Chapter 1 - The Foal Created from the Shadows

The icy winds of the frozen north ravaged the

landscape with all its might as the white blanket

of snow grew more layers upon itself. The mountain

tops gave an intimidating stance as they withstood

the elemental forces... Somewhat.

On one of the mountain tops, a single cave crafted by

the elements stood in a typically eerily fashion.

However, known to none, the cave held a Unicorn

whose heart was black with shadows. His name

was King Sombra, or rather; the king of Shadows.

The king, who lived in the cold cave, beared a

blood tipped horn. Amongst his face, two

devilish eyes with a purple mist emitting from

them housed in the king's head. On his body,

he wore a royal red and white cotton sewed

cape and on his legs he wore steel plates

that started from halfway down and fastened

themselves as they covered the bottom of

his hoofs. His mane and tail were both

shadow black as they both were in a

comfortable position for the King.

The king, after being struck by the Crystal heart,

managed to reunite his body. However, he

was weak; Only having the power to ward off the

iced winds for the time being as he restored his

power little by little. Luckily, Sombra also had

enough power to create his own bed, table and

chair out of thin air; combining the air with the

shadow magic.

For as long as he reunited himself from the previous

damaged state he was in, the King kept on pacing

up and down the narrow fit of the cave. He was trying

to figure out a way to break back into the Empire

without detection but no possible ideas came to

mind... Until he looked at a photo album of himself

when he was younger that he managed to retrieve

from his orphanage home.

"Damn crystal ponies... Having their faire and their

love..." Sombra grunted as he looked through the

many pictures of his younger self. "Everypony...

Called me names... And said i was weird..." He

remarked as he looked at one of the pictures

more closely. "A foal... Could that be the answer

to sneaking in...? Surely not... But the guards

may allow the foal in if they didn't know the

origin of the... Foal." he thought to himself as

he flipped through the pages of the book.

After many comments of darkness and

finally closing the book, the king lingered

on the idea of the foal. On one hoof,

it would allow him to keep track of the Empire

and allow himself to have a backup body incase

his fell in battle by transferring his spirit from

one body to another. On the other hoof however,

a Foal would be an inconvinience and without

enough power, would not be able to sustain both

him and the foal and make it back to his cave

alone with enough strength left. Sombra thought

more and more until he finally decided to go

Along with the idea.

"This will be an... Interesting... Experience for

me..." Sombra thought as his horn became

crowded with his shadow magic. More and

more magic built up and eventually began

to shake the ground due to the power

and force of the magic. Sombra focused

all the power he had into creating his

little weapon. The foal started materializing

and soon it was complete... At a price.

Sombra had used up most of his dark magic

and energy and reverted back to his shadow

form. "This is an interesting outcome..."

Sombra said to himself as he looked at his

creation.

As he inspected the foal he had created, he noticed

a sort of family resemblance. Also, he noticed he was

a colt so Sombra was satisfies. Many the mane, tail and

body Shade along with an aqua strip included in the

mane and tail, which also had darker tones of blue

on the sides. The foal had a normal horn, unlike

the king himself. So he was satisfied with that

since his plane would most likely work. He looked

into his son's eyes, he could see they were lime green;

one shade lighter than his own. Overall, Sombra was

pleased with himself. Even if he had no body for a

while.

as Sombra continued inspecting his new son, the foal

gave a shudder and a loud cry as he felt the icy

winds floating in. The king knew what he had to do,

it wasn't a matter of love though; he needed to

ensure the foal even got to the empire alive! Quickly,

Sombra grabbed his new son and wrapped him in

his fathers darkness to keep him warm and fled

out of the cave. For sombra, traversing the north

wasn't that cold. But the foal found it a bit

different. Even though his son was in a warm place,

the foal still had a vulnerability to the cold and

screamed as he felt the icy breath of the north

overtook him.

Sombra raced towards the empire as he maintained

his son and kept him warm. He was on the edge of

the crystal empire's magic barrier. However he knew

he wouldn't be able to enter. So he managed to echo his

son's screams into the ears of every crystal guard.

after a few seconds, all of the crystal guard swarmed

the barrier edge and noticed the baby colt. They

grabbed the baby colt and marched towards the

Crystal empire hospital.

Sombra had done it. He successfully got the guards

to retrieve his son. As he raced back to his cave

however though, his body started reforming.

as soon as his horn came back and he entered

the cave he lived inside, he warded off the winds

again and sat down.

"Now to wait..." Sombra thought to himself

as he sat on his wooden planked bed with

very little warmth. "Very soon..."
