Chapters Celestia set down her cup of tea sensing the change in atmosphere.
“It's a beautiful day out, why don't you all go enjoy it.”
One of the stallions turned to face her. “Your majesty?”
“I would recommend taking the back exit.” Celestia cleared her throat. “Now if you don't mind.”
Hesitant, the guards filed out of the throne room. The moment the last one left she closed the door behind them with her magic. Celestia set aside her tea and sat upright on her throne. She lifted her chin as she did when dealing with unwanted company. A peaceful silence filled the area. Light burst through the murals on the wall painting the ground a mix of vibrant colors.
The main doors to the throne room were launched of their hinges. They clattered half way down the great hall damaging the marble floor.
“Tell me Anon,” Celestia said, “How did you slither your way past Twilight and her friends?”
Anon had a smirk on his face as he began his walk towards the princess. “Celestia you know I wouldn't avoid that challenge.”
Celestia’s eyebrow twitched. “Then how is it you stand before me?”
Anon stopped and turned to face one of the murals. “When I was struck by that rainbow it was indescribable, but I'll try anyways.” His expression lost the smirk taking a more neutral look. “It pierced me down to my soul, ridding it of all possible negativity. Hate, greed, jealousy, all those emotions simply vanished.”
“Then I ask again, how-”
“Because none of those things drive me!” An aura appeared around Anon, colored near black. It faded away as he unclenched his fists. Anon continued his march, a fire in his eyes.
“After all this time, what could drive you to throw it all away, if not something malicious.” Celestia's voice was sincere. Her chin lowered so she could examine Anon carefully. His smirk returned.
“Curiosity.” Anon proclaimed. “The magic awakened in a human versus the magic of a god.”
“Do not call me that!” Celestia stood cracking the ground below her. “I am as vulnerable as any of my little ponies.”
“Except to time… or fire.”
A crack of raw magic sparked near Celestia. She took in a deep breath and started to make her way down the stairs.
“You do not know me Anon. You do not understand the burden such powers come with,”
Anon and Celestia met stopping inches from each other.
“But you're about to.” Celestia wrapped herself and Anon in magic and teleported away, leaving the throne room void of life.
=========================================================
“What in the hay are you eating?”
Anon jumped at the voice appearing behind him. He managed to catch his plate before it hit the ground. He turned to see the cyan pegasus hovering right outside the castle window.
“It smells awful.” Rainbow Dash said plugging her nose.
“It’s fish.” Anon replied. “That would be why I am eating it next to the window.” He held out the dish for inspection. Dash shied away from the repulsing meal.
“Rainbow,” Twilight whined, “Can’t you just use the door for once.”
“Nope.” Dash flew around to another window and entered the castle. “So, it eats meat?”
“Not it, he.” Twilight walked over examining the notes she had been taking. “We figured that was the case when we saw his cuspids.”
Rainbow Dash tilted her head.
“His canines.” Twilight tried again.
Dash’s head tilted further. “He has dogs?”
Twilight face hoofed. Spike giggled.
“His teeth.” Spike pointed at his fang.
“And it's not meat he needs, it’s protein.” Twilight clarified. “He can that through nuts, heavier greens, and some dairy products.”
Anon shifted on the ledge trying not to pay attention to the ponies talking about him while he finished his meal.
“He has a combination of sharp and dull teeth usually meaning his diet consists of plants and,” Twilight cleared her throat, “Other things.”
“Where did you get the fish?” Dash asked
“Griffons have a diet consisting of fish as well so it wasn't too hard to obtain some, now that we have better relations.”
“Oh yeah, Gilda once brought fish for lunch during juniors flight camp.” Rainbow laughed at the memory. “That didn’t go well. So is he staying here?”
“I don’t see why not? The castle has more space than I will ever know what to do with.”
“Aren't you worried he’ll eat you.” Rainbow said in what she thought was a whisper.
Anon rolled his eyes. A smile peeking out on his expression.
“Um, no.” Twilight pushed Dash away. “The last few days we have focused on his biology. It’s quite fascinating Anon’s body is actually much weaker than any pony.”
Anon felt something scratch inside him. Something that wanted out. He pushed the feeling down.
