawned and join Leaf in the tent...

I woke up and for some reason, the ground was shaking. Trying to get on my hooves, I hit my head on something. After looking around, I realized I was inside the cart. I tried to get my standing but it was too wobbly to even focus my eyes. I look outside and realize I was in the air. How or rather why am I in the air? More importantly, where's Leaf? I was tempted to look down but I knew I might get woozy if I did. After a few minutes, the cart landed on the ground. I got out and saw that it was Leaf.
"Were here." He said.
I looked around and realize we were in Canterlot. I was surprised we got here so quickly.
"You flew this thing by yourself?" I asked in amazement.
He nodded.
"You did want to get here asap so I thought, 'why not?'."
"Well... Thanks. I assume you're going to go to Neighagara Falls now?"
"Yea. I hope your bakery becomes a hit. Well, adventure isn’t going to find me. See ya." He said, flying away.
I waved back at him until he disappeared out of sight.
Today was going to be a new day.
I looked at a sign. It read, "Equestrian Quake Cakes". Well, not exactly what I had in mind but I could change it later. I looked inside a storage compartment and it appeared most of the other boxes were there stacked neatly. Well, that was a good sign. I looked outside and it was pretty busy on the streets. Ponies hustling and bustling on their daily routines, mail mares zooming on a tight schedule and royal guards patrolling with their finest armor. It was best if I hurried up and set up the shop. It was mid-noon judging from the angle of the sun. There were no clouds in the sky. A bit hot but otherwise a perfect day. I was glad Leaf showed up when he did or I might not be here for at least another day.
I went to the door and found it unlocked. Weird but I guessed they had expected me to appear within a short time so I digressed. I walked in and there was no real design to the place with the expectation of plain wallpaper. The exterior walls were brand new and it felt like a new modern fashion. Of course, I'm no expert so I could be wrong. It had gray and brown colors plastid on it. Not the best look but beggars can’t be choosers. The front windows looked like they had been cleaned recently. You could practically eat off it... if that was possible. From there on out, I had to push myself to become the best baker in Equestria. I couldn’t let my parents down.
In exchange for being independent, I couldn’t blame anyone else but myself if anything happened. I was a bit worried since I was by myself... and homesick but I smiled and knew this was a new chapter in my life. Now, was the time to start putting everything away and afterwards dust up whatever they missed. I noticed the keys were on the counter. I grabbed them and took a deep breath, smelling the new bakery scent As I looked around some more, I noticed two very big crates near the counter. I didn't recognize these nor did I order anything like it. There were labels on there stating, 'Heavy,fragile, Make sure it's right side up, do not throw it or expose it to any naked flames'.
These labels were a bit overkill even for me. I wondered if my parents sent me something. Either that or they’re the baking supplies I ordered. I couldn’t rule out the possibility. These crates looked similar to what I had in the cart but still... I didn't see any tags labeling where they came from. Only one way to find out... As I was about to open the boxes, I saw it move a little.
"Achoo!" The crate slightly bounced up.
What the?! Just then, I heard some kind of moaning. Uh... is there some kind of animal in there?
"Ouch..." The voice said, softly.
That voice... Could it be...?
"Na, Probably just my imagination." I sarcastically said.
"That was close... Looks like I fooled him. I better be careful from now on." The crate loudly replied.
"Nice try! Like I didn't know it was you. What are you doing in there, Cinnamon?" I asked.
The crate opened up and then appeared my closest friend, Cinnamon. She chuckled as leaned out.
"Hey there, Nutmeg... Didn't expect you to find me~." She smiled stretching her cramped wings out..
"I've got questions... One, what are you doing here? Two, how did you manage to survive in there for three days?" I asked, confused.
"Well, I wanted to tag along with you. I knew you be lonely without us."
"Us?" I asked.
"Those other ponies were mean though. They picked me up, right? And they said, 'It was heavy, so don't mess with it too much.’ I wanted to give them a piece of my mind but I didn't want to be left behind but I was upset, I really was!" She said, pouting through her nostrils.
She ignored my question and was acting childish... not that it was any different from her usual self.
"Well, to be fair, you could loosen up on my baking." I jokingly giggled.
She seem to ignore my comment and puffed her cheeks. Ah Cinnamon, She's a happy-go-lucky type of mare. She tends to only focus on what's going on in front of her and almost never gets angry. Well, that's the best way to describe her anyways. But then where was...
"That explains why I didn't see you or Blossom went I was leaving..." I said, still confused.
Just then, I heard another sneeze. This time, coming from the other crate. I'm assuming it was her. I opened the crate and there sitting at the bottom was a unicorn.
"Hey there, Nutmeg... The inside of the box was getting dusty so, I was unable to hold back from sneezing." Blossom said in a monotone voice.
"Dare I ask why she's here as well...?" I pointed at her trying to get my head around the confusion .
"Same reason Cinnamon is. I would also like to add that the other ponies said the same thing to me as well... I was also upset as well." She said again in her monotone voice.
"Uh... What?" I tilted my head. "In any event, get out of the crate."
They got up and dusted themselves off. Blossom is the exact opposite of Cinnamon. She's very quiet most of the time and speaks in a monotone which makes it difficult to tell if she's mad or not. I was more concerned they appeared at all. There was no way those two could have sent themselves and I had a strong suspicion that my sister has something to do with this. How she could have done this is beyond my imagination. For one, sending living things that can die if they are in there for a long period of time. That might also explain why she wasn't there either. I guess I couldn’t complain. After all, they are my friends.
"This is such a lovely place! I love the smell and look of everything here!" Cinnamon trotted.
"She's right... This is Nutmeg's inventive at work." Blossom complemented.
"Blossom, Check it out! There's an upstairs as well. Time to explore!" She said running off.
"Just don't break anything!" I yelled.
