Shipwrecked

The ocean can be a dangerous place. Between the creatures who lurk below and the sometimes violent tendencies of the ocean waves, as surprising as it always sounds, it shouldn't be as so when a ship goes missing, or even sinks. Now, I'm fully aware that it is a tragedy, no matter what type of boat it was, when one goes missing or sinks, or whatever the case may be, but still, shouldn't be so surprising. It's the ocean. No Princess controls it. It has its own will. It does what it wants.

Now, you're probably wondering what I'm rambling about, or maybe more like why I'm rambling about missing ships and the ocean. Well, it started two years ago, in the middle of the scorching hot July summer, a cruise ship by the name of the S.S. Lunar Dawn set sail for the South Luna Sea. She was supposed to leave for a month and a half, then return back to Horseshoe Bay. She made it into the South Luna Sea but didn't return back home.

For an entire year, search party after search party was sent in hopes of finding the ship and the possible remains of the ponies aboard. Each party came back empty-hooved. No sign of any of the ponies or the ship itself. Half way through the following year, the case went cold, and by the end of the year, was closed entirely.

I was one of the detectives of the Canterlot PD working on the case. I was pissed when the cased was closed, but I understand why the chief closed it. It was basically hopeless, they were probably forgotten and lost for good. But I'm not one to give up so easily. The other detectives suspected foul play, or that the ship was sunk by a rock or a massive ocean creature. They could be right, but I have my doubts. I believe they accidentally sailed to a new continent or undiscovered island and got stranded there, whether it was the ship got damaged docking, or that there was a storm, or even that they ran out of fuel.

I convinced the chief to reopen the case and let me make an attempt to solve it. I believe I have what it takes to do so, even if it means sailing away from home, away from my cozy apartment and my roommate, my friends, and family. Even if it means that I won't make it home myself, but somehow, the truth does. I leave tomorrow on a rented ship that'll get me to wherever it is I'm going, hopefully, at least.