Twilight levitated multiple sheets of paper to look over. “Since we don't know how long he'll be here I'm trying to gather as much information as possible. You about ready to continue Anon?”
“Yeah,” Anon stared out the window, “be there soon.”
“Well I stopped by because Pinkie is having party.” Dash said. “Thought you should come, maybe you could bring Anon. The rumors have been going wild since he left the hospital.”
“I could use a change of scenery.” Anon said. “Would be nice to learn about you equines versus the interrogation I've been under.”
Twilight brought a hoof through her mane, “I don’t know-”
“C’mon Twilight, I could really use a break from writing.” Spike said rubbing his wrist.
“But-”
Dash and Spike brought their faces together and brought out the puppy dog eyes.
“Fine.” Twilight sighed. “Let me organize these and we can go.” Twilight went into a frenzy, mumbling to herself as she levitated countless papers in multiple piles.
“So what kind of rumors should I be ready to dispel.” Anon asked Rainbow.
“Nothing too major, but if any pony screams and runs away try not to hold it against them.”
Anon laughed. “This should be fun.”
“Ok all set.” Twilight set the last sheet down and the group left, leaving the castle smelling of fresh ink.
“Two cupcakes extra sprinkles.” Pinkie set the pastries in from of Twilight and Anon. “Any plans for hearts and hooves day tomorrow Twilight?”
“Not this year,” she replied, “I should get to work on recreating the human timeline.”
“What about you Anon? Have a special somepony in mind?”
Twilight rolled her eyes and took a bite of her treat. Pinkie patiently awaited for an answer, no sarcasm or jest in her voice.
“There is one mare I've had an eye on.” Anon said flatly.
Twilight started and choked her cupcake. She tossed around frantically pounding on her chest till she cleared her airway.
“You can't inhale them Twilight.” Pinkie said. “Trust me, I've tried.” she focused back on Anon. “So who is she- Do I know her- If she lives in Ponyville I know her I know everypony that lives here,”
Anon rested his chin in his hand and let the pink mare rant on.
“I also know ponies from Canterlot, Cloudsdale, Fillydelphia, Appleloosa- Oh my gosh you didn't meet her when you went to Canterlot did you-” Pinkie’s face started to turn blue, “Because than I might not know her and if I don't know her I can't tell you if she has a special somepony or not- that would be the worst if-”
“Pinkie breath!” Twilight demanded. Pinkie stopped talking and took a comedic inhale. Her face returned to its normal color. Anon chuckled. When he turned to face Twilight she levitated out a paper and quill.
“How could you like a pony?” Twilight asked. “You're not the same species.”
“It's because she doesn't treat me like a different species.” Anon said, “She treats me as if I was a pony who just moved here from another city.”
“What like Lyra?” Pinkie said.
All three paused to take a glance at the mare in question. She sat in the back of Sugarcube Corner, staring at Anon through a newspaper with large holes cut into it.
“No,” Anon said, “The exact opposite of Lyra.”
“Well, who is it?” Twilight asked.
Anon smirked, “Well she is a purple unicorn,” He reached over and touched Twilight's hoof. Her face lite up and the spell holding the quill fizzled out. Before she could stammer a reply Anon pulled back. “She also has three gems for a cutie mark.”
Twilight's eyebrow raised and she turned to check her flank.
“Oh my gosh, you like Amethyst!” Pinkie said as she bounced around. “Are you going to ask her out?”
“It would be really late if you asked her now.” Twilight said and hesitantly added, “and I'm not sure asking her out is the best idea.”
“Relax Twilight it's just a date to get to know her more.” Anon sighed and slumped down in his seat. “You are right about it being late though.” Anon picked up his untouched cupcake and rotated it.
Pinkie deflated and whined at the turn of events.
“So I better not wait any longer.” Anon got up. “Pinkie where is she?”
“How would Pinkie kn-”
“She's at the park!” Pinkie interrupted.
Twilight gaped at her. Anon nodded and walked off. The two mares following close behind. The last mare in the shop donned a mustache she stole from her roommate and stalked after them, leaving Sugarcube Corner irresponsibly unattended.

“I'm making a small fortune off you darling.” Rarity said taking Anon’s measurements again. “Honestly, how much longer is this going to continue?”