I shook my head and smiled. Blossom stood in front of me with a faint smile.
"I'm guessing the upstairs is a place to live." Blossom asked
"Ah~! It's a whole other place up here! A living room, a view, it has everything!" Cinnamon yelled from upstairs.
"I must see it for myself." Blossom said, walked towards the stairs.
"Just don't get carried away..." I warned
"Ok~!" Cinnamon yelled.
The last thing I needed is to fix a room. Then again, I was not to worried about Blossom since she tended to be very discreet. I was more worried about Cinnamon to be honest. And with that, my new life has just become weirder by the minute. Well, at least I could live in the bakery and not have to go looking for a place. That saved a lot of money for me. I guessed I should write to my parent letting them know I made it safely. I went out to get some paper and ink to write but before doing so, I went to check up on them. As I walked upstairs, something or rather, Cinnamon crashed into me. We fell backwards down the stairs and while I was bruised, nothing was broken at least.
"I just finished checking everything out~!" She said.
She got up and Blossom appeared as well.
"Everything looks nice. A passable score." Blossom said.
"That's... great." I gasped out as pain chewed on my skin.
I got up and noticed their manes were messed up. I dusted their heads to clear up the dust.
They both thanked me.
Their manes were always smooth while mine tends to be nappy. I was almost jealous in a way. After I finished that, I asked,"I'm going out to get some ink and paper. Could you guys help out by sorting everything out?"
They nodded and went outside to get the remaining stuff. I sighed realizing how crazy things had gotten. I went out and it looked like night was about to appear and the city was peaceful and quiet. I walked around and there was barely a pony in sight. Some places were still open and I had realized that I didn't know where the place was. I looked around and saw somepony. I went over to them and asked for directions to a ink and paper store.
She pointed over to about a few feet behind her. I thanked her and went towards . After about a minute of walking, I noticed the store. I went inside and saw a mare working at the cash register.
"Welcome." She said with a friendly smile.
"Thanks. I'll be in and out in a second." I said.
I grabbed a basket and started to grabbed a stack of paper and some ink. After that, I went up to the cash register and handed the material over. She took a few seconds to add up the amount.
"That will be three-fifty bits please." She said.
I grabbed my bag and handed the bits over. She thanked me and I left the store. As I was on my way back to the store/house, I realize I hadn't had anything all day and I'm sure those two haven't had anything either. I looked around and saw no stores open at this hour so I had to just eat what was left of the basket. When I walked into my store everything was a mess. Flour on the floor, kitchen utensils rolling everywhere and my apron somehow sticking to the ceiling.
"What happen?" I asked.
Cinnamon was nowhere to be seen and I spotted Blossom in the cabinets. She came out and said,
"We were moving things in liked you asked. Unfortunately, Cinnamon didn't like the way I was doing it and went upstairs to do what she wanted."
Well, that explains why she's not in the room.
"Stay here can tidy up the place. I'll get Cinnamon." I told her.
She nodded and went back to work. I went upstairs and it was somehow even more chaotic then downstairs was. I looked around and spotted her on the couch. I walked up to her and was about to wake her up but she seemed to be having a bad dream. She was shaking and appeared to be frowning. I didn't want to make it worse so I grabbed a blanket and put it on her. After that, I went back downstairs and said to Blossom,
"She's asleep. She must have been tired from running around all day. Let's clear this place up and we’ll eat."
"I am in your debt." She said.
I hate it when she does that. She doesn't owe me anything. I laughed it off and we started to clean up. It took us about an hour to tidy up the mess. I noticed the food that was in the basket was near the front door. I grabbed it and handed her some oats to her.
"Thanks." She said with a smile.
"After you finish eating, You can go rest. I'll take the upstairs."
She had a concerned look on her face.
"Don't worry about me. It's not too bad." I told her.
She didn't seem to believe me but didn't reply back. I went back upstairs and started to clean up the place. Lucky, most of the mess up here was easier to clean up.. Afterwards, I got into my bed and went to sleep. Tomorrow was going to be a new day…
Another day, another event
Outside, the robins began to sing their songs, greeting the morning. I got up and noticed Blossom standing in one of the dark corners staring at me. Her eyes slightly glowed like shining a torch towards a cat’s eyes. I jumped in surprised messing up the bed sheets.
"AH!" I screamed like a little filly.
"Morning, Nutmeg." She said in her usual monotone voice.
"How long have you been there?" I asked a bit agitated and shocked.
"About the break of dawn."
Uh... ok then.
"And what about Cinnamon?" I asked.
"She is still asleep." She looked towards the couch Cinnamon was on.
"Well, wake her up please. We need to go shopping."
She nodded and left the room. I swear, she could scare anypony without trying. I got up and stretched my hooves. I bet Cinnamon was starving by now since she had not eaten anything yesterday. I opened the door and I noticed Cinnamon was playing with Blossom, messing with her hair.
"Morning, Cinnamon. I hope you slept well." I waved.
"Like a fluffy cloud." She jumped like a spring.
At least she was in a better mood.
"Anyways, We need to go shopping so unless you need to do something, let's go." I beckoned for them to follow.
"Yay!" Cinnamon yelled.
"No objections from me." Blossom emotionlessly added.
We headed out of the store and locked it behind us. After a short stroll down the streets we saw a bakery store that had what we needed.
"Shopping with you guys is fun~!" Cinnamon said cheerfully bouncing along my side.
"This is the first time we've gone shopping in awhile... That's why she's in such a good mood." Blossom said.
"Looks like Blossom is also happy to be here! Come on, show us a smile~!" Cinnamon said pulling her cheeks.
"Cinnamon, that tickles...!" Blossom said emotionless.
As Cinnamon kept pulling her cheeks, I started to noticed many eyes from all directions looking at us.
