I walked down the well worn path towards Ponyville. I had just moved here from Cloudsdale, and to be honest I didn't really like it. I had so many friends back in Cloudsdale, like Ember Lights, Sky Wings, and T.L. I sighed. I remembered why I was named Firelight. I had a orange mane with a yellow lightning bolt in it. My coat was light blue, my parents told me that they choose the name Firelight because my colors looked like a fire. I thought about my friends back at Cloudsdale, wondering what they were doing. Suddenly a blur of white, purple, and pink zoomed in front of me, and a white unicorn stood before me making me stop in my tracks.
"Hi! I'm Sweetie Belle, and I'm part of the Cutie Mark Crusaders! And well I saw you and I noticed you don't have your Cutie Mark, and the Cutie Mark Crusaders help ponies who don't have their Cutie Mark. So do you want the Cutie Mark Crusaders to help you find your special talent or what!?" She asked. I blinked at her. Her green eyes were a bit lighter than mine, but they shown with excitement. I wasn't a social butterfly like my sister Rosey Peaks I was more of the stays in her room away from everypony. I was kinda odd like that, if you meet me on the street I'll be really shy, but when you get to know me I'm nuts.
"Hummm, wha?" I managed to repile, I was kinda shy to foals my age. Adult ponies I'm fine with but foals my age.... Burr! I don't think I could do that. Sweetie Belle frowned.
"What's wrong? What's your name?" She asked. I looked down. I really didn't want to be here. Well at best I should try.
"I'm,... Firelight Speckled." I said to her. Her smile widened. I took a step back. She was kinda scaring me a bit.
"Cool name, Firelight Speckled!" She said. I looked at her.
"You can call me Firelight." I said. Suddenly a shadow looked over us. I looked up and saw a dark blue blast of magic hurtling towards us. My ears turned back in fear and my tail slipped inbetween my legs, I began to shake. I would love to say I am fearless, by I was afraid of so many things. Spiders, height, but now I think I'm afraid of a dark blast of magic coming towards me faster than I can fly, and will do who knows what if it hits me. I looked at Sweetie Belle, she looked as scared as I was. I wanted to run but I couldn't, my hooves felt frozen in place. I tried to fly, but my wings felt like they had a hundred pounds on them. My heart pounded against my chest so hard I wondered if it would come out. My stomach had turned ice cold, like the time I had eaten fifteen cartons of ice cream. But worse. I gulped. I knew death was coming.
When it hit I didn't scream. I learned not to somehow. But it felt like I was burning, boiling, and drowning all at the same time. I think I saw my life flash between my eyes too. But as quickly as it began it was gone. But I didn't die. My hooves felt like Jell-O, I couldn't feel my wings, my head felt like I had grown a bumb on it. I collapsed into the ground suddenly weak. I tried to stay awake, but I felt like soempony was tap dancing all over my aching body. I eyes began to drop. But I managed to catch a glance of Sweetie Belle to see if she survived the blast. I had a mili-second to think 'Why does she have her mane differently and wasn't she a unicorn?' before I passed out.