“Not much longer, but I’m not sure.” Anon replied. “Having to walk everywhere and eat healthy has been doing wonders for my physique. Not to mention most of my needs are paid for and my only job is being endlessly questioned by Twilight.”
“Didn’t you have to walk in your world?” Rarity trotted over to her sewing machine. She aligned the cloths and started to make the necessary adjustments.
“Not exactly we used automated travel in order to save time and cover larger distances.” Anon admired himself in the mirrors.
“Like taking carriages everywhere?”
Anon laughed, “That is the same comparison Twilight made.”
“Speaking of Twilight, is she almost done? We rarely see her.”
Anon slumped down. Rarity floated over the modified clothing and placed it over Anon. “Something the matter?”
“We are running out of things I feel comfortable sharing.” Rarity tilted her head, Anon explained. “If I had to make a comparison human technology is hundreds of years ahead of yours. I don’t want to alter your natural technologic evolution, but your species has magic making the comparison basically useless.” Anon rubbed at his temples.
“Pfft, you're worrying over nothing darling.” It was Anon’s turn to tilt his head and have Rarity explain. “If you share advanced technology with Twilight and explain the pros and cons she would be willing keep it secret, and if you're really worried, share the information with Princess Celestia. She has been alive for thousands of years. If anypony could have foresight into these things it's her.” Rarity folded all of Anon’s clothes into a bag.
“Thousands of years?” Anon whispered. He felt that scratch again. He tried to distract himself.
“Would you mind if I accompanied you back, I simply must see Twilight.”
“Not at all.” Anon grabbed his bag and held the door open for Rarity. After she passed he let the door shut leaving the boutique with noise of a ringing bell.
==============
Anon found himself on the other side of a creek. The water reflected a green tint and bubbled randomly. Sunlight barely pierced through the trees. He had been wandering around this forest for hours now without any sign of where on earth he was. A path of rocks lay in the middle of the creek. He took an experimental step on the first rock. When it held his weight he took a confident leap to the next one. The rock sank down under him. He managed to maintain his balance until the stone lifted and threw him to the other side.
“What in the world!” Anon turned and froze. A cragadile roared and stomped its way towards him. The beast opened its maw and lunged forward. It caught Anon’s arm as he stumbled back. He screamed. The cragadile wriggled back and forth in an attempt to rip off the appendage. Anon threw a fist at the creature’s nose. He cried out in pain as bone collided with rock hard hide.
The cragadile huffed at the pathetic attempt. It double its effort to remove the arm. In an act of desperation Anon’s fingers crawled along the rough surface of the cragadile’s face. When they felt a soft spot they dug in. The beast howled, finally releasing him. Crimson spouted from the injury, staining the ground below red. The cragadile spun. Multiple cracks rang out as the tail connected with Anon’s side. He fell to the ground gasping for air. The cragadile escaped back into the creek.
Anon grasped at his chest as he attempted to breath. His vision faded in and out. In a moment of focus he caught sight of a town past the forest. With what strength he could muster he got up and staggered to civilization, leaving the forest with a trail of fresh blood.
Anon walked down the busy city sidewalk with a wide grin. He found it amazing how so many people could be traveling in a variety of directions, but you might never bump elbows. Cars were jammed bumper to bumper in rush hour traffic. A symphony of horns rang out. The morning sun beat down on the world. It reflected across every skyscraper’s windows like mirrors, trying to blind you from every angle. It didn't deter Anon’s mood this morning. Today was an important day at work.
A shiver ran down Anon’s back. He could feel somebody watching him. He turned around to check, but no one was there. Literally no one, the sidewalk and road were empty. Silence dominated the city. He faced forward and found the same vacancy. He was all alone.
The street light above him started flickering lamp. He rushed to the next light, scared of the engulfing darkness. He could still feel eyes upon him. Anon wondered what they could want. He glanced around for the source. He found nothing on the dark streets or the ruined skyscrapers.
“What do you want!?” Anon yelled into the nothingness. He turned as he heard the collapse of a building. Dust flew up from the destruction. When it cleared it revealed a full moon. The light brightened the world below. The moon shimmered as if it were an image in disrupted water. A dark blue alicorn emerged. She landed in front of Anon.
“Princess Luna?” Anon asked.