"Uh ladies, I hate to be a downer but other ponies are watching us. Try to be careful, ok?" I asked, nicely.
My words fell on deaf ears as Cinnamon kept pulling Blossom's cheeks playfully. I decided to break it up and said,
"Let's focus on the task at hand. Cinnamon, I need you to get groceries so we can have something to eat. Blossom, I need you to get the ingredients for bread. I'll go look around for books on how to cook. Got it?" I asked.
"Yep!" Cinnamon yelled.
"No problem." Blossom said with a faint smile.
"Just don't cause so much ruckus... especially you, Cinnamon, ok?" I pointed to her.
"Oh... You have no trust in me~," She said, pouting.
It's not that... well, I'm sure she was going to do just fine. I just smiled and handed them each fifty bits and a list I prepared last night. As I did that, they headed in different directions. Cinnamon ran towards the groceries and Blossom walked to the ingredients store. I went inside a bookstore to be ringed by the bell on the door and saw mountains of books stacked in shelves. I asked the cashier where the baking and cooking books were. He pointed over towards the end of the store. You would think it would be near the front since it would start with a B or C but I wasn’t the owner of this shop. I walked over to where the books were and looked at each row. It was kind of difficult to find with all these books laying on top of each other with their spines inside. I took a deep breath and looked one by one. After what felt like how long Celestia ruled over Equestria, I found a good book. As I was pulling the book out, I heard the front door bell ring.
"Nutmeg, I got the groceries!" Cinnamon yelled almost causing an earthquake in the building.
She pounced like a lion on me and the whole stack of books fell down on us. I quickly tried to tidy up the mess, but unfortunately the owner appeared before us.
"You know how long it took me to stack those up?!" He complained.
Honestly, I didn't care but I couldn't leave it the way it was. I decided to clean it up. Of course, I had Cinnamon help out as well. After about fifteen minutes, we got it back together. I grabbed the book and paid for it. We left the store and I noticed the bags Cinnamon had.
"What did you get?" I asked.
"Some sweets~!" She replied.
"No seriously, what did you get?" I said with a serious face.
"Candy!" She replied, oblivious to my expression.
My eye twitched as she said that. Not out of anger but more of... confusion for a lack of a better word. At that moment, Blossom showed up.
"You do realize we need more than just sweets right?!" I asked, somewhat concerned and annoyed. "I should've expected this though. Sweets are your favorite thing after all."
"Aw~. Nutmeg, you’re mean, it feels like you would hit me..." She said in an obviously fake cry. I always wondered why she never had gotten into trouble before.
"Don't cry, Cinnamon. Nutmeg is just a mean pony, isn't he?" Blossom asked looking at me with her emotionless face, but I could see a deeper expression.
Aw no...
"Whoa, don't make me out to be the bad guy." I said, holding my two front hooves up.
"It seems his defense is up." Blossom said coldly.
If there was one thing I couldn’t do, it was to win an argument with Blossom or to complain... I couldn’t let them take advantage of my weakness or they would win. Blossom went over to the store and got another basket.
"Wait, where are you going?" I asked.
"Buying more stuff." She replied, coldly.
Ah... Now I'm labeled as the bad guy here. Great. I should have known this would be a bad idea.
"Sorry, Nutmeg~." Cinnamon said, cheering up.
While she said that, I noticed Blossom dropped something in the basket.
"It's fine but... Don't be dropping stuff in there like I'm not going to notice. Put it back." I said, annoyed.
"Don't be like that, Nutmeg~! Please? I'm begging with all my heart~! Please?" Cinnamon asked nicely.
"It would make us sad if we had nothing to wash our manes with. Don't be mean." Blossom said, emotionless.
"That guy won't even buy them one thing... The poor mares." Said one of the bystanders.
"Maybe we should have the royal guards take him away." Said another bystander.
They looked in different directions as they said that.
"Don't put on a confused act with everypony staring! Come on!" I said, confused.
I just moved into Canterlot and already I'm getting bad looks.
"Ok, Ok, you can get it..." I said finally backing down.
Jeez, they could nickel and dime other ponies if they wanted. I swear, these two are more trouble than they are worth... At any rate, we walked away before more attraction was drawn to us. It was getting close to night time as we were walking home.
"This sure was a lot of fun, Nutmeg~." Cinnamon said, happily.
For her maybe... Despite what happen, they're still my friends.
"It could have been better. He didn't let us buy everything we wanted though. Nutmeg is cheap..." Blossom added.
"I'm not cheap. We just don't have a lot of bits to be spending... Besides, I was almost blacklisted because of you." I told her.
It's bad enough I'll be labeled as a bad pony, but I don't think I'll be able to go to that street anytime soon... Well I guess that's the up/downside to having these two as my friends. Suddenly, I noticed Blossom smelling something.
"I smell something nice nearby." She said, pointing her hoof.
Now that I think about, I'm noticing it as well. What is it though...? I turned my head towards the source of the smell. We walked over to the source. We see a stand with a mare behind it.
"Welcome!" She said with a smile.
"Would you like to try some flower sandwiches?" She presented them like as if they were made of gold.
I really didn't want to get anything else but I knew I couldn't win with these two. On top of that, I don't want to make the same mistake. So I just bought three of them.
"Thanks~!" Cinnamon yelled happily.
"Thank you." Blossom said with a faint smile.
Cinnamon ate hers rather quickly while Blossom ate hers slowly. The three began talking to each other while I sat down. I could use a break after what happen earlier. They talked for I believe was about an half an hour but that was fine. They seem to be getting along just fine so I couldn’t complain. I must say, I never expected this to happen. I had my whole life planned out but because of these two, the plan had changed. I was not complaining. It was a nice change of pace after all. In a way, I was glad they showed up. I gave a smile realizing that everything was going to just be just fine.
