//-------------------------------------------------------// The Trotting Dead-Season of the Decayed -by Spellbounder- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Visit to Aunt Glatos //-------------------------------------------------------// Visit to Aunt Glatos 3 months since the incident….. When the time finally comes, every creature across the entire plain of Equestria will be asked the one question. Where were you when you first saw them? When the decayed tried to kill you. I can understand that it won’t be easy, but then again, nothing ever will be, not anymore. For me, I was in my home city of Manehattan to see a relative three months ago. It was my Aunt Glatos. We hadn’t spoken to one another since Uncle Crysto’s funeral. Poor woman, she used to be so happy, so full of life. She didn’t cry at the funeral, or spoke with any one of us for that matter. When I looked into her eyes, it was as if the Decayed had already killed her from the inside. She was nothing without Crysto, and tried desperately to be with him again. After the fourth attempt to end her suffering failed, we all knew what had to be done. So we moved her from the quiet life of Ponyville to our home of Manehattan, so we could always keep an eye on her whenever there was trouble. It was my turn to visit, and I’ll admit, I was actually in a happy tone that day. I was gonna surprise Aunt Glatos with a picnic in the park and a show with the whole family. I heard that Pon3 was coming, and Glatos always loved this new kid hip music. She was going to love it; I just couldn’t wait to see her frown turn into the brightest grin in years. But sadly, that was never the case. Today was the day when she couldn’t withstand it anymore. Unknown to us, Aunt Glatos had been practicing potion making in her spare time at home, spending countless nights to perfect the most painless kind of death to be with her loved one once again. It was going to be so simple, drinking the poison and laying in her bed one last time, listening to the music of Pon3 on the radio by her side. Poor woman never expected this, to turn. I knocked on the door to her apartment building an hour later, holding the picnic basket in my mouth. There was no response, so I knocked again, this time, with the basket on the floor. “Aunt Glatos? Its me, its your Jimmy Bean!” It was always the cutest nickname to her, ever since I was born. Sounded a lot friendlier than James Magnaglow. After five minutes of waiting, I was starting to get worried. I began to slam my hoof against the door, hoping to Celestia that my sweet auntie was just taking a nap. “Aunt Glatos! Come on, let me in! I got a surprise for you!” I kept my cool, even though sweat began to drip down my neck. I decided to use the key Mama Glow gave me in case of emergences. It didn’t seem right, for all I knew she coulda been out to her job at the Farmer’s market, or down at the library to catch up on her love of magic, despite being an Earth Pony, but darn it, I couldn’t bare to take that chance. “Aunt Glatos, I’m coming in! Sweet Celestia, I hope you’re decent!” I open the door with my eyes shut, expecting her to yell, but hear nothing. When I open them, I see no pony in sight. “Aunt Glatos?” I trot in slowly, looking over at the table to see a note written in pink ink. I already expected it was from Aunt Glatos, thinking of the worse. “To my friends and loved ones, I can’t take this anymore. The magic of life has faded from my soul, and I can no longer stand to have him away from my hoofs.” That second, I stop reading, and run into the bedroom. The last time she tried this, she attempted to jump out her bedroom window. To this day, we sent post cards to the Pegasus that saved her. “AUNT GLATOS! PLEASE ANSWER ME!” She wasn’t in her bedroom either. I couldn’t believe this. The last place to look was the bathroom, which appeared locked. I didn’t care what I had to do, all that mattered was saving her life. With full force, I gallop for the door and smash it down, speechless to what I was seeing. In the bathtub, full of ice, was Glatos. She hoped that if the poison didn’t settle in fast enough, then slowing down her blood process would give her a better chance at death. “Aunt Glatos….thank Celestia and all the elements that you’re ok! I was so worried!” I was an idiot at the time. Couldn’t see the difference between a full blooded mare and a decaying monster before me. Her face was pale, eyes soulless, and all she could think of was eating my flesh. “Come on, lets get you outta here. You need to go to the hosp…” That’s when my view of life changed forever, feeling her cold, dead hooves wrap around my shoulders and tail as she tackled me to the tile floor. The moans she erupted, the gaze she gave me trying to bite me, it was all horrible. “AUNT GLATOS! AUNT GLATOS!” I had to push her off me, galloping out of the bathroom and tripping onto the bed. This gave me a full view of what my sweet aunt had become. Her beautiful red coat was turning gray, as her shining blue eyes were now a vein pulsing snow white, as her own blood began drooling down her mouth, dripping to her hoofs. Her mane began to fall apart slowly, as her cutie mark of a heart wrapped in flowers was now pale and wrinkled. At that moment, I knew that this was no longer my aunt, and she had become victim to a plague that would consume us all, from the magical Unicorns to event the strongest Alicorns. The decayed had began to take control. Author's Note Hi, I hope you enjoy this crazy fanfic I wrote and plan to stick around. I am a big fan of both shows and wondered about making this happen. Please give good feedback if you enjoyed this so far. //-------------------------------------------------------// The Situation at Hoof //-------------------------------------------------------// The Situation at Hoof There were only three of us when the decayed finally took over. Most of the surviving ponies waited peacefully in locked homes, hoping that somepony would save them. But no, nothing happened, nothing at all! The Elements of Harmony nor did Princess Celestia come to our aide! As much as I hated to admit, the only way we could protect ourselves was on our own. There were others who refused to believe this, praying to the sun and moon that their princesses will cleanse Equestria of this sin. It’s false beliefs like this that led to the end of Manehattan in the first place. 