To Love Is To Live, Or Something Like That
The Worst Of Luck? Or The Best? (Prologue)
You know, life has it's ups and downs. But mine? It's always been downs. Ive always had trouble, whether it's making friends or pleasing my family, bad luck just follows me. It's like having an incurable disease, one that saps the will to live. And after the events of today, I'd say it's reached a new peak.
Yeah, your probably wondering what the hell I'm rambling about aren't you. Well let's just say that due to my horrible luck, I lost my job today. I was a cashier at a local Walmart that was about a mile from my house. What got me fired? Well it's a funny story. I'm usually pretty diligent about watching the register, but being the type of person I am, and the luck I have, I left my register to use the bathroom. I had my co-worker Ricky take over for a minute. Well let's just say that because of Ricky, some money went missing from the register. Ricky freaked out and apparently stuck the money in my pocket when I was near. I got fired for it.
Not necessarily the best day at that point, but what made it even worse was returning home to find a message on my answering machine from my parents. Apparently they believed I was gay, and that it was imperative that I be disowned on the spot. Now coming from a poor or middle class family that wouldn't be so bad. But my family owned an oil company. They were loaded, and I was honestly hoping to use my inheritance to start my own business. The job at Walmart was just so I could prove to my parents that I could take care of myself.
So for the second time that day, I felt my world crash. But, what hammered the nail into the proverbial coffin of this day, was where I ended up. As I had been going down my stairs I had tripped, or slipped or something. I don't know, all I know is I fell, and took a nice little tumble down the stairs. At that point I had blacked out. When I woke up I found myself lying on grass in the middle of a field. How the hell I got there was beyond me. What confused me however, was the texture of everything around me. It looked as though it had been drawn using the paint program on the computer.
Still curious, and at this point starting to wonder if I had gone insane or was just dead, I decided to walk and see what I could find. In all honesty the walk was boring. Nothing but vivid cartoon nature everywhere. And nothing really happened. Until I reached the village. It seemed like a dainty little town and seemed to me like maybe something out of the middle ages. All the homes seemed old fashioned, especially considering that they all had thatched roofs.
I decided I might as well see if anybody was around, maybe get some directions as to where I was, or whether or not I was dead and in heaven or something. However, entering the town shocked my mind. Walking to and fro where ponies. All different colors and sizes. But that wasn't all, there where Pegasi flying through the village and Unicorns as well. At this point my mind shut down and once again I wrapped myself in the comfort of unconsciousness.