As the stand was closing, I got up and the two mares walked over to me. We started to head home and it was then I noticed it was night time. We got home and placed everything away. Cinnamon went upstairs right after that and Blossom was looking around. I grabbed a piece of paper and some ink and started writing.
'Hey Mom & Dad, Sorry I hadn't sent you guys a letter yet. I've had... unexpected visitors appear. It's a lovely place with a lot of cool places to see. I hope everything is well with you guys. Love you.'
After I finished writing that, I got up and went outside to put it in the mailbox. As I walked back inside, I looked over the clock and it showed to be around 9 at night. I turned my attrition back to Blossom and Cinnamon appeared inches from my face. It scared the daylights out of me I'll tell you that.
"Hey!" Cinnamon said happily.
I was still recovering from what felt like an heart attack.
"H-Hi..." I said, still surprised.
"I noticed that you haven't bathed since we've been here. You want me to wash you?"
"Uh... that won't be necessary... I'm good, thanks."
"I'm going to take a bath first. Don't think about sneaking a peek..." Blossom said, coldly.
Since when have I even done that...?
"What are you talking about? I wouldn't dream of it." I said.
She didn't believe me although to be fair, I could see their point...
"In any event... After you finish taking a bath, I'll get a ride to take you home." I said.
Both of them looked around confused.
"Getting a ride home?" Cinnamon asked, confused.
I nodded.
"But I thought this was our home to~." Cinnamon said, smiling.
"And where she goes, I follow as well..." Blossom added.
"I see what your trying to do so you can stop playing ignorant." I said, baffled.
I could tell they were about to distract me again when they suddenly looked at me.
"It's late but I'm sure I can get you guys a ride if I act quickly." I said, calmly.
They both looked away as I said that. It was not that I don't want them around but... I rather not suck them into this. I moved so I can fend for myself and not have to rely on anypony else. I realize it's stupid I didn't mention this before hoof but I didn't think they would stick around for long. This wasn't the time for games. They were still silent as I looked at them and continued talking.
"It's not that you're not welcome... It's just I'm starting the bakery shortly and who know what will happen once that happens? With me starting a business, I have to start in order to make things work. With that said, I don't know if I can take care of both of you while I'm focused on the business. Understand?" I asked, "I mean, It's already hard enough to work on my own bu-"
"You..."
Cinnamon said something but it was barely audible. I lean my head down and asked,
"What did you say?"
"You're so dumb! I refuse to go back! I hate you for saying that!" Cinnamon yelled.
As she said that, she ran upstairs.
"Wha-? Whoa, wait a minute! Hey Cinnamon?" I asked, confused.
I turned my attention to Blossom who was quiet during the whole thing. Finally she spoke.
"If that is how you feel, I too, will depart with great haste..." She emotionlessly said, slowly walking upstairs.
I tried to stop her but my words fell on deaf ears. Why was she running away as well? I mean, I expect this type of thing from Cinnamon but this seemed serious even for her. I went upstairs to try and fix what I did. As I arrived, I saw Cinnamon in front of me.
"Over here, over here, Nutmeg~! I'm right here~!" She tauntingly said, hovering in the middle of the room.
"It's too dangerous to be flying up here. If you crash into something, you'll hurt yourself." I said, warning her.
Suddenly, I heard a voice behind me.
"There's no reason to worry. She may be hyper but she has survived whatever she's hit before." Blossom said with a faint smile.
Well, she's not wrong but still...
"I can understand why you say that with her but what about you? Aren't you bad with physical related activities?" I asked, concerned.
She only smiled as I asked her that.
"Well, I guess I'll have to catch you then. Come here, Cinnamon!" I said, smiling.
As I ran around the place trying to get her, she kept evading me. It's easier said than done when she can fly when as I cannot. After about a few minutes of running, I finally caught her, but not without some damage done to the room.
"Wha-! Aw, you got me." Cinnamon said, jokingly.
I let her go thinking she surrendered.
"Oh~ I see a opening~!" Cinnamon said tickling me.
"Hey, whoa, stop it! Yo-you're still trying to run?" I asked trying to get my words out.
As Blossom walked closer, I grabbed her as well.
"Ah, I got you!" I said.
Cinnamon continued to tickle me which made it impossible to not laugh.
"What a min- Cinn- Ok sto- uwahahahah. " I said, laughing.
"Perfect. Now time for double tickle attack." Blossom said, tickling me as well.
I tried to get them to stop but they overpowered me with no effort. Was this their plan all along? I couldn't speak due to them continue to them tickling me. And after a few minutes, they stopped. We were short of breath which made us tired... After we caught our breath, they took a shower as I waited. After about twenty minutes, I took my shower and after a few minutes, I got out as well. They were on the couch as I came out. I guess one more night won't hurt.
"Alright, I'll let you two stay another night, however... I don't have anywhere for you two to sleep." I said.
I looked over to the clock and it went from nine at night to one in the morning. Time sure went by quickly. When I get up, I'll get a cab to take them home. That's was my number one priority.
"I guess we can sleep on the bed! Cinnamon said, happily.
"I have no objections to that." Blossom said with a faint smile.
It just occurred to me that they must have planned this from the get-go. How much planning went into this is beyond me... It's almost scary when you think about it.
"Alright. If that's the case, I'll sleep on the couch then." I said.
As I said that, Cinnamon looked surprised at my comment.
"What?! You aren't going to sleep with us?!"
"It seems he is uncomfortable with us. If that's the case, you and Cinnamon can take the bad while I sleep on the couch..." Blossom said, sadly.
"Aw~ The three of us being together makes me happy." Cinnamon said.
"Don't get ahead of yourself now... A single bed with all of us would be to much. Besides, isn't there some type of rule that prevents this type of thing?" I asked, confused.