“Yes,” she replied, “Hmm, I didn't think my company would twist your dream like this.”
“A dream.” Anon sighed in relief. “Weird how I chose you to save me.”
“Choose? You are mistaken Anon, I am actually here. I have the ability to enter others dreams.”
Anon thought for a moment. He couldn't tell if this was the work of his imagination, or if Luna actually stood in front of him. He frowned.
“This is a lose lose situation.” he said.
“I do not understand.” Luna cocked her head.
“I know you don't like or trust me. If this is all my dream I'll become paranoid you are here for real. If you're here for real I'm pretty certain you're just here to spy on me. So I'll make this clear.” Anon chose his next words carefully and deliberately. “Do not invade my dreams again, or else.”
A storm cloud appeared in the sky. Lighting flashed, and thunder roared out. Luna amplified her voice. “You dare threaten me!?”
Anon started to bet this was the real Luna. Unfortunately for her, Anon had grown tired of being weak. He wasn't about to feel that way in his own dreams.
Anon lifted his hand and a sun lifted into the sky. He pulled at the sunlight and burst apart Luna’s stormclouds. Luna gasped at the sudden control displayed by the human.
“If you want to spy on me, at least do it in person.” Anon stared her down.
Luna stood tall, but sweat formed on her brow. “Very well.” She opened a tear in reality and passed through it. After she left the world fell away into nothingness as Anon woke up.

The barn door flung open. Sunlight burst through causing shadows to take cover behind tools and piles of hay.
“Should be somewhere in here I reckon.” Applejack said. She stepped inside. “Only question is where?” She rummaged through the various piles of items.
“You have a lot of stuff.” Anon said, joining her.
Applejack continued digging through one of the piles. “Yup, but everything has a purpose.” She pulled out a poorly made dress.
Anon raised an eyebrow.
“Heh, this one's... nostalgic.” Applejack tucked it away. “Maybe it’s on the second level.”
Anon glanced around the barn. He spotted a piece of colorful padding with a buckle. It was buried under a stack of planks and other building materials. Some of the wood chunks stretched to the second level. Anon thought they might be used as foundation pieces for a new barn.
“I think I found it.” Anon called out. He walked over and pulled at the life jacket. The lumber kept it pinned. He tried again putting more strength into it. The life jacket stretched but eventually slipped out.
“Got it.” Anon examined the vest. It looked like it would fit.
“Watch it!” Applejack warned.
Anon glanced up. The planks of wood creaked as they shifted against each other. The whole stack toppled over. Applejack lept to push Anon out of the way. He rolled to the side and watched helplessly as the debris buried Applejack.
“Oh no.” Anon scrambled to his feet. He grabbed one of the planks and tried to pull it off the pile. The wood proved to be too heavy. Anon could only push it to the side.
Before he could grab another, something stirred under the debris. Applejack stood up causing multiple planks to slide off.
“Dang it, I told Big Mac not to put em' like that.” She touched at her head and winced. “That's gonna leave a bump.”
“A bump!?” Anon yelled. “What are you ponies made out off?”
Applejack turned. “What are you on about?”
“If I had been under that, I would be a pile of red paste.”
“Ain't no need to exaggerate.” Applejack broke free of the remaining mess. She turned to Anon. Her eyes widened. “Your arm.”
Anon glanced down. His forearm had begun to swell. A hoof mark formed in black and blue across his flesh.
“Better my arm than my whole body.” Anon said. He hid the injury behind his back.
“Y- you weren't kiddin’, you could have…” Applejack stared at the mess with a new understanding. “How do y’all manage being so… frail.”
Anon’s expression dimmed. The scratching feeling returned. He didn't have to be thIs weak, did he? The scratch turned into a clawing sensation. He clenched his fist. Applejack’s voice pulled Anon from his temptation.
“C’mon, we’re gettin' you to the hospital.” Applejack harnessed herself to a wagon in the barn. “Twilight’s swimming thing will have to wait.”
“I can walk.” Anon protested.
“Not fast enough. Now get in.”
Reluctantly Anon crawled into the wagon. Applejack ran off in the direction of Ponyville, leaving the barn in disarray.
Anon walked down the line of animals who stood at attention.
