"What's so funny?" "Sorry, Twi. Just found it a bit funny to hear 'Countess Coloratura' from someone after what happened. She goes by Rara now if I recall correctly," Applejack said. Twilight nodded. "Oh yes. That's right," she said. Applejack cleared her throat. "Uh... yeah though! I did, she wrote a couple'a times," she said. Pinkie Pie's hand snapped up as she did an impressive cartwheel to reach right up to Applejack's face. "You wrote to Rara without telling us? I'm one of her biggest fans!" she yelled, bouncing in her place. Twilight rolled her eyes, using her magic to pick up the pink mare and set her back on her throne. "Seriously, Pinkie. Control yourself," she said. "To answer your question, I guess I thought I didn't need to. Y'all wouldn't really be... interested, in what I talk to her about," Applejack cut in. Her friends raised their eyebrows. "Uh... well what do you talk to her about?" Rainbow Dash asked, her eyebrows raised. Applejack cleared her throat and quickly got up from her seat. "Well, would'ya lookie here at the time now... uh... gotta go!" she said. Rarity quirked an eyebrow at her curiously. "But you said you were available till three! It's barely twelve o'clock darling," she said. Applejack gulped. "Something came up. Last minute," she insisted. Fluttershy coughed softly. "But I was just about to bring in the scones I made for today," she said. Applejack bit her lip, but sighed and nodded. "Oh alright sugarcubes," she said. "I'll stay for a bit longer. Just... no more questions about Rara, okay?" The ponies around the table groaned, but gently complied as everyone made their way to the large dining room in Twilight's castle where Fluttershy opened her large box of treats. "Holy sweet apples those look good..." Later that day, Applejack bid her friends adieu and took off back to the farm. The other's took this moment to converse softly about the events that happened prior. "Alright girls, we all know Applejack's hiding something," Twilight said. "Something's in those letters to Rara," Rainbow Dash said, rubbing her hooves together. "Oohhh a secret mission," Pinkie said happily. Fluttershy bit her lip. "But I thought we weren't gonna get involved..." she said. Rarity nodded. "She's right darlings. We did promise not to," she said. Rainbow Dash smirked. "Well, we didn't say exactly that... we promised not to ask questions about Rara. This is totally different!" she said, fluttering higher into the air. She did a quick double flip, before returning back to the ground. "Oh this is gonna be sweet." "Alright, do we have a plan? I don't know about you, but I'm especially curious," Twilight said. Fluttershy sighed and complied. "Okay. It is kind of exciting. Applejack's the element of Honestly. There has to be a reason behind her not telling us," she said. Rarity nodded. "It's settled then. We'll find out what AJ's hiding from us," she said, sticking her hoof out for everypony to take. They did a quick cheer before settling back down. "So... what's the plan huh huh huh?" Pinkie said excitedly. "She's got to have the letters somewhere back at the farm. What if two of us distract her while the other three go search the barn?" Rainbow Dash suggested. "I call distracting!" she quickly added. "Sounds like a fair plan to me," Twilight agreed. "I'll search the barn." "I shall too," Rarity quickly added. "I guess I could as well," Fluttershy said. Twilight nodded. "Okay, so Rarity, Fluttershy and I will look through the barn while Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie distract Applejack? Pinkie?" "Okie dokie lokie! Sounds like a super-duper awesome plan!" Pinkie Pie said. Everypony nodded. "Let's do this." Applejack was having a normal afternoon. Picking apples, making lunch for the Cutie Mark Crusaders, picking more apples, peeling apples, picking more apples after, and picking apples after that. She definitely wasn't expecting Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie to jump out from a tree and scare the living daylights out of her. "WAAAHAHA!" she screamed as she was thrown back in shock. "Oh golly Dash, Pie. What in the name of sweet mother hay are you doing?" "Oh hey AJ," Rainbow Dash started off casually. "Just thought we'd drop in to see if you're down for some hardcore pranking." "Yeah! It wouldn't be the same without'cha Applejack!" Pinkie Pie added in quickly. Rainbow Dash nodded. "Exactly! Now are you in, or are you in?" "Sorry girls, no can do," Applejack said simply. Pinkie pleaded, snapping both her front hooves together and gathering dry tears in the corner of her eyes. Applejack bit her lip, but shook her head firmly. "Besides, I'm not really into pranking. The only reason I'd ever go was for you two," she reasoned. Rainbow Dash nodded. "Exactly! Great! Let's go!" she said, taking Applejack's hoof and pulling her away from the barn. "This day just got five-hundred percent cooler!" "Great, she's gone. Let's go!" Twilight whispered quietly from behind the barn. Fluttershy and Rarity nodded quickly, before the three mares made their way inside through the back door. "Ohh I feel so scandalous right now! I wish I had more time to pick the right outfit!" Rarity said. Twilight rolled her eyes as Fluttershy sighed. "Let's just get this over with as quick as possible," she said. "Here! AJ's room!" Twilight announced, opening the large red door and trotting inside. The other two mares followed suit shortly after. "Now if I was Applejack, where would I hide my- OH THOSE DREADFUL CURTAINS!" Rarity screeched, running to the window and lingering her hoof over the small tapestries. "Raaaarity!" Twilight said. Rarity's eyes drooped in response. "Oh but Twilight..." "Rarity!" "Ah fine..." Rarity said, letting go of the curtains. Her eyes suddenly popped as something caught in the fabric. Paper. "Rarity? Did you find something?" Fluttershy asked, her voice dripping with concern. Rarity nodded. "I... I found the letters!" she exclaimed, picking them up and beginning to scan the parchment. Her eyes widened as she read the small words; Rara's hoofwriting. Twilight quickly made her way towards her friend. "Well?" she asked impatiently. Rarity dropped the papers and turned to Twilight with a shocked look. "I... just... what??" "Oh give me those..."