They didn't seem to mind but still...
"It's ok, we're fine with sleeping on the couch." She said, smiling.
"I have no objection with this." Blossom said, with a slight smile.
The couch looked like it would only fit one of them. Besides, it wouldn't be nice to let them sleep on a old couch anyways. This was way to painful for them to do this.
"We will manage for the night. Don't worry about us." Blossom said.
"No... No, I won't allow it. You can take the bed." I said.
"So, you're sleeping on the bed with us?" Cinnamon asked.
"I'm going to sleep on the couch in the living room. It can fit one pony and if it gets hot, I can open the window." I said.
"But it's not right! If you're going to do that, then I'll sleep in there! Please sleep in here with Blossom then!" She yelled.
"I don't mind taking the couch. It's better if you to sleep on the bed..." Blossom said shaking her head.
They moved closer to me but I knew that I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if one of them sleep with what looks like an uncomfortable couch. I looked at them dead center and spoke in a clear and stern voice.
"Look, I will sleep on the couch and you two will sleep on the bed. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if you weren't comfortable. Understand?” My eyes narrowed..
It seems I finally got through but they didn't like my answer. They agreed but were reluctant in the process. They frowned but I knew it was for the best. They looked like they wanted to speak up but hesitated to do so.
"Sorry..." They both said in unison.
They looked like they were on the verge of tears. This had an exact opposite effect of what I expected. I felt guilty but I don't understand why. I felt a sharp pain in my chest. I had to power through it so I smiled and said,
"Don't worry about me. I'm doing this because I want to. Don't feel bad."
They nodded and slowly walked to the bed. I grabbed the blankets that were across the room and they were still looking at me with sad eyes.
"Good night. If anything happens, let me know, ok? I said.
They didn't speak but nodded to let me know they understood.
"See you in the morning." I said.
After I said that, I turned off the lights and just as I was about to close the door, Cinnamon spoke.
"Nutmeg..." She said, sadly.
"Yes?" I asked.
"I'm sorry about earlier... at the store, in the streets, about everything. I caused you so much trouble today..." She said, about to cry.
Despite the darkness, I heard what she said, albeit, barely. The pain in my heart became even sharper. I calmed down and walked over to her and lightly held her.
"It's ok. I realize that I was to harsh on you two. I just wished realized I had seen it sooner. I should have been nicer to you and not lashed out..." I said, calmly.
"But..."
"Don't worry about it. Now, go to sleep." I smiled..
I walked out and closed the door behind me. I shouldn't have acted on emotion... I knew they meant well and I let my business cloud my judgment. Some friend I was... I fell on the couch hard and thought over what she said earlier...
'Your so dumb! ! I hate you for saying that'
Maybe I was just blind for not seeing it earlier. I let out a deep breath while staring at the ceiling. If I let my judgment get clouded, I would only add more sadness to it. That is why I try to stay happy and kind just Cinnamon. But... I realize that in doing so, the only thing that comes out of my mouth are lies. While I did leave to start a business, I also left so I wouldn't be holding back everypony else... I keep telling myself I'm not running away but I know it's a lie. I rely on other's happiness to not think of the bad side of things. I need to make it up to them tomorrow... While I thought of how, I closed my eyes and waited for sleep to take over.
Tomorrow was going to be a new day.
I woke up and looked at the clock. It was six in the morning and not a sound to be heard. I walked over to the room and looked inside. They were still asleep so I closed the door and went downstairs. Through the front window I noticed the mail pony put something in the mailbox. After about a few seconds, I went outside to see what I got. There were two letters in there. I saw the first one was from my parents and the second one was from- Lime?! I didn't expect her to write to me so quickly. I ripped it open to see what it said.
Dear Nutmeg,
I noticed you left without saying goodbye to your little sis. I realize I wasn't there but you couldn't wait? Anyways, you should have gotten two big crates. If so, you must realize that it was me who sent them there. In regards to that, it was both Cinnamon and Blossom's idea to get there. I wanted to respect their intentions and help them however I can. I have a feeling that you wouldn’t want them there. If they both agree, I will send somepony over there to get them. I hope everything is well. Love you big brother.

So it was her... I had a strong feeling it was but still... I'm just glad she finally responded. Unfortunately, she didn’t give me a clearcut answer to get a straight answer so... I realize that even if she says that, there's a very strong chance they won't leave on their own... As I looked at the paper over and over again, I realize there was more to this than meets the eye. As I walked back upstairs, I smelled something really good. I looked around to find the source and saw that they were both up and made breakfast. Cinnamon ate her food as fast the eye can see while Blossom hadn't even sat down yet.
"Soooo good!" Cinnamon said, cheerfully.
"Cinnamon, you got some egg on your cheek." Blossom said, cleaning it off.
I noticed another plate that had some eggs as well.
"I would ask when you got food but... thanks is in order so... thanks." I said with a smile.
I took my time to eat it. After about two minutes, the plate was empty. I wiped off the mess on my face and asked,
"So, what do you two have planned for today?"
"Is it not fun having us around? Is that why you're pushing us away?" Cinnamon asked, "Being here with you two is a lot of fun, you know? With you, it's always a fun day!" She said, smiling.
"It's not that... Ah, stop deliberately misleading me with words." I said.
There was no getting through with miss happy-go-lucky and monotone mare here. I took the opportunity to grab Cinnamon's plate and cleaned up. Cinnamon's eat habits were pretty crazy while Blossom tends to be patent with her food. In the end, It's pretty straightforward with them. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get everything done yesterday so today, I really got to opening the bakery or I will fall even more behind. I can't relax and play games forever... I turned my attraction back to them and knew I had to be serious.
"I don't have time to joke around so I'll get a cab for the two of you." I said, seriously.
"So it's true... We are causing you problems..." She said, sadly.