“We have that one,” He pointed at a mouse, “and that one,” a squirrel, “that one too,” a rabbit. He paused at the next one in line. “Is that…” He bent down and poked at the rabbits antlers. “A jackalope?”
“Do you have those too?” Twilight asked, her quill hovered above the check box.
“No.” Anon laughed. “In our world they’re a myth. Made up. What's next? Do you have a cockatrice or manticore here as well?” Anon joked.
“Oh my goodness no.” Fluttershy said. “They would be too aggressive to be around the other animals.”
Anon stopped laughing. “You- you seriously have creatures like that just wandering around?”
“They usually stay in the Everfree Forest.” Twilight said.
Anon turned to face the edge of the Everfree. “Sound like I was lucky to only run into the cragadile.” He traced one of the scars the creature left.
“They are very territorial.” Fluttershy shooed a distracted pig back into line. “At least you avoided the timberwolves. They hunt in packs and don't-”
“I could use a break.” Anon interrupted. He felt his heart race. He tried to keep his breathing under control. “Maybe tea?”
“That sounds wonderful. Discord wanted to try to make it today.”
Twilight winced.
“Discord?” Anon asked. A shadow covered him. He looked up and his eyes went wide. A strange amalgamation of animals towered over him. It’s red eyes burning into his.
“I’ve been waiting for this opportunity.” Discord snapped his fingers and they were teleported away, allowing the animals to fall into chaos.
=======
Anon's eyes peeled open. His vision blurred. He heard someone step out of the room as he rustled awake. He blinked a few times to clear his eyes.
He was in a hospital. White walls and floors reflected the light coming in through the window. A machine monitoring his heart rate beeped in the background.
He sighed in relief. “Just a dream.” He sank back into his bed. He tried to move his right hand but it was restricted. He lifted it into view. A cast covered his hand. He jolted up and checked his other arm. Another cast stretched from wrist to shoulder.
The door opened and a white pony with a faded pink mane stepped in. Anon froze. The pony waved another one in. This one being a lavender unicorn with wings.
“How are you feeling?” Twilight asked.
Anon stared at the pony.
“Can you understand me?” Twilight pointed at herself.
“I don't understand.” Anon said. His statement having more meaning than just a reply to the creature.
“Language barrier. Luckily, I have the perfect spell.” Twilight's horn lit up and she made her way to Anon. The heart rate monitor beeped rapidly as Twilight closed the distance. Anon flinched back, fearing whatever the pony was up to.
Twilight took in Anon’s look and stopped. She ended her spell and took a few steps back. She waited until his heartbeat returned to normal.
“Maybe I can explain with pictures?” Twilight said to herself, more than to anyone else. Her horn lit up again and she formed crud images of Anon and herself.
The images tried to speak to another and a red X covered the illusion. The next time she showed her horn touching Anon’s head and they tried taking again. This time a green check mark followed.
“I think... I get it.” Anon said. He reassured himself the pony meant well. Why else would they patch him up, he thought. Still, he had to take deep breaths as Twilight inched closer. The glowing horn was mere inches away when he closed his eyes.
Anon felt the touch of the horn and knowledge poured into his mind. First the Equestrian alphabet, then the way it sounded, followed by each word and It's meaning. His body pulled something else from the spell. It pooled inside him and encased itself.
Twilight grunted as she tried to keep the spell going. Beads of sweat formed as a level of overglow appeared. She lost consciences for a moment as a massive surge of magic was used. She stumbled to stand but nurse Red Heart helped her up.
“Are you okay?” The nurse asked.
“Just took more magic than I thought.” Twilight replied. She glanced up. “Did it work? Can you understand me now?”
Anon rubbed at his temple with his free hand. “It worked. Alicorn Princess.” Anon found the correct words to describe her in his new mental dictionary.
“Oh yes, yes, yes I did-” Twilight fainted mid hop. Nurse Red Heart caught her almost waiting for it to happen.
“She okay?” Anon asked.
“Fine.” The nurse replied. “Magical exhaustion, not the first time she has been in here for that.” The mare rested Twilight onto a bed in the hallway. “I am going to take you to the doctor so he can explain your injuries. You will have to wait for Twilight to wake before asking more pressing questions. She is going to want to answer them, trust me.”