3 months earlier….. I felt frozen, gazing at my Aunt Glatos with the lust for hunger in her swollen dead eyes. Even as she wrapped her blood covered hooves around my neck, I couldn’t bare to move. Then it happened, my realization that this was actually happening. This wasn’t just in my head. “AUNT GLATOS NO!” With all my strength, I use my hind legs to kick her off of me, knocking the deceased mare back into the bathroom and slamming the door shut. She was down, but certainly not out of the picture. I had to lean on the door to prevent Aunt Glatos from escaping. It was horrifying listening to her moans. I couldn’t stand listening to it, feeling my eyes start to wet. “Celestia….what’s happening!?!” It was like this for the next five hours, me with my back against the door, trying to keep her in one place. My mind was rustling with confusion, unsure how to continue on from this. I knew I had to get help, but couldn’t risk leaving her alone. She could escape, cause harm to others or more to herself, if that was even possible anymore. Did it really matter at this point? I knew magic could cause many things to happen, change the lives of many ponies, but something like this? It just didn’t seem possible. “No, this can’t be it for her.” I finally decided what to do, pushing her large wooden dresser in front of the bathroom door to keep her in. I then took Aunt Glatos’ spare key from behind the kitchen sink and locked the apartment, keeping watch to make sure no pony was there to see me. It didn’t really seem right, but at least she would couldn’t be a threat to any pony for the time being. But even as I walked down the hallway to the stairs of the building, I could still here her moaning with savage rage, banging against the wall. This attracted her neighbor, Ms. Jingle Jangle, an older mare who owned a holiday store not too far from the apartment. She was a kind, sweet lady, but I couldn’t risk telling her the truth of what was wrong with Glatos. “Jimmy? Oh this is quite the surprise!” “Ummm, hello Ms. Jangle. How are you?” “I’m quite fine, thank you.” This small talk was getting us nowhere. Glatos only kept moaning louder, slamming her hooves so hard against the walls, any pony in the building could hear that racket. “Is something wrong at your Aunt’s? That’s quite the commotion I hear.” “Oh that? Oh its nothing really. She just found out recently that her apartment has mice and well….she thinks she can handle this without paying an exterminator.” Did I feel proud about lying to her? No, but how could you even explain what was really causing all that noise? “My my….I kept trying to help her with the rent, but the mare refuses to take any bit I offer. If it’s ok with you, dear, I would gladly pay for the exterminator. I can understand that mice really aren’t something you want when trying to sleep at night.” “You are a doll, Ms. Jangle, but you know how my Aunt can be. Always trying to do things her own way.” Celestia, all I wanted was to confess. She seemed so concern for Glatos. “Well, alright then sweetie, give my best to Glatos.” “I will, have a good one, Ms. Jangle.” Present day….. She lived a good life, for as long as I allowed it. At least we allowed her a peaceful death, preventing the mare from becoming one of them. Worst thing of all this is that each death doesn’t make you stronger, it only makes your nightmares even more terrifying, feeling the mental scars burn into your scalp as you witness the cycle of death over and over again. Celestia, alone, can’t clean those wounds. 3 months earlier…. “What is this about Jimmy? Come on bro, talk to me.” If there was any pony I could share my secrets with, it was my loyal older brother, Marco. All my life, he helped me look at the positive side of life, no matter how gruesome it would get, and Celestia knows I could use his advice right about now. “Jimmy…..is she….” “I don’t even know. She was like this when I got here.” There we were, just gazing at the door, shaking to the screams and moans Glatos released, slamming against the walls like a mouse trapped in a box. Our friend, Cristina, kept watch outside, making sure no pony would see my Aunt, or try to stop us from doing this insane plan Marco came up with. “Look, we just gotta get her to my friend, Zap. He knows all kinds of stuff about reanimation spells. Maybe he can reverse this….whatever this is, and bring Aunt Glatos back to us.” “I’m not sure this even is a reanimation spell. You know how Glatos acted, trying to end her life to be with Uncle Crysto again. How about we just show him what exactly was in that poison she tried to drink?” “Guess that would be better than dragging angry Glatos across the streets. Think you and Cristina can handle her while I take the poison to Zap?” “Marco, I’m the one that trapped her in the bathroom. I think I can handle watching the door.” I had a bad feeling about this, but what other choice did we have? The minute authorities saw Glatos like this, she would be killed on the spot. Author's Note Here's the second chapter. Hopefully this will get more views as I continue it. LOL