It's just like yesterday she said it in the same tone of voice.
"It's not that but..." I said, trying to be nice.
I knew that if I didn't stand my ground, they would only get sucked in.
"It is a problem." I told her.
It was a lie but I didn't want them to be stuck doing nothing. Despite my best intentions, I knew it would hurt.
"I see... So that's how it is then..." She said, even sadder than before.
My heart hurt even more know that not only am I pushing my two closest friends away but failing to do so without heartache.
"Cinnamon..." Blossom said, with a sad voice.
Unable to make this any brighter, Blossom could only look on with concern. After a few seconds of silence, Cinnamon walked out of the room and Blossom followed. I knew there was nothing I could say that would fix this... I just wanted them to be happy on their own and do their own thing. I didn't want them to be sad but unfortunately, it didn't work... The pain from last night came back and I felt a hole in my stomach... I pushed my chair up as my emotions dulled, unhampered by my judgment. All of a sudden, I heard steps coming near me. I turned around and saw it was Cinnamon.
"I... No, Blossom and I want to be with you." She said still sadden.
Despite her usually cheerful self, she looked at me with serious eyes and I could tell she wasn't joking. She was speaking clearly under her own desire.
"I also wish for the same thing. I don't wish for us to be apart." Blossom said, clearly.
Her usual emotionless expression didn't break but I could tell that she also desired the same thing. I can't remember the last time they were this persistent about something. I remembered Cinnamon's expression and body language from the night before. Maybe this is what she was worried about? If I had known they felt this strongly about it, I wouldn't have tried to push them away.
"That..." I whispered.
Just then, I heard the door open downstairs. I along with Cinnamon and Blossom went downstairs. I saw that it was some mare I didn't recognize. She had boxes behind her.
"Is this Nutmeg's residence?" The mare asked looking at her clipboard.
"It is." I replied.
"I'm here to deliver the tea and bread maker you ordered. If everything is in order, could you please sign this?" She asked.
I nodded and looked at the boxes. I noticed that they looked different then what I order.
"These look different than what I ordered." I told her.
"Is that so? Are you implying that these aren't the right items?" She asked.
I shook my head and replied,"No, everything is accounted for but..."
I looked at the boxes piled around the store. There was way more then what I order. I don't think I can put everything away here...
"As you can see, there are too many tableware inside the place as it is..." I said.
"My seniority apologizes. I'll check the list again. Can you wait a few minutes?" She asked.
I nodded and she looked at the list once more. After about a few minutes, she sighed and said,"Sorry for the confusion. It appears I added more than what you needed. If it's possible, could you hold on to this until we get somepony down here to take care of the rest?"
I nodded and took the receipt. This is cluttering up the space but how do I go about it? On top of that, looking at the receipt, I can see they contained expensive tea sets and amongst other things. Even if I did take it all, it was much more then I needed right now.
"I suppose there's still stuff that I need to do to advance the opening, so I guess it's a blessing.
However, it will take quite a while before I can sort everything out." I told her.
"I don't mind helping out to make up for the mix up." She said, voluntarily.
"It's alright. You have to maintain your job and I rather not hold you back because of it." I said, insuring her.
Judging from the look of it, it might take me the whole day. Besides, redelivering it all would take much longer than needed... I spotted Cinnamon and Blossom from the corner of my eye staring at me.
"Looks as if I have a lifeline!" I yelled.
They were alarmed by my shouting but they knew what I meant. They started to help put everything away. After about half a day, the store no longer had a storage problem.
"Thank you for the help." The mare said with a smile.
As she said that, she left. Ah, my back ached... and to think I would do that all by myself was a smart idea... I looked over to the organized tableware and sat down on one of the chairs. I noticed Cinnamon doing something in the background although, I couldn't tell what. I laid my head down and after about a minute, I felt a tap on my shoulder.
"Nutmeg, here's some cold tea. I hope you enjoy it~!" She said, winking at me.
"Thanks." I said with a smile.
I slowly drank the tea and loved every bit of it. I'm just glad the light material showed up. Now I really had to get ready to open up shop. I know I said I needed to do this on my own but... She was staring at me once again and I could tell she wanted to be praised. She had a wide smile and looked at me with puppy dog eyes.
"Thanks. It was really sweet." I said.
She cheered and I realized that maybe I was the blind one... It's because of Cinnamon and Blossom that i was able to finish this at all.
"So I was helpful, right? Right?! It can be difficult to do everything yourself, after all." She said inching closer.
"It is. There is no shame in asking for help. If not for us, I can imagine you would be stressed from all of this." Blossom said, calmly.
They were practically inches from my face.
"You two are getting a bit close don't you think...?" I asked, concerned.
It seems my words fell on deaf ears since they continued to lean forward. They do have a point though... If not for them, I wouldn't have gotten this much done.
"While you two have a point, I left home to not drag anypony else down. Surely, you two have your own dreams and ideas for the world. I don't want you guys to have to constantly be asked to do a lot, ok?" I said to them.
And with that, they slowly backed up without their smiles by my response.
"I... see. I guess it's no use, huh...?" Cinnamon asked.
The eagerness and passion she was showing before had completely dissolve into sadness. She sighed deeply and looked at me discouraged.
“I'll go clean up and be out of your way shortly..." She said walking away.
Still dispirited, she stumbled upstairs. I knew what I said was heartless but I knew in the end, they will understand. She isn't dumb. I knew she was going out of her way to help me with that cheerful like actions. This was something I couldn't change my mind about. She can use that energy of hers to help everypony else even though she cared deeply for me. I noticed Blossom hadn't moved nor spoken during the whole thing. I look at her and while she keep her calm demeanor, I could easily tell she disapproved of my answer.
"Are we that much of a bother that we are here? Are we useless in your eyes...?" She asked.