Anon simple nodded. Having a new language crammed into his head had him exhausted. Nurse Red Heart wheeled the bed out of the room, leaving it with the smell of disinfectant.
======
“These are all the things Twilight asked I am hesitant to answer.” Anon let a scroll roll out on the conference table. The rooms windows were tinted making it difficult for light to push through.
Celestia wrapped the list in her magic. The glow from her magic created the brightest light in the room. With her height and elevated seat compared to the others she appeared regal and intimidating. She sipped at her tea as she reviewed the list. She levitated a quill and slashed through three topics.
“Nothing I wouldn’t mind my subjects knowing,” Celestia explained, “but I would prefer they figure it out. The rest Princess Twilight has already theorized on.” Celestia levitated the scroll back to Anon.
“She theorized on phones?” Anon asked. “You realize they can communicate across the world instantly.”
Celestia chuckled. “The idea of communicating long distances has already been created. Do you think there is a distance limit when Spike sends me a message?”
“It's not the same.”
Celestia sighed. “The means are not the same, but the theory is. Concepts are what I am concerned about. If Twilight had the idea to ask a question it means she had the concept already in mind. Almost anything she can think to ask I trust her with the answer. Do you understand?”
“I think so.” Anon swallowed. “That brings me to my second list.” Anon hesitated bringing out the scroll. “These are all the things I thought Twilight was too worried or too ignorant to bring up.” He let the scroll roll open. Words he took so long to write popped out. ‘Atrocities, deterrence, genocide, nuclear weapons.’ Each one had a short description of the meaning, and historic examples.
Celestia took her time reading through the scroll. She showed no emotion. Anon clenched and unclenched his fists as time passed unbearable slow. He couldn’t bring himself to look at Celestia. She eventually set the scroll down.
“Anon, do you remember when I asked you to explain how you got here?” Her voice sounded impartial.
“I remember.” Anon said as he stared at the table.
“Now I need to know why.”
Anon clenched his eyes shut. “Our world was running out of natural resources, and we had damaged the environment beyond repair. We initiated many projects to solve the issue. The main focus was space exploration and colonization, but we had recently discovered something new. A way to push into other worlds, possible other dimensions. The ultimate goal was to find a planet rich with resources and move in. We weren’t far in the project. I was the first human test subject. The plan was to push me through and pull me back, it failed.”
“Did it?” Celestia's voice took on a sharp tone. “You completed your ultimate goal, a world rich with resources.”
“I was suppose to go back!” Anon stood up and stared Celestia down. He fought back the stinging feeling in his eyes.
Celestia’s fierce expression lightened. “You’re right… I am sorry.”
Anon whipped at his eyes and sat back down. A moment of silence passed before Celestia spoke.
“What are the odds of humans repeating the process that brought you here?”
“Slim to none.” Anon said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if they shut the whole project down after what happened to me.”
“Anon do you like it here, in Equestria?” Celestia levitated a cup of tea over to her guest.
Anon grasped the cup in his shaking hand and took a sip. The warmth flowed throughout his body. He took a deep breath and relaxed. “That’s a weird question.”
“The list you gave me includes humans most powerful weapons. To surrender information of this nature would be considered treacherous by most. Are you worried what humans might do if they find Equestria?”
Anon hugged at himself. Celestia had seen right through him. He didn’t want to paint humans in a negative light but he had to inform her of the possibilities. Yet here he was about to condemn the human race as heartless savages. He wanted to think better of his own race but he knew how desperate earth had become. Anon felt a comforting warmth envelope the room. Celestia’s horn emitted a soothing light. She ended the spell and smiled.
“You have nothing to fear.” She said reassuringly. “Although human weapons are dangerous we have magic that can defend us. With this information we can be ready if anything would happen.”
Anon felt a weight lift off his chest.
“As long as this is everything?” Celestia asked as she got up.
“That’s everyt-” The clawing sensation inside Anon went wild. It wanted out, it needed out. His eyes widened in realization. Just how powerful would a single human be if they obtained what he had? What kind of threat would it pose?
“Something the matter?” Celestia had moved to leave. She held the door open.
“No.” Anon whispered. He got up and walked past Celestia in a haze, the door slammed shut behind them.