She spoke in even a smaller shy like voice than her usual means of speaking. She had tilted her head as she asked that question. I felt like the scum of Equestria history to be able to break even her. I thought long and hard about what she asked. After about a minute, I spoke.
"...You two aren't bad by any stretch of the word. It's not that your useless or not helpful. Your the opposite of that. It's for that reason that you should live your dream without me holding you or Cinnamon back. You two have so much to offer the world. Cinnamon for her happy-go-lucky attitude and loveable personality. She can help people in ways she doesn't realize. As for you, you are the calmest mare I know. You could easily think of any situation and help everyone without any trouble. I'm jealous that you two can do so much and... to tell you the truth, it's because of you two that I want to try everything by myself. I want to be useful to the world and not hold on to everypony's hoof..." I said, holding back my sadness.
"Hmm?" She asked staring at me.
I felt her stare piercing through me. Almost like she was trying to read my heart. She continued to stare at me for about three more minutes until she broke the silence with a sympathetic voice.
"...I understand what your say. However, we do not see you as a lecher. Your actions have also help us see what we are and it is for that reason that you are the best friend we could ask for. There is no reason to think you amount to nothing. In a way, it is because of you that Cinnamon is always happy. She's tried her best to be happy even after she lost her father. You are the reason she tries her hardest to help you. You are selfless and put everypony else's feelings far above your own. I hope that you will see that."
"Blossom..." I said.
"I will check on Cinnamon." She said walking away.
And with that, she went upstairs. The small but noticeable hoof steps were far way and before I know it, I could no longer hear them. They don't see me as a lecher...? I never thought I made a difference to them. I re-thought of what she said... Now that I think about it, it is illogical for me to think like that, isn't it? Maybe I've been to hard on myself. I think I'm beginning to understand what she really meant. I had a bitter smile across my face and an idea came across my mind. I went upstairs and saw Cinnamon crying with Blossom conferring her. I walked slowly to them.
“...Why don't we go out to eat?" I asked, hesitating.
They didn't respond but didn't object either. I looked outside and saw it was close to nighttime so it was now or never. Cinnamon wiped the tears off her face and walked with me. Blossom looked at me but didn't say anything. As we go out the store, I lock up behind us and we went to the park to see if the mare from before was there.
"It appears that she's not here today." Blossom said, looking around.
Despite that, we continued to walk around the park. I looked over to Cinnamon and she didn't seem to be happy or sad. Suddenly, she spoke.
"Huh? Oh, Sorry, Blossom. I was just thinking." She said, putting on a smile.
"You look a bit tired. Let's rest for a minute." I said.
Blossom shook her head and said,
"I wish to look around some more."
She gave me a wink witch at first, I didn't get but after thinking about it, maybe it had to do with Cinnamon. I nodded and she went ahead. I sat down along with Cinnamon. She was silent and had her head down which made it difficult to tell if she was sad or not. I felt the breeze rush past us and hardly a pony in sight. You could really listen to the grass rustle. I moved slightly closer to her and I could tell she was discouraged. I can't blame her. After all, it is my fault for making her feel like this.
I noticed the sun slowly setting down.
"I... will go back home" She whispered.
Though it was quiet, I could barely hear her but she spoke clearly. Without saying anything, I caressed her back trying to calm her down.
"Will it be alright if I send you mail once in awhile...?" She asked.
I nodded.
"...Would it be alright if I come visit you from time to time?" She asked.
I nodded.
"Do... Do you promise to think about us everyday...? Even if I am away from you... Nopony will replace me as...? " She asked, tearing up.
Her voice was starting to shake. I wiped away her tears but I didn't know what to say. Every time I do, I just make it worse. She was stiffing her cries and looked to be in pain as she did her best to hold her emotions. I tried to think of something, anything to let her know that everything would be fine. I couldn't say anything more than the obvious.
"... Of course I will" I said.
As I said that, she broke down and cried on my shoulder. I held her close and could her tears on my shoulder. She muffled and said,
"I'm sorry..."
I was angry at myself for not being able to say anything. I felt empty… No, that's an understatement but I could only offer her compassion that is impossible to put into words. She looked up at me with tears still in her eyes.
"You really are kind, aren't you...?" She asked, still holding back her emotions.
"I don't see myself as kind right now..." I whispered.
She smiled as I said that.
"You've said that before..." She giggled.
I have...? She closed her eyes and enjoyed the embrace.
"Do you remember? Back when we were young? You comfort me when my father died..." She said.
I remember that. It's difficult to not remember... It was raining and everypony had gathered around to say their condolences. She was crying and Blossom was there holding her hoof. I went up to her and hugged her letting her know that everything would be ok. She smiled somewhat and it was then we became friends. There's was no way I can simply forget that important day. At first, it wasn't easy since we were so different but in a way, that's what makes our bond so much stronger. We accepted our differences and powered through them.
"I would be lying if I didn't say it was strange at first but with your happy personality and her quiet but helpful advice, we became closer." I told her.
"I was scared back then that I wouldn't get over my father's death but because of you, your selfless actions and words, I was able to smile again and I can't never thank you enough..." She said.
As we kept talking, I started to hear a bit of happiness in her voice come back.
"Do you remember when I had a fever, you came over and watched over me when nopony else could...?" She asked.
"Yea... I remember that." I replied.
She couldn't eat at all and only a few times where she could drink water. I remember growing worried as she kept getting sicker and sicker by the hour and because she was drenched from the rain earlier that day which made her even weaker. Blossom was also sick but it wasn't as severe. Cinnamon would muffle her cries of pain.
"I tried my best to hide it but I was scared, hungry and in pain. I did it so I wouldn't make you worry but despite what I told you, you stayed by my side. I had a hard time speaking and could hardly move at all. If you hadn't been here taking care of me... Who knows what would have happened? Your words... I will never forget them. You said, 'It's alright. I'm here with you. I will not leave your side.'. You kept saying it over and over while making sure that I was ok. Hardly sleeping, never left us even when we were asleep, and continued to comfort me... When morning came, you took me to the hospital and even though the nurses said you couldn't be in there, your stubbornness eventually won over. Once you climbed up to my window, you said the same thing. You didn't think you were being kind. It's thanks to you that I got better. It's because of you that I never feel alone. In a way, it's because of fate that we meet and became the best of friends. From that day onward, I tried to do everything I can to help you succeed. Even if that means giving up my dreams. I... fell in love with you. With your kindness, selfless and willing to sacrifice everything to make sure we were ok. So please, don't ever think you aren't worth helping or being round. Ok?" She said with her eyes filled up with tears.
I felt her anxiety, misery, and optimism. I could feel her glowing energy before me.
"That is why when I heard you were leaving... I decided that I didn't want anything else but to help you succeed. I asked Lime to help us get there and see agreed..." She said with the faintest of smile.
Her words were gentle and warm but... I felt sadness and emptiness that were beyond my account.
"Cinnamon..." I said, trying to speak.
I never knew she and Blossom felt this way about me. I though by pushing them away, I only intended to save them the pain if something happened to me. But, I was so blind to not realize their true intent and feelings. I was a fool...
"I may not be very smart or great with everything but... even then, I only wish to be you and help out anyway I can. I don't understand it myself but... I can just tell whenever you're sad or in distress. I want to be there even if it means doing the impossible, I want to make sure you stay happy. Even if I can't fix the problem, I will make sure I continue to do my best until you are satisfied." Cinnamon wiped away her tears.
I was speechless... there is nothing I can say that will fix the damage I've done. Even after I tried to push her away, she still wanted to help...
"If I may, can I ask for one more favor...?" She asked.
I nodded.
"I wish for us to stay by your side... If you say no this time... we will leave without a fight." She said.
I knew that we were friends but I didn't know the extent of how much I meant to them. How I could be so blind to miss this, I don't know. I was on the verge of tears as she said that. My inner thought were about to overflow and consume me. I honestly yearned for that. For me to honestly believe I couldn't amount too much without them... there's no way I can say no now. That day, Those two became the most important things in my life next to my parents. When they are with me or vise versa, the days are luminous and delightful. I was selfish to leave home without thinking how they felt about it. I didn't want them nor my family to get wrapped up in my selfishness and have them deal with any unneeded hardship. I thought I was being selfless by not dragging them with me but it appears that I was wrong. They are important to me, after all-
"It is as Cinnamon said, we only want to see you succeed and are willing to help in anyway we can." Blossom said, suddenly appearing.
My inner struggling was stopped by Blossom. I was so occupied with my own thoughts, I hadn't noticed her return and she looked right at me as she sat down.
"Even if what we do isn't fun, I am fine as long as I'm with you two. Hardship or otherwise, I will push forward with you two being by my side. When we are not together, we suffer from solitude and that isn't a good feeling..." She said, showing a tear.
Blossom...
"With all we have been though, even if it's burdensome or difficult, I want to be here to support you and Cinnamon. Our happiness isn't not as important as yours. Do you see our point now? You went out of your way to help us even when it was difficult. That's all the more reason to be by your side. We may not have everything, but in tough times, we can support each other though it. That we can do." She compassionately said.
Her soft and compassionate nature was like the setting sun. A pleasant and smooth smile. A surprising revelation from Blossom were really pricing my heart.
"Lime herself understood our motive. That is why she helped us." She said without any hesitation.
Those genuine words went right through me. What right do I have to decide their happiness? That though was the only thing I realize above all else. Those words continued to echo through me.
"A worry free life is nothing without somepony to share it with. It wouldn't be the same without you as I'm sure you feel the same way. No matter what happens, we will always be by your side. So please, allow us to be with you." Cinnamon said hugging me. "This is where I want to be.”
She was on the verge of crying but despite that, she smiled. It was nothing but pure , absolute words.
"You're right... there are no reasons in the world I can say no to you... to say no now, would only mean I'm being selfish." I said.
"So, does that mean...?" She asked.
"Yes, you can stay but just know, it wouldn't be like back home. We got to do our best and not get carried away, got it?" I asked.
"Yes~! I will be on my best behavior!" She said, cheerfully.
"It seems he finally understood." Blossom said with a smile.
The teary saga seems to be over by their smiles. Maybe I just didn't hold much faith in myself to believe they held this much compassion for me. Seeing in from their point of view, it's a simple but meaningful motive. It looks like I still have a lot of growing up to do... and with them, I can do it. When it came to honest, these mares know what to say.
"From this point onward, let's do our best. Together." I said, happily.
"Yes~!" Cinnamon said cheerfully.
"No problem." Blossom said with a smile.
Even if I don't know what the future holds for us, I can assure that it will be a fun one. I am certain of that. I looked up and saw that it was nighttime.
"Let's head to the store before going home." I said.
"Huh? Did we go shopping already?" Cinnamon asked.
"I think you guys deserve a reward for all your help." I said.
"Oh, He's treating us." Blossom said with aw.
"Yay~! We are having sweets for dinner!" Cinnamon said flying around.
"Nutmeg is so loving... As expected from him." Blossom said with a smile.
"Just for today, ok?" I said.
Together with our high spirits, I felt we can do anything. This was the beginning to a golden but beautiful new life and a step forward. After getting the cake, we headed home. I was tired from everything that happen despite not much physical activity happening. I unlocked the door and we went upstairs. We set the table up and as we finished that, I told them to go ahead and eat without me.
I went to the couch and closed my eyes.
I'm glad that they showed me the error of my ways…
